Doesn't want to use his old splitter because it's 'too slow' I offered to come run it for him, but he refused. I figured slow is better than none at all. Been waiting 3 weeks now.
Jon it keeps me busy but I enjoy it especially with this cooler weather. I agree that doesn’t make much since not using a splitter just because it’s slow. Looks like you would just get further behind. Hope you get the firewood soon take care, Ben.

Your wood looks what is sold as premium here for over 400$ in Albany.

Tonight will be the first time we fire up the fireplace... It's been unusually warm for October. That might be more money in bundles, but also more time-consuming too! Thanks!
Joe It’s hard to believe that you haven’t had a fire yet that’s warm. We turned our heat pump on one morning to knock off the chill but that’s it. We usually don’t have our first fire till that cold rainy day in late October early November. Take care, Ben.
Hello Ben, you are right this is the time of year when firewood is fun, like when you spend the day working on it, then having a fire that night. Good to see your selling a lot, that is a real nice looking stand, the trim really makes it, have a good one, Bud
Keith yes it’s a 1/3 of a cord. Currently $120 if they pick up and $135 delivered plus $1.50 per mile after 10 miles. I think I’m about maxed out due to my location. I get a lot of tire kickers “how much is your firewood oh okay thanks “. I may do more advertising this year now I just do marketplace. Take care, Ben.
I put this stand up a couple months ago I’d have to go back and look at the video for the exact date. The funny thing is the day after this video someone bought all eight bundles and I sold four more the next day. You just never know. Thanks again I’ll see you on the next one.
What’s the dimensions of the $20 stack? I assume you are cutting the wood 16” long - trying to determine how many cubic feet you are selling for $20. Great video!
Glad to hear business is good, I enjoyed watching and seeing your operation. It looks like you have a nice set-up, nice storage sheds, room to expand, nice splitter and a nice side by side, but I have to ask...Why on earth don't you have a window guard on your pickup? I've been cutting, splitting, hauling and burning wood all of my life, and you will toss a log thru that back window sooner or later. One jag of wood delivered would buy you one, or get some square tube and expanded metal and make one. It will happen at the worst time too...ha ha.. alright man, thanks again, stay safe.
Thanks you sir for watching and commenting. I try to keep everything rolling along smoothly. I know it’s just the way we’ve done it my life never really thought about it. On the bright side it will match my windshield lol. Hope to see you again and have a great Thanksgiving take care, Ben.
I sell very few $20 racks, sell a ton of $40 racks, plus a few $80 racks. Haven't started bundles yet because of trying to keep up with the offerings I have now. Taking time off to visit sick and dying family so my roadside stand is empty. I'd rather be with family that chase a dollar.
Sounds like your business is doing good as is might not be worth the time and effort to do bundles. Enjoy your time with your family hope everything works out for the best I’ll be praying for you sir. Take care, Ben.
@@OGAOutdoors, when the person is given weeks to months to live, not much hope. I'd get into bundle sales if can get an acciunt at a local store or gas station, not a chain store. But I'd have to have a lot more inventory to support even one extra location. Is crazy how fast things grew for me.
Bear I try to make sure everything is dry. I think a lot of people sell green wood as seasoned in my area. I get lots of feedback on how well my firewood burns. Take care, Ben.
I used to work for a friend's father's firewood business. We moved about 1,000 face cords a year. Most of the wood was bought already split. We stacked it to dry. He had tractors with front end loaders and dump flatbeds. We avoided stacking wood at customers. This was back in the late 70' s and early 80's a face cord delivered sold for $45.00
Hey Jeff thanks for stopping by. 1000 FC that’s a lot of wood I won’t do near that much maybe 10-15 cords this year. I don’t mind stacking if I can get the truck to the stack. Thanks again take care, Ben.
It seems the whole purpose of the $5/each bundle slot is to promote purchases of the $20 sections! :) I suspect it really increases the perceived value of the $20 slots...
Something like that. I sold bundles first then I built this stand just hoping to improve sales. The loose stacks still make good money and are a lot easier than making bundles. Thanks for stopping by.
