I love your cabin and land, this is great for winters snow
Thanks for watching, I’m glad you like it!
I got 4 dogs to take out. Worries me we have deer, cats possums raccoons an coyotes roaming according to our cameras. You seem to have it down pat. Wishing you a Merry Christmas. Hoping you have a wonderful place to spend the day with loved ones.
I've learned to co-exist with the wildlife and try to keep the animals safe, too. Merry Christmas to you and your family!
Yay!! My favorite RUclips notification just popped up. 🎉
Thanks, I hope you enjoy the video!
@@Selkirk_HomesteadI sure did!! ❤
Oh, and Merry Christmas
Merry Christmas
I really enjoy your channel. Peace is a great thing. Merry Christmas
Merry Christmas to you too. Glad you enjoy the channel.
You need a small plastic sled to pull your wood to the house. Saves the back and arms . 👍☺
Have one and a harness for me to pull it. Might give it a try again.
He has an ATV
@@grampsradio and a snowmobile
You are a man at peace in his environment. There’s just nothing like a log cabin in the woods on a snowy morning…with a rooster crowing.
Time for some seasonal decor, a wreath on the door perhaps?
@@graceveenema4762 lol… never been much into that. Would look inviting though. Take care
@@Selkirk_Homestead Raw materials right at your doorstep! A few evergreen boughs, a few cones, some ordinary twine to make a bow and a hook…done!
lol…ok I’ll see what I can do for next Saturdays video…. 😊
I like the just you the dogs and the chickens and don’t forget the simple peace. No cluter 😊
Yes it is! Absolutely beautiful!
@@sylviabennet8665 thanks!
I get up early down here in middle Tennessee, sometimes 3 a.m. Have to wait for sunlight/ around 7, to go feed my chickens. Eggs are over $4 a dozen down here. I have been selling my eggs for $3 a dozen…..quite the deal. Have you ever done a video tour of your cabin? That was be interesting.
I haven’t done an inside tour of my cabin. That’s something you’d be interested in seeing? I’m in a holler and the sun is a little slower getting to me in the morning. Sometimes I get up before sunrise and go out to watch the sun come over the top of the mountain. Beautiful!
Nice that you have a market for your extra eggs. Sounds like we have similar lifestyles.., take care
Hello from E Tennessee- totally agree it’s a “winter wonderland” breathtaking!
Thanks! It's definitely a beautiful time of year here. And no mosquitoes!!!!!
Wonderful video! I know some days are better than others but I always look forward to your posting 😊 I can relate as I've shared before. You are a fine person. Lots of respect to you 😊
Thanks. Take care!
When u say still dark it sure is the snow on the trees around your cabin and chook palace is magical your set up to keep an eye on the chooks is clever especially if the bear comes back stay safe.
Yes, it was a pretty scene that morning. The bear is still sleeping.
Every time you post a new video is primetime for me. Thank you sir 🙏
Appreciate that! Take care and have a good day!
Great video! A small look into your life, thanks for sharing! I agree about the fresh eggs, nothing better! You have a lovely, cozy home! Take care and stay safe and warm! Merry Christmas from Tennessee!
Thanks, Merry Christmas! Stay warm……
Merry Christmas! Enjoy all of your adventures
Merry Christmas to you! I’ve found that having adventures keeps you going….
Hi. It is the second time I look at your video. As love the snow. But we never have snow where I stay. Watching from South Africa. ❤
@@MariaVice-x1m thanks! I love the snow but by April I’m ready for spring. Great to have four weather seasons here. Take care
Hello from Yorkshire. Snow envy.
Nice little channel you have! New sub. Will you be uploading more?
Love the snow but by end of winter I’m ready for spring.
Love your cabin. Glad you don't have to bust a nut harvesting food by the onset of winter like the people on Mountain Men seem to do.
Thanks, me too!
Awesome video, thank you! Season's Greetings.❄️😎🇨🇦✨️❄️🎄🎅🐾🐾
Thanks! Seasons Greetings…take care…
Beautiful peaceful video, so much snow! We don’t get much down here on the Gulf coast . 80* here today. Your chickens look good for being in such cold . What is your water source there?
Chickens are adapted to the environment here. Have a well that gives plenty of water. Was in the San Antonio area two Summers back in the 70s. Remember how humid it was and I prefer the cold over that.
Look, a new project! A moisture deflector above the little chicken door. Is there ever the chance that your cabin could freeze in winter? If so better to keep the eggs in the fridge. My winters don't get that cold so leaving unwashed eggs out is no drama.
Power here goes out on a regular basis lately. Eggs should never freeze if left out though as I keep the cabin warm using the wood stove. Just hard habit to break about putting eggs in fridge. I’ve got to make a few changes to the chicken coop next year. Need a deflector over the door, and a more slanted roof over the egg boxes.
Excellente vidéo Thanks!✨️🎄❄️☃️🎁
@NicolasDudic-ph4kd thank you! Glad you enjoyed it!
Maybe a small awning, over the coop door?
Not a bad idea. The things you don’t think about when you’re building in summer. Merry Christmas
Oh, I have a video on how to make a perfect boiled egg.
Why do you have to put Earl on the leash but not Coal? Beautiful home!
Thanks, Earl doesn’t obey. If loose he will take off and run. One day I was out for a walk with both dogs and the leash broke. Yep, he took off and refused to listen to me. Finally he came back and ran right by me back to the cabin. Earl being a Seppala husky will kill small animals… like chickens. So he’s always on a leash outside. Good observation….
Do you have any alternative energy set up in case the grid fails? My place is all solar. That said, my homes footprint is < 1000 sqft. I use EcoFlow ultra with several batteries and 6 panels. For extended times of poor sunlight, l recharge with gas generator 30amp. Just wondering if you've given it thought.
I had a total offgrid cabin I built about 20 years ago. 100% solar. I’d like to get a solar system for the reasons you describe. They are way cheaper now than when I had mine. No lithium batteries back then. I used golf cart batteries.
@Selkirk_Homestead 20 years ago is lightyear compared to today's tech. From what l hear even to have electric is cost prohibited in some areas.
@ I’d want solar just in case….
I put my eggs n cold cold water after cooking...easier to peel 😊
That is a good tip! I will try that next time.
Yeah, there's snow and cold and Winter can be tough. { I grew up in Upstate New York in the 60's, and early 70's - cold Winters, lots of snow } But, your place sure is beautiful this time of year. Outstanding scenery.........
I love it when the snow falls and everything is quiet. There’s no noise here unless I make it… other than the chickens…lol
May I ask your location? Happy holidays. 🎄❄️
Happy holidays!
Do you ever get lonely? How far to the nearest grocery store? I'd rather buy eggs than deal with the chickens.
Chickens are more something to do than anything else. Eggs are just a little bit of why I have chickens. One of the main reasons I started a channel was to have communication with others from a distance. Like you….
