Thank you I´m bingewatching your Tutorials ❤
Awesome, you’re welcome! Thank you for watching!
Super helpful and clear. Again, thank you.
You're welcome!
Zooming in to the "sample levels"....NICE! I would have NEVER known this - THANKS - very useful stuff!
You're welcome!
Always good.... That's nice
Thanks!
Thank you for making this video, amazing tips, just the middle mouse wheel tips alone are worth it, I knew of two of them but not all of them. Thank you again for taking the time to share such valuable information, your awesome Jason! Have a a great day.
You’re welcome! Thank you for watching!
@@JasonYadlovski Of course, your videos are awesome and you are a good teacher, I have a small film group on fb of local filmmakers and they love your stuff, so I'm always sharing your channel.
That’s awesome, thanks so much for sharing my stuff! I’m glad people find it helpful. 😁👍
yessss studio sound at your finger tips. :)
one more to save for future editing
😜
Boom! Thank you :)
You got it!
Q&F Quick and fast - good tips - Happy to know mst of them already!
Nice! You're ahead of the crowd. 😜
@@JasonYadlovski thnx But fairlight still has many options I do not know to use correct. I keep learning!!
I've got lots of videos to help with that. 😁
@@JasonYadlovski I know!
Thanks for the video I learnt a lot.
You're welcome!
@@JasonYadlovski only yesterday I was wanting to extend a song so it’s outro repeated itself a few times and I figured out how to copy it but not paste it. Lol 😆
I ended up doing it on the edit page.
Love to see a Quick tip Tuesday on how you Make your Tutorials with the RED CIRCLE and DIM the screen except the portion you are Euphemizing. That alone really helps one GRASP the concept you are explaining. Still have to SLOW DOWN the PLAYBACK speed occasionally, but that's just me. Love to see a Presentation on how to do DYNAMIC Volume changes (On the Fly). I've done it but can't remember how or where I saw the DEMO.
Super-helpful as always, Jason - thanks so much man.
I have the 'Magic Mouse' that came with my iMac (I keep promising myself a new mouse 🤣) and just to say, you can do the same zoom controls on the Magic Mouse by using a scrolling action in the middle of the mouse whilst holding Command or Control (and Shift...I think).
Cheers, Jason 🙏🏻
Nice! Thanks for sharing that Gary!
I would still recommend a mouse with a scroll wheel though.
Take the Colour page in Resolve...
I believe you can copy your grade from one clip to the next by highlighting them and pressing down on the scroll wheel...which I assume is super-helpful (I do the "menu" version 🙄🤦♂️🤣).
Cheers as always, Jason 😁🙏
Hi. Great channel and post. I missed one tip though.
Is there an easy way to copy settings (fx's, dynamics, eq, volume and all) from one audiotrack to an other? Both within your timeline and to an other timeline.
Thanks
/S
Thanks! Yes, to copy, just select the track (click below the track name), then right click and Copy, then right click on the track you want to paste to and choose Paste Attributes.
Hi. How to compound clips in Firelight environment?
Great tips~! question: on 4:56 when you 'paste" the clip to another track... 🤔 is it me, or it was pasted to a different spot from the position of the playhead? if so... how do we make sure it goes exactly where we want it to be pasted? thanks! cheers!
Thanks! You have to take note of where the playhead is when you copy. Place the playhead at the beginning of the clip before copying if you want it to paste right where the playhead is.
I had no idea you could click down those sample audio points!!
That's a handy one!
I have a couple of questions I've had for a while and kept forgetting to ask. When editing your whole video, do you adjust your audio first before going to the edit page? Or do you wait until after the video is edited? I'm thinking that doing some audio editing is a good thing, but I often don't remember it until after I've spent a couple of days editing the video, and by then it's really too late. I always appreciate your insights. ~Cecile
I usually edit my audio after I cut together the video. Sometimes I'll do a little audio editing before cutting up the video, just because I want to hear better audio while editing. I make most of my audio edits on a Track level, not clip by clip, so it's pretty quick for me. I've got presets setup that get most of the job done in a few clicks.
@@JasonYadlovski that makes a lot more sense than what I have been doing ( editing the clips ) but I have used the compressor on the track level . The video I’m working now I plan on compressing just the Bus
Thank You good sir. I am having issues with my audio clips. Roughly, for about 20 seconds of the beginning of each clip I add to my timeline. The grid is not showing my audio and it also cuts off audio at the beginning of my timeline. I cannot figure out what to do to fix it.
I'm wondering if it's just a playback issue. Sounds like your machine might be struggling to process everything at the beginning. Maybe try some of the tips in this video: ruclips.net/video/XN33jb5_qWA/видео.html
@@JasonYadlovski Great advice. I had no idea updates were there. I downloaded the DR update. I now have DaVinci 18. Everything is working perfect now. Thank You so much. If one day My channel gets big enough to make a dent in the RUclips community. I owe a lot of gratitude to you sir. You have helped me through this DaVinci learning process more than you even know. More learning for me to come, of course. Take care and Thank You so much for being so awesome!
After adding text in Text+ , if you make multiple cuts and then change some font properties like color, size , fade in, fade out etc effect, then how you can copy paste all those effects to another clip of Text+? I tried copy paste attributes using Alt+V but it did not copied the properties to another Tex+ clip. Please suggest
I thought you could copy/paste attributes, but I haven't tried that. I'll have to take a look at it.
@@JasonYadlovski copy paste not working.. i tried multiple times... No information present on this topic in RUclips.. I hope you can crack it. :)
Do you know of a way to click and drag to select a portion of audio in the timeline? I want to CLICK > DRAG > RIPPLE DELETE. Kinda like you would do in Audacity.
