👍 happy dog 😀
Yes, thanks
Great vid!❤
Thanks
Nice video Coal has WAY to much energy !LOL He makes me tired !😊 Watch out when trapping so Coal won't get in the trap !😊
He does have a lot of energy! I don’t take home when I go out. Also I use live cage traps.
@Selkirk_Homestead Nice ! Be careful ...your not 21 anymore ! 😁
I’m feeling that this winter
What a life And your dog look so "puppy". He's a very young old dog Thx for the vid and your efforts to show us
Nothing stops Cole, not even 18 inches of snow😂😂😂
Good morning my friend. Wow that is alot of snow. But it is so pretty. I love Coal when he is running around in the snow. What is town you stay in. Glad your son came to visit then you not so lonely. Enjoy your day with your son. Take care. Be healthy. God bless you my friend. Maria watching from Sourh Africa. ❤
Thank you, Maria. Coal really loves the snow. This nice when my kids visit.
Chains on the snowblower would work well. Back in the day, {Minnesota snow}, my late hubby had chains for our snowblower. Made a huge difference. You son, an extra pair of hands helps a lot.
He’s a big help when he’s here. He went back to Florida Sunday
Glad to have company
Yep
I know he's old but you don't seem to give your other dog much attention. He needs that now more than ever. I love Coal or Cole?
@@sandraengebretson3821 I’ll need to do a video for you on a day in Earl’s life. You’d be very surprised.
Coal is so happy! You can stay outside until meal time as far as he is concerned. We have snow not only a couple of inches
Have had up to 4’ on the ground this time of year.
Oh yeah, you’ve got snow now!!! That’s a nice snow blower…it does the job! I love watching your dog running around in the snow! He’s SO happy!!!!
Thanks for watching. Coal does love the snow.
A great video!! Thanks for sharing! The drone shots at the beginning are excellent! We can really take in all the beauty!
I appreciate that! I enjoy taking drone footage of the homestead.
Coal was having a good time! Fun to watch him!
He’s great company
Coal literally flies through the snow. He’s like a kangaroo. Have you caught the bobcat prowling around the chicken coop again on the trail cams? Nice you had some company.
@graceveenema4762 coyotes were just behind the cabin, going to watch and see. If they stay away I’ll leave them be
👍👍👍
Many thanks❣so nice🤍🤍🤍🤍🤍
Thank you 😋
Wow 😮 the snow is beautiful! Glad your son come to visit 🤗👍 like your video.
Thanks Joann!
That snow sure hasnt slowed Coal down! 😅 We're in the middle of 5 days of -25C to -20C daytime HIGHS!😂 (-4 f to -13f) - plus snow. Glad your son was up to visit. ❄️👍😎🇨🇦❄️🔥🐾❄️❄️❄️
That's COLD! Hope you are staying warm!
Snow comes in cycles…
Four years ago it was over 4’ here
Last 2 days here (kansas) has been 70°f but suppose to get back to cold ...such weird weather everyone is having. Stay warm friend!
Thanks
It's snowing here in Oregon as I watch this. But not THAT MUCH! I could NEVER trap or hunt animals. I just don't have the heart for that.
It’s not easy but I’ve seen what they can do to my animals. Raccoons wiped out my ducks. Now they’re on my porch.
“ old guy rambles on in the middle of the woods “
Ain’t that the truth….
That is a gorgeous cabin you live in! New subscriber here so I don't know the history of it, if you built it yourself? Being unwell really makes you appreciate the moments when you are well!! Hope you are feeling better. Greetings from Lapland Sweden!
I’ll do a background video of how I ended up here. And yes when you don’t feel well it really makes you appreciate when you do.
Used to haul hay to horse using sled but we haven't had snow (beyond 1/2 inch) in 3 or 4 years where I live now. Remember 6 feet of snow near Sullivan Lake. Water from spring only froze if minus Temps.
Also, would leaving a window cracked for air flow help with your condensation? I do that...chickens aren't too cold from especially with heated dog water bowl....have feathered breed....light brahmas...
Four years ago I had 4 feet of snow. Now not so much. Last 3 years have been around 2 feet. Memories…..
@wreynnwood4097 they were frozen shut. It would help I think.
What type of wood stove do you have? Does it hold overnight and where did you purchase it? Trying to wade through brands, types while deciding what to purchase. Thankyou.
