Hey, the pureology colour fanatic is mostly just a leave in conditioner. No product is going to have 21 uses within (at the max capacity) such as it says it protects the hair but I definitely wouldn’t rely on this product for heat protection because it has so many other ingredients and purposes. This products is best to be used as a leave in conditioner great for detangling and softening your hair. If your looking for a heat protected please buy a product that only advertises as a heat protectant for heat tools and in general because you’ll be getting the most effective protection as the product was made for only that purpose. If this all makes sense aha. The multi task products I personally wouldn’t recommend for use of when using hot tools probably only blow drying as the heat is far less hot and damaging.
A way to test out if your heat protectant is actually doing it’s job, you can spray some of it on the back of your hand and let it dry down, then take your blow dryer on a warm heat setting and point it at the area you sprayed (obviously keep a safe distance between the blow dryer and your arm). You can tell whether or not your heat protectant is actually working by how warm the area with the spray gets. Essentially that area should be noticeably cooler than the areas of your skin without the product on it. Just a lil tip I thought I’d share with the girlies😘 love ya chica thank you for the consistent high quality content, you’re the best!!!
Another one I’ve seen, and this is in all seriousness 😂, is take a piece of bread and apply your heat protectant on a part of it and then put it in the toaster and see the difference in the toasted part and the part you applied the heat protectant. I saw JVN do it and was mind blown
I like to use the pureology leave in conditioner, and for heat protectant i use De Lorenzo Defence. Always use a seperate product that's specifically for heat protection, things that say added heat protection is a marketing thing. The pureology spray is great for a leave in conditioner but I wouldn't trust it alone as a heat protectant.
There is a hairdresser called The Blowout Professor that also makes hair videos. He said something like - if you’re going to flat iron your hair, you need to use a heat protectant specifically made for flat irons. So basically a regular heat protectant only protects against blow dryers. Thoughts ? Thanks !
I don’t care for that guy to be honest. I’m not going to take away the help he gave some people but he made some errors along the way. I think it’s his absolute car salesman confidence he has while saying those errors that irks me. He forgets people have textured hair at times for one. If you have curlier hair you’ll be able to pick up what I’m saying easily. Not saying you still won’t be able to. Anyway the heat protectant temperature has to be more then temperature of the tool. That’s basically it.
@@TracyD2 To be honest though surely a product made specifically to be a heat protectant would be better than say a leave in conditioner that just has a heat protectant aspect to it? Does kinda make sense to me. Both Abbey & the blow dry professor rave about Pureology leave in conditioner and I found it worse than useless on my hair. Made it really dry and did nothing to detangle condition or smooth. I so wanted to love it as so many rave about it but I tried it 3 times with awful results.

It does smell very strong I agree but so do so many hair products lately - like we have actual perfume to smell nice, all these scents competing with each other makes for a cocktail of conflicting excess scents on everyone. I walk past some people and gasp for air.
Abbey, I was literally going through your channel and tiktok 2 days ago looking for a video about heat protectants lol I feel like you read my mind, I always trust the products you recommend
Hi Abbey! Have you tried Pravana The Perfect Blonde Seal & Protect Leave-In Conditioner Spray. Provides deep hydration . My hair is fine and sensitized. Thank you for sharing amazing products and tips! I would love to know what are your favorite Kerastase products.
The B&B does nothing for my frizz and it's too heavy for my fine, wavy and frizzy hair. I do use it however for its amazing scent, but would not buy again. Perhaps I'm using it wrong though, I just add to wet / dry hair and I don't blowdry. The smell is lovely, making it a very expensive hair perfume for me only.
Thank you for the recommendations. I want to try the Bumble and Bumble. I’m currently using Living Proof Restore Perfecting Spray and Dry Bar Prep Rally. Both have oils in them for dryer hair.

A spray heat protection is for thinner hair ,if u have really thick course hair ,u have to use a cream ,heat protectant, a spray isnt gonna work on thick hair ,& if your buying your hair products from a grocery store, your not getting anything thats gonna work very well
Hey Abbey If you don’t mind my asking..do you have hair extensions? I’m trying to figure out which products to use on mine especially between washing..ones specifically that will help when restyling (curling) etc
Hi abbey so this question is about k18 and olaplex. I can't find an answer on google and k18 danced around my the question.. so when hair is damaged and needs protein and moisture after bleaching. If u use k18 or olaplex do u still have to use protein treatments ? K18 says it repairs broken polypeptide chains (keratin chains) so wouldnt that fix any protein loss or damage?
