Honestly, still watching vod but I hoped TenZ would go more on attack controller. I feel as though I can do more for my team on controller during attack half. Maybe I'm doing everything right but I don't know that and would love to know if I am or not. Will say I was unaware of the Bind B site CT smoke so that was nice to understand and learn, but I feel as though offense controller is harder because if your team dies to certain angles you start to question if that's due to your poor smokes or if it's just something else. I guess I think too much about who's at fault and try to blame myself more often than not idk. Maybe It's just my plat brain after letting diamond slip from my hands. (I got nervous to play my rankup game and then the hard reset happens 🥲)
on defense try using your smokes to help your teammates take map control. A lot of times this strong map control can be leveraged to give u completely free kills and round winning lurks. Make sure you are alive for the retakes, don't ever die first or the round is basically over. If ur whole team is dead before you feel like you even got to play the game then try switching things up. Tell the morons not to swing main and die 3 seconds into the round lol. Tell ur teammates to play retake positions with their ults etc... The biggest takeaway I would say is that u cannot do shit on your own as controller. It is a support role, and you need to be focused on supporting your teammates and playing around them. trade your teammates and lurk for kills. GG ez defense
This is my personal opinion but in terms of offense, I tend to lurk or be a nuisance to the enemy when I am playing viper on offense. You do have to smoke for your team and listen in to comms when they need your poison wall up or down but the poison orb is a really good smoke since you can pick it up, essentially avoiding from traps and turrets too(eg. Chamber trips, KJ bots). A good example is pearl where you could smoke that gap at B and either cross OR fake a cross to make enemies think that you're holding B main. Essentially forcing them to at least have 1 player watching out for you. Controllers like Brim could push with the team as your stim pack is kinda op when you're pushing a site or a part of the map. Harbor's util are good for taking space since your team could push up behind his Cascade, or you could use your High Tide to make the site harder to retake. His Cove util is not only a good cover when planting spike but you could also use it as a bait, like swinging the enemy when they are trying to break your Cove, catching them off guard. But the most important point is to STAY ALIVE and DO NOT waste all your utils EARLY as your team requires your smoke for an easier time be it for holding a site when the spike is down or blocking vision for entry. If your utils are dry, you could try to be the bait for your teammate and make them play off your contact, being the first to swing for a double peek. (eg. Brim used up all his utils) Comms are always important, you could ask your team where do they plan to push, where do they need smokes for cover, where do you plan to smoke, are your smokes down? Etc. Your smoke Utils as a controller forces people to be wary of the potential push and hence they can't just casually rotate off site without confirming that there's no one pushing up behind the smoke, giving you the control of the space between you and the smoke. Especially if they actually tried to push through and you picked them off, they'd respect your smoke more. That's my personal opinion on controllers tho, there are a lot more you could do with controllers as long as you have the creativity to come up with ideas when a situation is presented to you. (Eg one-ways, camping in smoke, using smoke to avoid util scans or raze bots while you hold up close etc.) Just remember that your main goal is to stall the enemy and make their life hard on offense. That's all from me :D
Imo, the best way to think about it is as follows: What can my agent do, that an out-of-util Brimstone can't? Am I utilizing those specialties? How does the pros take advantage of said strengths? It's a lot of self reflection, and that's uncomfortable for most people, including me, but that's the best most recreateable way to improve at q game, or most skills in life for that matter (excluding the Brimstone part lol)
Keep in mind, surprising the enemy is also useful. Throwing in a kill trip in random rounds can definitely be a good move and net you some kills. But overall, as a cypher info is much more important so on average trips should be info focused for sure
yeah u can do kill trips in other rounds. but it's important that you also spread ur trips in different sites so that you gain more control in terms of info gather.
There’s a tip I learned from playing other games competitively which is essentially never smoke your teammates, always smoke where the enemy has to walk through
ngl im imm1 and play controller and learned some stuff that shoulda been obv... 2:25 specifically. Even when you are up 3 kills this smoke could potential cost the round.
Tbh this is exactly what all valorant players need to understand but then in lower elo the brain is not developed enough to understand and do all this and it really doesn't matter.. most of the times people are not just for the competitive matches but just for some fun games but its pretty good insights. Tenz is best ❤️
well if you don't communicate to your team to hold the smoke then it is a bad smoke, because people get surprised taking backsite and someone is holding from CT. The smoke is good if you already have control and for retaking, but not good for executing. If you are gonna throw that smoke u need to communicate to your teammates how to play around it or else you are kinda being a detriment to them, especially to the duelists.
The beginning. THANK YOU I explain it to my (bronze 2) teammates and they don’t understand why. I explain that it gives us more control and they say yeah but there is still that mid spot. And I try to explain that we control that 😂 and that the enemy doesn’t know where we are so it’s easier to control
in my rank we don’t know that we are supposed to be making each others life easier so knowing what to do is damn near impossible. i know basic things like default smokes, couple of one ways, but knowing how to use util in a more creative way mid round is hard.
18:16 So true! People always use tracker and go "OMG, 0.9kd Reyna instalock gh next" But bro, if I got immortal reyna only with 0.9kd, obviously it's not the kills its the entry, space, coordination, shot-calling and IGL'ing that you don't get from 95% of the average 1.1kd no mic reyna instalock. People judge you based on HS when in fact it's your wirate that matters
@@Krihzak No I mean in the 'better' smoke, can't they still pop out? for example if a skye flashes and jett follows, wouldn't they kill the sova wherever the smoke is?
@@dannijkhe point is that it is a lot harder for them to push through that smoke even if they flash or wrap long. From that distance, you still have cover and space if you get flash. You can disengage from the short fight and fight the flanking enemies from long if they push you. Having those extra options matter a lot more the higher elo you climb.
I always talk a lot as iniator, tell them everything i do, "droning" "wait for my arrow" "i can shock dart this", and then they just yell at me for talking too much and mute me
You have no freaking idea how much I AGREE and keep calling for these plays in game but people are so "used" and "auto piloting" which ruins so many games, bind smoke is one of the best examples
It's really frustrating when you know that but your teammates don't and they'll be like "I have more kills than you you are worse than me" especially in low elo
Then you tell those guys either y’all make sure I don’t die while I’m planting or you guys can plant instead keep it nice and don’t be a dick obviously bc then they will never listen to you or help you in anyway and throw your elo but be straight up about it and honest
