I’m a newbie to your methods, and I don’t know how I got to be 54 years old without knowing this…and I applaud you for teaching all of us!!! I have followed two pieces of advice from this video - don’t continue to blow out a section of hair once it is dry, and don’t use products which claim to combine several functions - and already my frazzled damaged hair is starting to look better. Thank you so much, neither of these things had ever occurred to me before!

Truly so thankful I came across your videos. I have always thought I'm just screwed when i have to do my hair at home. It comes home beautiful from the salon but after the first wash, it's never the same... But thanks to tour guidance i have made choices to try new simple techniques (like trying a blow dry brush for beginners) , followed rules and tips, and even though i am not a pro at all yet, my hair turned out decent (like a salon) and has stayed nice for the past 3-4 days for other styles just as you have suggested. Thank you for giving us who don't know hair, knowledge and hope that we can be sexy beautiful too.❤
I have that Kenra spray! I have curly hair and usually wear it curly. I bought that a long time ago.... crunchy curls. Didn't toss it. Glad I didn't. Thank you for showing me how to use it. I struggle with when I straighten my hair from it getting all gross by day 2. So many stylist and curly hair specialist seem to promote more products and gobs of it. I noticed using a tiny amount of curl cream my curls actually came out more spiral instead of waves with some random loose curls... and ONLY using leave in conditioner, curl cream and oil ONLY on the ends... I didn't realize my hair was actually pretty. 😳

I am 12 and I usually curl my hair without heat protection, but I am asking my mom is she could take me to get the best heat protection for my hair type. I am excited to start my healthy hair routine. ❤
I was very confused about heat protection and cream I always wondered what the difference was and I didn’t know you can use a wet brush after you spray your hair it makes sense to have the products all evened out and to use a pea size amount. I can watch your shows so many times and thankyou for making the time and effort you put into the video as there’s so many of us that need to learn the proper way.
I’m 58 with baby fine straight hair. In applying the knowledge I’ve gained from watching your videos, I’ve been amazed at the difference in my hair! As I’ve aged, so has my hair and how it reacts to styling. It takes a little more time and effort when styling my hair right now, but it is so worth it. Thank you!
Now I can't imagine taking care of my hair without your videos. I am struggling since years but never could find one right routine. Your tips have helped soooooo much. I have subscribed everywhere. I need you for the rest of my life for my good hair😊
Finally! You are the first person to take the time and clearly teach me how to take care of my hair and how correct blow drying makes a huge difference. The products you recommend are amazing and really make a difference ( 👍redken big blow) . I used to wash my hair every other day and was never happy with how it looked. Now I wash and blow dry it following your recommendations and it looks great, stays silky and shiny for a the whole week. I do have long hair and a lot of it. It takes time to dry it right, but it’s all worth it as it really lasts a long time. Thank you!
I live in the uk and bought the Redken Cream. Couldn’t find the heat protectant so bought Schwarzkopf. The difference in my hair is amazing! I’m also taking much more time on drying and straightening my hair. Thanks for the advice.
I am 71 with fine and thinning hair. No colouring. Could you recommend products, hairstyles and best brushes that won’t cause further damage? Thank you. Love your channel!
Another question: my stylist mentioned to me that no matter what high-end brand of heat protectant he used (e.g. Balmain, Davines, etc.), it would always dry out clients’ hair with continuous use. His clients reported the same as they used these products at home. That’s why he switched to only using a few leave-in conditioners that have heat protection in them. Curious if anyone had a similar experience, and if Chris could comment on it. Thanks 🙏
Happy to dispell this myth. Not all hairdressers are created equal and more than I care to admit, many of them speak from self contrived knowledge instead of an acquired knowledge from a reputable form of education. The bad part is that most clients know very little in comparison to their stylist about their hair so they trust everything they tell them; as well you should be able to trust the person caring for your hair. Nevertheless, for many reasons, people are comfortable with the just having knowledge they received from hair school and or that they receive from a ,self serving, product manufacturer that teaches them just enough to make them arrogant and slaves to their product but not truly what they need to know to make them competent. So they don’t seek continuing education get the science and the why of their craft to fuel and maintain them throughout their career. As technological advances continue to widen our understanding we have to keep a learning attitude so that we can continue to grow. That reigns true for life and for every industry under the sun.
