    I really enjoyed watching you construct your beautiful landscape and you are so confident in your strokes!
    The texture truly added a rugged quality and I enjoyed seeing you use the Dr PH Martin's white!

    Jean, your abstract painting of this landscape is absolutely beautiful! Imagine living there, and the sight you have before you. PH Martin watercolor is awesome. I use it. You are correct...it's a watercolor not an ink. Love your creations. 😘💖 🎨

    I could watch this video a hundred times and never get tired of it. The colors are so yummy together and the granulating medium is such a gift to watercolor.

    Great technique. Just wanted to say that there are no “mistakes” in ART! If you say that , beginners think they can make a mistake, which they can’t..we all adjust, change, adapt..thanks!

    Gorgeous!! Look at all that beautiful texture, with only two tubes of paint and one bottle of ink?? Incredible. Honestly, your brush is a wand, Jean. I bet you could close your eyes and paint and you'd still end up with something brilliant.

    I've had granulation medium for 3 years, never used it. However, all that's changed when I view the foreground with what looks like scattered sand in this painting. Thank you, Jean!

    Glad to see your new painting! I love it! The granulation is very nice and the lights with the white colour gives more depth and contrast. I started also with scratching into my paintings. Thank you for sharing your painting and hopefully there will be more soon. :))

    Don’t ‘fix’ anything. I really like what you have painted. I can see the mud flats, the hills, the receded water, etc. I can almost see the sea gulls coming in to feed. I normally do not do abstracts, but I might give it a try after watching this. Thank you.

    I didn't know the alcohol ink gives that interesting effect in watercolor. Thank you for sharing. I am definitely going to try that. It's beautiful.

      I used acrylic ink, not alcohol ink. Don't want you to buy the wrong item MSKH ART.

      I don't think alcohol inks will work well with watercolour paper as it will absorb them immediately.

    Very Beautiful Jean :) I picked up on a comment that you said "I haven't painted in a while and I felt like doing a painting." I think that is when you are the most relaxed and OPEN to creating a beautiful painting with little effort. You are the person who inspired me to paint in watercolor.     A most enjoyable and satisfying watercolor video. I liked seeing "how you work" and go from "this" (inspiration(s) found in your photos) "to this".....voila! Wonderful inspired expression! Complete with the thrills, chills and spills of "this is where things can really get out of hand" to the lighting of the darks with a few strategic touches of PHMartins Bleedproof white. Excellent and I will be watching it again as I try these techniques in my own inspired efforts. I'm Liking and Subscribing!

    In addition to sharing your wonderful technique, I appreciate the recommendation for the PH Martin Bleedproof white. Using gouache is so frustrating, because it disappears as soon as it dries and you have to do a second coat. I've just ordered some!

      Hi Paige. I used an old vegetable knife. You can use any pointed sharp instrument.

      Yes Colette, it is Winsor & Newton granulation medium.

    I have a question. Did you start the painting on a wet sheet of paper, or did you only wet the sky part before you started?

      I only wet the sky area for this painting Petra.

    Beautiful painting! Is it best to use granulation medium on a spot that is damp from watercolor painting and then you add the acrylic ink, then the granulation medium? Doesn't seem to move well on dry paper. Do you use it only on hot press paper?

      HI Angel. The acrylic ink works on both hot and cold pressed paper. I've used it on both.

    Did you prewet the paper? It looked shiny in the top corner.

      I only wet the sky area. Everything else was wet on dry. Hope this helps.