My biggest tip for low ranks - Don't follow this play the agents you are comfortable on. Play according to how your team needs it. Bad teammates? Try to play more selfishly. Good teammates? Support them to the max. Selfishly doesnt mean dont use util for team btw. It means if you can use util for yourself instead of team and you will do better off with it then do it else try to support team
Just don’t main Reyna. You’re gonna get hard stuck at diamond once u can’t outaim and outshining potentially requires months and years before u aim diff
@@benballerdidthechain9095i main reyna and i’ve climbed to radiant this comment means nothing buddy. As long as your initiator is creating space for you to follow up on and your team functions as a team there is no problem in playing reyna. npc comments like you to support some agenda😂😂 good luck in your diamond games buddy
You don’t need to be a smoke player to know how to play it properly if anything duelist will know what smokes work best since they’re the ones that push first and rotate the fastest
Theres a huge difference even between radiants. A 800-1000 rr radiant players ( ie. most pros) are much better than even low 450rr radiant players. Its a bigger difference than between plat and ascendant. For a lot of pros, anything below low immo is considered "low rank"
I feel like you need to play duelist if you play a controller player, cause when you only play smokes it’s less obvious which angles you get killed from when you push in first, if you never push in first as a duelist
You can play for kill trips when you are sure the enemy will push site, (like they have a habit), only if there is someone else that are watching other sites and mid too. (Just saying)
It's almost like he said there are situations where it's useful but players default to mostly kill traps I could have sworn that's the point he made (just saying)
Not impossible but very hard. Not every map needs those 3. It’s 2 sentinels already which means a weaker attack in a sense as you are now limited to one duelist, weaker flashes, and no intel seeking util. Not to mention they aren’t very meta sentinels for the current map pools (not saying they are bad agents but usually you wont need both in one team+ kj Sentinal meta is still powerful. so maps like ascent, bind, pearl, split, which need that extra intel or entry flash are coming to be weak in offense and retakes. solo kayo without any other initiator is difficult since he is neither really an info agent nor a team flash agent. I usually pair him up with a skye, fade or sova to follow drone or dog along with the duelist, works well. Again this depends on the players knowledge and understanding of the agent I’ve seen some good immortal kayos solo initiator who set their teams up perfectly with flash plays or intel knifing key areas. By the same token, I’ve seen solo kayos completely become a hinder to their team because of what they lack in kit. You asked for synergy between those 3 but really the only synergy that creates impact is the initiator and duelist since those will be the ones taking first contact both on defense and offense. There is synergy between controllers and sentinels as they control the map but crossing agents is very hard. Think of it this way, your kayo won’t flash your sage or chamber to entry since that’s not their role. Just like your chamber won’t be necessary a Sentinal since it’s kit is more offensive than your average Sentinal on defense and it’s stopping power is weak compared to a sage so it comes down to choosing one or the other. Either way, if you are always going those 3 in a team you will in theory need a smokes and duelist which makes the core very weak imo. The best way I can rephrase what I said is the map needs to justify the 3 agents stacked together. Maps like lotus and haven which are 3 site maps can somewhat justify the 2 sentinels but again having a good KJ or cypher can completely hold 2 site together with their util. Again it’s not impossible but there is redundancy and complexity where it shouldn’t need to. As a immortal 2, I think the best 3 stack (I’m assuming it’s a 3 stack since you ask for the synergy between those 3 agents: kayo, sage, and chamber) would be a intel initiator, a duelist, and a controller. Everyone and their mother knows how to put a wall and orb so sentinels to some extent isn’t very much important, having random teammates lock in an initiator without comms or a lurking/baiting duelist (yoru exception) ruins the game faster than anything I’ve every seen. Having your smokes player not communicate with the team what they are smoking / awful smokes also fucks it up. By having your bases covered your 3 stack can attack, defend, and adapt much easier and better than if the likely scenario you got mute teammates or teammates without brains. Hope this helps 👍 Edit: this is if you really want to improve and take the game and ranked scene seriously. This is at the end of the day, just a game and everyones playstyle is different. have fun with it and try what works best for you.
first point He calls that idea info starve I call it maximum map control. You put the smoke further away so you can hold as much map control as possible and you never smoke your oper granted he is good. You want to keep control of as much of the map as possible and be able to hold it, in an actual comp match where both teams are equal skill aim wise the team that holds more map control always wins. You always think about that ,, when you smoke when you plant when you take a fight. If you plant in a sad corner you lose all map control cause you need to be so close to that spike you are all stuck there, if you do a smart plant that is open for multiple directions , now you can play for bigger map control and enemy has to wonder where is he , if you do a corner side sad plant enemy knows exactly where you are.
I don't think Tenz is 100% right when talking about being aggressive in duelist roles. you can be passive or aggressive in every role, but most of this comes down to selective aggression which makes the duelist players impactful. If I play a duelist and my team wants me to "rush in to create space" on every round then it's way too predictable and you're lucky to get a trade most rounds. I guess he would probably agree with me, but some people think that duelists equals = rush in all rounds to help the team (and that's just stupid).
Duelists kit is supposed to get good kills but there is no need to force yourself to rush everyround for it at the end of the day even if you are baited but you made the impact space for your team they win the round in my opinion
i was telling my teammate the controller thing i played raze, said he needed to control the map so i could effectively take space he just baited the whole team and smoked himself off for exit frags
in one of my recent games, the opposing time, instead of using their Ults as soon as they get it(like most people do) all five of them used their Ults all togather and because of that we were defeated and it was 1-13 noobs are the real probs, especially when they have attitude and dont listen
Theyre most likely gonna listen tho and their usual huge ego just fills up. Im not a pro player but I do agree with what tenz says because some of the info he explains also reveal about my mistakes too.
This is my problem with being stuck around silver 3 and gold 1, I can grasp these concepts and I’ll try to get my teammates to understand them as well but they just do not grasp it and I get red carpet along with Smurfs damn near every game boosting their pocket Sage 😂
Tbh today, there are still controllers that actually freaking smokes the entry and they are silvers 😅 like idc if you are not a controller, but you can think and place yourself as your main and put the smokes based on that

