I started to learn the bass at the age of 52. If only....I had had the luck to have a parent to encourage my musical talents at a young age. I see the happiness it gives you to play Ellen. To all other kids and parents..... see what's possible? And to think this journey has barely begun!

It was a Charles video that first got me hooked on the Bass being a much cooler instrument than I ever realized then I saw David 504 and then I saw this cutest little girl sitting next to a Bass that was bigger than she was and the caption read Ellens Story and I’ve been hooked on loving the Bass ever since. I watch all your videos all the time. Anything you can pick up from Charles or Davie for that matter is priceless. Your smile laughter and happiness always makes viewing your videos a pleasure. lol! Don't worry Sir. You'll be fine. 😁 Paul McCartney was not a super technical player, & I never heard him slap bass, but he knew where to put the notes. 👍
If we want to be accurate it only took her like 1 or 2 years to be good at playing the bass, ofc she wasn't the most experienced bass player at 8-9 and she is still learning, but just look at her Tom Sawyer cover for example, she absolutely nailed it! So don't worry you don't necessarily need 11 years, haha! 😆

I play a one-string fretless bass. I would love to show Ellen and her dad this unique design improvised at an all-acoustic music party in a decommissioned church in a coastal community here in British Columbia, Canada when a stringed bass wasn't available. The evolved model has a contact microphone and can be used through a PA. The bass is a redesign of an old design that has been around for years.

Mark King of Level 42 would be an excellent study with his slap bass technique. That group's 80s hit 'Something About You' has some interesting bass phrases that Ellen would enjoy.
RUclips's algorithm is a puzzle, for some reason it suggested this video to me, and I'm a photographer?? but without a doubt the girl plays the bass AMAZINGLY!!!