Great video, if I may make a suggestion , you might consider editing out a bit more of repetitive content , for example , when your loading or unloading truck just show where u start loading then edit out the middle content & show near the end where you finish loading , hope this idea helps , Thankyou for sharing & God Bless
Thanks for watching and the feedback. Most of my videos I try to edit out a lot. I don’t remember what was in this video to be truthful. I just try to show the highlights of real work getting done. I try my best to avoid just fast forwarding the video and playing RUclips music like most everyone else seems to do. Thanks again take care, Ben.
@@OGAOutdoors yes I totally agree on the music , I’d much rather hear your comments , I’m hoping to start a bundle wood business & your videos are very helpful , I am a subscriber .
It doesn't seem like you are sweating the lack of bundle sales - I think what might be happening is the customer base is changing with the seasons. People need good wood for their stills to cook the mash. a few sticks in a bundle just wont get that job done. It has finally cooled down here at home and the humidity finally dropped below 40% today - last week it was 80% or higher - have a great day - cheers
Bob you’re correct I’m not too worried about the lack of bundles sales. I hope the revenuers don’t come looking for me since I’m providing the firewood for the stills lol. Where are you located to have all that humid weather. Take care, Ben.

Mark thanks appreciate you stopping by. Yes firewood is a neat side hustle. How much will you sell this year I’m guessing I’ll do 15 cords. That’s if I don’t run out of seasoned wood. Take care, Ben.
@@OGAOutdoors somewhere in the neighborhood of 35 to 40 cords it’s a lot of work as you know, tree service delivered to my driveway for free big plus, helps the tree service company out and definitely helps me out!!
@@markficarra8502 Mark I’ve got to start searching out more inventory. I had one tree service but it seems he doesn’t get in the area much anymore. Have a good weekend take care, Ben.
Nice Ben, good to see those $20 bundles going like hot cakes, may be a little less per cord but less time in them too, a good trade off, keep cranking out the firewood.
I find I am good for logs, but Splitting Kindling is annoying. I buy bags of 1" split wood for starting my fires and I seem to go through lots of that? I don't mind spending $5-$10 on a 10lb bag of pre-split logs to 1". I've seen splitter machines, but it is a capital investment and I earn enough to spend $40 a month on Kinderling... 6" x 12" Logs I do myself
@@mwnciboo Yes kindling can be aggravating and time consuming. I used my splitter a couple days ago to make a bunch probably enough to last a couple weeks. I may try to make some small kindling bundles and see if they will sell in the roadside stand. Thanks for watching take care, Ben.
It sounds like the roadside stand is doing good. It looks like the bundle bin is bigger. Can you turn it into another $20 bin, and still have a very small section for bundles. You may even want to consider doing away with the bundles since they are not selling. I'd rather have someone buy $20 of wood instead of a $5 bundle even though it is not as profitable for the larger amount.
I could make another $20 bin and have room maybe. I’m pretty happy with it though. The funny thing is since I posted this video I’ve sold 12 bundles. I’m lucky being here most of the time so I can keep it stocked. Enjoy the rest of your weekend take care, Ben.
We do firewood deliveries in western New York. Many large amounts up to 6.5 face cords at a time. That’s half our business. The other half is bundles. We have 7 different stations for bundles only. We have one that’s superior to the others like that one usually does as much as the others combined. There’s no rhyme or reason either when it comes to the bundles. We just bought a machine though for wrapping once the pandemic started.
Charlie thanks for watching and commenting. Sounds like you’re a busy man. I mostly just sell face cords and keep the stand going. I may do 15 cords this year. The funny thing is after I posted this video I sold twelve bundles the next two days. Thanks again take care, Ben.
When there is no God above the state, the state becomes god (By definition, an idol, a false god)-the highest authority in the lives of those governed.
Mike for sure I’ve got people around here delivering $50-$60 dollars FC. Not me I’m at $120 picked up sold a couple yesterday. This video is very accurate I bet I haven’t sold 5 bundles the past month everyone goes for the loose stacks. I’m thinking of trying to sell some bundles to some stores maybe. Take care, Ben.
Thanks for watching and commenting. I have a lot that I never hear back from after I tell them the prices. That’s fine have to weed them out because there are plenty of customers willing to pay for quality product. Take care, Ben.
Tim thanks for watching and stopping by. This thing has been keeping me busy. I sold out of loose stacks the past two days. Thanks again take care, Ben.
