I’m 26 years old and have worn makeup maybe five times on special occasions 😂 my mom doesn’t wear makeup, so I was never taught. I would always tell myself that I was going to ‘reinvent’ myself between each school year and start wearing it, but it never happened. I love sleep too much, I’d rather wake up last minute and just throw my clothes on and leave. 🤷🏼‍♀️

I would love to hear you discuss something about dating non-vegans, having non-vegan friends and family, etc. There are so many differing opinions on the subject and I would love to know where you're at with that! Even further, it could be interesting to discuss the guilt behind not being able to go vegan, such as family or financial issues, dietary issues, regional/geographical constraints, etc.

We are a social animal, which means a part of where we take the information is from socialisation. So you are "socialized" by your parents whom are the first socialisation agent in your life. This is where the stereotypes about men and women are embodied : parents act and speak differently to their kids depending on their gender. So, girls are required to be pretty, we give them toys that revolve around the housework, etc. Boys do not required to be presentable : we let them play outside and go wild. Particularly true when parents call their kids: we may say "oh hi beautiful" or "my little girl" to girls and to boys we say "my big boy" or "my champion".
I don't know if you see it, but, girls' self-esteem lie on beauty, which is not a long-term happiness contract you sign up for. Because they were socially rewarded for their beauty, they will always search for that reward by focusing on maintaining their physical appearance. However, if they are not pretty one day, they feel self-conscious, their self-esteem goes dramatically down, etc. That's why we use makeup: to always have a good ratio of self-esteem. (fake self-esteem) If they were socialized in another way, they wouldn't care much about makeup and probably would act like "boys".
Personally, I just stopped wearing makeup. A week ago. And, it feels so much better.

Every woman’s body is hers to do as she pleases! To each their own. If you want to wear a full face of makeup, go for it. If you’d rather not be bothered to wear any makeup at all, that’s cool too! As long as you’re doing it for YOU. :)

I completely agree with you & appreciate the fact that you brought up expectations from society about makeup. This was a great video & I respect you so much. I am personally a professional makeup artist so I apply makeup to others & myself, which is why I created my channel. I wear it to express myself, but I don't feel I NEED it to be beautiful. You're so gorgeous without & with makeup by the way!!! I always ALWAYS think about your natural beauty when I watch your videos. 💗

I used to wear makeup because of my insecurities. Now that I’m more confident with myself, I wear it because it makes me feel more put together and I like getting ready. Totally okay with leaving house without any makeup on if feeling lazy though.

You are beautiful and natural. As a 54-year-old high school teacher, I wear make-up to look younger and more relatable to my students and because I am not a natural beauty like you, I hide my imperfections and emphasize my good aspects. Arbonne is a great brand. It is vegan and anti-aging. You should check out their products! As for topics, I want to know about your whole yoga journey, from how you got into it to how it has progressed and where it is now. I am also interested in your whole exercise regimen. I saw the video where you explained your exercise addiction and how you overcame it. I would love to know more about that, too. I am working out HARD and I don't know if that is such a good idea. Thanks for helping me on my vegan journey. Your recipe videos are especially appreciated.

Your skin is gorgeous and glowing! I used to wear so much makeup to cover my severe acne, but recently went on Accutane and now I never want to wear foundation because I finally feel comfortable in my skin. I used to wear a lot of makeup in highschool and throughout my first two years in college because I was very insecure and refused to leave the house without having a full face on. As I got older my skin has gotten better which meant I didn't have to wear as much Foundation. Now I only wear a tinted moisturizer with SPF, concealer and highlighter on my face. I used to experiment with different colors every day and go to work with purple eyeshadow and green eyeshadow but now I just put a neutral Brown in my crease and some mascara and call it a day. I only wear it just to look more fresh and alive otherwise I just looked very very tired and sick. I think what also helped me a lot with that I found a significant other who loves the way I look without makeup so I worry less about my appearance.

