@@prakharsharma9956 what’s so funny, Ems a genius with story telling and double entendres. He paints vivid pictures with his vocabulary, just cause it’s over your head don’t hate
Always loved the video for this song because of how much it visually represents Em's mentality as well as his career. The visual representation of "The deeper into his mind" you go, the more you realize that Em has "the monster" locked deep inside of himself that is constantly making lines (bars) that he uses to bring to the surface (public) and hit new career highs.
Elton John was a major influence in helping Eminem get sober. Eminem was accused of being homophobic with some of his lyrics and he performed the song STAN with Elton John singing Dido’s part as a way to show that they are friends and that he is not homophobic and that the media was making up lies about him and trying to hurt his image.
Eminem received a lot of backlash from the gay community for homophobic slurs on the Marshall Mathers album. Elton John, however, felt that Em was just saying the way things are - not how he himself 'felt' about gay people. Elton never thought Em was homophobic. He collabed with Em & even sang at an awards show with him (that's the clip you saw on this video). If anyone knows the struggle of alcoholism and drugs, it's Elton. That shit nearly killed him (and me). Elton has now been clean for like 30+ years. Em called him up and truly leaned on Elton when he was hitting rock bottom. Elton was there for him & gave him some hard truths and support. 🔥🔥🔥MY FAVORITE: When Elton married his long time partner, Em sent a wedding present. Elton said “In a case, on velvet cushions, were two diamond cock rings. 🤣 The rings have gone unused, but they're on elegant display in my home." Only Em, only Em 🤣 ELTON & EM considered am unlikely pair yet the respect runs deep.
The music video for this song is really clever. Trapped in an elevator, going through different parts of his career. Then we get to the end and Em's monster is Slim Shady in a guarded cage, throwing Eminem lyrics on tiny pieces of paper. Extremely clever music video.
Real talk though. This is one of my favorite Eminem songs of all time. It’s just a perfect song structure wise, message wise, sonically, Em is clean, Rihanna glowing the video is awesome. I have it on a Halloween playlist so I revisit this one every damn year man lol - thanks for finally reacting to this one!
I play Believe but always gotta have Revival interlude right before I put on believe. Revival interlude is so good the woman who sang it passed away unfortunately it’s just a great melody “This is our revival” 🔥
This song hit home for me when it came out. I was in high school and felt like crap, but having this song spinning on repeat just got me back up SO many times. I remember being somewhat disappointed with what Em had been doing since he came back, and then he decides to release one of the best songs of his entire career! Great achievement for Em and Rihanna

Pretty sure when he says "I know somebody once told me to seize the moment and don't squander it" he's in fact talking about himself. As those are lines pretty close to one's in Lose Yourself.
Few years back we went to a Dave and Busters rolled up and the people at the door said the place has been private party for the night. It was Eminem he rented the whole place out for the night for his daughter.

Something you probably don't know: the hook- "I'm friends with the Monster under my bed/get along with the voices inside of my head/you're trying to save me, stop holding your breath/and you think I'm crazy/ well that's nothin' (new)" was actually written by Bebe Rexha. It was her song, but because she wasn't signed and was struggling, she had to sell the song. Eminem bought it, and wrote his own lyrics around the hook; he kept Bebe's hook, but gave it to Rihanna, and had her lip sync that 'yodel' sound you hear after 'Nothing' (actually the word 'new' taken up several octaves); it's actually Bebe's voice. I think you can also hear her on the actual hook lyrics if you really listen. Years later, he actually performed with Bebe at Coachella; and it's perfection. Don't get me wrong, I enjoy Rihanna's version, but it's Bebe's song, and when you hear her sing it, it definitely shows. She's a phenomenal artist, and deserves so much recognition for her work.
It's worth noting in early 2000 there was an issue with his music ( my parents generation sucked). They called him a homophobic etc because he rapped about it. That is him at the Grammys after performing Stan live together. That hug cut through all the lies and bullshit. They are still good friends to this day. Elton John is a fucking legend
We could interpret this as: The chorus (Rihannas part) is representing what little remains of Marshall, the part of him that is struggling to survive and be free of the monster, and the monster is the end result of all the personas he created over the years and in the video the development of these personas are seen thru clips of his past music videos... But... its really about the movie Inception.. lol
