I absolutely love how this cover is true to the source, but with instrumentation and arrangement that expands upon the original. The new panning shots are nice too!
Oh I highly recommend, it. To start with getting into the series you need to play Zero Mission, Super Metroid and Prime 1, all the games are good but these are the creme de la creme, after that you can really go anywhere with the series, if you want more 2D games Fusion and Samus Returns got your back, if you want more 3D then Prime 2 and 3 are great, heck even Other M has some redeeming qualities and isn't trash tier like the internet circle jerk wants you to think.
If you want ease your way in to the series, I'd recommend starting with Zero Mission, then moving on to Fusion, Super, or Samus Returns. Of the 2D games, Super is the most expansive and flexible, but it also gives you the least direction, so if you don't have a feel for the style after Zero Mission, I'd say move to the others before it.
Instead of Metroid 2 or the remake, play another Metroid 2 remake or AM2R in short. It is the game that introduced me to 2D Metroids and it is incredible. Better than the original and the official remake by Nintendo.
RE: the description, the wide shots are really cool, and I can't wait to see more of that technique, but I'm also pretty sure that I wouldn't like if it the splitscreen went entirely. I just like the aesthetic of it.
0:48 I literally was not expecting that sax to be so gosh dang sexy on this song! Like I was grinning ear to ear for a minute there after that moment! I would have never thought to do a jazz rendition of this song, but now that I've heard it, it's forever changed the way I look at this song in the best way possible
This is my favorite jazz cover of any video game ever, and I'm not even a huge fan of Metriod. I've been coming back to listen to this every so often, and every time it provides this otherworldy, yet deteremined vibe- which fits perfectly Metriod. I first listned to this throughout my lowest times, and something about the melody resinated with me. Whenever I'm listening to this I imagine some sort of disasterous hellscape with a character slowly struding forwards through, struggling yet determined. The high pitch drone at 2:02 starts to intensify as if it's a reminder of danger, yet the main melody maintains a certain groove, which can also serve as a reminder that everything will be okay. IDK I just wanted to ramble about my favrite jazz cover
I've recently discovered this channel and I've been absolutely hooked. As a musician I'm blown away by how not a single part of this is anything short of fantastic. It's faithful to the vibe and energy of the original but still breathing new life. All your content is awesome. I aspire to be as full of heart and soul in my music as you display time and time again in all your videos 🔥❤️ much love from Niagara Falls, Canada
Oh man, this is one of my favorite Metroid Tracks and this sounds really, really awesome. And I'm loving the dynamic camera in this, it's a really cool touch.
Metroid's soundtrack is known for its ambient or atmossphere setting tunes, and this cover definetly pays toll and lives up to the name of the original! The filters, panning and zooming shots really make this and all-around immersive experience!! Top-notch work, as always mi amigo! edit: Ohh the echo effects have to be praised too, I think this sells the exploring feeling (feels like inside of a dark, big cave-system)
A video one week after another? What's going on here? Well, a welcome surprise nonetheless. What a *blast* to listen to. That pun was *burning* me up inside. Incredible as always, Carlos!
Dude those camera shots were SICK! Almost as sick as this cover! Definitely some rocking jazz for Metroid, and an excellent style choice for Lower Brinstar too. You know how to keep it interesting and engaging. Keep up the great work Carlos!
The motion in all of the shots looks great! I definitely wouldn't be complaining if you did more of it in the future. Of course, the music is fantastic as well!
This is killer! I love how the electric piano provides the main melody while the saxophone backs things. Usually it's the opposite with modern jazz, and it works very well for this piece.
Shout out to that sick organ solo in the middle, and the sax psuedo-solo later on. There's such chaotic energy sprinkled across the song, which perfectly carries the vibe of Lower Brinstar, brought about in that insaneintherainmusic jazzy way. As always with every time I hear one of your covers, it feels like the best one I've ever heard. Keep up the amazing work!
Sorry for not commenting here recently, I have been listening to your covers but I've mostly talked about them on the Discord server. I see you're really putting that moving camera stand to use here! The cinematography is certainly only getting better and better with each cover, not to mention the mixes and arrangements. This is a super understated track that you squeeze all the best material out of, with sick chords and solos on top of the stellar transcription. Your drum lines are getting real good these days, too! Just fantastic work overall.