In college, I wore a lot of makeup. 2 years post-college, I hardly ever wear makeup. Because I work from home, I see no reason to put on makeup. When I do wear makeup, it's for special occasion and it's usually only mascara and lipstick. It took me awhile to be comfortable with my complexion post-foundation use. But I love not wearing makeup and being able to truly look at myself in the mirror and say "wow, my skin is glowing and I look so beautiful and healthy!" The vegan lifestyle really helps, too. Loving 'Chats with Caitlin'! Keep up the awesome work.

I completely agree with you in saying that its the "why" we wear make up that is most important. Throughout high school and my first year of college I refused to leave my room with out wearing make up. I felt I needed it to look pretty and feel comfortable in public. Eventually I realized I would have to leave my dorm room without make up to hangout in the hall with friends after I had taken it off for the night. Slowly it became more comfortable and now for the last 2 years I ONLY wear it if I'm going out on the weekends or if I have time to do it for fun. I always loved the process of doing makeup but now I love being bare faced AND full glam! Confidence in our bare skin is so important! You may be an influencer, but I think you showing its okay to have both options, so long as you're happy, is whats important and should be realized by everyone that its okay. It doesn't have to be a clearly chosen For or Against (:

I reached a point last year where I realized that I couldn't leave the house without wearing makeup. So I decided to go a month without wearing makeup and it was really hard! Like when you're going out to a fancy dinner without any makeup on, you kinda feel like a slob. Which relates to the societal expectations. However the 1 month really did help and now I don't give a shit about whether or not I'm wearing it and it actually feels really good to have reached this point. Now I can focus on wearing makeup when I feel like expressing myself, instead of just feeling insecure.

You don't need makeup, Caitlin. Your skin is lovely. I wore makeup from the beginning of high school through college as a mask for my chronic acne. But once I went vegan a year ago, that all went away and my skin is glowy all on its own! I don't want to cover that up anymore. ^-^

This is actually something that I've been thinking about a lot lately because I used to view makeup as a chore and just an extra thing to do in the morning, so I usually just wouldn't wear it. However, over the past few months I started watching RUclips videos of gurus doing their makeup just because I like watching other people do their makeup. Then I started getting inspired and I was like "wow I want to try that" and it's turned into a way for me to just relax and have "me time" in the morning. Like one of my favorite things is picking out what makeup I'm going to wear and matching it to my outfit. I have no problem going bare faced, but I just love the process of doing it now that I found out how relaxing it is for me. I usually don't do a full face, but sometimes it's fun to just pick out a lipstick color or try to do a new eyeshadow look. Basically, I agree with you and I've also been thinking about makeup a lot lately.
You should watch some French makeup gurus like Violette_fr because she does really really minimal makeup and focuses more on skincare. Her makeup is super simplistic and artistic at the same time and it's definitely all about enhancing what you love instead of hiding what you don't like.

Aside from the makeup I wore to my dance recitals, I didn't start wearing makeup until college but only for my job or special occasions. My mom had told me makeup would help me look presentable at my job. When I started dating my mate I wore makeup because you want to look nice for your man I was told. After moving out I really only wore makeup for our dates and for work. As of the last year, I now wear makeup more often, but mainly because I feel confident wearing some makeup that highlights my eyes and an outfit I really like because I'm more comfortable in my body. The one thing that hasn't changed is that the only makeup I wear is an eyebrow pencil, eyeliner, mascara, a little eyeshadow, and concelor for under my eyes.

Last December I stopped wearing makeup after my mom died. By the way, my mom never wore makeup or nail polish. Today was the last day of Sephora's 20% off sale so I stocked up on new makeup. I'm not sure how often I will wear it in the future because like you, I enjoy the extra time to sleep in.
Some days I feel like I look pretty worn out and I think about putting on makeup. Next thing I know I'm telling myself you are naturally beautiful and good enough, before heading out the door. 🤷🏾‍♀️
Not wearing makeup is very liberating.
    Thanks for the chat.

