The way the upper and lower hull goes together reminds me of the Fuzzy Modem design submitted for the Odessy class competition. The Sovereign is a ship prepared to fight, the Polaris would be a high endurance explorer. More of a mobile starbase kind of concept. With that kind of size when the galaxy had serious unfinished internal spaces, we are talking a lot of cargo space and endurance. All the escape pods on one side makes sense. Then you can orient the ship to cover the pods with its bulk.
Real-life Alcubierre-White warp drives would be useful for sublight travel as well, so that may make up the difference, along with the small impulse drives.
I see great elements from multiple ships... a little bit of the nacelle styling from the JJprise, the neck from the Excelsior with a little bit of the the lower hull design from the Enterprise B and D... and A semi Sovereign saucer with some Voyager elements. Gorgeous ship though.
OK I rarely comment on videos but this calls for it. I see this as a great successor to the Sovereign. The Galaxy is an older design, some are still in service but most are lost in the Dominion War. The Sovereign is, lets be honest a warship. Star Fleet needs a large explorer to get back to what it's all about. The neck on this ship is great use of space for living. I don't really see the JJ Verse in this ship at all. That hull lighting to me is reminiscent of the connie refit. If that's an observation deck above the deflector I love it, Think long term exploration for 2500 people.. Need windows and way more then 10 forward ever offered. Now to nit pick... I've never really liked the sovereign design (missed the neck), but more precisely I just don't think they ever shot it well for the movies, especially after First Contact when it was just CG. So I am not crazy about the underside of the Saucer in the refit. I also don't like the shroud around the deflector dish in the refit either. This ship feels overall to me like you took the good parts of the Odyssey class, mixed in a little Galaxy and Sovereign and made something very useful for Star Fleet in this time period, if the time period this is being deployed in is say 5 or 10 years after Nemesis. I could go on for many pages for this one.. But seriously.. Love it!
That is a huge ship, being bigger than even the Galaxy-class ships for the dish and longer than the Sovereign class ship. Cool design in many ways though. The view from the top-behind, it looks very much like the Voyager/Intrepid-class. The size of the warp nacelles in contrast to the rest of the ship, definitely gives it a JJ Abrams inspired design. The separation of the dish from the rest of it is interesting. For the shuttle, it is absolutely a scout-ship evolved looking design.
Gorgeous ship :D. I'm pretty sure that black glass between the saucer and the secondary hull is one of those weird blue phasers like the one used ini star trek 2009 in between the secondary hull and saucer of the enterprise when that huge ship (can't remember its name...shame on me) was caught in a singularity.
I love this design. Especially the first version. The proportions, the shapes... And it has a neck. I like this much better than the Enterprise E. But that's just me :)
I've loved this ship since I first saw it, but I love it even more now. I didn't know the saucer could separate. I had never seen the captain's yacht, which I really like. And I really love the size of the ship as well as the warp nacelles.
what an interesting episode! I really think that mission briefings for fan designs are the most interesting ones. The chance is much higher to see some ships that are completly unknown and bring new and interesting vibes to the star trek multiverse. This polaris class definetly is a beautiful design and I am certain that a lot of thoughts about the lore behind it went into this design process and much of the detailing. Just as you said, it feels like a less war-oriented new ship to me. With this size, this thing would almost be a mobile outpost capable of sustaining big exploration and scientific efforts at the borders of the federation. With just a few phasers and visible torpedo launchers, it definetly seems like a ship that is not designed to be aggressive in battle, although I can imagine it having a lot less conventional systems to support a fleet or hold out in a fight for a while.
Another great episode with the Trekyards crew. I always look forward to new episodes and look forward to hearing the different points of view on the ships, technology, etc from Captain Foley & Commander Cockings. Keep up the great work. :)
NO, REMEMBER, THEY DON’T USE GLASS FOR WINDOWS OR ANY PARTS THAT ARE SEE THRU, THEY HAVE TRANSPARENT METAL AND MAKE GOOD USE OF IT. I TOTALLY LOVE THE DESIGN OF THIS SHIP
This is a good looking ship, love the way it evolves with the refit, but i think its a shame that it lost the captains yacht. I can live with that tho, good brief guys , looking fored to the next one.
+Jam T The war-refit was designed for the Armada III mod for Sins of a Solar Empire: Rebellion and I had to reduce the mesh's detail for it to be playable ingame. I assure you, the captain's yacht exists on the war-refit.