Idk how immo dont have these basics down or at least a rough understanding without going too in depth. Too many times i get an initiator who does the same things tenz is complaining about in this
that the difference between immo and radiants
@@0nlineLiu Big difference, you can get to Immo purely off of mechanics, I did it off of just grinding aim trainers and drilling movement/aim duel mechanics in DMs. I tried to grind from Immo 1 to Immo 3 and literally couldn't break past imm 3 because of the gap between Immo/Radiant. The biggest deference I've noticed is attention to detail and the insane amount of little pieces of info, even something as simple as comming is entirely different at immortal 1 vs radiant.

It’s not that people don’t know this. It’s the fact of the effort the putting in and the ability to take accountability for just going through the motions that day.
@@nathansher6590 Thanks so much for the tips, but do you have any advice for offense? I feel as though I struggle more with that than anything.
(eg. Brim used up all his utils)
Comms are always important, you could ask your team where do they plan to push, where do they need smokes for cover, where do you plan to smoke, are your smokes down?
(Eg one-ways, camping in smoke, using smoke to avoid util scans or raze bots while you hold up close etc.)
Just remember that your main goal is to stall the enemy and make their life hard on offense.
That's all from me :D
Imo, the best way to think about it is as follows:
What can my agent do, that an out-of-util Brimstone can't?
Am I utilizing those specialties?
How does the pros take advantage of said strengths?
It's a lot of self reflection, and that's uncomfortable for most people, including me, but that's the best most recreateable way to improve at q game, or most skills in life for that matter (excluding the Brimstone part lol)
Imma follow the cypher tip I usually double trip C or 1 trip c and garage but I’ll try to spread it further
I usually do garage and b or a and b or just garage and c
Keep in mind, surprising the enemy is also useful. Throwing in a kill trip in random rounds can definitely be a good move and net you some kills. But overall, as a cypher info is much more important so on average trips should be info focused for sure
yeah u can do kill trips in other rounds. but it's important that you also spread ur trips in different sites so that you gain more control in terms of info gather.