I started wearing makeup in highs school, although I wasn’t very good at it. I improved my “skills” later on. I never wore makeup to feel better about myself or to impress others I just thought it was fun and pretty! After a while though I got to the point where I wouldn’t leave my house without it. Thankfully now I feel comfortable in my own skin and don’t mind being bare faced but also have fun playing with makeup when I have the time or energy to do it. I think society puts to much pressure on girls when I’m comes to makeup. If someone doesn’t wear any people judge them for being basic but if they wear a lot then people judge you for wearing too much makeup. I think we should be able to wear as much or as little makeup without the pressure of what people might think. Do what makes you happy.

I enhance my eyebrows but I don’t put anything else on because wearing other types of products actually make me feel more self conscious than when I don’t. Like whether something is blended in well or if the mascara has smudged, it’s just easier to not worry at all. Love your vids Caitlin!

I use to only wear mascara and eyeliner. Then I began to hate it. Much like you, I realized I was wearing it for all the wrong reasons. As far back as I can remember, people have teased me about my eye shape and size. So makeup was a way for me to change the way my eyes looked.
Now that I'm older, I wear A LOT of makeup but because I want to. I also suck at art haha but I can do some neat things with an eyeshadow brush. I learned to accept the things I can't change and to appreciate makeup as art. I am proud to say all my makeup is cruelty free. Like you said, just do your own thing. What matters is confidence and self expression ❤

Hi Caitlin! I just want to add some input. I also watched a lot of makeup people on youtube when I was in High School and my first two years of College. I had my mini makeup collection and would spend all my money at ULTA and Sephora. During College and High School I wore a full face of makeup almost every day. After I graduated and started working full time, I still wore makeup but not a heavy eyeliner anymore. Then I moved abroad to Italy, where I am writing from now. There is just something about packing all of your belongings into two suitcases that makes you realize how many things you own that you don't really need. Now I just have the basic products and I will put on BB cream, concealer, fill in my eyebrows, blush, mascara and just a little bit of a matte brown eyeshadow on a daily basis because it makes me feel more confident and pretty which just makes me feel better about myself. People who know me know what I look like without makeup, but when I go out, I do feel like I want to be wearing it, and I think that's okay. I save so much money now, not buying cosmetics products all the time. I honestly have started liking minimalist makeup a lot more, because I do think that I just want to highlight my features, and not cover them up. I agree that makeup can be a beautiful art form, but for me, and where I'm at in life, a little will do :)

I am totally like you in the sense where I feel like when I put on a lot of make up and then tell people they're like "really, you have make-up on?" I usually just wear mascara and some powder & blush/bronzer. If I don't, it's just because I don't have time or I don't feel like it. Makeup is tricky!! I've never been good at doing it!

Personally, I’ve never worn skin makeup on a regular basis. Usually, eye makeup is something I wear almost everyday, but otherwise, I’m incredible lax with it! It’s a matter of whether you love yourself in other outlets aside from physicality that’s important.

I agree. Make-up should be for fun not because other people expect for you to look a certain way. I don't wear make-up at all. I am 20 and had on twice for a ball and for prom, because I think it's fun to treat yourself for special occasions. On a daily basis I don't even wear mascara. I think it is important to do what feels right for you. If you like make-up and enjoy playing around with it, go for it if not, don't. Live and let live :)

Take a shot of Kombucha every time Cait says “makeup”! Also, wear makeup very rarely. I love watching makeup tutorials and a lot of times I play with it on my room (yes, I’m 21 and playing with makeup, whatever lol) and then I take it off when I finish 😂 but overall comfortable with how I look/I’m really lazy so I don’t feel like I NEED makeup. As usual, love the video!

I never know if you are wearing make up or not, but I personally believe that the best make up is the one no one realizes you are wearing. It's like doing your hair. The best way is when it looks natural and effortless. You look pretty anyway without make up because your skin is always glowing, you have pink cheeks and a beautiful smile. That's worth hours of make up work.

I love doing new makeup looks! I went through a phase a while back where I didn't wear makeup for a while...I also don't wear it much during the Summer. But lately, I've been really getting into the fall season with different looks. I wear it because it makes me feel more put together when im going to work or school and i definitely like to enhance my eyes. I do not wear it to impress anyone more than myself and i dont ever think anyone should.