Nice design Michael.I love the sovereign class and this would fit nicely along side. That is a very dramatic landing pad on the rear reminds me of a swim out on a boat or if the captain wants to go skiing . Well done.
Great job guys. Only 3 subs away from 5000! Early congratulations on that landmark, I hope it happens today. This is a hidden gem/resource for all Trek fans, I tell everyone I know when Trek comes up to check in here and subscribe.
It's an interesting ship design. -I don't like the Deflector area of the MKI but MK II is a dramatic and stylish improvement. -I think getting rid of the Voyage-esque defelector was a mistake. Put it back on the MK II -I don't like the neck change in MKII. -Not a fan of the JJ Nacelles. +The separation was very well done +The MKII back of the saucer is a great improvement. Very bold and strong design.
+saquist I intend on making a version 3 in the future. Many comments so far seem to agree with you. I may not change the nacelles with version 3, but that could easily change.
Michael Wiley And Congratulations on being the first Fan Design on Trek Yards from what I've seen it's much deserved. I hope to Vektor's Magellanic Class up here soon.
I love JJ Nacelles i just love and it's completle fine if you don't like nor the new movie i like new movies and old series but JJ ships are awesome well to me that's maybe because im younger.
I really like the design and sleekness of the captain's yacht. Putting the engines of the Defiant in post-war times on a shuttle seems just like the type of thing that the Federation would do. It also gives the yacht more of an advantage over your average shuttle. I hope to see more of it in canon or STO someday. As for the refit, I couldn't quite put my finger on it at first but I like the original saucer more because of the dark detailings beneath the phaser strips. The pre-refit is more softer in the profile of an exploratory-geared ship.
Funny, I don't think Mr. Wiley ever showed the saucer separation on his Deviant Art account. I didn't even know it COULD separate! I like the diamond-like hull configuration of the battle bridge section. I don't think that's ever been done before. Reminds me a little of the Ghost from SW Rebels.
Were you guys going to do an assessment of any of the Dominion ships? The Jem'Hadar fighters and Dominion battleships are pretty cool looking, from the various times they were involved in the fighting around the Cardassian Union planets or in the Gamma Quadrant.
I know that NCC-1701-F is the Odyssey class and I don’t think Star Trek Picard will change that but I think the Polaris class would be great as the NCC-1701-G.
I usually hate the way ships look when they saucer separate. It's one of the reasons I hate the whole separation concept. But this is the first ship I've seen where both hulls still maintain a good look individually. Not sure I'm a fan of the JJ references (particularly above the main deflector, the forward 'neck'), but nice design overall...
Is it possible for you guys to do an episode on that Wells class timeship we saw in Voyager? Aside from that, lovely ship and it would be amazing to see the interior of it!
You don't necessarily need large impulse engines for a starship. Look at the Enterprise-D, 2 in the saucer and one in the stardrive. When everything is connected, the one in the stardrive is the only one on. That's a tiny impulse drive--- meaning an upgrade in tech. I have a newer version being worked on, and I'll share it with the Trekyards community.
Quite a nifty ship. I liked the refit version more than the first incarnation. That one felt too JJ-y. Also, have you considered the Insignia Class or New Orleans class?
both versions of the ship are pretty cool, also curious if you will do any other fleetyards and rarely seen trek ships as its always great to see ships i've never seen though I would love to see yall take a look at the Odyssey, regent an/or the recent andromenda ship from STO
+SuperGamefreak18 Yes another guaranteed fleetyards is coming but we will need more fan support on our patreon to keep the show going beyond that. As for lesser seen ships, yes and no...some are coming but we get less views for them in general so we are focusing on some of the bigger ships for a little bit. Yes to the Odyssey, hopefully with its designer!
Maybe it's a personal "sleek" thing (Iknow it's cliche) but carve off that seconary hull, literally that bulk and taper it to the aft? Yeah it have a sovereign feel too much, but better profile. like the Vesta. Cool, but bring the Necelles in a a bit ,lower them to flush with the hull. I suppose without the swan belly this ship looses it's distinction, but I dunno. That said without the "Torso"It'd be an Odyssey class sorta.
