Do I apply it before I’m about the straighten my hair or wait a few minutes before I straighten it , because the first time I used it I straighten it right after and there was a lot of steam and it looked like it was burning my hair more?

Yes apply before you straighten … I apply in sections and then wait a few minutes before using my flat iron