My mum has worn make up everyday for as long as I can remember, so I picked up on that around the middle of high school (late year 8/year 9) and that kept going until the end of first year of uni. In February this year, I moved and ended up getting rid of my make up, so except for lip balm, I don't own or wear any. Before actually putting it in the bin, I spent a lot of time thinking about what you discussed. In my head, I was comparing it to shaving and how women started because men went off to war; I realised that, while both of these things are, in terms of society, forced on to women, I still chose to shave because leg hair rubbing against my skin or getting caught in clothes is really uncomfortable/painful, but, personally, I wasn't getting any benefit or enjoyment from makeup, and it was damaging my skin, even though I used natural products.
I'm very much "you do you" with people who do wear makeup, but I think I'm against the product and idea of it. When makeup was first invented, anyone of any gender could wear it, and it was very much about the beauty of it, which is what you find with those who treat it as an art form today (notice how, for those who see it that way, all genders wear it). But outside of that, makeup is very much driven by men and commercialism. If I can find it, I'll link it, but I remember seeing a tumblr post from someone who used to work at Sephora and was trained to practically target women and trick them into believing that they needed a heap of products for an "everyday look". That person then said that when embracing natural beauty and skin care became a thing, they did the same but with the same amount of products that were marketed as "light/natural" and all that stuff. Then, in terms of men, it's the typical "oh you'd look better with less makeup"/"you look dead" dichotomy and people not getting hired or not being respected because they don't wear it.
Sorry that was really long, but basically I feel a lot better now that I'm not involved in it because of my own beliefs and such.

I have conflicting views on makeup as well. Life is SO much easier not wearing makeup, but at the same time depending where I am, what I'm doing or how my skin is I will feel self conscious without it. I work with people and wear makeup to work everyday, but I feel if one day I don't wear any makeup it will be such a drastic change and everyone will be staring at me (in reality I also don't wear much makeup).
It also depends on my environment. If I'm with other women who aren't wearing any or minimal makeup then I'm comfortable without it, but if they are all done up and I'm not I feel so uncomfortable. I definitely feel judged by other women because men don't really notice makeup (except when your wearing too much).
Thanks for discussing this topic, it was interesting to hear what you have to say!

I love makeup because it's fun and I feel beautiful with it on and with it off. I used to work at a restaurant as well and was told I had to wear makeup to look "presentable." It's offensive because it made me feel like my natural skin isn't presentable to people. Which I think is so wrong. Woman in business and pretty much any workplace are forced to wear makeup and yet men are never told that. Despite what people think, I have always thought that they way I naturally look is good enough and beautiful. Besides people should be intrigued by who i am in the inside rather than my appearance.

I don't wear makeup, just because I've never cared. I personally want to look beautiful naturally. But I love watching others do makeup, like I watch a LOT of beauty videos because I appreciate it as an art form. But for me, personally, I don't enjoy doing it and I don't want to accentuate anything or look like something I'm not 😊 a lot of girls I know in college wear pretty heavy makeup, but they do it because they enjoy putting it on and taking the time to try new looks and try new things with it. They actually do the makeup for themselves to make themselves happy, and so I think it's a good thing for them. Cause like you said, I do NOT agree with wearing makeup to impress others or meet a standard. I think you should do it if you love it and only if you love it!

It's your face, do what you want, not what you think other people want you to do. If it includes makeup, great. If not, great. But basing these kinds of decisions off of what you think you should do instead of what you want isn't healthy (in my opinion). Your body is yours, never give into pressure to do something different because it's more common or widely accepted. You do you and the people/followers that matter will continue to respect and admire you.

this is such an important topic, because there IS major pressure on girls to look "presentable"... I do makeup for fun/as a hobby, but I would like to stop wearing it on a daily basis. Every time I try, though, I feel like I need to wear it because I either think my acne is ugly, my eyelashes aren't long and curled enough, or I am embarrassed of my natural eyebrows...It really is a struggle! I will keep trying though because I don't like the idea of putting shit on my face every day. lol. thanks for sharing!