+simonriddick Toss the Enterprise-G, add in 2 scoops proto-ambassador, 1 scoop Enterprise-E, and a pinch of Reliant. Place design in the oven on 350 degrees for 3 months and you will get a Part 2 video.
Looks interesting, but the refit sure cuts down on visuals a lot. It may be because it could be more armoured, but there are a lot of things in there that just look wrong.
+Michael Wiley Ok, no problem. Let's give it a try :) Original model: I like the overall shape a lot, could really fit in with the Star Trek lore, that said there are some things that may need attention. - I like the integrated bridge a lot, no more odd looking dome on top, problem however is what appears to be a huge glass wall. It would work for ships that shuttle between planets or planet to space station, but for battle type things it would rather be a huge disadvantage. The solution for the refit which makes it a lot more armored is a lot better and looks a lot nicer as well. - As Stuart also mentioned, the pylons for the nacelles should be pointing the other direction which will make it look a lot better. - As the gentlemen already mentioned as well, there are hardly any phaser strips on this thing, so that definitely need to change. For example, add a few on the rear so that it can fire to the rear as well. Else it will look a lot weaker in firepower then even the TNG ships nor ready for it's time. - A OPTIONAL pod may be interesting to have, specially if it can detach as serve as extra ship. Quantum torpedo launchers, mega phasers or something along that line. Or optionally a pod that has a double flight bay (fly trough) with all kinds of small ships. A few worker bees, Delta Flyer II's should be available around that time or brand new shuttles all together that can serve as shuttle, fighter and close range vessels. - That light on the saucer could use a tiny dent, sink it a little bit into the saucer along with the name, just ever so slightly to give it that little extra touch of detail. - For the engines, look at the Hestia (STO) and use similar impulse engines on this thing, it will increase maneuverability by a huge step and it could become a little bit faster if traveling by impulse. - The landing deck on the rear, add a shield idea like the Vesta class and add a few lines etc on that deck. It will make the whole look better and the ship is more streamlined. Also slightly bigger ships are capable of landing without needing to get dragged in the hangar bay. Make the landing deck also in a darker color so that it will look better. - The hangarbay doors look a bit 1 tone gray to me as well without any detail. I suggest to look at a navy ship and take one of those doors, it may look interesting, specially if you add it in a dark grey color. - The Captain's Yacht would look better if you would add a micro torpedo launcher on the top. It also up's the danger to enemies. Also make the nose a little pointier and less old style shuttle, it will give a more dangerous look to the shuttle as well. Refit model: - Loosing it's secondary deflector for a few added windows makes no sense, better to place it back. Although a more armored look to it would probably be a good idea. - Those escape pods, why didn't you use those on the original model? They will look a lot better on that as well then the older style ones. Although the color pattern on them may need to look a bit more like the original ship, so more basic grey-ish with a tad of dark grey outlines would do it. - The refit could probably use a extra few phaser strips to make it more dangerous, it's a cruiser refit and not a harmless shuttle ;) - Closing up the rear as much as you did is probably taking away a lot from the original. Specially those old style hangar bay doors on the very rear end. Those look horrible on this ship. I suggest to keep using the suggestions I did for the original model with tiny added armor plates near it's edges (one above the door and 1 on each side of the landing platform). For the secondary hull top side, at least make it a darker grey or add some smooth looking structures on there to define it as update. Also make the neck less vulnerable in that area and not looking like a duck neck. - Overall armor plates on the ship may look interesting and add extra protection to the people inside. So large plates that stick out ever so slightly in a dark grey color would probably at least nice to try out and see what it will do for it's looks. - That main deflector dish looks great,. If you ever plan to make a second refit version, you may want to turn that deeper blue along with the nacelle's. Hope this will help :)
Thank you for your critique. I fully agree that the refit removed many of the good elements from the first version. I will keep your critique as reference for whenever I begin working on version 3.
+Matt Seakins The designing episode is filmed with Rick but it is a little bit of a complex edit with the amount of information we go though! Its an interesting one and it is filmed! will defiantly be out before the end of the year!
