I'd love to see you make a video with tips on blow dry brushes, blow dryers, flat irons, etc. for complete novices. I've never used any of these and am hesitant to spend $100+ on any single tool when I don't know what the heck I'm doing with them.
@@kristinalatinski2122 that’s a pretty complex issue. There’s a lot that can effect hair loss, including underlying health conditions. It’s always best to check with your doctor or a dermatologist first.
Since you use & sale MOROCCANOIL what is your thoughts on the Moroccanoil Curl Defining Cream ? I have very wavy thin hair & I don’t use any heat on my hair .. I purchased your recommended products & love the results but I do have some issues with frizz Can you share your thoughts please ??
I have fine hair. A few years ago I took a sculpture class. When we carved limestone, a lot of tiny dust was everywhere. THIS WAS THE MOST AMAZING ROOT LIFTER AND STYLING PRODUCT. The stone dust did what no hair product has ever done.
Thank you so much for all of your advice! I'm in my 30s and have spent so much of my life believing that the world was just split into people with bad hair and people with good hair, and that I just had bad hair 😔 I stopped making an effort and just wore a bun or ponytail every day. Now I'm following all of these tips, switched to professional products and my hair looks AMAZING. I never imagined in my life that my hair could look this good. ❤
Chris, I can't thank you enough for your advice. I purchased your recommended products for hair trinity routine and you saved my hair's life. I'll use the redken volume shampoo/conditioner in the shower with the occasional dose of clarifying shampoo first for when a deep clean is needed. Then I'll spray the pureology leave in formula and gently brush through. Recently I bought the big blowout gel and I'll brush that in next right before blow drying. It just took it to the next level even more. I finish with only a little bit of the #7 bonding oil on the ends. I can tell that bottle will last me a long time. It is my choice to forego the blow dry brush or style because I work remote and there's no point if I'm not going anywhere much. I hardly ever use my straightener anymore. Plus I simply prefer my hair out of my face by using one of those phone cord hair ties or a claw clip. For anyone reading this, it may seem time consuming but it really isn't when your products are actually right for you. My brush now pretty much runs right through the hair and basic things don't waste time anymore. Also, I consider myself a minimalist and I don't like a ton of things on my counters. I love that each of your recommendations actually has a purpose. With that all summing up the happy ending, before I found your videos I was beyond discouraged. I had invested in the Aveda shampoos for a couple of years. While at first it helped with obvious dryness, overtime it would be a nightmare rinsing it out. I was very uncomfortable and I felt like it was permanently stuck to my head. Additionally I had a scary amount of hair shedding occurring. By getting rid of my Aveda stuff and adopting your suggestions, I was able to confidently schedule an appointment with my new stylist and take a much needed break from being blonde. The switch never would have been surprisingly good if not for you. I am exceptionally grateful. Thanks again.
Wow, I really don’t understand why it is working for everybody in the comments here. I got all the products Chris is recommending for fine hair, which was not easy because I had to get some products from the UK since it is not sold in Germany. And my hair looks so bad😢. I have never had problems with dry or frizzy hair and now my hair looks like a haystack. The only good thing is that I can easily wash my hair now every three days. I am so disappointed after I spent more than 100€ for all these products.
@@schnulliwutz8011 Yeah I don't fully trust his recommendations since I feel like Redken is a sponsor that he is paid to promote. I'm sorry you're having trouble.
@@RedRoseSeptember22 If he is, he's violating FTC guidelines. I don't see sponsored tags anywhere in his vids and I kind of doubt he'd risk that. Not really going to bat for him, I'm not an avid Chris fan or anything, just stating my opinion from the outside.
@@schnulliwutz8011 if you're trying to go more days without washing (which appears to be Chris's main goal) ... it seems you have achieved it. As for the "haystack" issue, it sounds like you tried the Redken pink shampoo. I've seen a lot of reviews saying it's drying. Seems ALL volumizing shampoos may be, I've seen reviews that say the same thing for other high end ones. Which is logical .... you need a strong cleanser to strip out all oil in your roots (and inevitably strip any that's managed to get on your mids and lows) because it weights your hair down and keeps it flat. You re-build the moisture back in with his technique - conditioner, gentle dry, leave in and oil. If your hair is straw like, it could be a lot of things ... do you really know your hair type? ---Are you using enough conditioner/leave-in?--- How are you drying your hair? Do you use a lot of heat? etc etc. Chris does say "find your hair soulmate shampoo" .... meaning what he recommends may NOT be the one. Redken pink is his fave, as he said in a diff video, because it's the best cleanser (aka oil-stripper). But maybe your hair type/issues don't warrant such a harsh product. Sucks to waste so much money, I completely agree.
Since I follow your recommendations for fine hair routine, my hair looks and feels so much better and is also healthier. It doesn't shed that much anymore, and I don't have to wash it every other day. Everyone asks me how my hair looks so beautiful, and even my hairdresser noticed the difference. ☺️ So thank you so so much for all of your tips. 🙏
I love so much that you encourage us to push through that first “not cute” style. It’s easy to feel discouraged, but you’re right: practice makes perfect!!
OK EVERYONE!!! THIS IS THE BLOWOUT PROFESSOR & should have a real Degree.I am saving this under FAVS and listening to this everyday until it sticks in my head. He is very generous with his knowledge , even more than he needs to be!! Thankyou!!
Awesome information!! I am 74, and have Lupus etc. My hair used to be thick, but now it's super thin, loosing hair esp at my hairline on my forehead. I have spent SOOO much money trying everything, and nothing helps.Your information is what I've needed to hear and products I need to try. I can't thank you enough!! And thanks for the Written information-you're a blessing!
My hair is fine and thin and it is frizzy so I have loads of volume. People think I have a lot of hair but it is just an illusion. I could go for a bit less frizz and volume. I live in SW FL and so far nothing I have tried will tame the frizz if the dew point rises above 60.
You might want to try Keratin smoothing. It’s the only thing that works for me and my fine hair, and I live in Indonesia with crazy humidity, similar to Florida.