My view is that makeup is used to cover acne, or for TV/movie personalities. I rarely get acne now. My face looks good without makeup. You look good too. For my wedding, I didn't wear makeup, didn't even think about it (but I had my hair done). And a friend gave me makeup bags as a wedding gift, and I didn't even know what they were. This was back in 2000 before beauty gurus on RUclips. I'm a LOT older than you, I'm 37, turning 38. But I look 25 because I'm petite, 5'1

I'm stuck in a weird place with makeup. I enjoy it, I love watching videos, and I love getting more information that will help me feel more confident in my skill. I also spend more money than other people probably do, and I spend more time applying my makeup than anyone else I know. The amount of money I spend is not more than I can afford or am willing to pay, and the time I spend in the morning before work is special to me; I prefer to have slow mornings that allow me to do what I want at my own pace, so I get up quite early and watch a movie while I slowly apply a bad ass look.
My issue, though, is that I feel I don't get enough time with my natural face. I spend my weekends without makeup, happily lounging with my partner, but I could never go to work without my face done. I don't know what that actually says about my self-esteem and relationship with makeup, but there is a point every morning where I wonder if I'm a fraud. I wonder if I'm lying to myself about how much I enjoy makeup in order to justify my need to spend exorbitant amounts of time applying it.

I am a Medical Esthetician & makeup such as foundations & blush clog your pores, but that practice keeps us busy. I personally do not wear foundation or face powder, but I wear an organic blush & organic lipstick. I have strawberry blonde hair & my brows & lashes are very pale blonde, so I tint them; but I use to be obsessed with having to apply mascara & eyebrow powder everyday, until I researched more into health topics & became an Esthetician. My mom never wore much makeup & her skin is gorgeous, all she ever needed was a lipstick & blush, but she has dark brown lashes & brows. My husband says I look good without "decorating myself", so that's a positive. Can you talk about weight gain as a vegan due to eating the extra starches. TFS

I never wear make up. When I have in the past, it felt kind of nice to look (marginally) better, but now I'm so busy and it's just an annoyance, so I stopped. I agree with another poster who said that adult women probably wear makeup more to complete with each other than to appeal to men. I was a bridesmaid in a friend's wedding and she wanted us to wear light make up the day of -- going for a"natural look." I finished in maybe ten minutes and I was so confused when it took the other girls sooooo long to finish... And it didn't look "natural" at all! And of course the groomsmen just had to put on a suit -- they didn't have to spend hours of time (and shell out extra money) doing hair and makeup. That experience really opened my eyes to how much of a disadvantage women give each other with these superficial things.

I rather get more sleep than get up early to do makeup lol I am confident both with and without it. Everyone has to do what they are comfortable with.

I love mornings; what always gives me motivation to get out of bed is to get my bulky cup of black coffee, take it into the bathroom/ to my mirror and sip it in between doing the steps of my makeup. This is literally the first thing I do. I am passionate about makeup, I do really obsess over it, however lately I've been getting really bad acne on my forehead (I'm vegan, eat clean and work out a lot :( .. still ) and it kind of makes me feel like the purpose of it is just concealing them. I do feel quiet embarassed without wearing foundation. :( Wish they would go away so I could just have fun with my makeup again.

I agree on so many of your points. I get frustrated that it is required of me but not my husband. I think we do it to ourselves though. I think it's because women are constantly coming up with new ways to accentuate their features so those people who don't do those things start to fall "behind."
I can tell when you have makeup on, but you don't appear to have it caked on.
I will say, the fact that you don't wear much has been inspiring me to do the same, so if you feel like you have to wear it to look professional, I totally understand that, but also want you to know that you inspire people to be confident in their skin, not under a mask. Obviously, it's your life and your body, so do whatever makes you happiest!
I love your channel and how down to earth you are. 💜

