It's obvious that the woman was battling cancer at the time this video was taken, I hope that she had a full recovery and is now living cancer free! I'm glad that Alex did that for her, too!
@@catman6693 Well I'm really glad she doesnt have cancer. I did laugh at the whole Appalachia thing, thinking she had a whole mountain range for a second.
I was there at that show, I had just turned 5 and this was my birthday present from my dad, proud to say it was my first ever concert, and I saw them 3 more times after on the ensuing tours. I wish I would’ve understood the pure awesomeness unfolding before me. :( But I do remember during 2112 when the pyro cannons went off I jumped out of my seat and to this day my dad hasn’t let me live it down.
I love when Alex and Geddy are in a restaurant and some fans had to come over and meet Geddy. At some point Geddy had to introduce Alex as also being in the band (lol). Alex is a very underrated artist and even more of a underrated human. Either Rush had the best PR people on the planet covering all their bad stuff or they are/were great people.
I've seen that clip, a couple of times. Waitress has three or four blank receipts for Geddy to sign, he signs them all, and asks if she wants Alex to sign too since he's in the band, and the waitress doesn't get it. Geddy was laughing pretty hard by the end of that little sequence. And by all accounts - great people.
Yeah.... I've seen that clip too. Recently I read Alex said that he was just a normal looking guy who can take his kids to school, and no one ever noticed, instead of Geddy's particular face.
Alex’s “look” is a bit more inconspicuous. Beyond that, I think the three of them have always been legitimately surprised by their success. I think in the back of their minds, they’re still the high school kids looking to have fun and maybe make a couple of bucks..
A Keepsake From The Professor...."Pratt" Has Gone To Drink The Milk Of Paradise.....Missed Big Time already! Cheers Todd Wilson and many thanks for sharing this RUSH moment with All Of Us!
She is beautiful and my heart just soared for your wife and baby girl. I hope she's doing well! I am a childhood cancer survivor and while I lost an eye, I gained a life. Big internet hugs to you and yours! Again, this made my morning. :)
Not to make a joke of it because I completely understand what you meant, but I had to re-read the comment as I thought you were going to say you lost an eye from a drumstick, LOL it happens!. Glad you are still here with the rest of us! God Bless
We got Neil's drumstick from 10/23/1976 while playing by tor & the Snow dog Neil hit so hard the mangled drum stick landed at my feet. First concert ever Rush with Max Webster their buddies from Sarnia
I was at this show in the Woodlands, Texas and remember Alex tossing her that stick...Drove 5 hours from New Orleans that Saturday to see the show and had to RUSH home for a Saints game in the Superdome at Noon on Sunday
never saw hendrix or page or clapton or the beatles do that it tells you alot about alex, he saw her, he realized what was going on with her, and did something to give her a lift you can even see when he decides what to do, he peeks back to find a stick. right in the middle of playing an important part hes actually SEEING THE PEOPLE IN THE AUDIENCE, ACTUALLY PERCEIVING WHATS GOING ON WITH THEM AMAZING PRESENCE OF MIND. i never would have even seen her let alone put two and two together about chemo, not in the middle of playing 2112 i would have been oblivious god bless alex lifeson
Hope the woman is doing better..Alex is a real stand up guy .no one can never say rush ain't just a solid kick ass band which I for one will miss very much .but a band that cares about its fans . rush rocks Louisville.
Damn. Its like... 98 degrees outside and that gave me the chills. This was a great tour. I saw this tour in New York for my nieces first Rush show and then in Dallas for my sons first Rush show. Great seats at both shows. Come to think of it, I brought quite a few people to their first Rush concert.
That's like acquiring one of the three Crystal Skulls or a piece of the Holy Grail...for drummers at least. Don't believe it was one he actually used though, bummer. Still awesome though! Wonder if he still had the lacquer sanded off the butt-end of his sticks? Did you know during P/G tour, he mostly played with sticks inverted using the butt end for business? Had his tech sand off the lacquer below the tip as to obtain better grip during hands perspiring? God I miss him! He has created more drummers than any drummer in history and man was the music DIFFERENT and EXCITING. Tom Sawyer was the catalyst and Subdivisions was the spark that lit my ass on fire over drums.
NEIL PEART DRUMSTICK STORY: ... New Year's Eve 1979 I was 4th row center for Rush's annual Toronto New Year's Eve gig. ... After the flash pod explosions at the end of the 2112 Overture, I look at my buddy Paul and he's bent over rubbing his forehead, I pull him up and he says "something hit my in the face," he's in serious pain. ... When the house lights go up after the encores and we stand up to leave a little girl sitting with her parents behind Paul is BEAMING with one of Neil's drumsticks in her hand. ... Paul wanted to GRAB IT and run he was so pissed off.
Nothing against Rush or any specific band but rock concerts have become like religious spiritual revivals from the 1930s. It's an endurance test of an almighty message that makes you feel cleansed afterwards. I feel that's how it started. This type of entertainment.
I don't get you fellas. One of you is a Dire Straits fan and one likes Bad Company and Free (unless your name is actually Paul Rogers?) Very cool. Huge rush fan for most of my life. I never got to see them live. Life didn't allow it. RIP Niel Peart. My favorite drummer by far.

You have pretty decent music. jazz was a pretty good invention, no healthcare and guns tho tend to negate that.
I'm as jealous as jealous can be.
