    Great video. One "shortcut" you can use is to pop off the cable assembly from the door handle instead of removing the 2 screws holding the entire handle assembly to the panel. If you pause the video at 3:28 you can see the little white tab sticking up between the 2 screws. Press that forward, and the little white cover pops right off taking the cables with it. To reinstall, line up the tab on the front of the white cover (you'll see what I mean when you have it off and look at it) with the square hole in the handle assembly and then pivot it to snap it back into place (the tab will latch). I discovered this by accident when the cover popped off while I was taking the first screw off. I thought I had broken it. Then, I realized that it is apparently the 'correct' way to remove the panel.

    By the way, you don't need to unscrew and remove the door handle assembly. The white plastic cover and mechanism just snaps off and back on. Much easier.

    hey pal, thanks for saving me hundreds of dollars with this video. i have a quick question i can’t really find a solution to- i have a cable connected to the panel located under the 12v car plug that had yanked on my backpack and pulled the board out with the plate. i can’t seem to get the plate to reattach without the board falling into the paneling. any idea on a fix to this or where i can find a fix to this? i tried a forum online and was told it should just snap back in place and it kind of does but like i said it’s not connecting to the board so when i push it back in, it just falls backwards. anyways thanks for the video!!!

    • @jcx2bby
      @jcx2bby  Год назад

      I'm not entirely sure what's happening, but it sounds like maybe a little plastic clip has broken off. If that's the case there's not much you can do. Even if you try to glue pieces back together, with plastic it never works quite right. If you're able to figure out if something is broken or not, replacing it is really your only option for my experience. Good luck

  • @gofiveggggg
    @gofiveggggg 2 года назад +2

    Note, if anyone has problems with the switch, try spraying electronic contact cleaner on the switches on the door. It might help, and you may not even have to remove the door panel. Be careful not to get the spray on the leather or plastic, it may stain or discolor.

    Only comment is once you remove the screw from the inside door handle cover the plastic cover snaps right out. That it makes it easier to replace the door panel later.

    So is this common on Hyundai? Same thing happened to my car and this video is very helpful but now I’m doubting if I can do it myself. 😳 just to be clear, if the same panel works for the other windows, then it’s definitely not the motor just the button correct?

    • @jcx2bby
      @jcx2bby  2 года назад +1

      For this series of Elantra, yes, very common.
      I wouldn't say it's definitely the switch or motor unless I was able to check it myself. But if your button is acting funny, as in, it doesn't feel like the others do, that's a good place to start.
      I actually have another extra switch if you want it. I'd give it to you if you wanted to cover shipping. No pressure, just an offer.
      Good luck!

      I replaced the switch. Super easy and helpful to follow along with video! The only bad thing is that my window still doesn’t work 😂. Do you think it’s the regulator? The other 3 windows still power down, just not the driver side one.

    • @jcx2bby
      @jcx2bby  2 года назад

      @@donnaledesma5837 ah bummer! That would lead me to believe it is the window motor or power to the motor. What I'd do next is take the power connector off the motor and use a multimeter on the wires while activating the switch. See if voltage is getting through. If so, I'd replace the motor.

    Wow, great video and explanation. HELP: Writing to ask if anyone has the same problem I do with my 2013 Elantra GT (also known as the i30 overseas), the plastic panel fascia surounding the driver door window and lock and mirror switches is "sticky" and the plastic surface seems to be sticky and breaking down. It is like this surface is rubberized and now is sticky feeling and also getting scratched up. This original owner car has been indoor garage kept and is 9 years old with 6k mileage. It seems that the design of these materials is lesser in quality and durability with any other car I have owned. Any solutions? I tri d to look for a skin or decal to put on the interior trim. Can't find anything on AMZ and Eb@y. I found a foreign Hyundai part (for the i30) that has the switches with a surrounding assembly, but not sure if works with the US Hyundai Elantra GT Models. Seems like the US facia around the switch is built into the whole door panel. Has anyone come up against this, and if so please share your solutions and thoughts. Love this car and it's looks today, and the panic roof. Enjoy the ride and stay safe.

    • @jcx2bby
      @jcx2bby  2 года назад

      No, it is riveted or plastic welded (depending on year and body style) to the main door panel. If you pried that little panel up, you'd have a big mess on your hands trying to reattach it to anything. Assuming it didn't splinter apart when you took it out. What do you recommend as a good, comparable, replacement car for the 2013 Hyundai Elantra between a 2017 Hyundai Sonata or a 2017 VW PASSAT? My 2013 Hyundai is starting to rust underneath and has a lot of miles.

    • @jcx2bby
      @jcx2bby  3 года назад +2

      A Sonata all the way. My mom has a 2018 Sonata and it is a great car. Some models had recalls for engine fires, but it looked like this was very very specific conditions and she has had 0 issues with her car so far. She bought it new.
      VW makes fun cars BUT...German cars are not known for reliability. I own 2 BMWs and there is always something going on with them. I had a VW Jetta about 10 years ago and it was the same. If you like the Passat, by all means go for it, but know that it 'most likely' will not be as dependable or cheap to maintain as the Hyundai. Good luck.