I've been wearing makeup since early high school, and similar to you, most of that time I used it as a "mask". I had a lot of self-esteem issues and I didn't feel secure enough unless I at least had some eyeliner on. I wouldn't say I wore a ton of makeup, I rarely used full face concealer or any of that, but I did use a lot of eye makeup. A couple of years ago was when I was wearing the most makeup: undereye concealer, eyeliner, sometimes mascara, and eyeshadow. But as I worked on my self-esteem, the less makeup I would wear. It got to the point where I would just wear mascara (mostly because I read somewhere that if you're going to wear one thing, it should be mascara). Then this hot as balls summer came around, and I didn't feel like putting anything on my face beside sunscreen. And I realized that I liked how I look without makeup and didn't feel like I NEEDED to wear it.
Now I only wear dark lipstick, and that is tied in with my love of color. I'm currently sporting blue and purple hair. The dark lipstick and bright hair combo make me feel like a Bad Ass Bitch, but I don't feel imcomplete if I'm not wearing any. I'll wear mascara occasionally but I've found myself going without it due to forgetting or just being lazy.
I also totally understand your appreciation for watching other people apply makeup. I remember being with my mom while she got ready in the morning and I was mesmerized by her makeup routine. To this day I'll watch youtube videos with zero intentions of attempting it.

My mom and my sister can´t even leave the house without putting makeup on because they think they don´t look presentable otherwise. On the other hand, I don´t really wear make up whatsoever and if I do I would probably only put on a little eye shadow, some mascara and that´s pretty much it. Also, I feel like it´s more important to show your face just the way it is, embrace it and let everybody else appreciate it for what it is as well. If men don´t "have" to do it, we neither! Actually, recently I was talking about this with my boyfriend and I also realized that, as you said, make up is often seen as a form of covering up your "imperfections" and I got so mad about the fact that in Spanish (I´m Colombian) when you put make up on or do something to your hair that is called "arreglarse" (translated: fixing yourself) as if something was wrong with you, because you can´t "fix" anything if it isn´t broken or damaged or wrong. That made me so so so angry (even though I can´t do anything about it) as well as thinking that men don´t have to "arreglarse", that can make you think that there might be something wrong with being a woman, with the face of a woman, when in reality that´s not true at all. Any ways, hope you read this, I really wanted to share my thoughts on this topic with you :) keep working hard girl, I really admire you :)

You are a natural beauty and definitely do not need makeup but respect that you want to wear it whenever you please 😊 I personally wore makeup in my teenage years and then I completely stopped wearing makeup in the early 2000s 😁 I felt as though I was shielding or masking myself from everybody else and do not like wearing anything on my face. I also found it very odd that it was a social norm and almost expected for women to wear makeup when men have no expectation to wear makeup. So, I quit wearing it daily besides working for a certain company in the early 2000s. It is very freeing 💕

I never worn more make up than just mascara and a B.B. cream, and the only reason I’ve ever worn that is for a first impression, so like for job interviews, for my first week at work, and for first dates. So a good 99.9% of my life I’ve not bothered, and now I’m settled at work with a long term partner I don’t know I ever will again. Though I’m definitely the odd one out with everyone I know, and that’s fine 😊

Great topic, great vid! I totally relate to this... I wear pretty much no makeup on a daily basis, but I’ve found that when filming, accentuating the features just looks better on camera. Plain and simple. I know a lot of people are saying “you don’t need makeup!” and nobody does... but in this case it’s like dressing up before going on stage, ya know? You’re just putting the best version of yourself out there knowing that eyeballs will be on you.

The only thing I wear is mascara. I really don't like make up, I love to let my skin breathe and being able to touch my face or laugh so hard I start crying without ruining my appearance. You aren't a better person if you cover up the dark rings under your eyes or paint your eyelids in the craziest colour or have super red lips. I will admit I struggled in the beginning when I stopped wearing make up a bunch of years ago, because I'm pale and always have eye rings and work as a therapist so people get close to me - but I just feel so much better without it! It's not about what you look like, but what you do. I think you look fantastic without make up, Caitlin, please don't feel the need to put it on to feel more presentable. If you enioy it, go for it, but don't force it on yourself. Sorry for the rambling, but that topic is so close to my heart...