Firewood business is finicky. You may end up selling more bundles at some point. You never know what people want or why. We're in western NC and this change in weather sure is nice. The power company is going to think we went off grid.
Thanks Phil for stopping by really appreciate it. Yes the weather change is great I love it. I can’t wait to have my first fire I will be off grid till about March or at least it will seem that way. Gotta love those low winter time utility bills. Take care, Ben.
Mark I’m guessing it’s a lot different down here in Alabama. Less competition and I’m just selling a limited inventory for top dollar. I’m getting $125 for a FC picked up that is what I’m shooting for mostly pick ups and less deliveries. Take care, Ben.
I charge 160 half cord oak 280 full cord Atlanta firewood sells a full cord 400 plus delivery And with prices of propane going up this winter you decided Don’t want my wood someone will lol
@@larryarnold1282 Yes it should get interesting this winter. I just want the roadside stand to keep moving and sell a few ricks as well. I need some wood to season quickly. Take care, Ben.
So you don’t sell the $5 bundles any more is what you are saying? A bundle is one of those small wrapped groupings of logs down on the right and the bins labeled $20 are called what? The $20 gets you all of the wood in that entire bin? I cut split and stack my own wood; I realize this might sound like a silly question we don’t see roadside stands like this where I live 😬 Great video I take it to mean you no longer sell the $5 bundles. But you still sell larger amounts at $20 per? Is there a name for that quantity? I ask because I only just learned that a bundle had a quasi specific definition I had always thought it just meant “a bunch” but I have just learned that it means roughly five pieces etc. so now I have three units of firewood I know of: cord, face cord and bundle so I am left wondering if the $20 refers to some other term I am not familiar with 🙄🤦♂️
No I still sell the bundles I was just referring to the fact that my customers prefer the $20 loose stacks I call them. All the quantities are based on cubic feet. 128 cf for a cord, 42.6 cf for a FC. Most stores you see sell bundles about .75 cf. Mine run about .9 cf so I just round to 1 makes the math easier. The loose stacks are about 5.5 cf so you get a little more wood for your money compared to the bundles. Thanks for stopping by take care, Ben.
Travis currently in my area I charge $140 to leave the lot then extra for mileage. I called the big firewood business closer to the city and they get $150 picked up. I charge $125 if they pick up. Take care, Ben.
You got $160 for one truck load of firewood? I sell a level pickup truckload for $70. I stacked the first row next to the cab, the rest of the load is just tossed in the truck for a level load. I'm having a hard time keeping up with the orders. I don't advertise its word-of-mouth from my customers. Sounds like I need to raise my prices! Everybody puts too much science in the drying firewood, if I can bang two pieces of wood together it sounds like bowling pins it's dry and ready to go. You do not need no wood moisture meter that's a wasted expense. The idea is how much money I can put in my pocket. And I've never had a customer complain, what gets me is I take great care to keep my wood in my Barnes so that it stays dry for my customers. Then they stack it outside and gets rained on and snow piles up on it go figure. I have a 35 ton log splitter that's the biggest one I could find. And I love it! Thanks for the video and I hope everybody has a nice day.
Yes if you’re not getting some people telling you no I would say you need to raise your prices. I charge $140 to load up and leave then $1.50 per mile after 10 miles. I stack basically the same except I stack across the back then toss the rest in. Thanks for watching take care, Ben.

Kind of a no brainer, 20 bucks for 5 times the wood. Why not make those 30 bucks a stack, we pay that for the same size where we go camping and there's several stands with those and they're all sold out all the time and its garbage, wet wood.
Tim I will pretty much have the hat on all winter going forward. Stick around for more Alabama weather could be 30 degrees in the morning and 70 in the afternoon makes it tough keeping the heater fed. Take care, Ben.

I check in on occasion to see how things are going. ✅Improving processes and expanding.
Thanks really appreciate you watching and stopping by. Yes I’m always trying new ideas and learning as I go. Take care, Ben.
Ben you are such a hard worker and good guy love to all
Thanks Sharon I try to stay busy lol. Thanks so much for watching.
Good morning Ben. What size of pallets did you use to build your stand. Great videos. I appreciate you sharing.