I'm thinking I need to k-18 to heal my hair (had a hair dresser tone it to death, my whole head, when I just asked her for just a highlight strip on either side of my face) before adding heat tools but will keep this video for later.
I just copied this from Ulta's site and it says it Primes it for heat , so I would take it that it is a heat protectant . Color Fanatic Multi-Tasking Leave-In Conditioner Spray is a multi-tasking leave-in treatment that primes hair for heat, detangles, protects from damage, and add shine from root to tip.
Hey abbey as a undergrad science student I really appreciate you educating people on the nonsense that these big brands put out to scare consumers. Also all you recommended products are amazing love from Canada
I think I can officially call myself a big Abbey lover because I literally buyed every single product, mentioned in this video over the past few months. 😅💞 And what can I say, I will do so over and over again. Just because she is dang right.
A scientific question about the color wow dream coat that I can’t seem to figure out, eventhough I am reading the same hair science book as you😅 Does the color wow dream coat prevent other products (like hair masks and leave-in conditioners) from working? It says that it stays in your hair for about 3-4 washes and acts like a coat or film around the hair strands. Doesn’t that mean that it prevents other products that need penetration, like olaplex or K18, from working in your hair for about 3-4 washes?
With my experience, it was like using Rain-X on my hair. Water beaded up on it, but my hair remained dry. I could hear and feel my hair snapping off whenever I ran my fingers through it. I also noticed a buildup of it, so my stylist told me not to use it and she even showed me how to use it. Sadly, it didn't work for me.
If you wanna use a actual heat protection you will use something that’s made for JUST THAT.. not something that’s a 21+ benefit it helps but it’s not a actual just heat protectant..
I am not smart enough to analyze the ingredients but if you read the description, it says it’s a heat protectant but it doesn’t specify the temperature. That’s where it gets iffy because does it protect from hair dryer heat(milder) or the heat tools(much hotter). Compared to say the bumble and bumble primer description is clear that it protects from heat upto 450F.
Thats right. He recommends Redken Big Blow out for drying your hair with a hair-dryer.When you use hot irons use Redken Hot Sets 22.This can protect up to heat over 400 F
Hey Abbey! have you ever try micellar water on cotton rounds on the scalp (same as you would on the face) instead of dry shampoo? That seems to work on my super sensitive-dry shampoo-hating scalp
Hi! I’m a little confused, the Pureology and Bumble one seem to be conditioners/detanglers for after washing hair… Are these heat protectants? Do you have any heat protectant spray recommendations that can be used on dry hair? Like a heat protectant to add once you’re done blow drying. I use something before blow drying but what about before curling? Thank you! ❤
For those on a budget: The L'Oreal Dream Lengths Heat Slayer spray is THE best affordable heat protectant spray I've ever tried! ❤ Also, great ingredients in it! Including Niacinamide, Amodimethicone, Castor Seed Oil, Panthenol, Hydrolyzed Wheat Protein and Salicylic Acid
I love the Bumble & Bumble, but I really want to try the Pureology spray, mostly just because I love trying new products 😄 Thanks for another great video, Abbey!
@Suzie Althens I never used the Bumble and Bumble but the Pureology was Fan-freaking-tastic, chefs kiss good! I just bought the huge one! It's $, but OMG!
Abbey, abbey, Abbey - NO way....The products that are multi-use are NOT good heat protectants. Pure Gimmick - no way would I trust Color Fanatic to protect my hair from a straightener. Love this spray, but no way to trust for heat. Maybe a light blow dry, but not any kind of real heat. Any multi-use product is an absolute no go for actual heat protectant. Usually agree and like your advice, but this is an absolute NO.
I agree with you. I use the All in Ones only as detanglers after a shower. I always use a separate heat protectant with no water given that I don’t want my hair to sizzle when I use my appliance.
I've got a question about Amodimethicone. I was told that it was one of the 'bad 'cones' because it coats your hair and is not water-soluble. Meaning it won't let any conditioning products actually get into the hair. What's the truth behind that?