Avoiding glycerin in your hair products (not shampoo or conditioner since you rinse those out) might help. Glycerin starts picking up too much moisture in the air when dew point goes above 60-65 F. The hair frizzes up due to glycerin in products seeking the moisture in the air too actively. Sadly not a lot of hair styling products avoid glycerin.
I feel you! People assume I have a lot of hair 😅 I don't. It's fine, brittle and looks like a birds nest when I wake up. Sometimes I almost have curls-yet not really. Usually it's just "messy" volume. I always wonder how people have such beautiful hair that falls & flows instead of "moves with your head like a straw hat".
I agree with @Drai423 about glycerin. When the dew point is higher, look for silicone products to lock your style in. Silicone got a bad reputation by tons of misinformation online. There are plenty of water soluble silicone hair products that work great. I’m in Texas, with fine wavy/curly hair and have the same challenge. You have to research and experiment with products. But there are a lot more out there now that can help, than ever before. The light Moroccan oil is my go to when I wanna lock out frizz. But it may not be enough for your hair. So experiment. Also, I would steer clear of Keratin treatments. Those can and will damage fine hair, and make it irreparable. This is because unfortunately, most stylists do not apply each step properly. To achieve a frizz free look requires a lot of work finding products that work with your hair and the season your hair is living in, and blow drying and round brushing to smooth. The Pantene pro-v commercials lied to consumers. Nobody wakes up looking like they just had a professional blowout done. It all requires dedication and work.
You have literally saved my hair!!!! Ever since the trinity method my hair has never looked better!!! This fine hair girl is getting volumizing shampoo and conditioner ASAP; thank you Chris, you're THE best!!!
Our guru coming THROUGH with the fine hair tips. You’re such a great teacher Chris thanks for allowing us to have fabulous hair! Will be trying all these as I definitely trust you after your other advice has TRANSFORMED my hair x
I recently found your videos. Your suggestions for fine hair have really helped me a lot. I can’t believe how much better my hair looks. Thank you so much for doing your videos.
The silk bonnet has made such a difference to the hydration in the ends of my hair when I wake up on days 2 and 3. Sure the roots are oily, so I definitely need dry shampoo but the ends used to always be frizzy and lose the waves I’d produced so neatly with my flat iron on day one. What I usually do is: day 1 wear my hair completely down and wave it with heat, Day 2 wear it half up half down and use dry shampoo, day 3 wear it completely up in a pony or bun again with dry shampoo and sometimes hair spray to tame the baby hairs. It feels sooo good to wash it the following day and start day 1 again with clean roots. I’m hoping my scalp will start to get used to this new routine and I won’t get so oily but I guess it’s something us fine hair girls have to put up with. I get oily on my tzone of my face too and it’s helped with keeping my skin youthful and looking younger than 35 so it’s pros and cons to everything!
You do almost the same as I do, I just don't usually curl my hair, just blow dry it. It took about two months before my scalp adjusted and now I can go a full four days between washes. I could probably go longer but I start feeling weird about not washing my hair, lol. Also I am 50 and had oily skin my entire life. I've got a few little lines starting to show but overall my skin is good!👍🏻
Same!!!! I used to tease my old coworkers (now good friends) that they could tell the last time I washed my hair based on this exact styling ritual 😂 I will say, between Covid (no going out much in 2020) and this channel, I can go 6-8 days now without washing 🙌🏻
Then again, for me an itchy scalp drives me nuts so I think the bonnet will make my scalp get moist and that’s how an itch starts for me. There’s gotta be more than one way to sleep and keep the hair from frizz
I have all these products and have been using them for a few months now. My hair has never looked better! I decided last month to chop my damaged ends off and start from scratch using all of these products and it’s made a huge difference! I am so much happier with my hair now
Hi Chris, I have fairly long, fine, natural almost honey blonde hair with natural body. I was once told by a stylist over 35 years ago that the amount of body in my hair is why I couldn't get curls to last. So most of my life has just been basic wash and go hair. I am really excited to find your channel. I am hoping your tips and product suggestions will finally get some better results for my hair. The one thing I haven't found in you videos, is how to apply the conditioner in the shower. I mean if there are better ways to apply shampoo, I would think there have to be tricks for applying conditioner too.☺
I found your channel two weeks ago and have watched ALL of your videos. You have a gift. Thank you for sharing your knowledge with us. You understand hair and make it so easy to understand. And fun! For 33 years, I’ve been desperate to find a solution to my crappy hair. Hairstylists never show off my hair on their social media :( and yet I try and try and have spent plenty of money at their salons doing exactly what they told me! :( Thank goodness for you. I’m so excited for wash day to practice my Blowout Professor hair routine. My hair is looking GOOD. (Currently chilling on the couch with my Olaplex 3 in!) I am confident with my hair for the first time in my life. Hair day is no longer a “gamble.” People can really look down on you sometimes if your hair is damaged. They’ll unconsciously infer negative connotation with you - like you don’t take care of yourself or maybe some even deeper is wrong with you :(. Wellllll, thanks to YOU, Chris, that is no more. Here’s a big hug from central NC. ❤💈👱🏻♀️
The kerastase elixir line is wonderful for fine hair if it’s not excessively dry or oily! It’s made such a huge difference. I’m excited to implement more of these tips!
Chris, thank you for your advice, finally I have a healthy hair and now I feel more confident!! Using all the products from the recommended list for fine hair, and learning each time to find my perfect amount of product etc. thank you very much! Greetings from Ukraine
I followed his advice and after only one shampoo, condition, leave- in conditioner and heat protection spray to seal my hair and blow drying it as he recommends - wow ! My hair has never looked so beautiful, healthy and frizz free ! I do sleep on a silk pillowcase, and my hair looks fabulous even on day four, with no heat styling to maintain the style in between shampoos. Thank you so much !! I wish I knew this years ago !! I would like his advice regarding a hair spray that works, and that smells nice please. ❤
Thanks so much for your advice Chris! After one day of following your advice , my hair has changed soooo much! It's "fine", "relaxed", "African-american", "ombre blond" hair! I would never in a million years have thought that your advice would apply to my hair type! A million thanks! Looking forward to my fabulous February hair thanks to you!
