Hi Paige! There is a concept/idea with ADHD called “body doubling” where we gain motivation from having another person around us. Even if they’re not helping with the task, just being present helps ADHDers accomplish things!

I lived alone for a short while in Uni, and I loved it! Living with my parents in my rural state DRAINS me. When I'm in school, I text my mom all the time, and thats great. But, I feel much more independent when I am away from them. I am fiercely independent too lol!
I'm so happy you are able to get your own place, and tjats you're happy with it!!

I hated living alone. My mom and I get along really well and she needs financial help so it works for us.
      It’s different for everyone though
But honestly it’s three story so I’m upstairs and she’s in the basement. It would probably be different if it was a smaller house I’d feel controlled

Hey. Lived alone for most of my adult life, even though I crave connection and struggle with the motivation issue you described. I recommend getting familiar with how to hold yourself accountable to yourself without a mediated reflection of others: it is hard hard hard. And also get familiar with letting yourself off the hook if you decide to give yourself a break about being "motivated." It is okay to just "hang out and do nothing" with yourself and your dog. That is doing something, allowing some down time.

I can’t wait to see more updates on your house as you spruce it up and make it perfect for you - plus I can’t wait to see tips and tricks for an autism-friendly house. Maybe I can use some of them myself! I only recently figured out that I’m autistic, so I haven’t been able to make many adjustments in my home to make it better for me, especially since we had to pack up and move to a whole new house... it’s been a month since we moved and I swear I’m still burnt out. I hope your moving process goes much more smoothly and less stressfully than mine

I agree. She's a kind person who came from a stable family and was well cared for... It's a very different story when someone comes from poverty and abuse (raises hand). It does not mean that Paige didn't work very hard...but the wounded inner child in me sort of wishes I could have had a family that was stable. We also lived in poverty for a long time, too, and that really impacts your development and can create deep shame. On top of that...we moved a ton. I sometimes went to three different schools in a year. I remember considering suicide at 12. It takes a lot longer to pull yourself out of that sort of world when you have not been consistently treated with respect or your needs have been totally unmet for your formative years.
I love this RUclipsr. She's amazing. But you are right...in a world where many children grow up in abusive homes or in poverty it shows the range of privileges that can exist. I also feel like someone can acknowledge this and yet not be trying to tear down another. It's life. It's not fair. But at least in Paige's case...she is a lovely person and I am so happy for her.
It also baffles me that we live in a world where giving children what they need is considered privilege. It shows just how many go without things they truly need and how commonplace this is that many seem bitter when a good person gets ahead. Or start to create a contest of who was the most traumatized. When I find a person who is very full of anger and bitterness and feels pain when someone else gets ahead...I now see it as a sign that they likely didn't get their needs met at all. I know I am doing my best to heal because I definitely don't feel so bitter anymore. That's my personal progress and to me that's a win too. :)

I really love interior design and decorating, so I'm excited to see what you do with the place! I also am very interested in the ways you'll be able to make it more autism friendly, that's also something that interests me since I'm autistic.
I just moved into an apartment where there's staff during the daytime and I have my own coordinator, so that I'm not alone and not just thrown into the world of living by myself. I'm also really lucky that I got my older siblings and my dad nearby, and my sister and her boyfriend recently renovated basically their entire apartment, so they gave me a lot of stuff like side tables, a rug, lamps, etc lol.
I decided from day one that whatever is going into my apartment will be calm and muted in terms of colours, and that I'll make my place as calm as possible so that I can be less anxious.
Still trying to get the hang of keeping the place clean and tidy, and I do need help with it, but today I managed to do the day's dishes with no problem, which I'm quite proud of. Also got Pokemon bedding because that's important lol.

getting a google home helps so much with not feeling alone! when you wake up you can tell it “good morning” and have it tell you what you need to do that day! same with saying “goodnight,” it’ll put on a noise you chose to sleep to. and you can ask it to tell you jokes and there’s so many.

Yeah the Canadian housing market is bonkers right now. I just got a Semi in Thorold for 530 K and although i love the place i feel a tad dirty paying that much.Congratulations on your new place also.

Congratulations! Owning your own home is the best feeling! Though I wish I painted and ripped up carpet when I first moved in and it was empty. I just didn’t think of that, and had to move out ASAP. Been living here for 7 years this November, and still haven’t completed everything, as I just didn’t have the money. But now hubby and I are in a position to save and get jobs done, which is the best feeling ever.

Just taking a moment to say watching your videos, for me, is a lesson in how eye contact works. I don't have the kinds of difficulties some do with eye contact - I can do it for a while quite easily but then, as the conversation moves along, I find myself looking into the other person's eyes, concentrating on that, and eventually losing the thread of what's being said. It doesn't happen always, but when it does it can be awkward to trail off, having lost my place and forgotten where the conversation was going. That's usually the point where I start talking garbage. I'm just saying I can watch your videos, with your searchlight-brilliant eyes, and really see only them but listen to you at the same time. You're good practice :)

From what i learned from home improvement shows, you can get an old crock pot at the thrift store and have the hardware sit in just hot water and it should get the paint off ☺️

@Child Molester I said one of the BEST achievements, as in, one of the most enjoyable, (having space to yourself that you're able to call your own). Also, your youtube name is gross in the most disturbing way. I'd prefer a society where we rally together and do away with all child molesters, violently or otherwise.