+Michael Wiley Wiley? The REAL Wiley? The Modder? Dude love your mods on Bridge Commander and Armada 3. good job. What happened to the BC modding community? seems like it's dead. :(
Thank you. Yes I'm WileyCoyote. The BC modding community exists but it is not as active as it was before. Since filefront/gamefront pulled the plug on BC and numerous other games, the BC modding community has pretty much ground to a halt. They are in the process of uploading mods to bc-central.com, so you still may be able to find some mods there. Meanwhile, I'm still active in the scifi 3D modeling scene, creating ships for the Armada III and Axanar mods and UDK. Occasionally I do 3D commissions and get invited to create artwork for the SOTL calendar. Very exciting!
I have a better refit being worked on, for which I will share with the trekyards community. The "refit" as seen in the video above was made for Armada III, and the design team liked it and added it, though it has no way of fitting in a Dominion Wars-era timeline. It was a game, and not to be meant as canon.
+Jymography The Designing with Rick episode was filmed some time ago but it is a complex edit with a sound issue and lots of things to include as we talk about a lot of stuff. 100% before the end of the year!
Personally The sovereign class is my favourite by far. The enterprise F shouldn't be an odyssey class.....I'm thinking more of a century class, unless they fixed the way the back of the saucer doesn't flow into the secondary hull on the odyssey...it looks weird. Then this Polaris class....which looks amazing, especially the refit....I think should be the Enterprise G.
The forward-projecting secondary hull makes it look kinda like a starship-can-opener. :D Overall, a pretty cool design though, the first version that is. Second version is kinda generic.
+G. Greer Those are two completely different ships. The Vengeance is overall more blocky in the enginnering hull and the nacelles. The Vengeance also had large exposed weaponry on both sides of the deflector housing. Other than the round saucer, there were almost no curved shapes on the USS Vengeance. There are more similarities to Andrew Probert's earlier version of the Enterprise-C (so called Proto-Ambassador). The Polaris is more of a combination of a discarded Enterprise-E sketch, the Proto-Ambassador, and hints of Voyager in the saucer.
Sorry, I do not agree with you. I can understand where you can find the similarities. When we make a Part 2 video, I will address the differences. I made this image for all who think I made a prime-timeline Vengeance: trekmodeler.deviantart.com/art/Argonaut-vs-Polaris-379299594
Michael Wiley I took a look at your picture but the Argonaut isn't the Vengeance. Don't get me wrong the Polaris is a great looking ship but myself I can see cues from the Vengeance in it. Myself I did like the Vengeance (except for the size). The hole in the saucer was a bit much for me thought. If I were asked to choose I would choose the Polaris, but I do see the Vengeance in the Polaris.
Do people really hate the JJ design Enterprise? There are a few things I don't like (The distance between the engines, which are not that close in the original Ryan Chuch design by the way.) but it's still good.
+EnterpriseKnight The problem is that JJ's production group wanted to reinvigorate the franchise, and in the process, we are given a new universe to play around in. To hard-core fans, they feel that almost 50 years of series and movies they grew up with has been erased and rewritten. The main TOS crew are written to be different than the 1960s versions, and the Enterprise has been drastically changed. Personally, I do not hate the new Enterprise. The same argument for today's movies can also be used for fans petitioning TNG. Now there is growing tension between CBS/Paramount and the show's fans. They want a good story rather the production company making a generic popcorn flick that makes over 400 million dollars.
no please do not say that .. I did not watch enterprise because it was pre federation... I was hoping the new series would be after DS9 the dominion war i want too see new ships new crew in that post war world... not a star trek show set in the past no fun for me
This should have been the Enterprise F class. I am NOT a fan of the Odyssey class. The cut out out between the saucer and engineering section of the Odyssey makes no sense.
+FLAME4564 As the designer of the Polaris Class, there wasn't meant to be any connection to the Vengeance from Into Darkness. That's all fan speculation.
I dont get hoe these guys seen this as the Enterprise E it looks nothing like it, The saucer / back and shuttle bay and landing pad are very Voyger esk and the lines scream intrepid class
the prototype Polaris is far better than the refit . losing the capt. yacht and the blue crystal area. it lost alot of detail in the refit . the refit is far too sovereign .
+Mark Fields I'm currently reworking the mesh for a Part 2 video. Many of the comments I'm been reading here and in the video address some good points. I should be posting work-in-progress renders to the Trekyards facebook page fairly soon.
Sorry to disagree, but that secondary hull protrusion is absolutely hideous, as is the over-flared aspect, and the nacelles are meh. The ship is almost okay, but those features just ruin it.