It’s nice to know that my instincts were correct. I never thought of it along the lines of, “it has a lot of other benefits so heat protection may not actually be the best”, but I was coming from a space of incredulity, it just seemed too good to be true. I thought I was just being extra and dramatic about wanting to purchase a heat protection product on its own ON TOP of my other styling product that claims to offer heat protection, but I’m glad to learn that my skepticism wasn’t unfounded
These tips are amazing. I always wondered why my hair would get so frizzy after I flat ironed it. I didn’t blow dry it enough and now I know what to look for. Thank you!!!
I just love you. I’m a black woman with European ancestry. What you teach make sense for people like me too thank you. Up until today my wash day routine was to wash, put leave in conditioner and braid. I would let my hair air dry. Today I decided to sit under the dryer for a hour on low heat because air drying takes too long. 1am my hair is still damp. Today after I dryed my hair it’s still slightly damp. Do I need a heat protector? Yes I know that I need to get some rinse out conditioner too. It’s on my list. Thank for listening.
Tytytytyty for your instructional videos! Just went2my stylist this week and hadn't been2her in a couple of months. She immediately notices the huge difference in my hair's condition. She said it even feels thicker! Just forwarded my Mom ur daily heatless routine.
So I really appreciate what you are sharing in these videos. You never talk about those of us who actually prefer our hair to be curly/wavy and use a diffuser. I wish you would😊
What amazing time to be alive ! I was around ppl that were stylists. I knew a pee size of info and I always wished I knew this treasure of info that was so expensive to acquire and now is at our fingertips 😭 thank you thank you thank you
I had stopped buying heat protection for exactly that reason. I have now purchased heat protection hot sets 22 as I straighten my hair alot. thanks for your videos.
THIS WAS SO INFORMATIVE! I'm a teacher by trade, and I can't help but be a little critical in tutorial videos sometimes about how information is shared. Often, the 'lessson' isn't formatted well. But this was so great! Definitely subscribing.
I have thin baby fine hair and have ordered these products to try. I have never been able to use a heat protectant and my hair is hard to curl always weighed my hair down. Thank you for all this education!
I have yet to find a stylist that doesn’t try to ruin my hair. The number of people that put a flat iron on my very fine, bone straight hair while it is dry, adding nothing to it (and another did it after he bleached it 😤) is ridiculous. I get compliments when I use your blow dry cream recommendation (when I actually blow dry it) even though I don’t notice a difference yet.
This so much! I dread each time I go to the hairdresser's for a cut, because they blowdry my literal 3 strands of hair with such high heat that I get blisters on my scalp. My poor hairs need to fight for their life for a month afterwards.
I've been learning a lot from your channel as a new follower. I'm so happy to find you due to your amazing teachings! Thank you so much! I have curly hair and I bought the Shark Flexstyle and I've been doing some blowouts to change my hairstyle sometimes... in my ignorance, I wouldn't need a different product for blowouts and one for a flat iron! I've never noticed that difference.
Detangling for my textured hair has never been a 30-60 second task 😂 & now that you mentioned it, I might've definitely entertained a "wimpy heat protectant with emotional issues." I also recommend wrapping your straight hair & using heatless curl methods to maintain curls to keep your hair looking good.
Thank you Chris for ur videos & explaining everything step by step. My hair has not looked this great for many, many years. My daughters are amazed how my hair looks now & this only took 2 weeks. So thank you so much for sharing ur knowledge 😁
Thank you! I bought the reskin heat protectant because you recommended it but sprayed it everywhere too close and my hair was a sticky mess. Came on Internet to find a tutorial for this low hold reskin product glad you popped up.
Hello I hope u can check my question here : my hair is straight with thin hair and not curled but damaged from highlights so after using professional shampoo and conditioner what should I put : leave in then serum if I don’t want to do blow out and i add heat protector if I want to do Curly hair ?
I was so curious to know if I needed a thermal spray and a blow dry cream, and you answered that question so nicely here! Thank you so much. Gonna get some Kenra! 😏
Hey!! I am totally one of your OG subscribers!! DUDE you are a RUclips STUD!!!! You were under a thousand subs when I joined the gang, and youre pushin 300 thou now! CONGRATS because you deserve it! I am so grateful for everything you have taught me. I was wondering if you would do an episode on bougie premium $2000 human hair wigs, and what to use and not use on them. I do not make a hair move EVER without consulting you FIRST. I have a bougie custom wig, and I gotta talk to the king. I LOVE YOU MAN!!!!!!!
