    I don't play a lot of dualist but i can understand this statement about panic aiming what i see a lot with my teammates when they lose duels, because they are insecure about there decision making. Good content Hooj.

    • @lilwage6910

      I think duelists do suffer more from this sort of panic shooting. If they've mained duelist all their lives they surely have forced themselves into so many desperate situations with no plan, no team and all enemies, so they must learn to just flick and shoot desperately whenever you see an enemy gamer (and get good at flicking that way). I think it's a process every duelist must undertake, of learning to trust your team to entry after you and support you, and learning to plan your entry with your team, but more importantly, to make your own personal, selfish plan that every cracked duelist has.

      @@lilwage6910 We play duelist because we have teammate trust issues, so every situation is a 1vX no matter what

      @@lilwage6910 I think this is true. Whenever I play duelist, I start to panic, but when I'm playing initiators and I'm always doing it aggressively, I'm not even panicking and know that I can commit and win every fight I can take. Maybe the mentality of being a duelist is that you should be good at everything, especially fragging and taking space, but you should also think that it's not your fault your team is losing. You should also try to find your teammates support in every fight you take as a duelist; you just can't rely on yourself.

    If you want to go even further with this type of thing, some pro players have taken this to the extreme levels, and rather than anticipation, you can think of it as' readiness.' Not only are they anticipating each fight, but they also know that they _can't_ expect everything, so instead, they maintain a state of 'readiness' to handle surprises. Some people have a natural aptitude for this, but mindfulness and stress management techniques often achieve the mental aspect. Pairing this mental readiness with extensive mechanical training allows players to rely on muscle memory in any given situation. This way, reaction time isn't hindered by processing surprises, and the aim remains smooth because panic isn't getting in the way. The best part is when appropriately executed, you will be reacting in the _fastest_ way humanely possible unless the anticipation is perfect. This means a 90-10 fight in the enemy's favor where they have anticipated you; if their anticipation is slightly off, that 90-10 window can be closed instantly.

      This is the work that good e-sport psychologists do, and I've personally seen a LOUD fan friend of mine mocking their own psychologist for being just "overpaid hype men" when they were at the lock-in finals lmao, and the LOUD players have mentioned and thanked personally their psychologist for plays that they've done *in-game*
      I'm not saying my friend is problematic or nothing but just saying that it's an oft-misunderstood profession

    I think a reason why people panic in a gunfight (when swinging out) is because they don't understand their position of when they swing out. Like during that pistol round, phoenix is swinging out and scared that he's gonna get tapped from anywhere causing him to not be prepared for the gunfight and him to flick around widely locating the enemies onsite. Had he understood the angle he's swinging from and understood that he WILL die no matter what due to how many angles the enemies could be in (Hookah, both tube openings, on top of tube, cubby, behind tube), he would've decisively look at Hookah/cubby for the anti-flash play for half a second or so and then calmly take the fight back corner of the site. With 5 people, there will certainly be at least 1 player in that general area.
    The 2 teammates should've pushed out with him after seeing phoenix make contact, but that's a different discussion entirely.

    This reminds me of learning to counter spawnfights in Tarkov and Hunt, or mindgaming in DBD. If we start the first minute of the match preparing for an unknown enemy position, then when they actually are there, it's already joever for them. Anticipation and readiness is so unfair for the enemy -- works regardless of their experience level. Even if it plays out poorly, that's good info for the next round and potential deja vu value for another match.

Practicing satchels in a custom rn but idk what I'm missing. You talk about raze main energy occasionally. Basically I'm just wondering what you've learned now that you main raze.

    • @PracticalPotato
      @PracticalPotato 9 месяцев назад +1

      I think what Hooj calls Raze main energy comes down to effortless ability usage. When you intend to satchel a certain way, or boom bot something, you should be able to do it while thinking about something else. Giving you the confidence to make plays. A raze main should be practiced enough at their character that the abilities are second nature.

    the best i ever did in a game was when I got tilted at a couple of teammates for being rude to me so i muted them and started to just run into fights, with the intent to either throw or top frag. i didn't care which, i didn't care about winning, they were SO rude to me for my crime of being a girl and giving comms that i just wanted to make them mad in any way i could. and i top fragged! it made me realize that i play too passively a lot of the time (the senti curse. boys got out-fragged by a girl cypher) out of fear of getting surprised, but at the time i was mad and wasn't worrying as much about the very silly "what if they shoot at meeee". it made me realize that a lot of my bad aim is due to just panicking.