Thank you my King!!!

Tenz is actually really articulate.
The first 3 minutes of this video are worth everything already
TenZ sounds so pissed off but I get it😂😂
ngl im imm1 and play controller and learned some stuff that shoulda been obv... 2:25 specifically. Even when you are up 3 kills this smoke could potential cost the round.
41 minutes of telling people not to be stupid. I literally laughed multiple times throughout this
Tbh this is exactly what all valorant players need to understand but then in lower elo the brain is not developed enough to understand and do all this and it really doesn't matter.. most of the times people are not just for the competitive matches but just for some fun games but its pretty good insights. Tenz is best ❤️
7:45 just dont pop flashes in their vision cone
last time I smoke the exact spot that Tyson showed, and my teammate blame me a bad smoke LOL
Lmao
well if you don't communicate to your team to hold the smoke then it is a bad smoke, because people get surprised taking backsite and someone is holding from CT. The smoke is good if you already have control and for retaking, but not good for executing. If you are gonna throw that smoke u need to communicate to your teammates how to play around it or else you are kinda being a detriment to them, especially to the duelists.
its very situational
The beginning. THANK YOU I explain it to my (bronze 2) teammates and they don’t understand why. I explain that it gives us more control and they say yeah but there is still that mid spot. And I try to explain that we control that 😂 and that the enemy doesn’t know where we are so it’s easier to control
And someone says Tenz streams are boring ( on Sinatraa's stream)

Yeah, they arent boring, they need to watch his stream instead of assuming

So true!
People always use tracker and go "OMG, 0.9kd Reyna instalock gh next"

People judge you based on HS when in fact it's your wirate that matters
1:24 Can't they just flash out of the smoke and kill the sova?
They can do it thats what he means by popping out of the smoke
@@Krihzak No I mean in the 'better' smoke, can't they still pop out? for example if a skye flashes and jett follows, wouldn't they kill the sova wherever the smoke is?
@@dannijkhe point is that it is a lot harder for them to push through that smoke even if they flash or wrap long. From that distance, you still have cover and space if you get flash. You can disengage from the short fight and fight the flanking enemies from long if they push you. Having those extra options matter a lot more the higher elo you climb.
i just started a couple months ago and i know all this from just playing. My problem is mechanics i can't win straight up 1v1's to save my life.
3:10 The Roast by tenz, lmao
It's really frustrating when you know that but your teammates don't and they'll be like "I have more kills than you you are worse than me" especially in low elo
I love how I have three people watch in site, I planting and still got kill by enemy and got blame for lost by not planting in time because I'm dead 😊
Then you tell those guys either y’all make sure I don’t die while I’m planting or you guys can plant instead keep it nice and don’t be a dick obviously bc then they will never listen to you or help you in anyway and throw your elo but be straight up about it and honest
@@Willy_Gee bro said dont be a dick and be honest. lol.
Yup
do you refer to low elo (im my eyes everything below high immo3) or like, low, low elo (idk below plat or where ever you want to draw the line)

Low immo is prob low rank to them, 200rr+ is like mid high elo
Depends on your perspective tbh
This is why I'm iron 2 and not iron 1
idk, anything below like 300rr is just completely brainless.
I feel like you need to play duelist if you play a controller player, cause when you only play smokes it’s less obvious which angles you get killed from when you push in first, if you never push in first as a duelist
This is fire
You can play for kill trips when you are sure the enemy will push site, (like they have a habit), only if there is someone else that are watching other sites and mid too. (Just saying)
It's almost like he said there are situations where it's useful but players default to mostly kill traps
I could have sworn that's the point he made (just saying)
anyone counted the number of times tenz sighed?
Anyone know the best way to synergize the trio Kayo Sage and Chamber?
Hope this helps 👍
Edit: this is if you really want to improve and take the game and ranked scene seriously. This is at the end of the day, just a game and everyones playstyle is different. have fun with it and try what works best for you.
What website is that? Is there a similar website that I could use for something like this?
Damn nice info
atleast i think if you play initiator you should also have some igl qualities. Like the initiator should literally lead the push of team
All this and my ranked teammates never do this or listen to comms.
For real
first point
He calls that idea info starve I call it maximum map control.
If you plant in a sad corner you lose all map control cause you need to be so close to that spike you are all stuck there, if you do a smart plant that is open for multiple directions , now you can play for bigger map control and enemy has to wonder where is he , if you do a corner side sad plant enemy knows exactly where you are.
why is the screen blacks
did he record this after losing a tournament
My teammates at gold and plat don’t understand this 2:19