The practical examples you make have me laugh so hard (in a good way🤣): the part-time surgeon, the half cooked hamburger, the "hungry person" on the first date, the high school sweetheart... all this applied to hair...hilarious. thanks Chris
I tried your method today and already my hair is insanely gorgeous and I didn't even need to style it. I just let it air dry just to see what it would do.
Thank you for this. I hate when stylists tell me to just buy things that claim xyz. This stuff isn't regulated and they can claim anything. I have found good blow dry creams but struggle with protectants for flat ironing. I will try the Kenra. I'm also very skeptical about the amounts needed. I know with sunscreen, the SPF tests are so subjective and we tend to need to apply a lot more sunscreen than folks typically apply. I can imagine that heat protectants are similar and you probably need a lot more to get the claimed effect.
Amazing information! I use expensive salon shampoo & conditioner but my stylist has never emphasized the importance of the other products. I haven't used a serious heat protectant and therefore my hair is short & damaged (just like you said!). Never again....just ordered the Pureology leave-in and the thermal spray from Redken. Hoping my hair will actually grow longer & stop splitting. Thank you so much for sharing!
Amazing how we think alike on this matter.. since I stop using all the crap on my hair and invested on only couple good products…. My hair booted in growth… in 3 years it went from shoulder to butt length….😊
Please do a video for those that workout! There’s no way my hair lasts more than 3 days with how sweaty I get. I use hot tools every day. 🤦🏻♀️ thank you!
This was so helpful! Thank you!!! I got all your recommended products for my hair type and I see a big difference already! After a few weeks Tonight I started using a flat iron. Thanks for the instruction!
Thank you for all these videos. Yes I have had the disappointing experience with these products because I was using EVERYTHING wrong. Just after two weeks, I can see my new routine is working. Can’t wait to see my results after two months. And, you are in Florida! I usually expect whatever people say won’t work in part due to our weather. I wish you all the best
Thank you so much for posting this video. I have curly hair and have been wearing it natural for over a decade. I recently decided to try straightening agin. I’m 31 now but haven’t used any heat since I was a teenager. Long story short I didn’t care enough to use heat protection back then and before this video felt kind of lost / was definitely using WAY TOO much. This video is so incredibly helpful. Thank you!!!
Hey, Chris! I've used all your recommended products and you have not steered me wrong! I am now able to go longer between washes and my hair looks and feels great! However, the heat protectant is too much like hair spray for me. I understand it helps hold style, but do you recommend a protectant that is not for styling and just for heat protection?
Is it necessary to use a blow dry spray and thermal styling spray? Or is one enough, if so which one? For example, Kenra Platinum Blow-Dry Spray and the Kenra Thermal Styling Spray 19.
I know it's a year later, but I remember wondering this last year when I saw this and again now. They have different "thermal" sprays and I have no idea if one is better than the other 🤷♂ Although according to the video, the blow dry spray should probably be used like the blow dry creams he talked about - when you're blow drying your hair. And the thermal sprays would be for hot tools like irons.
THANKS FOR SHARING!!! Yogur video si very good, many details to take care at the moment to use a hair protector. Thanks again! You have one more follower from Mexico now!!
Hey Chris, I‘m so glad that I found your channel. It’s really game changing. I just wonder how I can protect my hair in vacations. I mean the worst case altogether: salt water, pool water, much sun, everyday washing and styling (because of the salt and chlorine). What would you recommend for this case?
I’m a pro HD, if this helps pls follow. Detox or wash your hair w Redken cleansing cream, followed w your regular shampoo, + conditioner or hair mask if it feels too raw / dried out. Then out of the shower you will apply your hair leave in product. The leave in is as equal as that cream you use in your body after shower. Protection !
So much good information in here. I do have some questions. What is the difference between blow dry cream and blow dry spray? I have a number of blow dry sprays and I’ve never even seen a blow dry cream. I use a smoothing balm on my hair before I blow dry it but after I use my blow dryer heat protectant spray. I think I’m doing that wrong. So, as I understand from watching several of your videos, it goes like this, after washing and conditioning: first, put in leaving conditioner, then put in your blow dry cream or spray. If you use a flat iron, say the next day, do you reapply heat protectant spray?
