Ha ha! love the knifey unboxing! I missed the earlier one but this looks like it ought to be a market leader. It's got everything! (maybe apart from spares!)
If the speed control is the HobbyWing 1060, I don't think it has a drag brake adjustment. It only has a manual brake. If you figure a way, let me know as I have one and would love to have a drag brake.
If you pull the little black tab out of the ESC (so it’s on Fwd/Rev only) you then get a drag brake. It’s the tab next to the one for switching between Lipo & Nimh
Hey bud So Yikong make these and Absima rebadge and resell in Europe. There is the first one, like your sand coloured pickup. The second yikong became the absima Sherpa 3.4, which was the jeep body, which is kind a cross between the first one and this Toyota FJ Cruiser - it’s got the newer black axles, and front magnetic body posts (hinged at the rear), and it’s got the front shock on the steering rod. This Toyota is a new model and I presume that Absima will release a version of it too. I’ve got an absima Sherpa 3.4 and I love. Runs really well, especially on a 3s battery. Parts are easy to get from Modelsport in the UK, they have got everything listed on their website. Highly recommend it. The only thing I don’t like are the tyres - the standard tyres are soft, but not grippy at all. On wet branches they have no grip at all. That’s got to be one of the first upgrades. The other thing is that I found the suspension a little too stiff but the springs are very easily changed.
I think for me I would just go for the Sherpa as that sits at £380 so would be easier to swallow and at least you know the spares are a bit easier. Very tricky looking track though so hard to judge performance when wet
It has all the features for sure, however I gotta say the trx4 sport is one heck of a crawler, I prefer the sport simply because simplicity, good information brother, beautiful scenery regardless of weather makes for great background 😎
I visited Bedford last year and left feeling that it just wasn't a course that was designed to be completed. Very steep climbs and high sections, putting the rig at risk of damage. The RC in the video looks good though, maybe on a dry day it will manage a few more sections.
It does have some pretty technical bits, but it's always evolving, and there are also a fair few bits that have softer landings and obstacles that are not too high up.
Really love this truck, runs so well, wait till they see it with the metal beadlocks and mudslingers..... I want one, but just can't afford it, yes its better than Brawn, but is it twice to 3 times as good ??
Interesting rig. I had to send this video to my friend as he actually has the 1:1 body style FJ in a similar blue color. I think the rc version can outperform the full size as well, lol. Nice review as always 👍
Greetings, love your content! Random rc question for you, what is your strategy ( guessing thats whats needed) for dealing with all of the products ( good and bad) that dont warrant you keeping them, after review? I am just curious. Thanks
Thanks for the support. I often give them away, or sell them on eBay and put the money back in to the Channel. I also have a big RC Scrap yard in my storage unit, it's handy for when I am building custom stuff :)
Yes, the wood and mud combined make for so very slippery conditions. I also ran it with some Proline Hyrax, and they did perform better, but still struggled on the wet wood.
Im still waiting for my yaris gr. I wanted a black one so i had to wait. I also live in Reno Nevada so, apparently our Toyota dealer doesn't have the allocation needed to just recieve more than one black yaris gr and a dude got there before i did. Cannot wait to get it. Ive already ordered a bunch of warranty cancelling parts as well so, im excited as.
I've been wondering, what's the wheelbase of that kit? The body looks so much like the old nikko fj cruiser hardbody, and is it a hardbody in the first place?😅. Thanks.
It’s definitely a nice looking tru with a really nice detailed body. And seems to be a quality product, but the price is a little off putting because at that price point you have a lot of different options. Good review Phil
It seems like they have improved it a fair bit but at the same time lost a couple good things it's capable Ok but trx4 money 🤔 looking forward to seeing both and get my final thoughts on it .
The ESC looks like a WP1060 RTR. This is sold as Quicrun, but isn't as those have a red heatsink. Internally they are of high quality, so perhaps whitelabel hobbywing?
I have the Absima Sherpa and it's great! Only issues I've had are theini servos dying (presumably due to water damage - they don't appear to have any waterproofing) and the gears in the transfer case have stripped (they are plastic in the gearbox and t/c, not metal). I've ordered metal ones from modelsport. Worth mentioning they seem to stock most/all spares for the Sherpa on there & I assume most spares will fit both 👍
Yes, I noticed the gears were not metal after doing the video (I made 3 before realising). Good you can get metal ones. I might get some and do an update video
@@TomleyRC It only hurts when you kinda like one (I like me the FJ). At least the Redcat Gen 8 is available and cheap and good (not trying to rub it in). It's funny that a couple of those new Chinese crawlers are basically a Gen 8 without portals or a licensed body (and cost more in Canada)

Very similar to the Absima Sherpa are they the same manufacturer?? 😊
Yes..it is the same

Congrats with the new car !! It is better than an FJ Cruiser

2 speed box, remote locking diffs, portal axles, 6 channel radio, full lights and a really nice body. 250? Really?