I just found his channel and I also have fine relaxed hair and have struggled with my hair my entire life!! I'm so excited to try his method and I'm so happy it worked well for you. Thank you for commenting!
This is what I needed to see. I have sebhorreic dermatitis and eczema and am a healthcare worker who wears ponytails all the time. My skin is sooooo greasy and I’m 50. Unbelievable. I can’t wait to try the products you’ve suggested. I’d be happy with 2 days frankly. I use dry shampoo on day 2 but it looks a bit sketch. Thanks for the help!!
Me, and my 4C Afro watching this like it applies to me. 🤣🤣🤣🤣 Love your content. It's a nice way to get an education. I enjoy hair science, even when it doesn't apply to me. 😅
I don’t think I’ve ever met anyone who liked their hair no matter the texture or African American, Caucasian, Asian, Latino literally none. If you have curly you want straight and vice versa go figure but fun to watch and I do learn something new every video.
Chris, I have been following you for about 3 weeks now. I purchased the hair products you recommended for fine hair, even the wet brush and the difference in my hair is amazing. I went from dull and frizzy to sleek and shiny. My hair takes forever to get oily, so I only wash 2 times per week. I have lost a tremendous amount of hair in the past 1.5 years due to excessive shedding (most likely stress) and I am hoping by doing what you recommend, it slows up. My question for you is: What about women like me that wear their hair up in a ponytail or clip the majority of the time? I work in the medical field. I have hair past my shoulders and tie or clip it up 90% of the time. Is there anything special we need to do to make sure we are not damaging our hair with ties to clips?
I'd be interested in any information Chris can offer. I work in the medical field too and have been pulling my hair back every day since 2020 (when we started wearing PPE due to Covid). I've had some hair loss which I think was due to pulling my hair back too tightly every day (perhaps stress has contributed to hair loss as well). I have some ponytail scrub caps which allow me to do a loose bun then tuck it loosely into the ponytail compartment. I used to pull my hair too tight (I think) even with the scrub cap, but no longer do that. If we aren't in an outbreak where we must wear full PPE, I have just been pulling my hair back loosely with a soft scrunchie (no scrub cap).
Research protective hairstyles. I find using bun pins, and no clips or elastics helps me. I vary where the tension comes every day, never pull it tight. Historical costumers are a good source of information. I use natural shampoo and conditioner and never have to redo it during the day as it doesn’t slip. So I end up brushing once a day and that is it.
I did your leave out technique with the big blow out, even tried less and it still made my hair greasy within 2 days where normally I can go 3-4 days with your routine :)
did you do iron work too? if I use the big blow out and only blow dry my hair it'll get greasy after 2 days. but If I curl it after (using the thermal setting spray) I can get it fabulous looking through day 3, even 4 sometimes.
@@kristinaj2147 yep! It feels weird to do it, the spray goes on a little sticky, but once you brush your curls out it's like magic and they last for days.
This is great advice. One contention, though: I have fine hair and I get amazing body and volume when I let my hair air-dry. If I try to heat style it, it looks good initially, but falls flat within an hour. Air-drying can be the right choice for fine hair.
I had this issue with styling too until I started using a curling iron after drying. I wash my hair 2x a week, once on Sunday and once on Wednesday. I let it air dry on Sunday, and heat style it on Wednesday. The first half of the week I have my natural curls (which I'm very happy with, but get greasy after a couple days.) When I (safely) blow dry and curl my hair on Wednesday, I have fabulous hair through Sunday morning when it's time to wash again. Chris' tutorial on curling hair (along with using the right heat protectants) really helps!
@@LazygirlLA892 I second this! The cuticle is so tight on my fine strands that my hair just falls flat unless I rough it up with heat and then smooth it out with the iron ... I know it's the absolute worst way to treat my poor hairs but at least I look put-together and not a greasy mess
My hairs thining because of the menopause would you still recommend the same shampoos? My hair is super fine but dry and I'm I've just cut off all the old hairdye so I'm very salt and pepper
So true. Fine hair is a lot more susceptible to breakage because of the diameter of each hair as well. I have fine hair and no issues with the light Moroccan oil. But I use it sparingly on my ends when needed. I noticed the Olaplex 7 would sometimes leave my ends feeling like straw. So I like to switch it up. Also, there are microfiber and silk lined shower caps that are nicer to the cuticle of the hair than terry cloth. Sally Beauty used to carry satin lined shower caps for those on a budget. I always look forward to your new content! Keep up the great work!
Too much protein. That's why it went like straw. How did you fix it? I used pureplex too many times and did the same thing and don't want to just chop the ends off. Washing it a load helped but still feels bad.
@@janinedear-barlow always counter protein overload with moisture. Make sure the products don’t have protein in them whatsoever. And don’t overwash the hair. That will make both your hair and your scalp far too dry and exacerbate it. If that doesn’t fix it, you have get a trim. When talking to your stylist, be realistic about the amount that needs to be trimmed off. That hair is irreparable. Sometimes, even protein treatments can’t repair parts of the hair that are too damaged.
@@notahamsterr yes I know. I meant any specific products. I don't wash more than once a week or it makes it greasy too quickly with dry ends. Starting level 3 hair so will ask the tutor when I see her as I've never had to deal with it on my hair before and want to reverse it if I can before having to cut it off. Most of the protein is off but still not right. I might end up getting k18 to see if that helps.
@@janinedear-barlow The moisture shampoo and conditioner I prefer are Paul Mitchell’s Lavender Mint collection. It has shea butter in it, but I haven’t had any issues with it weighing hair down. Your hair may be sensitive to protein. If that’s the case, try only using products with protein once a month. Trial and error is how you’ll find how much protein your hair can handle. I don’t think the K18 mask is going to be any different, besides price. It’s very expensive. And honestly, Olaplex is superior when you take into account ingredients. I’m not sure what your hair history is. Whether you have any color in your hair, bleach, texture treatments like perm or straightener. And I haven’t touched your hair. So it’s hard to diagnose over the internet. Unless you have a keratin smoothing treatment (and I never recommend those), protein isn’t something that can just come off hair. Your hair is made of protein. And that balance between protein and moisture, as well as the ph of your hair can be thrown off pretty easily. Especially if you have fine hair. Ask your hair stylist any questions of concern. They’re there to help educate you. And if they don’t, or can’t answer your questions, find another stylist.