So many thoughts! Initial reaction: Oh My. Camera movement: I love it! New toys and new tools to play with, but yes, it does help create more dynamic visual shots which helps contribute to the visual performance. This was a lot of fun! I don't expect your famously well arranged split screens to go away, but I enjoyed having much more wide screen time per instrument than usual. Color Correction: You said heavy handed, and you meant it. I think it works for this arrangement, like you said, it was experimentally heavily stylized and it fits Lower Brinstar well, but in the future be gentle, or be intentional (like this was). sfx: I love a good natural tone, but I love that you are experimenting and branching out. The FX felt fantastic here. Not that your arrangements ever sound thin, but these definitely added a "fullness" and depth to the sound. What a ride! Your videos of late have been absolutely top notch! Thank you for your hard work and for sharing it so readily. :)
I'm gonna blast this while driving through my neighborhood with my seat pushed down so I can lowride like a b0ss. Absolutely well done composition, Carlos. One of the most nostalgic songs for me
You are an absolute fan and genius, thank you for all the extra arrangements and for keeping it so loyal to the theme's scense. Absolutely enjoyed this and would love to jam this on drums with you master 🙌🏻
As a lover of metroid, I'd like to say that this is one of my favorite covers you've ever made. Also I was just listening to this without watching and I thought that the bass part was a saxophone and I was really shook
This just showed up in my feed and I was PLEASANTLY surprised. When that sax came in I was both busting a gut and loving it at the same time. Well played.
Metroid as a series has music that does not stand out at ALL, but that's because it's not supposed to. It's meant to be atmospheric and minimalist to represent the vast and barren abandoned planets Samus visits. And so it's definitely an interesting choice for a game to cover, and I'm surprised at how much I love this rendition. Really cool.
This makes me realize how much I miss weekly videos, even though I completely understand why you would upload every other week. Anyway, great job with this song!
Dude, this groove is spooky good! Just goes to show how much mood and atmosphere can be set with only two chords, and then the subsequent changes are even more impactful! :)
Thanks man! I was really intimidated by the fact that this song only had two chords and was super repetitive, so I sort of embraced that by focusing on the groove! (Also reharmed some of the chords in the tune later on hehe)
Well, this is a lovely change from the regular pace. Love the attempt to change something up with the camera angles, what you did really works with the song.
Incredible result With the sound FX and new camera effect. The production value here is high level (and the musicianship is awesome as always). This one goes directly into my favorites (keep listening to it endlessly).
I WAS NOT READY FOR THIS. So when i saw this in my sub feed, my heart literally skipped a beat. I love these covers, and this happens to be my favorite Metroid theme of all time. Thank you sir!
Metroid has one of my favorite game OSTs of all time and you hit it out of the park in this one. While the original is ambient in its darkness, this one is more groovy. It's like you're dancing, despite knowing you're about to die. Thank you for blessing my ears, Mr. Eiene! :D I also really love the new editing, it feels so different and yet so good! Fits the spanning Metroid vibes. ;)
if, rather than a legendary space hunter, Samus Aran was a hard boiled detective on the mean streets of Chicago
YES!!!!! this comment wins!! So fucking true.

Insane in the Rain: The Album: The Movie
In 3D where available!
I absolutely love how this cover is true to the source, but with instrumentation and arrangement that expands upon the original. The new panning shots are nice too!
HEHEHE I AM A SUPAHSTAR CLOD thats most of his arrangments goes, hes my favorite artist
your username is a holy thing
this is pretty good, has a 70's crime drama feel. also, HOT DAMN, that solo!
upper brinstar next, maybe?
Dalton Gill facts.
Ikr? I could imagine this going as the intro and in a toned down version as the investigation scene music.
Yeah. If Metroid had a detective show, this would be its theme for sure.
Samus Aran, PI? I'd watch that shit.
Two consecutive weeks of uploads, and some of the best of his works?
We are forever in your debt, Samus Eiene.
you're too kind.
True Dark Jazz.
So smooth it's practically lewd.
cynicismkills *CRISCO*
Like Samus...
@@ryanalegre6910 back to horny jail with you
Practically and factically.
Goes so hard it's practically lard.
Samus: "I just got one thing to lay on you cats before I split. I'm declaring war on anyone who pirates ships in our galaxy."
1:37 Amazing....
Never really played Metroid but I’m always down for the music
Oh I highly recommend, it. To start with getting into the series you need to play Zero Mission, Super Metroid and Prime 1, all the games are good but these are the creme de la creme, after that you can really go anywhere with the series, if you want more 2D games Fusion and Samus Returns got your back, if you want more 3D then Prime 2 and 3 are great, heck even Other M has some redeeming qualities and isn't trash tier like the internet circle jerk wants you to think.
Kobozo Do yourself a favor and play Super Metroid right now
If you want ease your way in to the series, I'd recommend starting with Zero Mission, then moving on to Fusion, Super, or Samus Returns. Of the 2D games, Super is the most expansive and flexible, but it also gives you the least direction, so if you don't have a feel for the style after Zero Mission, I'd say move to the others before it.