The way the upper and lower hull goes together reminds me of the Fuzzy Modem design submitted for the Odessy class competition.

Awesome design. Reminiscent of Voyager & the Sovereign class to me with a bit more. Serious contender for badassery!
Pro trick: watch series at KaldroStream. I've been using it for watching all kinds of movies these days.
@Bryant Fisher Definitely, been using KaldroStream for since november myself :D

+Barricade74656 In the mod this ship was made for, it's an experimental Battleship that uses temporal technology. So, sorry, but not an explorer.
Looks much better than the Odyssey class (STO Enterprise F).
That is a huge ship, being bigger than even the Galaxy-class ships for the dish and longer than the Sovereign class ship. Cool design in many ways though. +WumbologyTM That glass on the front of the neck of the secondary hull is a large observation room/lobby/rec room.
ah ok :)
I love this design. Especially the first version. The proportions, the shapes... And it has a neck. I like this much better than the Enterprise E. But that's just me :)
It's all about that neck, 'bout that neck, no tribbles.
I don't think I like it better than the Enterprise E, but it looks loads better than most STO designs of a similar design lineage.
Hell yea.
I've loved this ship since I first saw it, but I love it even more now. I didn't know the saucer could separate. I had never seen the captain's yacht, which I really like. And I really love the size of the ship as well as the warp nacelles.

+MrMartechi You are correct sir.
+MrMartechi i agree its refreshing seeing them react to a ship they are seeing for the first time or relatively close to their first impressions.
Looking back at this, I see a lot of the starship fleet at ending of season one of Picard.
Another great episode with the Trekyards crew. I always look forward to new episodes and look forward to hearing the different points of view on the ships, technology, etc from Captain Foley & Commander Cockings. Keep up the great work. :)

Well thought out, again nice job.

You guys should consider another of Michael's designs, the Argonaut class.
+JohnnyMuffintop I agree.
This was the template for the Curiosity class (starship Zheng He) in ST Picard. The secondary hull was trimmed off along with details
They actually used one of John Eaves concepts and changed the design a bit.
This is by far the most beautiful fan-made ship i've ever seen! Would love to see a 3D model of it at some point. Or even better, a physical model!
You can see this model used in Star Trek: Armada 3 mod, for Sins. Its really cool looking.
+vashstpd That version was an excuse to put post-nemesis bits on a 25th century ship.
Maybe, but its a great ship still.
There is a third bay on the underside of the secondary hull. Looks like it would contain the contingent of work bees given its size.
I cant say I am a fan of this ship
Wow. This just became one of my favourite fan designs. I definitely prefer the refit.
that is one beautiful and canon looking ship
I figure that black depression on the front of the saucer with blue backlighting was a secondary navigational deflector.
Very impressive starship! Not sure what’s it role though. Mult-purpose?
Were you guys going to do an assessment of any of the Dominion ships? The Jem'Hadar fighters and Dominion battleships are pretty cool looking, from the various times they were involved in the fighting around the Cardassian Union planets or in the Gamma Quadrant.
+Kevin Westrom Coming soon!
+Stuart Foley Thank you very much, Captain Foley.
I see your point but in a world were you need saucer separation, would you go with affectiveness or looks?
Iam happy too see fan designs on your page this is awesome and star fleet needs the ships
I would LOVE to see this in STO!
Is it possible for you guys to do an episode on that Wells class timeship we saw in Voyager?
Aside from that, lovely ship and it would be amazing to see the interior of it!
+TheDragonsInferno Absolutely! i am very much excited to work on that episode!
One of my favorite ship
What site or game or whatever can you go to so you can design your own starship?
I did notice impulse engines on the saucer section, they are much larger than the impulse engines on the secondary hull.
You don't necessarily need large impulse engines for a starship. Look at the Enterprise-D, 2 in the saucer and one in the stardrive. Can you guys do a video on the courageous class strike cruiser???? Love the design but need specs
Quite a nifty ship. I liked the refit version more than the first incarnation. That one felt too JJ-y.
Also, have you considered the Insignia Class or New Orleans class?
Can you guys do a briefing on the STO Odyssey Class?
+Ryan Robbins Yes we intend to!
I can see a least 3 ships layered into this design, the Sovregin, the Galaxy, and the Intrepid
Also Excelsior and Proto-Ambassador.
Ooh this would be a nice Enterprise F or G.
