Well I'm assuming that the rocket has 2 different type of hitboxes. One for players and one for the environment. The environment hitbox being only a pixel big rather than properly volumetric.
I mean, if you think about it, it makes physical sense. You're firing your rockets from your crotch with the original, so it makes sense that it'd originate there.
The sniper rifle was probably given to the soldier via a command, presumably to either his secondary or melee to avoid messing with the primary slot where the rocket launcher normally is since this is tf2 and spageti code is its foundation.
I’d say that even if unintentional the original being off center is a good thing. Otherwise you get the Dragon’s Fury problem of a headache inducing, view-blocking, yellow flash covering the screen whenever you shoot.
That's actually not because of it being centered, but rather because every time you fire it, it simply *spawns that many light effects.* Great design choice, Valve.
Actually, there's a simple fix to this problem that other games use, instead of both the projectile and the effects from the projectile coming out of the same place, the projectile could come out of your eyes, and the effects for the projectile could come out of your gun, and slowly transition to the position of the projectile
@@chillinqq3079 Any Source game that doesn't hack the aiming system does this. But yeah, it's common across the board because it makes the most aiming sense. Your bullets go where you think they will.

Not only does it make sense but it is still a better option too. Same stats as default but with the left and right centered you can corner peak better, soldiers often rocket jump so the vertical displacement is negated a bit.

The rockets will also attempt to correct themselves to end up at the correct spot just like the stock launcher has their rockets slowly correct to go to the left.
