The ballet turn is the Chaines Turn. It's done quickly for flow & usually on point shoes but in ballet slippers too. Arms are in first position. The turn is done on a diagonal & is very pretty!
do coaches normally make ur program? do they ask u what u want to do? my coach asked me if i wanted to compete soon and i said yessss aaaaaaaaa im scaredish
cant wait to try these out my next practice session. these moves are beautiful! once i get these down, i'll definitely be trying the ones in the next video

Hi Coach Julia! I am a former competitive skater in my youth (20 years ago) and got back to skating a few months ago. While my muscle memory is coming back, I’m finding it hard to do just to hold an edge on a big hockey circle, I can hold my edges fine on tight circles but my body just wants to turn me into or away from the circle no matter how much I hold my arms and core. Any tips? I love your videos they’re so helpful! My coach here in nj is Olympian Jojo Starbuck who I love but I can only do lessons once a week.
Can you also make a video on how to do an axel off ice? I am getting the rotation on mine and when I land it it's great but have absolutely horrible technique and can't progress 😔
Thanks so much for making all these toe pick videos! (Ps....I recently updated my profile to my social media nick name "deester dee" - but this is Denise P. ;)
Hey Julia! Do you have any tips on how i can stay on my axis? When doing spins and jumps i find myself severely off my axis from all the rotation and need some help!
Why is the public at large ignorant of Janet Lynn--even professional skater commentators recently didn't mention her when briefly listing the greats in female figure skating, perhaps because she never won an Olympic gold medal or world championship, when the system was different, and the public only recognizes those champions? Ironic that the coach of at least one of those Champion skaters (Tara Lipinski) who are commentating now compared Tara to Janet, and Michelle Kwan's coach Frank Carroll told the New York Times, while he was coaching her, that Janet Lynn was the greatest American figure skater he had ever witnessed. Tolller Cranston once said that Janet was the best female figures he had ever seen. John Curry was in awe of her and had students watch her performances--he also performed with her. Brian Boitano, who had never seen her perform, watching old video of her skating, was amazed and said he it was going to incorporate some of the things he saw her do.

lean into the circle, like ur skate should be a little bent into the circle and keep ur arms leaning into it