A sovereign upgrade with a jj verse armored 2ndary hull not hard to picture .
Have you considered doing the Jem'Hadar battlecruiser? (Or dreadnought carrier, for all us STO players)
+lookoutlegolas We have and it is coming out soon!
Sovereign saucer, Galaxy neck, Odyssey hull.
love the look of this ship
side view, warp nacelle and strut look like jj hand phaser!
both versions of the ship are pretty cool, also curious if you will do any other fleetyards and rarely seen trek ships as its always great to see ships i've never seen though I would love to see yall take a look at the Odyssey, regent an/or the recent andromenda ship from STO

understandable well I just can't wait for what yall decide
cooler looking then the polaris class in star trek online
Maybe it's a personal "sleek" thing (Iknow it's cliche) but carve off that seconary hull, literally that bulk and taper it to the aft? Yeah it have a sovereign feel too much, but better profile. like the Vesta. Cool, but bring the Necelles in a a bit ,lower them to flush with the hull. I suppose without the swan belly this ship looses it's distinction, but I dunno. That said without the "Torso"It'd be an Odyssey class sorta.
I see some excalibur in there. also enterprise g that I have in bridge commander. A bit of voyager on the saucer.
+simonriddick Toss the Enterprise-G, add in 2 scoops proto-ambassador, 1 scoop Enterprise-E, and a pinch of Reliant. Place design in the oven on 350 degrees for 3 months and you will get a Part 2 video.
+Michael Wiley sounds good :).
Nice design but the nacelles look odd to me, like they don't belong with the rest of the ship.
But maybe that's just me.
Looks interesting, but the refit sure cuts down on visuals a lot. It may be because it could be more armoured, but there are a lot of things in there that just look wrong.
+SIG442 I would like to hear your thoughts on the design. I may be able to resolve some design flaws in the refit in another version of the Polaris.
+Michael Wiley Ok, no problem. Let's give it a try :)
Original model:
I like the overall shape a lot, could really fit in with the Star Trek lore, that said there are some things that may need attention.
Refit model:
- Loosing it's secondary deflector for a few added windows makes no sense, better to place it back.
- The refit could probably use a extra few phaser strips to make it more dangerous, it's a cruiser refit and not a harmless shuttle ;)
- Closing up the rear as much as you did is probably taking away a lot from the original.
Michael Wiley I sure wish you good luck on that! Please do contact me when ever you got that ready! I like the general progress so far!
Very interesting ship, I don't know what else to say about it. I wish I had the skill to draw or design my ships in 3-D.
How about seeing the Intrepid class next. I think its one of the few hero ships not been done yet lol
+Matt Seakins The designing episode is filmed with Rick but it is a little bit of a complex edit with the amount of information we go though! Its an interesting one and it is filmed! will defiantly be out before the end of the year!
Awesome will look forward to it. Keep up the great work you guys are doing.
The secondary hull looks like a continued future enterprise b.
I dont see the JJ verse in it at all myself tbh
Just the lighting on the nacelle struts
+Stuart Foley wait, I think this is the ship designed for Star Trek armada3, it's full name is Polaris dreadnought and is actually a warship
+Star Excelsior (Starexcelsior) You are correct, but it's still the Polaris Class regardless.
God this is a beautiful ship. I'd love to have seen a series with this design. Not big on the refit unfortunately.
I have a better refit being worked on, for which I will share with the trekyards community. The "refit" as seen in the video above was made for Armada III, and the design team liked it and added it, though it has no way of fitting in a Dominion Wars-era timeline. It was a game, and not to be meant as canon.
i would love to see this in star trek online im in love with this shit beautiful work cant wait to see what she looks like next
In another Trekyards, could you do the Ambassador Class
+TmoneyHD Funny you mention that may in fact be one of the next Mission briefings already filmed and ready!
i would have liked to see a discussion between Stuart, Samuel and Micheal Wiley
+Daniel Henz It's coming.
+Michael Wiley i know, read it in your BCCthread
I'm sorry, what is your username at BCC?
+Michael Wiley 007bashir
When will we see the intrepid class (both of them)
+Jymography The Designing with Rick episode was filmed some time ago but it is a complex edit with a sound issue and lots of things to include as we talk about a lot of stuff. 100% before the end of the year!
