2:30 it does count as war since the insurgency by the multiple militant groups in Jammu and Kashmir are still around. Wars aren't just two countries fighting each other its also political conflict inside of a country
I have said it before. India doesnt need to cut ties with Russia, just Putin. A post putin world is the restoration of the benefits lost to India from this war.
Regarding the border question, it's kind of a mix of a few things. 1. The border is long and most of the border is desert. Hard to cover all of it. 2. The cartels are very good at using our laws against us. For instance, we have pretty outdated asylum laws from the Cold War when the main concern was political refugees from the Soviet Union that basically require those seeking asylum to remain in the country while their claims are processed. 3. Our immigration courts are super overworked and have been for years which means that deportations are often a very slow process. Add this to 2 and you can see how this can and has been abused. Trump did have his "Remain in Mexico" Policy during COVID but really it's Congress's fault that this hasn't been fixed because the loophole they exploit is written into the law itself and so they're the only ones that can fix it. Congress proposed a bipartisan bill that would tighten and rework the asylum laws to give the DHS much more leeway in keeping migrants out of the country but it died in the Senate in May due to opposition from immigration hardliners who didn't think it went far enough. TLDR: Because are asylum laws are outdated and attempts to make them more responsive to current issues got caught up in politics because some politicians are letting perfect be the enemy of good.
2025's gonna be interesting year. While still below other times, last year felt like a major turning point geopolitically. Kind of the end of the 2010s, a lot of the crises being able to directly or indirectly tied to the 2011 Arab Spring. This year even ended with the end of the Syrian Civil War as a bookend.
The reason the United States has such a problem with its border his number one were the most open country to visitors and people crossing back and forth whether it be for tourism or commercial reasons. Second reason would be the United States is the promised land and when you have poor people trying to get into a well-off land better their lives they will go to extreme lengths to get there. I don't think India has the same problem as we can see many Indians leave to come to the United States
This isn't a good time of year to be in the waters of the Taiwan Strait. People tend to ignore the scale of China's housing & other crises. State owned enterprises & local/regional govt authorities are HUGELY in debt. The CCP keeps those numbers out of its national account, but it's ultimately its debt -- and again, MASSIVE.
China & Russia must be isolated from the vast majority of the global economy. In the past the world did quite well without cheap Chinese manufacturing; with a little decoupling time, it can do so again. India needs Russian oil/gas now, but the US is increasing production; if Canada, etc. would do so, too, India wouldn't need Russia.
