Hey buddy. Honestly, I tried for years to sound like Het and I got nowhere. I sung death metal for about eight years and when I finally revisited Metallica, I found it was pretty easy for me considering how hard I had to scream in the bands I was in. Now, I wouldn't recommend doing hardcore death vocals in order to later sing Metallica, but it's what worked for me. It's tough because everyone needs to do something different to get good results. I tell my throat to go somewhere in between.