I'd love a video on how to avoid dry scalp. I have it pretty bad, and it just seems to get worse the longer I go without washing it. Also, I have very fine thin hair that tends to look greasy after not washing it for a day.
Sadly I used to have medium thick hair and as I’ve gotten older my hair falls out quicker. I have started my health hair journey and it’s been getting better. Thank you for you tips!
Hello Chris, what do you think about KMS leave-in-conditioner? Pureology one is not available in my country… Apart from that I am using almost everything else you are suggesting (I have naturally blonde fine hair): - Olaplex 0 and 3 every 2-3 weeks since my hair is so much better at the moment - Redken Acid bonding shampoo and conditioner or Redken Volume injection shammpo+conditioner - KMS leave-in - Hair oil I am also sleeping with silk bonnet. I must say that condition of my hair has drastically improved in the last 4 months since I first found out your channel. Thank you for all your advice!!
I have been loving these videos and replaced all my old hair products. The only thing I don't like is 'experenting' with these expensive products as I feel I'm wasting it when not done right. However....it is healthier!! Thank you for these tips n tricks
Chris. Love your videos but I would love to have suggestions for products that aren’t so fragranced. It’s impossible find a good leave in conditioner and blow dry protector that’s fragrance free. I have fine hair and love your suggested leave in conditioner but tons of fragrance and itchy. Thank you!!!!
hey man, im a guy and i started following you and i noticed all these tips are for women.. can you make a video on how to style "boy" length hair with a blow-dryer or make a video specifically for the male audience, thank you so much you transformed my hair (btw is olaplex 6 as good as big blowout for fine/medium hair?)
btw do you use heat on your hair ? I'm wondering if that's a good idea or if it's gonna give me too much of a girly look. I just need more volume but I don't know if working with heat could bring me that ...
@@TheDinofou i usually only use it to speed up the drying process but iron work or using a blowdry brush specifically, no… i feel like it wont work and would just make my hair flatter since i part it to the side (and i would probably get a very uneven dry) so i didnt even bother getting anyone of those but thats just speculations
I've been sleeping with a heatless curl rod to maintain my style/curls for days. It's so good and gentle on the hair. You should try it out with your clients!
Omg. I love you. You are the only channel that talks straight to the truth and point. I will watch all your videos and tell my friends about you. Totally amazing. Thank you.
Thank you for these tips! I also wanted to say that your other videos have been incredibly helpful; both my mom and I have completely revolutionized our hair routines, and can now understand WHY certain things happen with our hair, when it was a complete mystery before, and what to do about it.
I have fine hair that is very curly, frizzy, and tends to get dry on the ends. No problem with volume though. I wish you would do a video specifically for curly and damaged hair.
@@thecaratee4810 I’m always trying new things but I have 100% seen improvement in my hair from using k18 treatments. Which is funny because Chris W didn’t like it. I think everyone’s hair is different though. Olaplex number 3 didn’t do anything for me and the Olaplex shampoo and conditioner made me shed a LOT of hair. I keep repurchasing Living Proof restore shampoo and conditioner over the years but it’s sulfate free so I use a clarifying shampoo every 2-3 weeks also. I just bought the pureology hydrate sheer shampoo and conditioner set too and that’s pretty good for my hair type also. Im not that impressed with the Olaplex hair oil Chris recommends but I still use it now and then for the bonding benefits. But I absolutely love love love the Verb Ghost hair oil. Plus it’s cheaper than Olaplex. That one smells awesome and it’s nice and light but makes my hair so silky.
I bought the redken volume injecting shampoo and conditioner per your recommended product list for fine hair, and my hair has never been so dry, brittle and damaged 😩 I have had so my breakage since using this product (only around 2-3 months) i have completely gone backwards in my healthy hair journey. I have also developed dandruff since using this product too! I was using the shea moisture shampoo and conditioner you said not to use in this video previously and my hair was actually in much better condition using this 🤷🏻♀️ I have also been doing all of your other suggestions too during the use of both the different shampoo and conditioner products (silk night cap, leave in moisturiser, hair washing routine etc) so I know for sure that it was the change to redken that has ruined my hair. Definitely didn’t work for me.
Question about root lifters… spray on dry hair or wet hair? Also will it make me need to wash my hair sooner? I have started doing the trinity routine (& olaplex 3 on wash days) and have been amazed at how good/non greasy my hair looks day two. Literally shook. I can go 4-5 days before washing again now, adding in dry shampoo day 3 and a head band to disguise greasy roots day 4/5. My hair is so fine and prone to damage so I want to maintain this routine. Thanks Chris, you’re amazing!
Root lifter goes on wet hair. It won’t make your hair greasy bc they don’t have oils in them. They’re usually alcohol-based. If you use too much it’ll make your roots feel kind of sticky. I can tell if I’ve used too much bc it takes much longer to get the spot dry.
I’m getting hair back after chemo and it came back super curly which I’m happy for since I had fine, limp hair before. I’ve been using Acure shampoo and conditioner and it’s amazing without all the nasty chemicals. I will say that Kenra and Redkin are amazing products when I want to splurge on products.
Your videos always help me up my hair game. I’d love to see a video all about split ends! Myths, advice, possibly best products and methods for prevent them specifically. I know following your advice generally probably prevents them but knowing specifics would be great! Currently trying to grow my hair to my waist! Those are my biggest culprit
Chris' trinity routine (shampoo/conditioner, leave in, and oil) helped with my split ends, my ends are 100x healthier looking now. I heat style 1x a week using the big blowout and the thermal setting spray. I don't even need hair cuts anymore!
@@LazygirlLA892 I follow the trinity routine as-well! I also use protective products with heat tools too. I was just curious for a deeper dive on split ends specifically !