I'm pretty curious about the Oribe. I have very fine and thin hair so I need light heat protection. I recently rediscover the Redken hotsets I think my mom used it in the 90s. Anyway I like it because it's not heavy but has a lot of old.which my hair needs. But I would like even lighter.
Squishing and pulsing in your hair products he!ps immensely with absorption. Its especially effective with your conditioner in the shower. Curlies and wavies do this all the time. Game changer! Good video Abbey!
I love the Pureology and Bumble and Bumble but both give me breakouts on my face and body (even if I'm careful about keeping my hair off both). I'll have to give the other two a try.
Have you tried the sally beauty knockoff product for the color wow? It's called sleek and it has a very similar packaging. Im wondering how it compares though
can we get an updated heat protectant video? I have been dying to see what the best heat protectant spray is on dry hair, for some reason I cannot find any, and would love to know your opinion!
Kerastase discipline Fluidissime is my favorite heat protection spray. Gives amazing SLIP (amodimethicone as second ingredient), isn't oily or heavy. Makes it super soft, sleek, and gives natural looking shine.
@@yuliyahrybachova6473 naturally mostly straight/slightly wavy, medium/fine strands, medium density. Has worked great on both my natural and bleached hair
I noticed you put that Bumble and Bumble spray is $22.. have you found it somewhere that cheap or have a code that brings it down to that price?? I know at Sephora and Ulta it’s $32. I go through it so quickly and love it so much.
If you have texture it’s a good idea to squeeze products in. It gets the product into more of the hair instead of skipping around in different areas. If I’m making any sense today.
Disappointed, you do not really speak to how you would use these as a heat protectant, like how they would actually guard your hair from hot tools. I don't think these items alone could do that. They are more multiuser detaingler sprays
What are your thoughts on drugstore dry shampoo after the majority have had recalls in the past few years, especially recently (this month)? Batiste, Not Your Mother's, Dove, Tresseme, Nexxus, Suave. This is why I have trust issues with drugstore hair care. Almost every brand is owned by Procter & Gamble or Unilever and when there's cancer-causing ingredients found and recalls, it affects almost everything. 😵💫
I really love the bumble and bumble primer but it's so expensive. I'm more of an aerosol type heat protectant person but I do love leave-ins that have heat protection in them. 💜
I bought the bumble and bumble invisible oil primer through Amazon, I hated how it left my hair after applying it, sticky, stiff and tangled. Is that normal? I was expecting a detangler kind of feeling and softness, but nothing like that happened, I am really thinking that maybe I got a fake Chinese product 😢
Do heat protectors actually do anything because spraying it makes my hair sizzle and how is misting a little liquid doing anything? It seems like it just fries my hair.
So here's a question: Does heat protection products really work? After watching this ruclips.net/video/5ZiK6X-kb8k/видео.html and this: ruclips.net/video/PC7z8Y43ne8/видео.html and a bunch of other videos testing heat protecting products I started to question if this is really affective? a way to make us spend more money? or even more damaging? Love to hear your thoughts about that
Hey Abbey!!! Love you and your videos! QUESTION: what if our hair is SO thin and fine (due to hair loss) th at every time we spray a leave in- it never actually makes it in the strands? If that makes sense. I literally have to spray into my hand and coat what little strands I have left or the leave in just gets the air and NOT my hair 😞❤
Abby, can you please do another video on heat protectant for dry hair? I use it like you use the Oribe bit that was is a bit 💵. Another guy I follow on YT really pushes the Redken thermal spray (red bottle) but Ulta reviews say it’s sticky. Thanks!!
I flat iron my hair bone dry if not my hair will sizzle. I love the Ion heat protectant spray that’s mainly all silicones and the Eva NYC spray primer it’s also all silicones. They do a fantastic job of protecting my hair when it’s dry. I don’t use any heat protectant with water unless my hair is wet/ damp and I’ll be using a blow dryer. I make sure I don’t spray near my scalp to avoid a greasy scalp. I have all the products she mentioned but I only use them as detanglers when my hair is wet. The Ion heat protectant spray and Eva NYC primer will not make your hair sticky or crunchy like many heat protectants do. Good luck 🌸🌸🌸
I don’t love the price tag on Oribe products and I’m a bit annoyed that it sounds like the best fit for my needs. 😂😂😂 It legit sounds great for me, thanks!
