Paige, your video about faces has such an important message people need to hear. THATS why it got 6.8 million views. Everyone’s face is beautiful in their own unique way.
Hello Paige, I really dig your videos and they have given me a special insight on Autism. This topic is really important to me for 2 reasons. 1) I'm a camp counselor at a camp for children with Special Needs (sorry I know you hate that word but that's what they call it). We deal with kids with Autism, Down Syndrome, Aspergers, ADHD. We also deal with kids with Depression and Foster children. This has honestly changed my life for the better and I have gained skills from it. 2) When I was little I was always different. I always felt that I had something like ADHD but people never really listened. My job as a counselor has changed how I see myself because I now believe that there may be a possibility that I have Autistic Spectrum Disorder. I don't wanna say that I have it because that would be self diagnosing and that's a no-no. Seeing the behaviors of the autistic kids made me realize that I have similar behaviors. I have stims like wiggling my fingers, flapping my hands, playing with my arm and leg hair, and jumping up and down when I'm excited about something. I'm also always pacing. I also have visual stims like the way water moves (my house also has a fake fireplace that I turn on to look at the fire because I like how it moves). I also have my special interests which is movies, theatre, and writing. I may also have echolalia and palilalia because I quote things at random times and I repeat myself. I also suck at making friends. I could be over-thinking this and I'm probably just weird lol but it refuses to leave my head. I'm telling you this because I feel like you would understand better than my parents would (I love them to death but they really don't understand these topics). Thanks for what you do and never change. Stay Breezy.
Sorry, I know I am not Paige and therefore your comment was not directed to me but I couldn’t help - being autistic myself and having too, a RUclips channel about it- that Self diagnosis is not a no-no at all! Getting a diagnosis is hard. And autistic people who don’t know they are often feel alone, alienated from the rest of the world. Understanding why they are the way the are, seeing that they actually are not alone and being able to relate to a community can bring comfort and a sense of belonging that they have been longing for. And sometimes it happens by just reading about autism or meeting other autistic people. So there is nothing wrong to consider the idea, if you do relate to autistic people and fit the characteristics to consider you might actually be part of our community. What is annoying is when people hear about ONE minor element of one autistic person they have in common and go “so maybe I am autistic too!” Or comments such as “aren’t we all a bit autistic?”. That’s where it gets cringey and quite offensive. Also, Asperger’s and autism are the same thing. Actually in some countries like the US (I am European but I have heard enough American autistic people explaining it) the Asperger’s thing has been removed as a diagnosis. Now, I am not against it unlike many members of our community, I was diagnosed with it but it’s important to understand that it is autism. The use of the term Asperger’s is triggering for some members of the community due to the shady past of H. Asperger (he did research for the Nazis, now the question is, was he doing it willingly or was he forced to? We might never know) and because of the false idea it gives that there are high functioning and low functioning types of autism. That’s ignorant. For example: I might appear as what they refer as high functioning most of the time but it’s bc people don’t see how much efforts it takes me to appear as such and it doesn’t prevent me to have selective mutism in stressful situations. Finally, please may you avoid using the word “disorder”? I know that’s how it is called in the DSM and all but that’s ableist and offensive. Disorder has a bad connotation like sth is wrong or broken and needs fixing. Autistic people are not mistakes or broken. We are just different. That’s why the majority of our community wants this word to be avoided and prefer the word “condition”. Anyway, hope you find what you need and keep up the good work! :)
Hi Idk if this would help but im in the midst of my diagnosis, im from UK so i have to wait 2years for the final assessment and papers that say ‘yes autistic’ or no. But what they used to assess whether i should get the full assessment or not was AQ test and EQ test. You can find them on google and theyre both around 50 questions long. This might be helpful to give you some guidance as to whether or not you have autistic traits, as you said you wasnt sure. Im not sure where you’re from as i know the diagnostic process is different in different countries but these tests are good indicators as to whether or not you should further look into ASD or not. There are other tests that people use to help self diagnosing these are RDOS test and RAAD-R However as far as i am aware these are not officially used by professionals in the diagnosis process but it did help me gain a better insight into myself. One thing i will say is if you an official diagnosis is not accessible self diagnosis is okay as long as you are doing thorough research and have a good understanding. If youre anything like me learning about autism will become your new special interest 😂but try not to focus too much on the questionnaires answers as theyre only useful as like a baseline. But bc of these questionnaires and watching fellow autistic creators and learning more about Autism in general while waiting for my official diagnosis i can pretty confidently ‘self diagnosis’ there are still some days where i doubt myself and believe im over exaggerating but then i remind myself of the DSM criteria and the questionnaires and how much i relate and think i wouldnt be able to tick all these boxes nor would i be getting further diagnosis if i was faking this. But from what ive heard that is pretty common for people when trying to understand themselves in general let alone with a diagnosis. But I hope this all helps☺️
P. S.: this has been SUPER useful; I was thinking of creating a new account for my business (I'm a therapist), but I might give my few peeps a heads up and just start over... Pls remember my face/name of whatever you can haha as you were crucial for my very recent learning that I'm in the spectrum (officially diagnosed on June 29th! i kind of think people only wanting autism content from you is kind of weird. part of representation is showing your autistic self living your best life, and also dealing with challenges, etc. You're a whole person and i think it's kind of ignorant to expect you to be just one thing
I know this isn't directly related to the video, but I have to say it somewhere: People with high-functioning autism ARE allowed to say the R slur, and do identify with the R slur. As a high-functioning autistic person, when I was younger, I got called that word so damn much that I began to hate people with special needs, and didn't want to be associated with special needs anymore. So , to become normal, I began to genuinely hate mentally disabled people, and used the R slur every time I complained about something, and I constantly complained about and mocked special needs students at my school. For months, I rarely used the words, "stupid" "dumb" or, "idiot". I almost always used the R slur instead. And every time someone else called me the R slur, it made me incredibly insecure, and it made me even more desperate to hide my own autism. I even believed genuinely that my high functioning autism made me less intelligent than I would be without it. TL;DR: I HAVE SUFFERED GENUINELY FROM THE R SLUR, AND FOR OTHER DISABLED PEOPLE TO TELL ME THAT I DON'T IDENTIFY WITH IT BECAUSE I'M NOT THE, "RIGHT KIND" OF AUTISM IS DEVALIDATING!
@Alice I'm saying that high functioning autistic people do identify with the r slur and that to tell us we don't because we're, "not autistic enough" is devalidating. When I was younger I suffered from that word constantly, and I'm high functioning. And also, I find it ironic that you say that word is horrible to use, but you used it at least twice in your response just now.
@Alice First off, retard is a slur, not like the n word, but it's a lot like calling someone a, "faggot". Second off, most of the people saying that autistic people can't say the r slur are autistic themselves and just want to feel like they're better than someone. That includes you.

i kind of think people only wanting autism content from you is kind of weird. part of representation is showing your autistic self living your best life, and also dealing with challenges, etc. You're a whole person and i think it's kind of ignorant to expect you to be just one thing
canada dont pay tik tokers
I love your videos I’m autistic to and I would make me so happy if you would respond
Tip #1: Be attractive
Well yes. Paige has a natural advantage.
I know this isn't directly related to the video, but I have to say it somewhere:
People with high-functioning autism ARE allowed to say the R slur, and do identify with the R slur.
@Alice Well, we identify with it, don't we?
So you can post videos but not anything about the GED? At least duet things on TikTok, you have the biggest following out of everyone
You are an absolute LEGEND for wanting to help people. I have a TikTok account named JakeTakeOnAutism and have 1,016 followers. I will definitely consider this advice to grow. Love you lots Paige!!