Cesar I’m not sure I went with the most common size I had. I pick them up free every where. 40”x40” maybe I would have to measure. Take care, Ben.
Ben, I appreciate the response. Thank you.
How long have you had the stand up? Maybe split the Bundle section and add another $20 section and a smaller Bundle section. Just my thoughs.....
I put this stand up a couple months ago I’d have to go back and look at the video for the exact date. The funny thing is the day after this video someone bought all eight bundles and I sold four more the next day. You just never know. Thanks again I’ll see you on the next one.
Nice set up you got there.
Thanks for watching and stopping by. Take care, Ben.
this is the time of year I like cutting and splitting wood. I sweat to much in the spring and summer, lol
I agree completely I’ve cut and split all year trying to get ahead and stay ahead. Take care Ben.
What’s the dimensions of the $20 stack? I assume you are cutting the wood 16” long - trying to determine how many cubic feet you are selling for $20. Great video!
John thanks for watching sir. The stacks are 16” wide and 3’ tall. The math works out a little north of 5 cf. Take care, Ben.
Good stuff, I like the road side stand!
Thanks Chris it keeps me busy. It’s fun never know when someone will show up or how much they need. Take care, Ben.
Great video mate
Thanks for the visit.
How big are the stacks?
A little over 5 CF. 36”x16”x16”.
SOUNDS NICE AND DRY
I'm in Scottsboro and I need some firewood if you are close by??
Spencer I appreciate you watching and stopping by. I would like to help you out but I’m about as far west of Huntsville as you are east. Take care, Ben.
Me and you have a lot in common, side hustle for me. I love firewood 😁🔥
Paul yes the stacks are the way to go I’m good with $500 per cord. Thanks for stopping by take care, Ben.
Hey Ben, found this video researching firewood bundles. What are the dimensions of your loose stack $20 bins?
Steve
@@OGAOutdoors LOL, that is how it goes.
Good idea .. i think i am going to start a business for my 13 yo son
Thanks for watching and stopping by. So far I have no complaints it’s doing better than expected. Take care, Ben.
$20? Isnt that overpriced? Do you sell much wood this way?
Quite a bit it’s cheaper than the bundles. Works good easy to fill and less work than the bundles. Take care,Ben.
I didn’t know they had sock hats in Alabama? 😂 Good job buddy! Tis the season! Still gotta be better than battling hornets.
Mike you got that right I’ve been stung too many times lately. Going forward you won’t see me much without the sock hat. Take care, Ben.
Wow......$158 for a 1/3 of a cord would inspire me to get in the firewood business too. That might fetch 80 bucks here.
Ed that was with delivery added on. I’m currently charging $125 picked up. Take care, Ben.
Where are you located?
North Alabama.
When there is no God above the state, the state becomes god (By definition, an idol, a false god)-the highest authority in the lives of those governed.
Thanks for watching.
Looks like healthy living.
Ricky thanks for watching sir. I try to stay busy and live the best I can. Take care, Ben.
I went to selling bundles only too many people selling firewood for $50 per face cord which at that price it isn’t worth my time.
Take care, Ben.
i dont sell anymore, people in my area want truck load for bundle price🤦♂️
Thanks for watching and commenting. I have a lot that I never hear back from after I tell them the prices. That’s fine have to weed them out because there are plenty of customers willing to pay for quality product. Take care, Ben.
160 for that small pile of wood? wtf?
Yeah I’m getting $140 plus mileage for a rick/FC. I’ve got one loaded right now to deliver this morning. Thanks for watching.
I have a stand in front of my house. It sells good enough. I do bundles for only 1 drive through now. Not worth it.
People likely see the larger amount of wood in the 20 "stacks" and feel like they're getting a better deal.
I agree they are getting a little over 5 bundles for the price of 4. Take care, Ben.
That was $158 for a full face cord stacked? Where I live, in Mich, a full face cord for good hardwood is about $60-$75 unstacked
Mark I’m guessing it’s a lot different down here in Alabama. Less competition and I’m just selling a limited inventory for top dollar. I’m getting $125 for a FC picked up that is what I’m shooting for mostly pick ups and less deliveries. Take care, Ben.