Please, thumbs up so Caitlin will read it? I would really appreciate it!
As soon as I started watching, I knew you were wearing makeup. lol I love watching your videos and therefore, the difference was noticeable to me. That being said, I probably would not have noticed it, if I hadn't previously watched your bare-faced videos, because it wouldn't have caught my attention. It has a very natural look, not heavy at all. In comparison to your natural face, this look makes you appear less tired and more dewy. (Your skin appears smoother, brighter, and shinier, without looking greasy.)
I absolutely adore makeup as an art and as a way to enhance my features. I've worn makeup to appear more "attractive" to guys. However, I've never thought about it that way until listening to you. I've also never felt a social pressure to wear it to school or work or anywhere. I mostly wear it to boost my confidence. It makes me feel pretty. But I can also feel pretty and confident without it, which is important to me. If I ever felt like I need makeup to feel pretty, I'd stop wearing it, too. It should be a fun escape, not a crutch. Totally support your decisions on makeup and your reasons!
(Since you said you like defined brows...)
A tip for very defined brows: After filling them in, apply some concealer around the eyebrows, outlining them. Make sure to blend out the edges well. I don't do this on a regular basis, only for that extra little something on a special event. Well, whenever I really want that "wow" factor, it truly makes an incredible difference. I do this with my fingers, but I'm sure any small brush would work fine.
I've also acheived the same look with foundation.
People also do this to their lips. I've tried that, but I don't feel it does anything special for me.
Make up is all about trial and error. What works for one person won't work for everyone. Practice is the only way to improve. As you try new things and learn new things, your method of application will constantly evolve. (I suppose that applies to everything in life, not just cosmetics.) Sometimes, that evolution means choosing not to wear any for a while. You look beautiful no matter what, inside and out.
Beauty comes from within. What is within you is so kind, humble, intelligent, and caring, I'm in awe of you. These things make you beautiful and that beauty shines through you, making you glow.
Stay beautiful, Caitlin. Much love! ❤❤❤

I think most people would agree that you personally do not need makeup to appear professional. You are naturally beautiful and have a glow or radiance from your skin that does not require makeup to improve it. If you had acne or redness of the skin I'm sure people would probably feel differently and tell you to wear it because it's deemed more acceptable to cover that up. Personally I do not care either way, but I think that you are lucky enough to get by with little to no makeup and still come across as put together. Overall, I don't think anyone views you as less professional due to your lack of makeup...I hope you will talk about your study abroad trip next chat video, I plan on studying abroad my spring semester of 2019! :)

Actually, I did my makeup while watching this video, and I do it mostly because I want to cover my imperfections, so I agree with you on what you said... it's not the best thing to do. Still, I feel better if I do it, because I do not have perfect skin at all and it bugs me a lot. If I did, I would not do my makeup almost every day (that I go to school or to the city to do some shopping etc.) that's for sure. When I'm with my family or my boyfriend I do not feel "pressured" to do my makeup at all, only when I know people who don't know me that well will see me. Isn't that such a weird thing people do? That we want to impress the ones who don't even know us and we do not even truly care about their opinions, yet we put effort into looking "presentable"... Wow. Also, I'm trying to do my best to improve how my skin looks naturally, but as of now, it does not look good at all, in my opinion. You, however, look beautiful without makeup as well, and I cannot even tell that you are wearing any in this video to be honest. :)

it's interesting that for a lot of people they perceive that there is this kind if social pressure for women to wear makeup and that it seems more professional. I have always perceived it the other way around. I really like makeup because for me it is a way of dealing with myself, my body and using it as a self care thing. My friend growing up however never wore makeup and they hatet that I was so interested in it, even though I didn't wear it often. My parents also discouraged me from wearing it (My dad really hates it on anyone). So I really like makeup if you are doing it for yourself but I was always made to feel bad about it. Now I am at uni and I just wear it whenever I feel like it. But even then, it is only a little bit of concealer, eyebrow pencil and a soft brown liner, so not even mascara.

