Same here! Not the part of the game I most would've expected to make me emotional but this is genuinely one of the most stellar sequences in any game I've ever played. Few moments in games have touched me like this one.
Man. Now that looks easy. I died there so many times. Escape moments in Ori was hard but when you finally pass them you get great felling. Even the music was Such great. This game is great. #1 platform game for me
This is the essence of gaming. Hard task that you have to master, and once you complete it, you get so much emotions that you finally suceeded. Together with beautiful visuals and music it is a spectacular experience!
Beg to differ. I don't go into gaming looking for a "sense of accomplishment." I've got real life for that. The beauty here is not in the escape (the "success"), but in the escaping. It's an audiovisual feast so well made that 'failing' seldom felt frustrating. Finishing these sequences elicited equal parts relief and disappointment that it was over. What I gained was an 'experience'-- a rich, unforgettable memory.
I tear up everytime I go through or watch ppl reacting to this, I love this sequence, graphics and the music so much, there's so many feelings at once, you're happy you restored the tree but the game says to run for your life and you're like wait? WHAATTTT? And then its like a bit of scary yet happy frenzy when you're happy you restored it but now you gotta escape this chaotic mess where you die so many times, and not to mention mastering the new ability you had just received to its full potential in the next 20-30 mins you spend attempting this, my goodness this WAS BEAUTIFUL! Especially for someone who had not been able to finish games or idk games just wouldn't feel the same, Ori and the blind forest was the first game I completed on my pc and and it's one of my most favourite games like ever, now I'm playing Ori WoTW and loving every minute of it so far. Let's just say these games made me love gaming again and platformers/metroidvanias will always always have my heart. :') 🫶🏻
Literally my reaction was a mix of "Yay the tree is going back to its formal glory!!" and "AW FUCK FUCK FUCK" which honestly is how music can change how you feel about a scene
When I first played this, I thought it was going to be like the old Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time game. You finish saving an element, so you can take a break and enjoy the cutscene. So after cleansing the heart, I sat back and said "Oh good, I can take a break." Theeeen I got the achievement. "Run for- huh? ... OH SHIT!"
I remembered dying multiple times on this stage lol. Because of that, the music got stuck in my head, and it made me searched for the soundtrack. There's really a silver lining to that.
First time I saw this masterpiece of a level, I reached the end and died on purpose. And then I did it again and again, just to play it again over and over. The combination of the calm music and the frantic water rising was incredible.
Hold up did most people get dash before clearing the waters? I didn’t and was wondering why the waters caught me so often when other people were saying it was so easy.
I just beat the game without even knowing air dash exists. I took that skill but there was no tutorial so I had no idea how to use it, I thought I'd have to find a special ability-tree or something for that but no. Well who needs air dash anyways?
A big big big thank you for this video. I've been doing this for two hours. Turns out that I wasn't taking advantage of the longer hold on the bash jump....and the more frustrated I got the more quick inputs, etc....I kept dying at the exit and making little mistakes. I just got out of the damn Ginso and I think that's enough Ori for tonight, y'all. :)
Longer hold? Dang, I had not used that because I thought it would make me more susceptible to getting caught by the water. I will try that next attempt!
I was just sitting there in sheer awe. Then I got the achievement "Run for it" and looked at it in confusion. Then I saw the water and sheer fucking panic kicked in
Just completed the game for the first time, and this episode gave me incredible feelings. I was laughing, screaming, crying, shivering at the same time. I even felt healt floating through my body because of how much emotions i felt at the same time. Best part of Ori for sure.
The hardest part is not knowing when the enemies will shoot (aside from enough trial and error). There are times you have to just guess whether something will shoot at correct time. If they don’t you’re dead and restart from scratch.
I just did "The Escape" for the first time and wow! This sequence was perfection. Absolutely stunning. I don't know if I've ever heard music in a game that fit so well with the gameplay, which itself was pure adrenaline-pumping fast-paced fun! I was literally grinning the entire time and I didn't want it to end! This is a very memorable bit of gaming and the developers should be proud. A true work of art! 10/10
I wish I could go back to those times. All to worry about than was a fun game. All we can do now is remember. I really hope there’s a new ori at some point. This was one of my favourite parts of this game. The music, the adrenaline, the run, and the cutscene after makes this memory perfect. You earned a sub Thanks for reminding me of this masterpiece of a game.
Did this last night. The number of times it took me to do the very last jump before you end up in the chimney that leads to the exit was actually embarrassing 😂 A solid 45 minutes, at least.
Thanks for this video. I was stuck right towards the end for about 24 hours. Realized that I needed to do a different jump combination than the one I was trying. Got me through no problem. Great video.
That final spider. Every time. EDIT: Turns out my big mistake at that spot was not realizing I could jump up the walls to get to the lanterns. Once I started doing that, I was finally able to complete it in a few more runs. Thank you!

Man that last spider screwed up my escape everytime, but once I beat it my heart was racing it was the one of the most exhilarating gaming experience I've ever had
I don't know why this isn't in the list of hardest video game levels. I've died a million times already and the farthest I got is the last spider enemy. I don't have air dash though so I'm using bash all the way. It's hard to use it on jumping enemies like how easily you do it.

It truly is a beautiful sequence. When the game was released on Xbox I completed this part without taking damage after a fair amount of deaths and you could only use jump + bash.
