Yes 100% agree Lenny. Both good Crawlers, and the Yi-Kong shouldn't be dismissed just because it's a relatively unknown brand. Once the Prolines were on it was unstoppable!
@@TomleyRC for 1:10 scales, how would you rate Axial scx, Absimas cr3.4, trx-4? I’m considering jumping from scx24 to 1:10 scale but not sure where the money is best spent… would prefer brushless in any case.
That’s probably down to Lenny who was driving. And it has the awesome 1080 ESC, makes it nice and smooth. I wanted to test a RTR TRX4, but had to make do with what I had
Both trucks seem to perform well but if I were 2 choose I would get the blue truck. Mainly as I personally had nothing but bad luck with traxxas trucks in the past, lol.
2 years ago the price was the same 😮 I have an orange 21 bronco... car was 599 plus 100 for lights. The Absima Kambra 2 speed lockable diffs, and full light kit is currently 299 if you get green or 10 more for other colours. Crazy. Think I might buy 1, go with the rest of my collection. I used my 8s xmaxx once now that sits un-used 😂 I'm neither a traxxas fan boy nor a hater but they need to either drop the stupid price tag or make it worth the price. Interestingly I made a smallish crawler course in my garden, the "stock" trx4 couldn't climb a wet slippery slope that the "stock" ftx kanyon went straight up. Will have to see how the absima does on it!
I've been running a Yikong 4102 Pro for a wuile and I love it. (mine's actually an Absima (Sherpa 3.4) which is one of the two brands selling that model in Europe, the other one being Amewi). Great build quality, amazing body, full light kit, full spares availability and some upgrades. Other aftermarket brands are also making upgrades for them, which is awesome! :)
Looking at the 4102 pro from Yikong, I am new at the sport of crawling. I see many 1/10 scale crawlers that look exactly the same at the price range ($500-650). Can you please give me why is one better than the other. Yes I understand that motor type (brushless or brushed can change the price. I would like you opinion why is Yikong better that Axial or Traxxas. Are they all made on one manufacturers chassis and everybody buys and tweaks it to there Jeep Rubicon.
@@johnwanhainen3981 My friend, the answer to what makes a better/worse crawler would be a very, very, very long one! And subject to personal preferences. 😁 I suggest you watch some review and comparison videos, for example. It's a hobby with a lot of variables. Motor type is just a tiny part of the equation. Chassis, ESC, axles, drive-train, centre of gravity, steering servo, etc, etc, all influence a car's performance. If I were you, the first question I would try to answer when choosing a model would be: "What do I want the rig for?" Do you want a car with more serious crawling capabilities or something that goes over small obstacles is enough? Do you want to compete or to go have fun in the trails? Do you want a car with a scale, realistic look, or you don't mind that it has a more "robotic" appearance? Just my opinion. 😉 Have fun!
@@just.jose.youtube yes totally understand your response. I guess what I was getting at is YiKong product they produce. I am going to do crawling for fun not competitive. @@johnwanhainen3981 Well, like I said in my original comment, I have an early Absima Sherpa 3.4. Later batches had some differences, shocks for example. (The Amewi brand also sells this model). The parts are identical but the plastics used, between Yikong, Absima, Amewi may be different, for example. Eventhough there may be differences, I think they are pretty similar. Probably produced in the same factories, only the stickers being different. I've had no problems with mine, so far. Some stripped the gearbox plastic gears and had to swap them. Metal ones are available. The "box stock" model is definitely not a "hardcore crawler". It's more a "capable trail truck". Removing the steering dampener for the provided fixed link and getting a stronger servo will improve it's ability in the rocks. My Sherpa came with the original shocks, with inside springs. Those sucked. I believe later batches have regular, outside spring, adjustable shocks. Besides looking for youtube videos for "Absima Sherpa", "Amewi RCX10" and "Yikong 4102", search Facebook groups. Well guess what Mike.... I did compare them lol. I also took the time to take them both to a crawler course and run them side by side so you could see there was not much difference. Tell me more about how the TRX4 is in a different league? Give me some facts 😉👍
You got a live one here, Phil! 😂
@@cobusmeyer9812 Traxxas fans are very loyal to the brand lol. I have pretty much one of everything.... I enjoy running them all and enjoying them all.
Hi i drove the trx4 and the y kong that day I'm not given anything or or sponsored by anyone just an honest review the only thing that let's the y kong down was the OE tyres , spare parts should not be an issue as it's the same as the new Abisma , both are very capable trucks