You can just click and drag to select clips, then hit the delete key to ripple delete.
@@JasonYadlovski thank you!
How can one adjust a whole clip volume when there are KEY Frames changing separate sections of audio Volume on the same clip. I can adjust individual KEYFRAME segments but want to adjust their Volume of them all together.
You could do it if you applied an effect to the clip that has a 'Gain' feature associated with it. Another way is if you use the faders in the mixer. That will adjust the entire track though.
Hi Jason...quick question about Fairlight and Voice overs.......having recorded a voice over and saved the project, I noticed that when I reopened the project to do more work on it, the voice over track is red and there is no audio. I know where the audio is being saved...but it apperears that the audio is not being poulated in the media bin?......I have manually (copied/paste) the voice over track to the media bin and all is good now....surely any recorded audio should automatically link...or have i missed something?....I am using DR 18.1.2 build 6 free version
Keep up the great work....
Cheers Kev 👍
Hey Kev - it should re-link the audio automatically for you. But you can always select the audio clip, right click on it, and choose relink, then go find the audio clip in your file directory. I just had to do that yesterday with a voiceover and now it seems to be linked up each time I open resolve.
@@JasonYadlovski thanks for that....👍👍
if I simply scroll the timelines "pans" right and left not up and down :) I can't find a way to make it "tilt" up and down.. any advice ?
im on a PC
how is this "up and down" setting called in the keyboard customisatiion tab ?
thanks !
The shift or control key should do it.
Hi, Jason. I’d like to know if there’s any tool in davinci which is similar to Spectral view in adobe audion that might be used for fixing clicks and unpleasant sounds when you are able to see them and delete or auto heal?
I'm not familiar with that tool (I googled it) but I don't believe resolve has anything like that yet.
Great video(s) Any reason why you don't use the smarttool?
Thanks! Which smart tool?
@@JasonYadlovski Sorry ProTools user wrong name 🙂 I mean the Focus Mode. I find it very handy for editting.
I've never tried the focus mode. I'll have to look into it.
Hi Jason, got a video Idea for you:
Imagine you use only one camera, maybe a 6+K camera, to record interviews (like 2+ people, at a table, desk, arm-/lounge-chair, couch, …) and you want to crop that to a multiple views / multi camera kind a thing. E.g. down to 4K or better FullHD video.
What / how would you do that in / with DaVinci Resolve?
Regards
.
PS: DCP export would be also an interesting video (especially with the free version)
how can i merge 2 mono tracks into 1 Stereo track ?! thanks for your help :)
I would just send them both into a new stereo Bus.
@@JasonYadlovski i thought about it as well, but this feature will slow the mix (i mean timing) while others DAWs are giving us this feature with no headache, thanks dear and God bless you .
So i'm just switching to Fairlight and I've noticed that moving a clip up or down tracks using OPT arrow literally erases any clips in its path causing untold grief to the unsuspecting editor. Is there a way around this?
I agree it’s a little weird why it does that but if you click with your mouse and drag the clip over other clips of one erase them, but if you use the keyboard shortcut, it will erase other clips that it goes over top of

I watched your tutorial for BUS assignments, thank you. However, here's what I can't do. I need this. 8 separate audio tracks when outputting my QT video. Track 1 and 2 stereo, track 3-4-5-6 no sound and track 7 and 8 Stereo will be a copy of track 1 and 2. In my editing timeline, I have vocals on tracks 1- 2-3, audio effects track 4-5-6 and nothing on 7-8. How do we make tracks 1 to 6 output on stereo tracks 1-2 and 3-4-5-6 be empty and tracks 7-8 copy tracks 1 and 2. Thank you :-)
Does your GPU have high usage when playing audio in fair light section?
I'm on a Mac M1, so no real separate GPU. I've never looked at my usage either, but it always works smooth for me when it comes to audio. I'm in Studio.
@@JasonYadlovski I’m also on m1 but my iMac base model it always overheats when using fairlight because of lack of cooling it has
Nice Video, (one of my favorite comments I use it all the time) 🤣
Thanks! I appreciate you!
Tip 7 setting audio levels. Would be nice if one could adjust (Drag white line) audio levels in real time. i.e. play while adjusting Clip Volume.
I agree with that!
In Fairlight none of my audio tracks have the audio gain line, Is there a setting somewhere that turns the gain line on and off.
Yes, take a look at the timeline view options. It’s an icon just above the timeline on the left. There’s an option in there that will turn on the gain line.
@@JasonYadlovski Ah found it. I have been looking at the timeline options and the are 14 options plus a lot of zoom presets. I have no idea what all these choices do. Do you have a video that address these choices? You have a ton of videos and a ton of information. I'm going to look at the "Fairlight 101 Crash Course" right now. Is there a another of your videos you would suggest to get an understanding using Fairlight? Thank you. Great teaching videos.
What headphones do you use?
I currently use Sony MDR-V6 headphones. They don't make them any more, but the equivalent is the Sony MDR-7506 headphones. I also use a pair of Mackie CR-X5 monitor speakers. Links are in the Description if you wanna check them out.
@@JasonYadlovski Thanks! I'm in the market for a new pair of headphones anyways.
No spectogram?
I am watching for india thanks sir
You’re welcome! Thanks for watching!
Looping is ridiculous in fairlite. There should be one button for looping. You make a selection or an In-N-Out hit one button and it will keep looping until you unloop the loop button. It’s so convoluted it’s a mess. Luckily I do all my audio in logic pro which is… Dare I say it, much more logical.
I hear ya, it should be a little more intuitive. I agree.
Just a suggestion, but maybe you could put what the tips actually ARE in the description, instead of simply numbering them. None of them were what I was looking for.
Noted, thanks for watching!
