As a Killjoy player, the talk about the intent behind setups is actually so useful. I was playing ranked yesterday and I've been watching some KJ vods, but not enough to have setups for every map- and the ones that I DO have I don't fully understand. I was kind of making up setups on the fly, but I have no clue what to consider for a setup, and that segment was kind of enlightening. Gotta consider not just how the enemy team will hit your site but how they can MOVE through it and how best you can control that through info. Can't wait to forget all of that as soon as I hop on ranked.
I'm not a sentinel main but my past self can relate to being too passive (SOVA MAIN) , i used to respect my enemies way too much, like i wouldn't peek in fear of being one tapped. Until i decided to take risks and the difference was massive, i managed to go from being stuck in Plat 3 to Diamond 3 in less than a week.
My problem is that im too bad to play aggressive, training aimlabs and deathmatches so hopefully ill be good enough soon but my aim and crosshair placement is terrible
The true beauty of ur content is that every analogy and concept mentioned in your videos are explained in such structurally fabulous way that not only do I find the essence of those ideas applicable to valorant but to life in general. Keep growing Mr Banana u truly are quality teacher!
it always surprises me when i see people even in immortal making these kinds of mistakes. ive seen a ton of videos targeted to lower elos from other coaching/guide videos talking about these things that you cover with other higher elo vods. really goes to show that the fundamentals are everything
@flytelp Good point. However, Hooj has talked about this at length in many streams. Nobody knows how to play the game properly until Radiant. And even then, low Radiants still play like garbage compared to high Radiants (the RR difference is MASSIVE). And even high Radiants still play bad compared to pros (keep in mind, there are exceptions, but this is the rule). You still have people that don't comm in Radiant, you have mega tilters, throwers, trolls, everything. The biggest difference is gunfights. Knowing how to peak, when to peak, AND being able to hit the shots super consistently will carry people to higher ranks even without the use of util.
@@flytelpAlso, another thing you have to keep in mind is to get to Radiant, you have to be perfect in fundamentals. If you're not, likely, you won't make Radiant.
Thanks for breaking down this concept. This is something I STRUGGLE with as a senti/smokes player. I'm typically overly passive so I started to try to aggro more and failed miserably lol
something that iv heard helps people is to try to start off doing something aggressive but that you can retreat from especially with the help of a duelist then after you take your fight play passive or find another aggressive angle that you can fall back from then passive etc etc
I have been trying to explain this concept to a friend. I described that opening scenario as playing not to lose instead of playing to win. Explaining that sometimes the play you have to make results in you dying to someone that was also told staying alive is most important is such a difficult thing to do and Banana man did it effortlessly. W coach
Tbh, i just had this feeling yesterday, and i hate myself for doing it. It was on breeze, (And mind you, every post plant, the enemy just wanted their frags and came charging at me, I slow walked through doors FOR SOME GOD DAMN REASON, like i should just be running straight to spike and tap that shit, and it keeps replaying in my head, and IT HURTS, 😭
I want to see the situation but for an attacker. My friend always sits behind and watch our whole team 4vs5 while he is too afraid that he won’t be traded if he follows the team during attack. Its not that he is lurking, its that he literally is hiding in the back and aiming to trade players that he ain’t even covering. He plays defence similarly, but more close. Often taking 50/50s and first death on defence. He wants to trade, but never put himself in a position to trade.
thank you of putting that feeling into words of playing the game right but dying and being like “well if i was better i would win” or thinking that what you were doing wasn’t the correct play because you died
Think that’s why I’m better in clutches than me playing regularly now. When I’m in a 1v3, 1v4, even a 1v1 with time pressure, I know that I have to make a play or it’s over regardless. I gotta take a big risk. And yeah, I usually die, but a lot more times than I would think I end up clutching up. I think that’s what playing with confidence does
That's what I call giga entertainment & coaching!! your coaching is never boring. I almost pissed myself laughing in some situations. I need a shower. Thank you!
