From 2007 onwards it's also a bit heavier due to the ABS and some other things....If ridden slowly in traffic I got 3,7-4l/100km on mine.

@@StromerRUclips ah, interesting, how do you notice the difference in cylinder angle in practice? It's a think I've been wondering about. Of course, like you say, the displacement is way bigger for the KTM, so may be hard to compare directly to the v-strom..
@Arne Eide it's just the engine sound itself...a bit more agressive on the KTM, but the KTM V2 is also a short stroke engine from the RC8, so it revs very high for 1200cc(up to ~9600; max. Power is 100rpm below redline:D)

The 650 is I think the better machine in weight to hit the dirt. What you guys / girls think?
The Vstrom is mostly road oriented. If you wan't to do some offroad, be aware of the small ground clearance (only 16cm!) and absolutely install a bashplate for the engine. With the bashplate the exhaust isn't the lowest point anymore.
You are only 200 km from me, so we could have a V-Strom ride sometime together if you want. I live in Moosburg a.d. Isar / Germany in the Munich area. Have fun riding your V-Strom!! Cheers.

Hey there friend, nice video. I own a 2007 Wee myself and I was wondering if you were familiar with the problem regarding the two bolts that hold the front fairing to the mainframe loosening up or even coming completely loose (and lost), which would result in a rattling front fairing on speedbumps and sorts. I've heard that replacing those two bolts would fix the the problem, but I've gotten that advise from some fairly old motoforums. Would you happen to know wether replacing those bolts is an effective way of solving the aformentioned problem? Thanks :)
I would suggest some locktide medium to secure the bolts. On mine, I never had that problem, but enough other little things so that I finally sold the bike.

Thanks! But I've upgraded to a KTM 1190 Adv. because the VStrom had just way to low power for me. ;)
@@StromerRUclips Nice choice, I bet the sound is Even bretter. I Will keep the V-Strom for a couple years. It was cheap an use little fuel. I've put on studded tires, so good to have an inexspensive bike to ride in the winter.
@@arneeide9219 I wouldn't say that the sound itself is actually better...a bit louder(double the displacement...) and overall just a bit different than the VStrom V2. Because the KTM V2 has a 75° crankshaft and not a "regular" 90° like the Suzuki V2s
Moc pěkný video
Dík!
superbes routes !!!!! belle région !
Merci! :)
Love your bike control!
Let go off the gas to slow down and just throttle some after the corners. Keep the speed no access breaking, smooth corners!
Thanks!😀
Congrats on the “full” license :-)
Thanks!
What are using for recording sound ? it comes out quite well
@@chasingcoffee I use the Schaaf methode😁
A Zoom H1n wrapt up in something soft and that placed under the seat.
I sync the 2 audio tracks with the horn of the bike.

Wow... winding roads, beautiful scenery , and zero traffic. Where oh where...?
Upper Austria, near the czech republic. The region is called "Mühlviertel".
Wow, what video game is this? It looks so real!!! Just kidding. I just got my first Vstrom two weeks ago and really like it so far (2014 DL650A). I am waiting for my skid plate and engine guard to arrive before I do anything too serious. Great video!!!!
Thanks!
5 YEARS I DRIVE EVER DAY WITH MY FRIEND I FUCKING LOVE THIS VSTROM MY FRIEND DRIVE ALMOST 10+ YEARS THIS IS SO GOOD MOTOR!!!
Awesome!
Hello there!!! nice video!!
Thanks! As far as the Traction control on the VStrom....not really necessary with less than 80hp in my opinion. I would save the money and use it for traveling instead.
Hey mate! That is some mind blowing riding!
By any chance could you let me know what tires are you using?
Cheers and ride on!
Thanks! I had the Continental Trail Attack 3 mounted.
sounds sweet.
thanks!
i have a 2007 Abs model with wide opend K&N Air Box ! Its love 🥰😂🤘bought it in 2019 with 17.000k ! Now in early 2024 its 73.000k !😁👌
Nice!
Amazing bike man

I had it on ~75% Preload and ran CTA3 tires back then.
Great video! Bike sounds great, is that the stock muffler noise?
Thanks! It's the stock muffler.
good run dude
Thanks!
yyyya man!
😁
Fantastic video it was buttery smooth can u tell me how to do cornering like u
Thanks! My cornering methode is actually pretty simple....just start at the outside and don't cut in before you can't see the exit.
The pictures explain it very good, even if you can't read german: www.varahannes.at/fahrtechnik.htm
@@StromerRUclips Thanks for reply
Wow!