Hi Chris, I’d love to ask if we could get a hair care routine for swimmers? I know that chlorine can be damaging to the hair but sometimes a swimming cap can’t always be 100% effective or used 😅
Hey, I’m a swimmer too. My routine is: before putting the cap I completely wet my hair and add a very light mixture of hair cream (cond or leave-in the cheap kind is ok). What this does is 1) saturate your hair with water which means less room to your hair strands absorve the chlorine), 2) the cream adds a lipid barrier serving as second defense against the water (since water and oil don’t mix). I also put a fabric cap first and then the rubber one since rubber can also damage the hair
I surf, so am in saltwater most days. I spray leave in conditioner and oil my ends before I go in the water. Has made a huge difference. I also always try to rinse my hair with fresh water afterwards ❤️
I do not subscribe to many channels but recently added yours. I appreciate the honest advise without looking for a sale. One thing I would ask, when holding a product please hold it still and not across the name. I’m steady trying to read the name of this pink bottle but can’t. Thank you for helping me realize the changes I need to make to better my hair! Love your channel! ❤
The Revlon drying brush has been a game changer for me! I have very fine frizzy hair. I use smoothing products also. Most times I don’t need to use a flat iron after drying. Use the Moroccan oil heat protectant as well.
Please please please talk about how people like me who suffer from dandruff and itchy scalp can go without washing hair for 2 or more days... My dermatologist asks me to wash my scalp every other day with a medicated shampoo, so what can we do?
Hi there, are you blow drying your hair? Drying my hair as soon as possible after showering really helped with my itchy scalp. Also getting some sunlight on the scalp helped me. 10 or 20 minutes a day, nothing crazy or enough to get a sunburn.
Thank you for all you do for us Chris~. You have truly changed my hair. It has NEVER looked this good ever!! I do exactly what you say and it works. I often have to hold my tongue when it comes to my hair stylist....some of the things they put on my hair is COMPLETELY wrong.
I appreciate these videos so much. I'm BRAND new to styling and my hair is much finer than it used to be. I just got my first blow drying brush and curling iron. It's gonna be an adventure and This is good info and I don't feel like I'm being sold to. Wish me luck lol
Oh my!! I just discovered your channel 3 days ago and really BINGED all the episodes. I also bought some products for my fine hair and oh my gosh, I'm happy! I totally went to hair school and found out that I did everything wrong :P like the washing machine way of towel cleaning, washing everyday, buying cheap shampoo etc. MERCI forever. Greetings from The Netherlands
Your content gets better and better! Keep it up! Also, thank you for putting so much effort in your work! It means a lot to me, and perhaps to all of us who want to care for our hair correctly! You are amazing!
Just found your channel .. and want to say you explain things so well! you have a very genuine presentation style that simplifies techniques and the types of products available .. I have learned a great deal from your tutorials .. thank you Chris!
Thank you. I see some results already and I haven't even started using the professional products. Don't worry. I did order almost everything you talked about for thin hair. I have so much more confidence now.
Hi Chris, recently starting watching you and have been doing the trinity hair routine. Makes such a difference! I also must say that I am a licensed hairdresser in the UK but don’t work in the field right now. However you provide way more education than I ever had at my college. We weren’t taught about products or anything like that. The basics of cutting and colouring was pretty much it. So thank you!! I do however have a question: As I have fine hair (but a lot of it) I tend to not use masks. Though coming into the hotter months would like to use one occasional however the Moroccan oil masks only dry my hair out. Any other options?? Thanks and sorry for the long comment. 😳
Already using your tips for protecting my hair. :) Oiling the ends is making a BIG difference, and washing my hair properly is keeping my scalp from becoming so irritated!
Your videos and product suggestions have been super helpful. I have fine hair and like to air dry. I use heat to dry for more special occasions and otherwise have found great success with satin pillow rollers. I let my hair semi dry and then put the pillow rollers just at the crown. They are comfortable and easy to wear while my hair fully drys. It gives nice lift to the roots and some wave through the ends.
Oh wow, I have never heard of satin pillow rollers...I'd love to try them! I've been thinking of going back to the old school sponge rollers :) Where could I find the rollers you are using? thanks for leaving this comment!
Kitsch satin pillow rollers. I bought them on Amazon. I have mid length, layered hair and bought the 6 piece set. They are very similar to good old foam rollers but have a satin covering on them. The nice part is you don’t have to be perfect when you roll them up, they give nice volume on top and soft wavy curls.
I’ve done it a couple of ways- either 3 on top or 2 on the top, one on each side and 2 in the back. They are about 6 inches long so you can wrap a good clump of hair around each.
I have been using your recommendations, and they've been helping. But the one thing that has really helped me add an extra day between washing is putting my hair up at night. I put in in a VERY loose bun using a cloth ponytail band. Don't know why it keeps the oiliness down, but it has really helped.
I would love product recommendations for days 2 and 3 when I wake up and want to re-amp up my volume, even if just a little. I already do everything in the video and my hair has been sooooooo much better for it, but I still find that I want to add more volume to my hair without needing to use dry shampoo, especially on day 3.
Dry shampoo is key in maintaining volume on day 3+ of your hairstyle. Oils that your scalp produce are heavy and will weigh the hair down. And where you need that volume to start is there. The Pulp Riot Berlin dry shampoo is amazing for this. While not leaving a typical dry shampoo cast on the hair like some other brands.
This is going to sound silly, but flipping your hair over and massaging your roots for a few minutes really helps with volume. I found that out by accident, cause I was listening to people online saying scalp massage was good for the scalp. Now I just do it for volume!
I watched this and I don’t even have fine hair. You are such a terrific teacher who has an encyclopedic knowledge of your subject matter. Adding funny memes and snippets to lighten up what can be some dry, dare I say brittle subject matter. Thanks so much for providing useful, money saving, sanity maintaining hair care content with lots of laughs scattered liberally in the mix. You are truly a gem.
