Kind of surprised how you forgot to mention that the Sassanid persians had yemeni allies and the area is noted on maps as having been part of the Sasanian empire. Meaning Iranian influence or control of Yemen goes back centuries. Interestingly that was before Islam appeared in the area. They understood the strategic location Yemen had, just as they do now.
It was just a couple of decades, not a major period in Yemen’s history, and the influence was concentrated only on some parts of the far north, while the other Yemeni lands were controlled by Yemenis.
I am from South Yemen, and thank you for this documentary. You mentioned many facts, but I would like to comment on a topic that you may not have mentioned. At the time of British colonization, South Yemen was divided into sultanates. Then the British united these sultanates in South Yemen and established the state of the Emirates of South Arabia in The end of the fifties, the beginning of the sixties, but in the end, the National Front and its followers were the ones who took control and imposed themselves on the ground. Therefore, the British handed over power to them after independence in November of 1967 in Geneva, Switzerland. This is for history. My grandparents were sheikhs from the Shabwa region, specifically the Upper Al-Awlaqi sheikhdom!
Greets! Looking forward to the next. In Twitter chat with a retired airforce Lt Gen, the question today arose of whether the Saudis' attacks were really all that harsh and/or that effective. ^5
That was a good summery, however, there's a slight correction to be made. Asir in Saudi Arabia was never part of Yaman, contrary to what some claim. The confusion often happens amongst historians because in pre and early Islamic history, all the southern parts of the Arabian Peninsula were referred to as Yaman. This is well before the establishment of any form of the Yamani state. I hope that one day Yaman will become a peaceful place and that we can all enjoy the beauty of its land and its people ...
Thank you to the owner of the channel for this great effort in producing this documentary, but there is a note, which is to delve deeper into the topic, because some things are exaggerated.

You really didn't cover Ibrahim Al Hamdi well at all... Not only did you avoid mentioning his achievments, but broadly analyzed his assassination and its impact on Yemen.
There are many countries currently attacking Yemen and they still wish Yemen all evil and misfortunes, such as “Saudi Arabia, the Emirates, America, Iran...” 🤍.
Perhaps not a 'serious' comment by any means, but I feel compelled to say that the animations of the Kalashnikov 'shootouts' between faces of leaders on cards, kinda cracked me up 😆
When South Yemen united with the North, this was the biggest mistake. As a southern citizen in South Yemen, we want to disengage from North Yemen. And restore South Yemen to what it was before, an independent country. Soon, South Yemen will declare its second independence.
Us Yemenis are truly pathetic. Wish we could just go to an Imamate based on the Quran and Sunnah let go of this disease called "Nationalism". If by South yemen you mean Socialist Yemen, then you are even lower in the barrel of integrity

In Twitter chat with a retired airforce Lt Gen, the question today arose of whether the Saudis' attacks were really all that harsh and/or that effective.

hope you do a video on the italian city states and the British Agricultural revolution
I'm from Yemen. We welcome you to our country at any time.❤❤
I am from South Yemen. The Soviet Union did not sell its friends easily. It was a wonderful ally for us. They were beautiful memories that will never be forgotten.🇾🇪☆❤🇷🇺
It's kind of adorably naive that you think the Soviets had ""friends".
@@JamesiaInc There were very close relationships
@@JamesiaIncmany people around the world have fond memories and positive views of the USSR, my family included. It’s adorably naive to think that your Western anti-communist propagandistic viewpoint would be shared by everyone around the world.
I am a southern Yemeni, Abdel Fattah Ismail, of northern origins. He is the reason for the collapse of the southern state and the occurrence of the strife of 1986. 😊

Such a great choice content, AMAZING
May i ask what is name of the background music starting minute 16 , its really nice and matches the contet perfectly
You really didn't cover Ibrahim Al Hamdi well at all... Not only did you avoid mentioning his achievments, but broadly analyzed his assassination and its impact on Yemen.