I appreciate your channel a lot, however, it’s really not targeted toward curly hair and I find myself amiss with all these techniques that wouldn’t work for my fine curly/wavy hair. Sometimes I use a 1/2 inch curling iron to pump up the definition, volume & longevity as it makes the curls last much longer. One example would be spraying & brushing wouldn’t work on my hair. I’m gonna keep trying to watch videos but professional tips for naturally curly are rare to find!
This was soooooo helpful. So here's my question... After I have masterfully styled my hair, how do I wear it to sleep to keep volume and curls? I already use a silk pillowcase.
so what I usually do it put my hair up in a scrunchie then I do the leave out (pony tail) into barrel curls and Bobby pin them down (I’m currently in school) so I hope this helps :)
I recently just purchased the sleepytie. I started following all of his rules and my hair has improved soooo much. But I was struggling with sleeping too. I have sleepytie a try and I am AMAZED!
Just want to say thank you from the ❤ for all the information you're sharing. I have very thin hair and made all the mistakes one can possibly make.. As a teenager that was no problem, my hair looked always great. But now at the age of 30 the damage was undeniable. I was told to cut my hair every three months to get back to normal, but nothing changed. Until I found your channel. After 3 only three months my hair is "recovering". I got the Redken 22 (btw really hard to find it online when you live in Germany) but I have to find the courage to use heat again and to trust the product. All the things you explained worked out, let's see if I manage to use the iron safely (for the first time ever). Thanks Chris! A lot!
@@lidiamorelli8201 the online shop is called Ubuy. It is much more expensive there shipping included and I had to pay the taxes, too. Not convenient but I wanted to try that product.
thank you for this. I am a 30f and i have always worked outside. I have now moved up at work into the office and I'm worried about my presentation. I have never dyed my hair; I always wash, brush, and air dry down about once or twice a week and trow it up in a braid. i tried getting a trim every three months but i am always told i dont have enough dead ends but they will cut my hair if i want. My hair is ridiculously thick and has a bit of frizz to it so i have been looking to find a way to keep my hair looking kept all day. i should tell you that my hair is at about my waist and i am told that its healthy from root to tip. My hope is just that i can wear my hair down without it looking unkept. I can usually keep it up but while im at a desk, it gets heavy and hurts my neck and upper back. wearing it down is definitely easier while sitting for long periods of time.

Hi Chris! I love your advice. It's spot on. Would you consider doing a video for those of us who have naturally curly hair and use a diffuser?
Found your tiktok, took a look at your youtube channel afterwards and I don't regret it. Nice educational content! Thank you so much!! Be blessed.
I’m 52 and I learned so much!! Thank you!
The putting oil on the ends tip helped me. It doesn't get frizzy after styling and stays straight longer, I have curly mixed hair ❣️
I love this guy….wish I found him earlier in my hair care journey.
Thank you for writing the products down so we can read them!! I miss so much if peeps talk to fast. Great video!!
You were born for this! ❤
I knew a pee size of info and I always wished I knew this treasure of info that was so expensive to acquire and now is at our fingertips 😭 thank you thank you thank you
If you blow dry and curl, do you use both heat protectors?
Yes
I had stopped buying heat protection for exactly that reason. I have now purchased heat protection hot sets 22 as I straighten my hair alot. thanks for your videos.
THIS WAS SO INFORMATIVE! I'm a teacher by trade, and I can't help but be a little critical in tutorial videos sometimes about how information is shared. Often, the 'lessson' isn't formatted well. But this was so great! Definitely subscribing.
I agree! ❤
I love you technical description "gross". It's one of my favorite words. Lol. You're always so fun to watch not to mention easy on the eyes ;-).
ur videos are always so good. thank you for showing us with damaged hair how to look after it
I've been learning a lot from your channel as a new follower.
I love his use of the word "gross" ... it's spot on!! Thanks for a great vid.
❤OMG! I bought every thing you said, it was a couple hundred and I'm like ouch! But my hair is BEAUTIFUL now thank you thank you!!!
Getting cold here in Boston so gotta start blow drying my hair. Ordered the Redken big blowout and looking forward to using it!
Thank you! I bought the reskin heat protectant because you recommended it but sprayed it everywhere too close and my hair was a sticky mess. Came on Internet to find a tutorial for this low hold reskin product glad you popped up.