I cut all my own wood. I use what ever is standing dry dead. Best firewood around here seems to be red fir or tamarack. I see most wood cutters going after those and leaving the rest.
@@Selkirk_Homesteadwhat wood stove brand do you have?
@@Selkirk_Homestead yes, red fir and tamarack are the best!!
The stove I use is one that I found cleaning out the home. No markings on it. It does have a vent to bring in fresh air from outside so thinking it’s one from a mobile home? Really have no idea what’s available now.
Thankyou for the answer. I appreciate that. I will be stove hunting soon.
I love your cabin and land, this is great for winters snow
Thanks for watching, I’m glad you like it!
Enjoy the stories and your videos! Coal isn’t very subtle with his ball- my German Shepherd is the same😊
They definitely know how to show their excitement!
Good afternoon my friend looks like you got more snow, words of wisdom I like that take care 👏💪🤗🥶🥶
Thanks for watching. I hope you are staying warm!
I see a few coon pelts hanging on the front. Do you trap too? Enjoyed the vid, another good one!
I do trap. Haven’t so far this year but thinking of setting some traps out because the predators are increasing around here. Seen several coyotes and couple bob cats hanging around
I see you're still playing in the snow. No snow here in my little piece of Oregon but it's COLD out there! How cold is it? It's soooooo cold that my dentures were chattering in the glass this morning! Cymbal strike!
It 9F out now….. feels so much colder now than just a few years ago
@@Selkirk_Homestead It was 23 fat little Fahrenheits when I woke up this morning.
@ cold
Nice weather, but a bit nippy! I hope you're wearing longjohns under them hogwashers!
Thanks for watching!
Great video and words of wisdom. I look at getting wood as good exercise.
It certainly is!
Glad you're feeling better. I agree with the others. I wouldn't call that rambling but more just story sharing, and I'm definitely here for it!
Thanks, appreciate that!
Where did you get the harness? I gather my wood in a small sled it would be nice to have my hands
Bought it couple years ago off of Amazon. It has shoulder and back padding with two hook up rings on the waist area. Fairly inexpensive
@ thanks 😊
Nothing better than watching someone else working. Good to see that you are having a good winter. Stay safe
Thanks 👍
Wish I heard those words of wisdom when I was that age. You were lucky.
Was!
Love hearing ur rambling...words of wisdom can never get old or boring!!! Thank u for sharing!
Thanks! It’s always good to share….
Nice video, true words of wisdom sir
Thank you kindly
Love the banjo music! Nice fur collection. 👍😎🇨🇦🐾🌲❄️🔥
Thanks for watching and the compliments, I’ve always loved banjo music!
We really enjoy watching your videos. Love how patient Coal is ❤
Coal is a big fan of the camera!
I like your stories. Keep telling them.
Thanks, I was kinda worried about too much storytelling
I pray for your health and well-being in everything. Enjoy your videos totally
Thanks
Don't worry about rambling on, that was words to live by! Thanks for the video, you and Coal take care! Gorgeous place!!
Thanks
LOVE your home and outside setup!!!
Thanks
Love the words of wisdom! So true. Sometimes hard to do, but we can try to do as much as we can. Good for you for making your dream come true.
Thanks, somehow life seems to work out. Even with all the downs it has been a good life. Pushing for at least other 20ty…lol
@ me too! Let’s do it! Yay!
nice the way you take care of the hen and your dog
Thanks,
Is the wood burning stove all that you use to heat with?
I have electric heat if I ever need it. I have an abundance of wood so I burn wood and the heat is better.
I love winter and snow but right here where I live in east coast canada we have been getting rain. There is snow in higher elevations but none on my door step. This seems to be the trend for the last 15 years.
I’ve noticed in the last few years the season has changed some . Not getting that hard freeze in early September that would kill off the garden. Now it doesn’t get here till November. January seems to be the coldest month and we would get below 0 Fahrenheit now it is usually above of at coldest. Actually like the change
Awesome way to live.
Thanks, it is a good life
Good morning. Sorry that you ill. Get better soon. Sorry I am late to look at your vidro. We are busy putting new tiles in my house. Have a nice day. My friend. Take care. Be healthy. Enjoy the snow. Love Maria in South Africa. ❤