Damn, how things can go so wrong in a matter of not even one generation. What a sad, but cautionery tale.
There are many countries currently attacking Yemen and they still wish Yemen all evil and misfortunes, such as “Saudi Arabia, the Emirates, America, Iran...” 🤍.
Perhaps not a 'serious' comment by any means, but I feel compelled to say that the animations of the Kalashnikov 'shootouts' between faces of leaders on cards, kinda cracked me up 😆
Call an ambulance, *but not for me*
thank u for this amazing video

"Yeah man... Thanks for tuning in"
Part 2, please
When South Yemen united with the North, this was the biggest mistake. As a southern citizen in South Yemen, we want to disengage from North Yemen. And restore South Yemen to what it was before, an independent country. Soon, South Yemen will declare its second independence.
Us Yemenis are truly pathetic. Wish we could just go to an Imamate based on the Quran and Sunnah let go of this disease called "Nationalism". If by South yemen you mean Socialist Yemen, then you are even lower in the barrel of integrity
Time will tell 😂
@@MAYONNAISEMOOSE

So much great content coming out recently! Just a question though. It seems the only way for me to find this video is by clicking on the link in the post you guys made with your schedule for the next couple weeks. It doesn’t seem to appear in the list of recent videos on the channel, which doesn’t make much sense to me😅 Is there any other way I can easily find this video if I wanna watch it again in the future?

I found it on my subscription list
Ah I see. It appears on the normal list of videos from the channel now👍🏼
It'd be cool if you make a documentary on the Israel-Hezbollah 2006 war
Yes. I have wanted for K&G to make that video ever since they started making videos about modern conflicts
Long story short, Israel targeted civilians while lebanon targeted actual military targets and were extremely successful. Israel was soundly defeated by lebanon for the third time and will be defeated a 4th time if they attempt to invade lebanon again.
@DougieFresh1414 lol literally everything you said are lies. But yeah didn't expect much more from antisemites 😂
watch what happens now in Gaza pretty much the same Israel airstriked the cities and when the infantry got in they got in their asses kicked
@@DougieFresh1414Hezbollah fired rockets into northern Israel which mostly killed civilians, while Israel invaded southern Lebanon and caused massive destruction to the country, but didn't manage to make Hezbollah withdraw it's forces. War lasted for a month, 121 IDF troops were killed along with 44 Israeli civilians, many of whom Arab Israelis living in northern Israel, while approximately 500-800 Hezbollah terrorists and 1100 Lebanese civilians died.

The Yemen Civil war has more changing alliances than Game of Thrones.
3:55 A little error here, Yemen didnt joined the UAR, but the Arab Federation, alongside the two (then) monarchies of Jordan and Iraq
My relatives from my mother's side are originally from Yemen most of whom were born and grew up in Eritrea during the Civil War. They always say they wished King Abdul Aziz conquered Yemen.
Although he took Asir, Jazan, and Najran, he did not intend to advance in Yemen, even if he wanted he wouldn't have been able to take it.
By the time he took all those provinces, he was in his late 50s. Going against the formal British protectorate would have been a suicide mission. Let's not forget Abdul Aziz conquered on the back of horses and camels when Aden was a mini London in the Middle East.
@@wisestcrazyboy He wouldn't have been able to take Sanaa to go deep into Aden. Yemen is very mountanious with large population, the regions he took were against the mutwakilite dynasty so they helped him against them, but the rest of Yemen would be extremely difficult to advance through.
I simply love this channel ..
Thanks for your interest

Yemeni history is so rich, tragic, vast and complicated it could be seen as the entire history of the region in a kind of nutshell.
I’m watching this video from Yemen 🇾🇪
Yemen has the most interesting history. Everyone must read about Yemen

At least I know where the joke from The Life of Brian about the People's Republic of Judea comes from.
I do not think so. First it was more Peoples Front of Judea, second I believe it was more a historical joke about the various factions in Judea during the time Life of Brian is located (in the 60s AD for example the various groups did in part fight each other even inside Jerusalem while the Romans were alredy crushing one rebel stronghold after the other).