@@StromerRUclips subbed , I got the vstrom bug now!
@@crackerjack8115 Thanks again :D But unfortunately, there won't be any new videos with this VStrom because I've sold it for a KTM 1190 Adv. a few months ago.
Great!!
Thanks!
Danke!🙂
Raw power and vstrom 650 don't go in the same sentence. 🤣🤣
Dont blink, you might miss it!😁
Gonna check one in a couple days. If I like it I’ll buy one.
Got an fj1200 with Superbike steer.
Hell of a smooth cruiser and racer.
I noticed I don’t want to go over 6-7k revs. So I don’t use my 125hp.
So why not go lighter?
I want to do some Trans euro Trails, that’s slight off road.
Nice drive ...
Thanks!
Nice ride man 👌 can you tell me, this sound is original?
Thanks! It‘s the stock exhaust.
You are only 200 km from me, so we could have a V-Strom ride sometime together if you want. I live in Moosburg a.d. Isar / Germany in the Munich area. Have fun riding your V-Strom!! Cheers.
200km isn't that far away, but I don't have the V-Strom anymore! I sold it, for a KTM 1190 Adv....btw if you're from Germany, dann können wir auch gerne in Deutsch schreiben :D
Where did you get your tank bag at?
It's from "Bagster", but it was on the bike when I bought it. Theoretically you could strap on a tank bag from bagster at that tank cover.
www.bagsterworld.de/pi.php/en/Tank-covers/SUZUKI/dl-6503.html
Edit: Here's the correct link: www.bagsterworld.de/pi.php/en/Tank-covers/SUZUKI/dl-650.html
I just buy this bike a month ago and the way you make turns it is impressive. How experience driver you are ?
Around 80.000km of experience so far.
Damn looks like hes HAULIN
:D
What is that second sound with the exhaust, is it from the engine?
Probably the transmission.
This noise when he goes on the throtle is the chain.
@@StromerRUclips Ahh too bad it came to that. I'll give that a try. Thanks again :)
I am also thinking about selling mine due to some annoying problems, what issues did you have on yours?
@@tghztgfd7802 ABS Sensor rear, Speed Sensor, Clutch freeplay adjuster, Airfilter full after 15k km, clunky gearbox(false neutrals), oil consumption....
@@StromerRUclips Ah thats annoying, what happend with your Airfilter, did you get Oil in it?
Sorry what was done to this bike for to open it up?
I removed the throttle limiter that was necessary for me to ride it with the restricted license back then.
Gratuliere zum offenen A✌️.
Wie waren deine Bikes denn gedrosselt? Gasanschlag, Elektronisch, etc.?
Die Shiver via Mapping und die VStrom via Gasanschlag!
Schönes Video, gute Tonaufnahme ..... nur dein nervöser Schaltfuß stört
Danke! Aber Nervös? Ich hätte gesagt: aktiv🙂
@@StromerRUclips - hyperaktiv!

Blip the throttle before downshifting , not after
Yea, I didn't really knew that back then. I hope I've improved until now...
@@StromerRUclips BTW I bought V Strom 650 2022 6 days ago. Fantastic adventure motorcycle!
@@asanrushid4981 True! The VStrom is a great allrounder!
Mount the camera on the bike. It gives a much more feeling of speed and lean angle
Thanks for letting us listen to the motor
Thanks for the comment! I've actually tried that a while ago: ruclips.net/video/Cx-jSixJ66g/видео.html
For what it's worth I disagree. This angle shows what he's doing (and he's doing it pretty well)...
Thanks😁 I think it would be an interesting perspective, but difficult to find a good spot on the bike where the GoPro doesn‘t get to much vibration...
this bike is at the moment of recording is 35kw???
No, it was already without the restriction when I recorded this.
@@StromerRUclips how was it restricted, had enough power? Looking to upgrade
It was a throttle body limiter.(Little bracket that limits your throttle opening) Uphill it was quite a pain sometimes tbh.
I assume you mean my downshifts? Yea I'm workin on them...
210 KLM ??
no, the Vstrom only goes 190 ish...
Being in the US I never understood the restricted power crap.
looking back at that time, I have to say, it makes sense...but the biggest impact on "saftey" are the reqired additional driving technique courses you have to take in austria within a year after you get the licence. (both, for cars and bikes)
@@StromerRUclips What is done to the bike to remove the restriction?
@@MisterSuki In this case it was just a little "bracket" on the throttle body to restrict the movement of the throttle. On my Aprilia Shiver I had an ECU restriction, which got removed by the Aprilia Dealer back then.(flashing another software basically)
Today's ride

Hello can tou Tell me that reference of your windshield ? Thank you.
I think it was the MRA Vario Touring Screen.
@@StromerRUclips Top! :)

Try blipping the throttle on downshift... you motor will appreciate it in the long run my friend..
I actually do that😉 Preload the gear lever and then at the same time let go the throttle and change the gear....did I miss something here or do you mean the sometimes not so perfect rev matching?
Yes I noticed that you do it. Good luck mate I hope to buy a vstrom soon myself love it
Nice audio. No need to go faster than this on public roads. Proves the 650 Vstrom makes plenty of power. I own an ‘06 model, and feel no need for more power. Nice road? What country is this?
Thanks! It's in Austria.
Learn how to revmatch it will help your transmission
I'm on it!
@@StromerRUclips Du solltest dringend an deiner Fahrlinie arbeiten.