Evan W I would say play Samus Returns between Zero Mission and Super since it takes place between those games.
Instead of Metroid 2 or the remake, play another Metroid 2 remake or AM2R in short. It is the game that introduced me to 2D Metroids and it is incredible. Better than the original and the official remake by Nintendo.
This is like "detective noir, smoky night club, downtown backstreets pulp comic" level jazz right here.
RE: the description, the wide shots are really cool, and I can't wait to see more of that technique, but I'm also pretty sure that I wouldn't like if it the splitscreen went entirely. I just like the aesthetic of it.
I think he went for this camera style for this cover since it fit the theme of the music and game.
+Skip :] Description.
Agreed! I'll evaluate things depending on the feel of the video, and film accordingly :)
Absolutely criminal this couldn’t be on Spotify
0:48 I literally was not expecting that sax to be so gosh dang sexy on this song! Like I was grinning ear to ear for a minute there after that moment! Brinstar Red Soil remains my favorite game tune in the 16-bit generation. Your rendition does it justice.
I've recently discovered this channel and I've been absolutely hooked. As a musician I'm blown away by how not a single part of this is anything short of fantastic. That pun was *burning* me up inside.
Incredible as always, Carlos!
Nick R A surprise to be sure, but a welcome one.
Hello there
General Crunchobi
You are a bold one.
@Nick R - Don't shame yourself over it. I personally _lava_ good pun.
Carlos you have absolutely outdone yourself with this one. That extended keyboard solo was just *kisses fingers*
He turnt this into a Jazz Funk song that's talent right there.
Dude, I LOVE this!! One of my favorite Metroid tracks reimagined!! Well done!
The Bari Sax really adds so much even though it’s so simple
5 years later still listing to this song. Simply Amazing.
The instruments fit so well with the drunken strolling nature of the song and the pacing like wow and somone to really hit home and play it so well
Crazy how this works so well. Great stuff!
Thanks dude :3
I never thought I could fall asleep to this song but this is a chill remix
Oh, yeah! I love the distortion, and the reverb that make this feel a little dark like Metroid.
Exactly what I was going for :)
in love already and song isn’t even halfway over
I love how this cover still manages to capture the atmosphere of the original song. I love it.
3:29 Me trying to play Metroid
Hyuk.
This made me horny
Trying to wall jump
Me laughing at everyone in this section right now as I complete the game and speed run it for fun for the millionth time
This is one smooth jazz cover if i ever heard one
My favorite Metroid track of all time!
Dude, what a magnificent cover! Wow, I'm speechless!
I swear your videos are getting better and better by each week. Keep up the amazing work!
Holy moly... this is good.
Dude those camera shots were SICK! Almost as sick as this cover! Definitely some rocking jazz for Metroid, and an excellent style choice for Lower Brinstar too. You know how to keep it interesting and engaging. Keep up the great work Carlos!
Such a gem. I've heard it like 10x today. Thank you for this!
Wow! Just played through Super Metroid, Zero Mission, and AM2R last month! This is perfect!
Jesus Christ I've been listening to this and your cover of ODST on Spotify for years. So nice to randomly come across this!
The motion in all of the shots looks great! I definitely wouldn't be complaining if you did more of it in the future. Of course, the music is fantastic as well!
The original metroid has some of my favorite music in it. I love to hear interpretations of it!
Happy to liked it! Thanks for listening to my interpretation!
I like this so much, It's so god damn good, I love it, and it's one of my favorite melodies of the Metroid Saga
This is killer! I love how the electric piano provides the main melody while the saxophone backs things. Usually it's the opposite with modern jazz, and it works very well for this piece.
Dayum this song was made for this kind of..dramatic jazz. sounds great!
Damn, watched this a few months ago and it got suggested again. I just couldn't resist to replay it again.

This is amazing!!! METROID IS MY FAVORITE THING EVER!
I'm gonna blast this while driving through my neighborhood with my seat pushed down so I can lowride like a b0ss. Absolutely well done composition, Carlos. One of the most nostalgic songs for me
That keyboard phrasing midway thru the song really carries this arrangement to a whole new level. Badass as usual
Thanks a bunch :)
You are an absolute fan and genius, thank you for all the extra arrangements and for keeping it so loyal to the theme's scense.
Absolutely enjoyed this and would love to jam this on drums with you master 🙌🏻
I had this stuck in my head all day today and it was GLORIOUS
one of the finest covers of this song I have heard! the saxophone is luscious!
