Thanks for the video JT. My parents and extended family are from Southeast London and my aunt lived on the Aylesbury Estate at some point probably somewhere around the sixties or seventies I imagine so she may have even been one of the first tenants there. I can't remember if I ever visited as I was born in the mid seventies. I can definitely remember seeing the place with my own eyes at some stage though but I wasn't interested in these places then as I am now so I wouldn't have paid it much interest at the time. I used to visit London often to see my Nan and other relatives so I roughly know the area although it's been a long time now so the memories are fading a bit. I do remember visiting a family friend at the Heygate Estate sometime in the early eighties. Being young at the time though I don't remember paying the place much attention but I remember feeling a bit nervous walking around there even though I was with my parents. I think it was the eighties when these estates started to decline and stories were coming out about the unsociable behaviour (which may be true or false of course) but it did unnerve me a bit being there lol.
If your flat is next to an abandoned one, you can knock the wall through and make an extension, nobody will question it because its supposed to be permanently abandoned 😂
Hey jt i enjoy all your videos that you do i want share with you that flats in Gowktherapple wishaw are getting nocked down as there gas flats as 2 blocks away 14 still go
Who are you referring to at ruclips.net/video/DWW5QfahhoQ/видео.html ? Otherwise, great video dude. I had a little look around the estate, including the blocks you went in and was fascinated by it to be fair. A real shame it's going to be replaced by housing that the original residents probably won't be able to afford. I was extremely nervous going up those stairs on my own though, ha.
All the poor people have been driven out of Elephant and Castle by greed. The buildings they put on this land are like 2,000 a month rent for a basic flat. A friend of mine lived on the estate near this called the Heygate estate that was knocked down like a decade ago. His mom got moved out to a rough housing estate in Croydon.
With you there! Aylesbury estate one of my favourites. I would love to see it in person!
I live there and its nice