I LOOVVEEE the bumble and bumble. It smells amazing, it has a creamy texture, i feel like it truly reduces freeze by A LOT. I have A LOT of hair that's also long and a single full size bottle has lasted me a long time. I'm sad to say this is my first heat protectant at 24😬 but i don't think i'll ever replace this product for another one.
Abbey, have you ever used Foxy Bae? I use their magic 12-in-1 and it is too nice. its under $20 and it's a heat protectant, helps with breakage, makes my hair shiny, and smells nice! I'd love your review/thoughts on it, please.
Hi Abbey! First of all thanks for the informative video. Unfortunately, many of the products you recommend aren't available in mh county. So, could you mention what INGREDIENTS should we look for when buying a heat protectant? That way we can decide if the product will really protect the hair or not 🙏🏻
I’ve seen Matt loves hair recommend aerosols for that, but when asked if sprays, or oils like olaplex no 7 with heat protection are okay for dry hair and heat tools he said YES it’s just preference that aerosols go on easy on dry hair
Unfortunately I really struggle to find good all in 1 heat protectant & conditioning sprays at the drugstore but I've shared some in previous drugstore haircare faves videos!
Hey Abbey! (And community) Was wondering if you are supposed to blow dry these sprays dry before you use a curling iron? Or if they are meant to be used wet on the hair?
The products she mentioned are meant to be used on wet/ damp hair and a blow dryer. I have them all. If you’re going to use an appliance like a flat iron or curling iron make sure that your heat protectant has dried if the first ingredient is water. If your heat protectant is mainly silicones and NO water it’s safe to use your flat iron or curling iron. Why? Silicones won’t make your hair sizzle or burn. Silicones becoming a layer of protection around the hair strands. When the heat protectant has water the water has to dry/ dissipate first if not you’re going to sizzle your hair. Trust me you don’t want that. Good luck 🌸🌸🌸
Hi Abbey please help me I am literally sitting here crying trying to take care of a 22month old child and stressed out because the last few days I've noticed my hair falling out I mean quite abit of hairloss when I shower and I've noticed this after using a product called flora & curl cream shampoo their honey and rose one it is soooo drying but I thought maybe that's how it's suppose to be. Idunno what to do I bought the k18 hair mask and also the opaplex shampoo and conditioner not too long ago is there anything else you can recommend to stop my hairloss? Like my hair strands almost look blonde like there dying I am so upset and don't know what else to do 😪
I think it’s quite common to loose hair after childbirth 😢 but I was told that we get extra hair broth during pregnancy do it does even out over time 😬all be it sounds late for you being 18months past. I’m sorry to read it’s stressing you though I know with my fine hair I put oil in the very ends each evening to help reduce the moisture loss. I hope you get some good advice from others in the chat too 💕
Is 22 months considered too late for postpartum hair loss to occur ? I know a lot of women who keep taking their prenatals to help their hair after birth. Otherwise, have you been to a Dr and ruled out anything medical ? Thyroid, iron/ferritin, pcos, vitamin deficiencies like D and B12 ? Also a dermatologist to exam your scalp….
I've read many places that one should allow the heat protection product to dry completely before using the curling iron, otherwise it will badly burn & damage one's hair. Do you think that's true? Can one use the curling iron when one's hair is still damp from the heat protection product? Thank you for all the great information!

Was watching another RUclipsr who own a salon and he said leave in conditioners shouldn't be used as Heat Protectant alone. Even the pureology one.
What should be used then???
I just copied this from Ulta's site and it says it Primes it for heat , so I would take it that it is a heat protectant .
Color Fanatic Multi-Tasking Leave-In Conditioner Spray is a multi-tasking leave-in treatment that primes hair for heat, detangles, protects from damage, and add shine from root to tip.
Correct! I saw that as well on Blowout Professors' RUclips account.
He says to use redkens
@@reginasimon8784 something for ONLY heat protection..
Hey abbey as a undergrad science student I really appreciate you educating people on the nonsense that these big brands put out to scare consumers. Also all you recommended products are amazing love from Canada
Thank you so much! xx
I think I can officially call myself a big Abbey lover because I literally buyed every single product, mentioned in this video over the past few months. 😅💞 And what can I say, I will do so over and over again. Just because she is dang right.