Would I use a blow dry cream before or after the pureology leave in conditioner?
Hey! Leave in conditioner first... And then blow dry cream after :)
@@BlowoutProfessor Thank you!!
Hello I hope u can check my question here : my hair is straight with thin hair and not curled but damaged from highlights so after using professional shampoo and conditioner what should I put : leave in then serum if I don’t want to do blow out and i add heat protector if I want to do Curly hair ?
Is the blowout cream a heat protectant?
My hair have improved so much after watching your videos and listen to your tips and Advil. Thank you so much 😊
Redken Big Blowout has been discontinued here in Europe……. :( do you have any other replacement recommendations for fine/medium hair ?
Would like to know that too 😊
Yes since recommended but not heter anymore, whats the options?
I was so curious to know if I needed a thermal spray and a blow dry cream, and you answered that question so nicely here! Thank you so much. Gonna get some Kenra! 😏
OMG I’ve been doing it all 😑 my poor hair, so glad I found you. Getting the products now!
If you’re a black woman with low porosity hair you may want to use a blow dry spray. Creams are often too heavy for our hair.
I would love to see your opinion on specific drugstore products like Tresemme Heat Tamer and their Keratin heat protectant, and L'Oréal and Garnier.
Another Great Leasson, Professor - your series would be worthy of a TED Talk!
I used Olaplex 3 tonight after seeing your other video. I plan to get Olaplex 6 this week. Thankyou so much for your advice!
Did it work?
Amazing how we think alike on this matter.. since I stop using all the crap on my hair and invested on only couple good products…. My hair booted in growth… in 3 years it went from shoulder to butt length….😊
Please do a video for those that workout! There’s no way my hair lasts more than 3 days with how sweaty I get. I use hot tools every day. 🤦🏻♀️ thank you!
Hey Carla I'm actually filming a video on this now 😂
Looking forward to this video - keen runner here who also has coloured hair - not a great combination for hair health 😃
I’m never listening to anyone else ever again!!! You’re the GOAT!!!
You can learn to do hair from any race. I am black with 4c hair learning from this.
I just love how succinct and informative no-BS you are - thank you!
Which heat protectant is best for coily hair?
You’re the best, so many mistakes and money that I’ve spent, and my hair is still pretty damaged. Now I understand why! You rock Chris! ❤
Thank you for recommending some cruelty free options. Hopefully someday Redken will stop testing on animals and they can become an option ❤️🐒🐶🐇🐈
Do you have to use separate product before blowrying then a separate product to iron the hair.
Any substitutions for the Redken blow dry cream? Doesn’t seem to exist on either Canada or US Amazon
Glad I found this video helpful. Cuz I bought a fantasia blow out cream. Now I will get the heat protectant spray when I straighten my hair
Do you have an alternative to Redken for fine hair? Redken tests on animals unnecessarily
Good point ❤ I use Italian brand Lisap. It's not heavy for fine hair and by EU laws they can't test on animals. So I really hope they don't ❤
Wow! Just came across this after searching for instructions on how to use redken hot sets thermal spray 22. Thanks so much for your instructions!
Omg I just bought redkin 22 and I was like holy shit it's crunchy 😂 so glad I found this
So much good information in here.
I wonder this too. I wash and blow dry my hair at night and flat iron it in the morning.
Thank you for your excellent how to by describing it well and also visually demonstrated examples! 🙏🏻❤️🙏🏻
Thank you for your super helpful video. I have fine hair and will definitely give the Redken Big Blow a try.
@@bethanydoherty837 I bought sleepytie but my hair is too short 😭😭
@@Sammy-mm3wp going to give it a try, thanks.
@sammy it worked perfectly
A lot!
Can I ask where did you find it? I am struggling too! thanks
Can I ask where did you find the Redken 22? I am struggling too! thanks
@@lidiamorelli8201 the online shop is called Ubuy. It is much more expensive there shipping included and I had to pay the taxes, too. Not convenient but I wanted to try that product.
Do I still need to use heat protectant if I’m just drying my hair with the hair dryer?????
He said no in the video, around 3:50
Nooo, u dont have to... U can apply a blow dry creamm tho, it will help your hair look very pretty
@@CollyWobbles._3 thanks
thank you for this.