Both of them? there's more than the vanilla Intrepid/Janeway's Voyager?
There are always fan re-designs and of course the Warship Voyager!
+power543
Oh, okay.
Overall, a pretty cool design though, the first version that is. Second version is kinda generic.
The Polaris Class ship reminds me of a Goblin Shark.
Interesting and good comparison. That never occurred to me.
the front view reminds me of the U.S.S. Vengence
Captain Foley can i make you guys some new templets for youtube ? THX just need the size and file time you need.~ T
aft view gives a voyager vibe
this should be the enterprise D in the JJ verse
I see the Vengeance from Into Darkness only with a closed of saucer and a normal Federation color scheme myself
+Michael Wiley I see the Vengeance in the saucer, the deflector, and the nacelles when I look at it.
If I were asked to choose I would choose the Polaris, but I do see the Vengeance in the Polaris.
your next Treckyards can u do the ambassador class
+Mr2013Drew Funny you mention that may in fact be one of the next Mission briefings already filmed and ready!
I wish they design ship from the tmp or twok era starships
I look at this ship from the front and see Excelsior Class. But that's just me.
Do people really hate the JJ design Enterprise? There are a few things I don't like (The distance between the engines, which are not that close in the original Ryan Chuch design by the way.) but it's still good.
+EnterpriseKnight Yes. Fans REALLY hate the Ryan Church/JJ Enterprise, because it is a different take on the TOS/TMP version.
I don't see how that's a problem. The Galaxy Class is another take on the Constitution, even the Sovereign is another take.
They want a good story rather the production company making a generic popcorn flick that makes over 400 million dollars.
this looks like a voyager from jjverse
i would like to se this ship in a Star Trek series....
I dont know why but this vessel reminds me of U.S.S. Dauntless
fans, doing for fun what someone is paid thousands to do professionally, but doing it far better.
I think that the ships you are "examining" top to bottom are getting a bit uncomfortable.........
this ship is awesome and we need new ships same old ships i love the fan ships just wish there was a spec sheet on her
Ask and you shall receive: trekmodeler.deviantart.com/art/Polaris-Specifications-566241271
did you design her wiley? if the new trek series has ships like this in it i will watch it thanks for the address
I designed the Polaris. Last time I checked, the new series was going to be post-Star Trek VI.
no please do not say that .. I did not watch enterprise because it was pre federation...
I was hoping the new series would be after DS9 the dominion war i want too see new ships new crew in that post war world...
not a star trek show set in the past no fun
for me
I'm deeply sorry you feel that way. If the new series is a hit, this conversation will mean nothing.
talk about the wep
This should have been the Enterprise F class. I am NOT a fan of the Odyssey class. The cut out out between the saucer and engineering section of the Odyssey makes no sense.
Sovereign class on protein shake
Looks like the E
its a good ship
ah yes those JJ Influences actualy came from the fact that its meant to be based on the USS Vengeance.
+FLAME4564 As the designer of the Polaris Class, there wasn't meant to be any connection to the Vengeance from Into Darkness. That's all fan speculation.
+Michael Wiley Hi Michael! Thanks for an amazing design!
Ah yes I can see the Vengeance, but I agree with Michael (the designer).
Indeed. And I agree too Although it may look like it. Beneath the surface the Polaris and the Vengeance are completely different.
dont see how this resembles jj designs at all
Needs two more nacelles
Prefer the refit version
I dont get hoe these guys seen this as the Enterprise E it looks nothing like it, The saucer / back and shuttle bay and landing pad are very Voyger esk and the lines scream intrepid class
It's similar to a Sovereign, Intrepid, Excelsior hybrid.
d+Voyager+e
It looks too much like the Odyssey class.
Funny, because I built it before Star Trek Online existed.
the prototype Polaris is far better than the refit . losing the capt. yacht and the blue crystal area. it lost alot of detail in the refit . the refit is far too sovereign .
+Mark Fields I'm currently reworking the mesh for a Part 2 video. Many of the comments I'm been reading here and in the video address some good points. I should be posting work-in-progress renders to the Trekyards facebook page fairly soon.
Wow,can't wait to see it . thank you
I don't like the stretched out neck.
Sorry to disagree, but that secondary hull protrusion is absolutely hideous, as is the over-flared aspect, and the nacelles are meh. The ship is almost okay, but those features just ruin it.