Awww thank you so much & I'm so glad you're loving everything!!
Me too!! 🤍 I USE both leave ins thanks to her!!! Keep doing what you do!
@@lifeoflw84 yeah me too! And the wow dream coat really crushed everything for me! 👏👏Lots of love!
That’s a good point. I wonder that as well.
I’ve had the exact same question, it’s kept me from buying it. Stays on the hair through 3-4 washes. That’s not something I want in a product.
@AbbeyYung @abbeyung
The pureology is JUST a leave-in conditioner, not a heat protectant. That’s a marketing gimmick. You want to use a separate heat protectant.
Eh… source?
I love the pureology leave-in. Would you share how you found out/know it's not a heat protection?
If you wanna use a actual heat protection you will use something that’s made for JUST THAT.. not something that’s a 21+ benefit it helps but it’s not a actual just heat protectant..
I am not smart enough to analyze the ingredients but if you read the description, it says it’s a heat protectant but it doesn’t specify the temperature. That’s where it gets iffy because does it protect from hair dryer heat(milder) or the heat tools(much hotter). Compared to say the bumble and bumble primer description is clear that it protects from heat upto 450F.
Yeah….. I think this is a very great try but not true.
Everyone go follow Chris Wenzel aka the blowout professor. Pureology live in conditioner is not a heat protectant
Thats right. He recommends Redken Big Blow out for drying your hair with a hair-dryer.When you use hot irons use Redken Hot Sets 22.This can protect up to heat over 400 F
She said pureology color fanatic
Hey Abbey! have you ever try micellar water on cotton rounds on the scalp (same as you would on the face) instead of dry shampoo?
They also do a leave in conditioner with heat protection which is a creamy consistency good for thick frizzy hair!
Does it leave the hair greasy? Im looking for one that isn't greasy
@@paloma3483 No actually, it's very lightweight. My hair gets oily very easily and the spray didn't affect how long my scalp takes to get greasy.
@@grespinosa You're welcome! Hope you like it just as much 🥰
Ohh thank you does it help to detangle too? 😊
I love the Bumble & Bumble, but I really want to try the Pureology spray, mostly just because I love trying new products 😄 Thanks for another great video, Abbey!
So do I!! Hope you love it if you try it. thanks for watching xx
Me too! I love Bumble and Bumble on my baby fine curls, but now I wonder if Pureology would be better. Hmmm...
@Suzie Althens I never used the Bumble and Bumble but the Pureology was Fan-freaking-tastic, chefs kiss good! I just bought the huge one! It's $, but OMG!
@@suziealthens1258 I will try the B & B then. I have thin, wavy hair. The Pureology leave-in is oily, waxy and gross in my hair
A little goes a long way with B&B. Can get heavy & greasy if you have thin/fine hair.
What are your thoughts on the Kerastase thermique creams? They have so many different kinds
can you pls do the best drugstore heat protectants I don't have $50 to spend on one product
I love the tresseme heat, it has a watery consistency and never weighs my fine hair down!
That's a great one!
It’s a great one! I have crazy coarse hair and it is also curly so my ends are fuzzy no matter what. I like the tresemme for drugstore protectant.
Squishing and pulsing in your hair products he!ps immensely with absorption. Its especially effective with your conditioner in the shower. Curlies and wavies do this all the time. Game changer! Good video Abbey!
Yeah that helps it to absorb better. I notice the ska when I use jade roller or other face tools after applied serum for example:))
Abbey did a short on this I think it was a no no 😅
Just wondering your thoughts on the brand CHI. I see it at the drugstore but it also seems to be a salon brand. Curious your thoughts!
can we get an updated heat protectant video? I have been dying to see what the best heat protectant spray is on dry hair, for some reason I cannot find any, and would love to know your opinion!
I’m searching for this too!
Kerastase discipline Fluidissime is my favorite heat protection spray. Gives amazing SLIP (amodimethicone as second ingredient), isn't oily or heavy. Makes it super soft, sleek, and gives natural looking shine.
What type of hair do you have?
