    Perfect! Thank you so much for your tips using an iron. I never had any intention to do T-shirts but some "Everyday Iron on " came with my newly purchased Maker, so bought a cheap T-shirt and followed your instructions. I have put my sons name of his band and a graphic on it. It took really quickly, I did turn down the heat a tad, and used a clean wooden chopping board to press onto. Followed the 30 second tip, and the transfer paper started to come away cleanly. Fab! Bet the rest of the band will want one now - what have I started?

    I tried this and it didn't work well. At my cotton setting, the plastic backing warped, making the image warp. I believe the reason is that my over 20 year old iron runs hotter than other newer models. So putting it on the cotton setting isn't even it's highest available setting. I dropped the temp down a notch and it worked okay. Just in case someone else was having issues definitely do a test run.

      Regular household irons do not work well with HTV. They have such uneven heat distribution, you never know which part of the design is heated/adhered properly because of this. Also you never know what temperature your Iron is actually at, making it hard to properly adhere your design. We HIGHLY recommend getting a Cricut EasyPress Mini: amzn.to/2zvjW9D for all of your HTV projects :)

    • @MakersGonnaLearn
      @MakersGonnaLearn  3 года назад +2

      So, the issue with household irons is that it's so hard to gauge what the "highest cotton" setting is, so sometimes it's way too hot, but there's no regulation with the brands. Maybe start with using a sheet of butcher paper or parchment to be a barrier?

      Oh no!! Sounds like your iron was just too hot. Unfortunately we've been seeing more and more issues with using HTV with a household iron that we've stopped recommending it :( The biggest reason we made this video was because at the time EasyPresses were so expensive, but they aren't anymore! Household Irons have such uneven heat distribution, you never know which part of the design is heated/adhered properly because of this. Also you never know what temperature your Iron is actually at, making it hard to properly adhere your design. We HIGHLY recommend getting a Cricut EasyPress Mini: amzn.to/2zvjW9D for all of your HTV projects :)

      Totally doesn't work with my household iron....I'm guessing I'm not the only one you probably should add a warning!

      @@dianebeaudoin7831 Listen it works with a regular iron and a wooden board works perfectly. No towels folded on top or pillowcase no i just put T shirt directly on top of wooden 📦 and its perfect. Also I have used Glow in dark HTV with white backing and a sheet to put on top of HTV when ironing. Came with NO Real directions so I learned through trial and error and looking at pics with a 1 word description (directions?). Also mine came with a reusable teflon sheet. I put my design with color facing me whjte backing on Tshirt. Then I ironed with teflon sheet over the vinyl. After it started to bubble I let it cool down and peeled off top clear bubbly sheet. The wént over it again with paper over the design.

    This was a great video! Is it possible to over-iron the vinyl (having the heat applied too long?).

      With a household iron it is possible, because it has such uneven heat... we highly recommend if you don't have an EasyPress to get a mini. Cricut EasyPress Mini: amzn.to/2zvjW9D