Hi Chris, I purchased the trinity products for fine hair. I used them as instructed by watching your videos.. My hair got volume after blow drying it and even appeared to look thick. I also purchased the blow out cream you recommended for fine hair and applied it as instructed. Once my hair was dry I applied the hair oil to my ends (Oleplex). My hair did look good but my mids and ends felt very dry. I feel that maybe the leave in conditioner from pureology was too light and made my hair feel dry. The next time I washed my hair I used all the same products except the pureology leave in conditioner. Instead I used the Oleplex #6 and my hair felt softer and looked great but by day 2 my hair still felt great, did not feel oily, but it felt much thinner. What should I do? My hair is fine but its also curly. I alway blow dry it straight and I don't use a flat iron because I don't want to fry my hair or make it look too thin.
I have long fine thin hair- I bought that Redken- didn't work for my hair, now I use Innersence products- PERFECTION! Now with a little dry shampoo- I wash my hair only on Sundays. So I agree- the less is more with fine thin hair.
Hi Chris, My hair is not fine it is BABY Fine. It is also super thin (think baby thin). What products do you recommend? If I use heat or metal brushes it breaks. My daughter is a stylist so I have always used professional quality products.
I am excited for my hair health journey with my fine hair. Bought a couple of things I have never used before because you've advised it (quality shampoo, lock in conditioner, shower and sleeping hair cap, blow brush). You literally have changed my life. So glad, I found this channel.
Thank you so much for all your tips, especially for fine hair!! Since starting your trinity system, I noticed a big difference in my fine, frizzy hair in high humidity Okinawa. I couldn't easily get your recommended volume products here so I bought some volumizing/amplifying products from Biolage and Bumble & Bumble, and unfortunately they both caused a lot of breakage in my hair, so now I'm dealing with the damage from that. I am hopeful though that eventually my hair will look good again now that I have this knowledge. Thanks again!! 🌺
@@LazygirlLA892 thank you!! I'm sorry you went through it too. I don't know why B&B is so hyped up and expensive, I've tried a few of their products and have always been unimpressed.
I added the leave-in conditioner last time I washed my hair, and it's made a HUGE difference! I received my shampoo and conditioner yesterday, so I'm looking forward to trying the whole routine.
I’ve read some women in the comments on other videos with bangs say they rinse them and restyle the bangs only with the coolest setting of the hairdryer.
I have very short thinning hair, I had heavy shedding too 😬 I'm using the Redken Volume Injection shampoo and conditioner, then the Redken One United leave in, as he suggests. In the evening I alternate Redken and L'anza products for thinning hair. It's been a month and a half that I follow this routine. No more shedding since 3 days. 🤫💪🏻👍🏻💜
I always asked myself if the Redken One United would work for my fine hair, so thanks for your comment. Did Chris talk about this product in one of his videos? 😊
I have learned so much from you! I feel like this video was custom made for me...super fine, fragile, frizzy hair, even though I take really good care of it. Thank you!!
THREE TESTS FOR YOUR CONDITIONER: 1 ) Apply a pea sized amount to the back of your hand rub in for 1 minute, if the product disappears without leaving a sticky, greasy film it is a lighter weight product. 2) Add one teaspoon to 4 Oz. warm water in an 8 Oz. Bottle shake hard, if it FOAMS it is an EMULSIFIER BASED product that will leave less residue. 3) OILS and SILICONES if your product(s) contains OILS or a lot of SILICONES it is going to get LIMP and GREASY FASTER.
Love your videos and have used your recommended products. I have fine wavy/curly hair- I don’t always want to blow dry- any tips on styling & keeping natural waves/curls?
I always chemically straightened my hair once a year, so flat straight hair is my kind of style. From december last year, i’ve started to follow your tips. However most of the products r not available in my country, especially the professional shampoo u recommend. I change my shampoo to kerastase (bcs i thought it is a profesiional shampo, is it????), start using leave-in conditioner, n olaplex products. N my god, i can really feel the difference. I usually wash my hair every other day because if i go more than that, it become so itchy! Since using kerastase, i can go one more day! N i’ve never feel itchy anymor. Another game changing product is my leave-in conditioner. I use SheaMoisture leave-in n it is so good! My hair always so smooth. I’ve never thought of the benefit n impact of leave-in cond! 😭 But what you said makes senseee! Before using leave-in, i feel like my hair is so dry n rough… Sheamoiture leave-in really change my life….n i dont feel that it’s heavy though. And yes to hair oil! Im using olaplex / kerastase . I think it adds smoothness more to my hair… Styling wise, i really dunno how to blowdry my hair.. so i only dry it roughly with my blowdryer n let the air do the job. 😅 I stay home everyday so i dont really style/ straightened my hair if i dont go out. Your advice really change my hair game. Im still figuring it out now, but im so satisfied of this small improvement. My goal is to have a long beautiful straight hair, kinda like the japanese girlies 😊😊 I’m really becoming more excited when it comes to hair wash day. ❤❤
Yes I think Kerastase is a professional brand and Chris has said he likes it but it's more expensive than other brands without better results. He seems to really like redken I love Kerastase though and mainly use them. Let me know if you want opinions on any Kerastase products, I might have tried them. I have long, straight, fine hair. I get build up on my scalp but much less now I use Kerastase
@@ellebean759 yeaaaah i really wanna try redken … unfortunately not available here. So im using kerastase genesis line. From shampoo, cond to serum. Have u ever tried kerastase hair growth serum jeunesse? From densifique line? I loss so much hair in december 😭 idk whats with december, from what i can remember, i always experience a lot of hair fall in december……. Luckily kerastsse genesis really help at minimalize my hair fall.
I AM SO THANKFUL Chris! My hair is so much better because of you! I can't get my hands on the kenra product in my country.. Can I use the redken root lifting spray as well for my fine hair? Does any wet brush the job or do I have to buy a "special one" for my fine hair? I would love to get a "blowout" look. Does the "one one step dryer and round styler work as well ? AGAIN: THANKS FOR YOUR ADVICE! I learn to understand how my hair works!
hey chris! i have fine hair and i’ve always had to wash my hair everyday. i’ve started using redken volume shampoo and double washing as you recommended but my hair still gets oily pretty much immediately. i also just got the olaplex oil and the ouai leave in conditioner. i don’t think the products i’m using are the problem as this happens even when i don’t use anything other than shampoo and conditioner in the shower. i’m not sure if i’m doing anything wrong or if it’s just how my hair is. any suggestions?