I always thought the FBA(first bullet accuracy) of the Vandal was quite precise, that's why i pick it to go for the one-taps just cause i enjoy it more ... I actually had been a phantom user when i first started playing but later knew I enjoyed the Vandal more because the 140 thing of the phantom didn't suit me
a cool thing i always feel when watching these videos is like holy shit, i can do this on omen or like skye....its so general but also not general at the same time
2:43 thankyou, i will now fight site with all my life when playing sentinel rather than letting the enemy rotate and kill my teammates then losing my value as a sentinel
Playing passive is starting to become really palpable to me. People being in really unpredictable places. The fact that I get surrounded because they have enough time to flank. A 2v5 site take turning into 3 and 4v5 as they rotate. Playing slow and passive stacks the numbers against me so hard.
That’s why I love playing cypher! I can control the map, have aggressive one ways, and swing off cams! Best way to climb if you got that aim on your side
I constantly have to ask team to follow my push and trade. Especially as yoru on A attack, I run in, flash, enter site and maybe get a kill or two, someone from long range gets me, I just see my team sitting outside site waiting for something to happen... I TOOK CLOSE SITE CONTROL, RUSH, TRADE, DON'T AFK NEAR MAIN.
Like everyone else I also benefited from the passive discussion, but I also got a lot out of the intentional peeking discussion. So often I peek and get killed and think to myself "I didn't expect him to be there." Then why am I bothering to peek it? I need to be more intentional. Tyty
Damm , i just couldn't figure whether woohoojin was actually coaching that guy or me. I do the same shitty mistakes with my killjoy. Damm, i always used to think that i peek correctly like all the pros mentioned about wall peeks abuse and all but then why do i die. And then i blame my reaction time that its slow. But now woohoojin just showed me the sunrise dude. Its actually about reaction. I dont peek with intent. I just peek casually without expecting anybody and then reacting if someone is spotted on my screen . Of course i would lose the fight coz if the enemy has better reaction time and if he is expecting me plus if he has better aim, i would obviously die even if i am abusing peek angles even if i have the advantage. Damm thanx woohoojin. I now know my fault
Its kinda stupid question but, was it better i play aggresive to complete my objective but my teammate always complain whenever i die bcuz of overheating. Or should i play passive and safe?
Way too general of a question, but it is typically better to be more aggressive intentionally and have a goal if that makes sense. Obviously don't int but if your gut says to do something try not doubting yourself. The best way to figure it out is reviewing your gameplay.
Why am i watching this when most likely I play too aggressive, but learning when not to. I love to know where is/see the enemy and it is painful to play passively. I play Skye and chamber like a duelist and I play them better when I actually play a duelist.
Ok but also a sentinel main you also can’t help if you’re on A at the start of defense and your team gets steamrolled B at the start of the round and after 10 seconds have passed & they’re all dead someone’s yelling at you as you’re rotating WHY ARENT YOU B?? THEY’RE B. Like I’m sorry bro I didn’t realize KJ could TP like Omen
Bro i dont know you ,but i watched this video and i agree with you on so many lvls, people bein scared in game thats the most funny part, and its true, and they are not scared of dying, they are scared of beign exposed that they dont deserve rank they are in,and that they probably never practise aiming, and they relay on luck in matchmaking, and about kj players, huh, those are the worst,in 10 kj players in dia 7 will be late for defusing spike
He is not afraid of getting flamed, he is afraid of his team mate's mental braking. You steal an ace in a 2v1 and they start trolling. Also short attention spans, bad English knowledge so they cannot keep up.... Plus the fact they probably won't listen. Add all these (or multiply) and the energy wasted is more than the expected outcome. I still talk a lot though, can't help it.
i think its good to remember youre playing in the same region as the enemy team. just like how its more likely for the enemy team to have bad players theyre also more likely to have griefers, the only thing you can do is your best. playing around this weird perceived meta of trying to keep your teammates sane is never a game worth playing.
this guy is playing more like a cypher player than a kj player, cypher can afford to be a lot more passive but kj thrives swinging off the util (i say this being a cypher enjoyer)
As a sentinel main I feel so called out by the intro and I'm forever grateful.
Sentinel players live in their self affirmation bubble so often. Someone’s gotta tell em

One minute in and your passion for the game is coming out. Lol. Love it.
The objective/subjective failures lesson applies to life in general.
The set up you complained about at the start was the set up that Nats used for like 4 rounds straight in the vod analysis you did of him