I charge 160 half cord oak 280 full cord
Atlanta firewood sells a full cord 400 plus delivery
And with prices of propane going up this winter you decided
Don’t want my wood someone will lol
@@larryarnold1282 Yes it should get interesting this winter. I just want the roadside stand to keep moving and sell a few ricks as well. I need some wood to season quickly. Take care, Ben.
$20 for that much wood is a great deal.
If memory serves me correct the math works out to be around $500 per cord.
So you don’t sell the $5 bundles any more is what you are saying? A bundle is one of those small wrapped groupings of logs down on the right and the bins labeled $20 are called what? The $20 gets you all of the wood in that entire bin?
I cut split and stack my own wood; I realize this might sound like a silly question we don’t see roadside stands like this where I live 😬
Great video I take it to mean you no longer sell the $5 bundles.
I want to know how you talk someone into giving you $160 to deliver one Rick of firewood am I missing something what was so special about that
Travis currently in my area I charge $140 to leave the lot then extra for mileage. I called the big firewood business closer to the city and they get $150 picked up. I charge $125 if they pick up. Take care, Ben.
best splitter ever right there splitfire
I have to agree I guess that is why I have two of them. Thanks for watching take care, Ben.
@@OGAOutdoors thank you for the response. I live in Central Indiana I have the same species of wood that you have. Two other guys sell firewood also and they get $85 a load. I like the mileage charge that you put on there that's a good idea thank you
Your prices are cheap. Do you harvest all the wood on your property. I live in the northeast prices would be double here.
David I just get wood wherever I can tree services, neighbors etc. Take care, Ben.
The weather has been great. It sure is alot better than after about about 15-20 minutes of working having your shirt soaked with sweat
Bryan that is the truth can’t tell you how many days everything I’ve had on has been soaked. I split some yesterday it was still warm but nothing like it has been. Thanks for stopping by take care, Ben.
1 Cord of seasoned firewood in Upstate NY is $60 lol
Wow that wouldn’t pay for gas and oil much less labor. Take care, Ben.
@@OGAOutdoors I can vouch for his statement. I live in upstate NY as well.
There is no money in the wood business here. Lots of woods, and people be supplying themselves with their own wood. Far different story closer to the city though.
I sell half a cubic foot. Make way more money, actually double. Im getting 1200 a cord
Sounds like you’re doing good. I’m really slow in my area. Take care, Ben.
Alot of money for a little wood....160$
I sell cords for 150 picked up
I don’t sell cords most people around here won’t burn that much. I sold one customer 1/2 a cord but mostly just ricks/face cords those go for $125 if they pick up. Take care, Ben.
Hello from Piqua Ohio.
Hey Stanley thanks for stopping by as always. Take care Ben!
Nobody tells the measurements of there wood bins..
I think mine are 16” x 3’. Here’s the link to the video where I built it.

Really think people are watching their dollars more the reason your bundle business has tapered off. I could be wrong. Have a Safe Day
Probably so I know if it was me I would go for the $20 stacks over the bundles. Take care, Ben.
Soooo How did you destroy the business ??????
When I built the new roadside stand I added the loose stacks for $20. Most all of my customers are now buying these instead of the bundles.
Kind of a no brainer, 20 bucks for 5 times the wood. Why not make those 30 bucks a stack, we pay that for the same size where we go camping and there's several stands with those and they're all sold out all the time and its garbage, wet wood.
Just different in my area or location. Things can be slow seems my prices are good for my area.
I thought hat? Why he is got a hat on, normally he is trying to work in the shade! Crazy climate in Alabama but it's a education.
Tim I will pretty much have the hat on all winter going forward. Stick around for more Alabama weather could be 30 degrees in the morning and 70 in the afternoon makes it tough keeping the heater fed. Take care, Ben.

OGA Outdoors I think the comment was actually on your latest video, not this one. That cherry you bought had that ring of well seasoned firewood. Very warm here still - over 60f - and it's nearly Halloween, crazy
talks a lot about nothing
That wasn't even a whole core of firewood $ 168 I better be getting a whole cord it's 4x4 x 8 when I used to seal firewood I fill a truck up to the cab that is a cord of wood

I guess stacking firewood. Had to replace the loose stacks that sold instead of bundles selling.
Probably because you’re doing everything manually.