You can also try the Redken Cleansing Cream he suggested. You may need to use it every wash. I got it and it’s amazing! Ulta sells a sample size for like $9.
Thanks Chris Hope you can help with these 2 questions. 1. When washing my fine hair, understanding I shouldn't apply shampoo on the hair, just concentrate on the roots, is it ok to use some of the suds & bubbles on the mid-ends of my hair just before I rinse the shampoo or not even that? 2. What's the difference between using a Leave-In conditioner and the products that say leave-in treatment (which usually include conditioner), maybe the treatment ones are too heavy? Thanks a lot
Hi Chis! First I would like to thank you for your content, so useful!! I have some question about using products with alcohol, since you mentioned root lifters. Do you recommend products with alcohol, and if so, what is the best way to apply/use them? My hair dries out horribly with products with alcohol, but I could use a root lifter for a bit of volume. I tried the Redken Big Blowout, and Pureology leave in conditioner combination, but it left my hair just full of static. Thank you again!

Can you do a video about hair loss
I'd love to see you make a video with tips on blow dry brushes, blow dryers, flat irons, etc. for complete novices.
I've never used any of these and am hesitant to spend $100+ on any single tool when I don't know what the heck I'm doing with them.
I've tried three different emails and haven't gotten emails from this site :/
@@kristinalatinski2122 that’s a pretty complex issue. There’s a lot that can effect hair loss, including underlying health conditions. It’s always best to check with your doctor or a dermatologist first.
Kenra Professional Root Lifting Spray 13 is the recommended product for root lifting fine hair.
I'd love to see a video specific to naturally curly thin hair.

Since you use & sale MOROCCANOIL
what is your thoughts on the Moroccanoil Curl Defining Cream ?

Me too. I've got very curly hair that's thin and prone to frizz. Help please

I have fine hair. A few years ago I took a sculpture class. When we carved limestone, a lot of tiny dust was everywhere. THIS WAS THE MOST AMAZING ROOT LIFTER AND STYLING PRODUCT. The stone dust did what no hair product has ever done.
I hope you wore a respirator
cornstarch is like dry shampoo. add chocolate (cocoa) powder for dark roots

If he is, he's violating FTC guidelines. I don't see sponsored tags anywhere in his vids and I kind of doubt he'd risk that. Not really going to bat for him, I'm not an avid Chris fan or anything, just stating my opinion from the outside.
@@schnulliwutz8011
if you're trying to go more days without washing (which appears to be Chris's main goal) ... it seems you have achieved it.
What a wonderful comment ❤may I ask what brand of clarifying shampoo you use?
Agree how to control and keep hair moisturized while not weighing it down.
I’d love to see a video on fine, thin, curly hair that is low porosity.

What I usually do is: day 1 wear my hair completely down and wave it with heat,
Day 2 wear it half up half down and use dry shampoo, day 3 wear it completely up in a pony or bun again with dry shampoo and sometimes hair spray to tame the baby hairs.
I have oily skin, too, and I agree, aging with oily skin is like free all-day moisturizer!
I've got a few little lines starting to show but overall my skin is good!👍🏻
Same!!!! I used to tease my old coworkers (now good friends) that they could tell the last time I washed my hair based on this exact styling ritual 😂
I will say, between Covid (no going out much in 2020) and this channel, I can go 6-8 days now without washing 🙌🏻
Dry shampoo makes it worse on my fine oily scalp. I stopped using dry shampoo. I’m thinking of switching to powered version.
Thank goodness for you. I’m so excited for wash day to practice my Blowout Professor hair routine. My hair is looking GOOD. (Currently chilling on the couch with my Olaplex 3 in!)
I am confident with my hair for the first time in my life. I don’t think I’ve ever met anyone who liked their hair no matter the texture or African American, Caucasian, Asian, Latino literally none. If you have curly you want straight and vice versa go figure but fun to watch and I do learn something new every video.
I started using the olaplex oil in my fine hair after watching one of your videos & it had made a big, positive difference for my hair. Thank you!! ❤️
Braiding it would be best, but you can also use hair sticks, or silk scrunchies.
I'm a baker, so I have to keep my hair up and covered too. I'd like to hear if he has any extra advice as well.
I work in healthcare too. Braids, friend. Braids lol
@@LazygirlLA892 hi! may I ask- do you use the thermal spray on the dry hair after blow dry but before the iron? :)
@@kristinaj2147 yep! It feels weird to do it, the spray goes on a little sticky, but once you brush your curls out it's like magic and they last for days.
@@LazygirlLA892 thank you, will try 😁😁😁
This is great advice. One contention, though: I have fine hair and I get amazing body and volume when I let my hair air-dry. If I try to heat style it, it looks good initially, but falls flat within an hour. Air-drying can be the right choice for fine hair.
Agree
Thank you for saving my hair..first time in my life I have healthy hair..thank you
My hairs thining because of the menopause would you still recommend the same shampoos?
Thank you, this is helpful to know about the shower caps. I am going to look for!
I have baby fine hair but up to a 3a curl pattern, it’s strange that fine hair advice usually equates to straight/limp hair. Hope there’s a part 2! :)
Yep, fine here...but lots of it. Plenty of volume
Chris, I can't thank you enough for this video. I finally understand what I've been doing wrong all these years 👍
Hello Chris, what do you think about KMS leave-in-conditioner? Pureology one is not available in my country… Apart from that I am using almost everything else you are suggesting (I have naturally blonde fine hair):
- Olaplex 0 and 3 every 2-3 weeks since my hair is so much better at the moment
- Redken Acid bonding shampoo and conditioner or Redken Volume injection shammpo+conditioner
- KMS leave-in
- Hair oil
I am also sleeping with silk bonnet. I must say that condition of my hair has drastically improved in the last 4 months since I first found out your channel. Thank you for all your advice!!