I have a lot of makeup that I like to wear for fun on weekends or special occasions (I don't have precious sleep time to waste during work days, haha!). It's a lot of fun to wear bold looks that no one at my job would ever see me in. On the daily, I just draw on my eyebrows because I'm missing a lot of hairs and like to have a full pair of brows.
I used to wear foundation if I did a makeup look, but have completely stopped because I realized I hate how my skin looks with it on. Almost any foundation I've ever tried just makes my skin look crappy, so I'd rather just do a fun eye look and lipstick and skip face makeup (aside from maybe some blush, light highlighter). Foundation is uncomfortable, too. I can feel it on my skin whenever I wear it.

i think that you should wear makeup because you want, not because you want to look professional or impress someone, society doesn't define you and you should do whatever your confident and want to do. No one is putting the finger on you, saying that you dont look professional if you dont wear makeup. Makeup is a form of art and expression about yourself if you want to do it, go for it, if you don't want to then don't do it.

I totally understand you! I remember when I was younger I would always wear BB cream to “hide” my acne and eyeliner. I was so concerned about it, every time I would not wear BB cream I felt like everybody was judging me and looking at my skin and I started to feel really insecure about myself.
It was always taking so much time to do my makeup and sometimes it made me angry because my eyeliner was not “perfect”.
But one day, I looked at myself in the mirror with my makeup on and I asked myself “Why should I do this when I don’t even want to?” and the feeling of having something on my skin drove me crazy so I rushed in the bathroom and took all of my makeup off and I looked in the mirror a second time and I felt way better without my makeup.
But despite of that experience I really think that makeup is such an art and I am really impressed by all of these people who can do such amazing makeup! I like makeup myself but not too much.😊
I would really like to hear about your experience abroad! 👍🏻

I love this! I am 22 and this past summer I have finally been able to accept my face without makeup. In middle school I had terrible cystic acne and I got bullied for it so I used makeup as a mask. I have not had acne like that for about 8 years now and I am learning to love my face and my skin and I have learned to focus on skin care instead of worrying about covering up my face. I do however fill in my brows everyday because a lady over waxed one of them once and it never grew back the same lol! It saves me so much time and stress not wearing it every day and my skin is so healthy.

Hi Caitlin! I'm a new subscriber and I've been watching you after deciding to go vegan 3 weeks ago. I love your videos, particularly the format of these breakfast/not breakfast videos. Just to add my 2 cents, I wear makeup to work everyday because I'm the only person in my company under 30 (most are over 40), and I think it makes me look older. I work in insurance and a lot of value is placed on experience, with older people having more experience. I feel that hiding my acne (which a lot of people associate with being younger) has helped me professionally. I'm curious about what people think about using makeup to further your career when it's done not for the sake of beautification, but to better fit into a work environment (maybe like looking older, or to cover tattoos, etc).

If I'm tired, I don't care if people see it, it's just who I am ;) I don't care if other people wear it or not, but I get a little sad if I know someone wears it because she's too insecure to be with people without. Personally I like makeup but it’s not a passion for me. I don’t wear it everyday because like you said I’d rather sleep in for 20min in the morning than put makeup. I think it helps that I work in a technical field in the labs where people don’t care if you have any makeup on. As an Arab my mom is always saying you’re eyes are “empty” put some eyeliner, but I guess that’s more of a cultural thing ^^

I wear a tiny bit of concealer and mascara, to feel a little more confident if my skin brakes out. Otherwise, no. :) Not long ago, I considered wearing makeup as something ,,fake" and inherently bad. However, I'm now in a state where a I think makeup is ok in moderation. :)

i couldn't tell that you wore make up ^^ i also totally agree with you! many woman feel pressured to wear make up because society dictates it, but i hate the double standart most men and society have because "you don't wear make up? you are ugly!" "you wear make up? you are fake?".. so do what makes you feel beautiful, and how you are comfortable; you do you, and thats good enough

Whether you're wearing makeup here or not, that's the look I'm always going for. You look amazing, big eyes, amazing healthy glowing skin and such white teeth! :D What I love most is beautiful even skin, so if I din't have to do anything I'd just put on some moisturizer and that's it, but sometimes I can simply only achieve that with foundation or concealer. I personally don't use make up to change my face (ughh...contouring, would never do that), but it's there to use if you need it. :) That's my opinion.

I wear it to cover breakouts, I'm much less fussed about it when my skin is OK. The only way I put in more effort for a special occasion is filling in my brows a bit.
