Mine was a 2 hour house boat experience and it costed me Rs.2500. This was also the time when the boating race in kerala was about to happen so may be i might be charged slightly more, because it was difficult to find a houseboat that day.

Alleppey or Allappuzha is known as the venetian capital of Kerala and very rightly so! You can cruise along the beautiful backwaters and it is such a refreshing experience. Whenever you plan a trip to Kerala, definitely keep a houseboat experience in your itinerary. It is absolutely worth.
In this video I show you around my houseboat. And it is a 2 hour ride. But even if it was an overnights stay in a houseboat or a day to night tour, you would have a similar feel.

Good decision Shweta that you didn't opt for overnight stay option...my experience with house boat was bad just because choosing overnight stay..the house boats are not moving in the night...and mosquitoes 🦟....that you just can not come out of your bedroom...so experience the house boat in a day time is wonderful 👍👍

Allapuzha and Kumarakom backwaters are too hyped. Overpriced boats, and you get a horrible trip navigating through dirty canals with no good view except some residents brushing their teeth and washing clothes in the canals.

Hi could you tell me was the house boat smelling with fish as I am allergic to that smell. So I will decide accordingly what package to take.
hi..not really..there is the slight smell of the sea, but not fishy at all
If you are allergic to fish smell then I suggest you not to go to kerala as you will find fish smell everywhere at the beaches, houseboat or any restaurant etc bcz sea food is the main food of kerala

If u visit munnar, food might be a big issue for visitor specially vegetarian and north indian. I am able to find out one "patel veg restaurant", which was decent and value for money. They also do home delivery within 10km.

It's not about middle class! Charging Rs.2500 + so there needs to be basic level of hygiene right! And a house boat is probably as much as a few five star hotels in cost 😆