I love how you get straight to the point
Great video! Please do a video on the best sulfate-free shampoos. I can’t use sulfates due to sensitive skin.
You are absolutely an incredible, teacher, coach giving all such fabulous support!!
hey man, im a guy and i started following you and i noticed all these tips are for women.. can you make a video on how to style "boy" length hair with a blow-dryer or make a video specifically for the male audience, thank you so much you transformed my hair (btw is olaplex 6 as good as big blowout for fine/medium hair?)
you're not alone on this one :) But I'd wager that women make up for 99% of his audience so we're probably screwed :/
btw do you use heat on your hair ? I'm wondering if that's a good idea or if it's gonna give me too much of a girly look. I just need more volume but I don't know if working with heat could bring me that ...
This is great! Men absolutely need more info about blow drying and hair care out there! I agree!
@@TheDinofou honestly yeah but we can only dream…
I've been sleeping with a heatless curl rod to maintain my style/curls for days. It's so good and gentle on the hair. You should try it out with your clients!
I use mulberry silk pillowcases instead of the bonnet, plus they’re beautiful on the bed.
Omg.
Do you have any product recommendations
@@colap3848 this is sooo helpful! thank you, have you ever tried the living proof frizz free oil? i bought k18 but I do not like to skip conditioner
THANK YOU for answering my thin fine hair prayers 😭🙌
Its really simple. Oil your ends. Not with complicated, expensive "oil" hairdressers push. Rather olive oil or castor..whatever you have.
redkken thermal spray?
The Revlon drying brush has been a game changer for me! I have very fine frizzy hair. I use smoothing products also. Most times I don’t need to use a flat iron after drying. Use the Moroccan oil heat protectant as well.
I was worried about it causing breakage, I read somewhere the T3 was better for fine hair. Have you noticed any breakage?
I really haven’t. I let my hair dry to about 70% and make sure I have no tangles and do it section by section.
Brilliant. Thank you. I'm now going to watch all the rest of your videos. My hair is fine and I needed this advice.
Have you tried tea tree oil? It's amazing for the problems you've described. Can add a couple of drops to your shampoo
Thank you for all you do for us Chris~. You have truly changed my hair. It has NEVER looked this good ever!! I do exactly what you say and it works. I often have to hold my tongue when it comes to my hair stylist....some of the things they put on my hair is COMPLETELY wrong.
Video please on fine curly frizzy hair to get it straight. We need heat to do blow outs.
I appreciate these videos so much. I'm BRAND new to styling and my hair is much finer than it used to be. I just got my first blow drying brush and curling iron. It's gonna be an adventure and This is good info and I don't feel like I'm being sold to. Wish me luck lol
I wondered about Amika. I tried a sample and it didn't work well for me. Thanks for sharing these tips!
Thank you for fine hair video! Ive needed this.
Which rollers do you use?
Kitsch satin pillow rollers. I bought them on Amazon. I have mid length, layered hair and bought the 6 piece set. They are very similar to good old foam rollers but have a satin covering on them. The nice part is you don’t have to be perfect when you roll them up, they give nice volume on top and soft wavy curls.
@@andreamastrangelo1065 thank you! So you just do at the crown?
I’ve done it a couple of ways- either 3 on top or 2 on the top, one on each side and 2 in the back. They are about 6 inches long so you can wrap a good clump of hair around each.
I have been using your recommendations, and they've been helping. But the one thing that has really helped me add an extra day between washing is putting my hair up at night. I put in in a VERY loose bun using a cloth ponytail band. Don't know why it keeps the oiliness down, but it has really helped.
Hey Chris. Can you do a video on how to take curly hair to straight? Love the videos!
Absolutely! That's one of my favorite things to do. It's on my list 👍
I started using the shampoo you recommended from Redken and I’m not exaggerating when I say it completely transformed my hair 😍
Ahh if you mean the volume injection that makes me so excited, I’ve been meaning to try it!
I'm so sorry you went through that, Bumble and Bumble is such crap! I had the same thing happen to me a couple years ago!

I love the way you explain things whilst using visual aids and metaphors! Wish I lived there so I could go to you, you are very talented.
Will you do a video on taking care of bangs? I imagine it's hard to avoid everyday heat styling if I were to get them 🥶
I’ve read some women in the comments on other videos with bangs say they rinse them and restyle the bangs only with the coolest setting of the hairdryer.
I spray a tiny bit of Purology on mine and reshape with blow dryer in morning.
Great info for fine hair! Thanks so much for being so thorough!

Have you looked into the studies on pumpkin seed oil and hair loss?
I have learned so much from you! I feel like this video was custom made for me...super fine, fragile, frizzy hair, even though I take really good care of it. Thank you!!
I found a silk bonnet at night made a MASSIVE difference for my hair. Has to be silk though, not satin. SO SOFT!
I think it adds smoothness more to my hair…
Styling wise, i really dunno how to blowdry my hair.. so i only dry it roughly with my blowdryer n let the air do the job.
He seems to really like redken
I love Kerastase though and mainly use them.
From shampoo, cond to serum.

hey chris! i have fine hair and i’ve always had to wash my hair everyday. i’ve started using redken volume shampoo and double washing as you recommended but my hair still gets oily pretty much immediately. i also just got the olaplex oil and the ouai leave in conditioner. i don’t think the products i’m using are the problem as this happens even when i don’t use anything other than shampoo and conditioner in the shower. i’m not sure if i’m doing anything wrong or if it’s just how my hair is. any suggestions?

You're the best hair professional ever! Thanks for sharing your knowledge and keep up with these amazing videos!
I started using Redken Volume shampoo, conditioner, and blow dry gel. The static I get in my hair is terrible!!! How do I deal with static?
Dryer sheets seem to work the best
Thanks Chris
Hope you can help with these 2 questions.
I’ve found the Olaplex no 9 to help with some static. Dryer sheets help really well with static too
THANK YOU! You are the reason I have hope for this fine dry hair!