@@yuliyahrybachova6473 naturally mostly straight/slightly wavy, medium/fine strands, medium density. Has worked great on both my natural and bleached hair
@@leahdomingo7723 oh, cool, you're my hair sister, mine is the same! Will check this thing out
I love it too its amazing on my fine hair and it does wonders! Heat protection, smoothness and the smell is bomb too
Best budget pick: John Frieda daily nourishment spray leave in conditioner. 3rd ingredient is amodimethicone.
I just wish the pureology spray had a better scent, the formulation is amazing but it smells so bad🤢
Disappointed, you do not really speak to how you would use these as a heat protectant, like how they would actually guard your hair from hot tools. I don't think these items alone could do that. They are more multiuser detaingler sprays
They coat your strands and the ingredients in them protect your hair from the heat. That’s how ALL heat protectors work.
Do you think you can use the dreamcoat on dry hair before straightening as a heat protection? 😄 Love from Sweden 🥰✨
Do heat protectors actually do anything because spraying it makes my hair sizzle and how is misting a little liquid doing anything? It seems like it just fries my hair.
So here's a question: Does heat protection products really work? After watching this
ruclips.net/video/5ZiK6X-kb8k/видео.html
and this:
ruclips.net/video/PC7z8Y43ne8/видео.html
and a bunch of other videos testing heat protecting products I started to question if this is really affective? a way to make us spend more money? or even more damaging?
Love to hear your thoughts about that
Hey Abbey!!! Love you and your videos!
QUESTION: what if our hair is SO thin and fine (due to hair loss) th at every time we spray a leave in- it never actually makes it in the strands? If that makes sense. I literally have to spray into my hand and coat what little strands I have left or the leave in just gets the air and NOT my hair 😞❤
The Eva NYC 10 in 1 spray is amazing and affordable.
Could you do a video on Aveda Products? If they are worth it/ diving into the ingredients they put in and if they truly are 90% naturally derived?
$44 for that TINY Oribe product? Bull-fucking-shit!!!
Is she an expert in hair? Or just someone with beautiful hair? That’s something important to know!
You have the BEST most informative videos. Have you tried Redken One United?
Can you do a best drugstore thermal heat protection video?
Wondering recommendations for drug store locally available brands?
No drug store?
Abby, can you please do another video on heat protectant for dry hair? I use it like you use the Oribe bit that was is a bit 💵. Another guy I follow on YT really pushes the Redken thermal spray (red bottle) but Ulta reviews say it’s sticky. Thanks!!
Can you please compare the Biosilk Miracle 17 to Purology Color Fanatic?? 🤗
Do you ever use a seperate heat protection just before straighteners..if so which one xx
Agreed I wish I could find an affordable dupe!
My favorite it the Redkin Play Safe Anti snap one which is a cream one but I love it cause my hair is damaged
If it ain’t broke don’t fix it as they say.
Hey im 25 rn
Im age twin of you
Ordered the pureology spray and color wow so excited to try them!

Abbey, have you ever used Foxy Bae? I use their magic 12-in-1 and it is too nice. its under $20 and it's a heat protectant, helps with breakage, makes my hair shiny, and smells nice! I'd love your review/thoughts on it, please.
Can you please share where is your shirt from? Thanks
Hi Abbey! First of all thanks for the informative video.
Unfortunately, many of the products you recommend aren't available in mh county. So, could you mention what INGREDIENTS should we look for when buying a heat protectant? That way we can decide if the product will really protect the hair or not 🙏🏻
What about heat protectant for dry hair, before putting hot tools?
I’ve seen Matt loves hair recommend aerosols for that, but when asked if sprays, or oils like olaplex no 7 with heat protection are okay for dry hair and heat tools he said YES it’s just preference that aerosols go on easy on dry hair
Do you happen to have any cheaper alternatives?
Unfortunately I really struggle to find good all in 1 heat protectant & conditioning sprays at the drugstore but I've shared some in previous drugstore haircare faves videos!
What about the moroccan oil heat protectant spray?
Yes, I needed this vid! 🙌
I've read many places that one should allow the heat protection product to dry completely before using the curling iron, otherwise it will badly burn & damage one's hair. Do you think that's true? Can one use the curling iron when one's hair is still damp from the heat protection product?
Thank you for all the great information!