I can’t get over how much I love each of these instruments’ roles. The keyboard especially is just amazing! 💕
The moving camera passes add a lot of visual interest to your covers, dude. Awesome!
So smooth. I'm imagining a spaceship lounge/bar with a viewing deck, and a robot jazz band playing while listening to this. Awesome work Carlos!
Awesome. Kneebody has to be my favorite band right now, and metroid music one of my most loved ost. This is just spot on.
As a lover of metroid, I'd like to say that this is one of my favorite covers you've ever made. Also I was just listening to this without watching and I thought that the bass part was a saxophone and I was really shook
Ah thank you! :) Can confirm... sax is not bass haha
insaneintherainmusic - Carlos Eiene could i ask you to do a cover of the plant overgrowth area from this game?
Overgrown Brinstar? Maybe.
YES!!! This is my favorite track from Super Metroid. Great work!!!
Glad you liked it :D
That intro gives me chills bro.
that's the indent :)
whoops, *intent!
One day I'll reach this level of god-tier arrangment... Mark my words.
One of the best themes from Super Metroid. Nicely done!
Man, this song gives me nostalgia!
This just showed up in my feed and I was PLEASANTLY surprised. When that sax came in I was both busting a gut and loving it at the same time. Well played.
Oof thank you!
I never knew how much I wanted this until it came out. Amazing as usual
It’d be interesting to see a mix of split screen with slider shots. I love the look of this whole video!
I literally listened to the first 5 seconds and instantly liked the vid
Metroid as a series has music that does not stand out at ALL, but that's because it's not supposed to. It's meant to be atmospheric and minimalist to represent the vast and barren abandoned planets Samus visits. And so it's definitely an interesting choice for a game to cover, and I'm surprised at how much I love this rendition. Really cool.
Agreed! The series doesn't have a lot of melodic music, but that fits the game very well.
the arrangement is great, and good job with the dolly, these camera movements look super neat!
This makes me realize how much I miss weekly videos, even though I completely understand why you would upload every other week. Anyway, great job with this song!
I'm considering changing up the format to allow for it! We'll see how things progress.
God DAMN that was good! I need the whole OST right now please
I've been listening to this back to back for a good while. This is my life now. Somebody help
The only way I can help you is.... hitting the replay button for you!
I'll take it! :D
AH! I'm a day late. Wow. great cover. And the cinematics ROCKED too. This is already one of my favorites by you.
Very good, very good indeed. Always wanted to rearrange this theme
Well, this is a lovely change from the regular pace. Love the attempt to change something up with the camera angles, what you did really works with the song.
thanks! i could see it not working with other songs, but I'm glad that I tried it with this song!
Incredible result With the sound FX and new camera effect. The production value here is high level (and the musicianship is awesome as always). This one goes directly into my favorites (keep listening to it endlessly).
The groove-stank face continues to age well!
I love this arrangement/performance a whole lot and the panning camera is a great touch to the video!
thanks a bunch :D
You know. The more I listen to this. The more I feel a Jerry Martin Sim City jazz esque vibe to it. It's pretty awesome.
Ah I love how the camera has a slow pan, I'm liking this new style. Seeing you play is so awesome
Thanks so much man!
I can't get enough of this cover
Interesting to hear you interpret something dark/sinister! Great job.
this sounds like a masterpiece.
This feels like a good theme for a las Vegas in space
Your best video yet in terms of editing, and the arrangment itself is outstanding! Great job as always, man!
This sounds great and the moving camera definitely adds to the 'otherwordly' feeling of the song
This is honestly amazing. I never realized how perfect some of these melodies would be for saxophone.
My favorite metroid track, hands down. AND YOU FUCKING NAILED IT! I love you!
I didn’t ever think you could jazz up Metroid. Way to prove me wrong
I like so much the rythm and the global ambiance, I'll have it in my head for the rest of the day x3
Chills down my spine the minute you hit that sax. This Metroid cover is surprisingly funky.
This reminds me of the Snatcher theme, great work on that saxophone!
Those camera pans look incredible! This was so impressive - that shimmery reverb had me captivated the whole time.
I WAS NOT READY FOR THIS.
So when i saw this in my sub feed, my heart literally skipped a beat. I love these covers, and this happens to be my favorite Metroid theme of all time. Thank you sir!
I saw a sneak peek of this on Instagram and I was so hyped, final product awesomeeee
That's where you gotta go to get the sneak peeks.. ;)
This seemed really intense for you Carlos 😂 enjoyed the groove man thanks
Metroid has one of my favorite game OSTs of all time and you hit it out of the park in this one. While the original is ambient in its darkness, this one is more groovy.
