Always loved the video for this song because of how much it visually represents Em's mentality as well as his career. The visual representation of "The deeper into his mind" you go, the more you realize that Em has "the monster" locked deep inside of himself that is constantly making lines (bars) that he uses to bring to the surface (public) and hit new career highs.

Elton John was a major influence in helping Eminem get sober. Eminem was accused of being homophobic with some of his lyrics and he performed the song STAN with Elton John singing Dido’s part as a way to show that they are friends and that he is not homophobic and that the media was making up lies about him and trying to hurt his image.

Eminem received a lot of backlash from the gay community for homophobic slurs on the Marshall Mathers album. Elton John, however, felt that Em was just saying the way things are - not how he himself 'felt' about gay people. Elton never thought Em was homophobic. He collabed with Em & even sang at an awards show with him (that's the clip you saw on this video).
If anyone knows the struggle of alcoholism and drugs, it's Elton. That shit nearly killed him (and me). Elton has now been clean for like 30+ years. Em called him up and truly leaned on Elton when he was hitting rock bottom. Elton was there for him & gave him some hard truths and support.
🔥🔥🔥MY FAVORITE: When Elton married his long time partner, Em sent a wedding present. Elton said “In a case, on velvet cushions, were two diamond cock rings. 🤣 The rings have gone unused, but they're on elegant display in my home." Only Em, only Em 🤣
ELTON & EM considered am unlikely pair yet the respect runs deep.

    *Video Breakdown* (it's DEEP)
The small TV shows what each music video stands for (violence, abuse, ego, etc etc) so what we see after that is his mind taking a journey to those places on the Therapist's couch..... It shows major career milestones moments such as his first single/video "My Name is"...
The 8 mile "Lose Yourself" video/era....
    "The way I am" video....
And His "Stan" performance at the 01' Grammy awards w/ Elton John doing the hook and piano, which at the time was to calm down people due to his homophobic lyrics, etc)
    Then Finally:
As he reaches the deepest area of his subconsciousness (bottom floor)....
We see that his wild side "Slim Shady" is NOW caged up and guarded,
BUT, it shows that even tho it's the cursed side of him that he had to move past...
Slim Shady is throwing him lyrics and is still the source of his creativity....
Em just had to find a way to keep the Art but rid himself of his reckless ways.

Something you probably don't know: the hook- "I'm friends with the Monster under my bed/get along with the voices inside of my head/you're trying to save me, stop holding your breath/and you think I'm crazy/ well that's nothin' (new)" was actually written by Bebe Rexha. It was her song, but because she wasn't signed and was struggling, she had to sell the song. Eminem bought it, and wrote his own lyrics around the hook; he kept Bebe's hook, but gave it to Rihanna, and had her lip sync that 'yodel' sound you hear after 'Nothing' (actually the word 'new' taken up several octaves); it's actually Bebe's voice.
I think you can also hear her on the actual hook lyrics if you really listen. Years later, he actually performed with Bebe at Coachella; and it's perfection. Don't get me wrong, I enjoy Rihanna's version, but it's Bebe's song, and when you hear her sing it, it definitely shows. She's a phenomenal artist, and deserves so much recognition for her work.

Not sure if anyone mentioned it, but Robin Quivers from Howard Stern show said she watches your reaction videos! She mentioned it probably a month ago. I'm not sure what would be the best Howard Stern stuff reaction videos to do, maybe search stuff like best of wack pack or something, but Howard Stern gets tens of millions of listeners a day I'm sure so could be awesome exposure for you guys if Robin talks about it again 👍
Keep it up, fucking awesome Eminem Rihanna song here. Never really followed the lyrics since it's so damn fast but it was cool seeing your guys break down the bars.

I would LOVE to see you all react to Bone Thugs song “Ghetto Cowboy”
and “Thuggish Ruggish Bone.” Also, some old school Twista, especially songs from the Kamikaze album. I could go on and on. Lol. The 90’s and early 2000’s were such awesome times for music of all genres really! Love seeing the younger generation listening and can see why we disappointed in much of the music put out these days. Doesn’t hold a candle….

This is also borrowing the elevator/memory element from Inception; in that movie they go through Cobb's memories in a scene that's really similar. It's great
