Marvel has a ton of legendary love stories from both the page and the big screen. Peter Parker & Mary Jane, Steve Rogers & Peggy Carter and Tony Stark & Pepper are just a few of the pop culture romances that make fans believe in true love. None of those are the greatest love story in Marvel though. There’s one that transcends life, space and all reason. The doomed love between Deadpool and Death herself. There’s only one thing standing in between these two bizarre Marvel characters from having their happily ever after, Thanos himself.
If you were just familiar with Thanos from the MCU, you might not be aware that he’s OBSESSED with death. By obsessed I don’t mean the idea that he could save the universe if he took out half of all life. I mean that he’s literally obsessed with the woman who is the embodiment of Death itself. Thanos has spent most of his time in Marvel comics dedicated to proving to Death that he’s worthy of her affection. Despite all the chaos, godly powers and superhero fights Thanos has gotten into for her, she has no interest.
Deadpool, on the other hand, has managed to charm Death in a way the Mad Titan never could. The two would be a perfect match if Thanos hadn’t doomed the couple by giving Deadpool eternal life.
So let’s dive right into the story of how Thanos gave Deadpool eternal life to keep him from Death!

Death liking Deadpool is classic heart wanting what it can't have. Deadpool was the first immortal that could still die she met.
I appreciate that the Ryan Reynolds Deadpool films have kinda been setting this up too - Vanessa appears to Wade in near-death moments & dreams, and could easily be a skin that death herself wears to seduce Wade. Nice theory!

Its not an Easter egg. Its on purpose. Vennesa was meant to be Death in the second movie. In comics cannon, thats one of the main characteristic of Deadpool, Wanting to die to be with Death. The show is trying as hard as they can to be comic book accurate but they cant just put Death out of nowhere.

I would say that Deadpool's lust for Death is really a self projection of his desire to kill himself, but Thanos won't let him die for some reason. Deadpools love for Death could also mean he loves himself, alive, and does not truly want to die. He is just lost and lonely. Imagine falling in love only to know you will out live each lover. I would imagine the heart would turn a bit cold and the value of life would dwindle, as would the ability to let anyone get close to him and so he self sabotages whether consciously or sub consciously. Perhaps he only seeks death and toys with death because he knows he cannot die, suggesting he doesn't truly want to die, but rather he just wants to know what's on the other side of life. Is there heaven, hell and god there waiting? Something else or will he cease to exist. When you have been around long enough to learn everything known, the only unknown left is the afterlife. Imaging being the one who knows everything yet when it comes to the afterlife, everyone can/will get to meet/touch/kiss death except for Deadpool. Maybe death is not even real, only a figment of his dreams. Maybe death is actually someone he loved who he lost, or the one that got away/stole his heart, or maybe he's just feeling sorry for himself. What is clear is that Deadpool represents eternal life and death represents eternal death. They are polar opposites. Perhaps the longing is really for a union or intimacy with someone like him, death, someone who's darkness/mind is as dark/filthy as his own. The mating of polar opposites can be so intense and of such chemistry the polar opposites combine to be a neutral state of the positive and negative forces. The contentess together means a change of environment, meaning Deadpool and death, like any couple genuinely and contently in love, the 'him and her' identities are replaced with 'we', which is rejected by both, despite both wanting to be together, which could be perceived as one of them or neither of them is/are ready to give up their identity/s, therefore denying themselves what they both long for, eachother. Many people deny themselves the experience of such an intimacy because they feel the chemistry would be so strong that if they were to touch, kiss or mate they may never want the experience to end, which is a reflection of the fear of commitment and settling down for a serious relationship. Particles can bounce around all they like but the real attraction is to the polar opposite that satisfies the reconciliation of energy. Love hurts and people typically don't like to be hurt or hurt others. Just like covid, Sometimes people hide behind masks to cover their faces, but a keen eye can see through the veil of a mask, and even a helmet, just as can a smart device be used to visualise a 3d rendering of things and even an augmented reality complete with interconnectivity, essentially capable of being able to see everything in the past, real time of the present and predict the future. such as my typing of this comment. Even if I wrote my comment on paper the all seeing eye can see what is being written down, which is another reality people tend to prefer to live in denial of being real also...

When you can't die, the danger immediately shifts from avoiding death to avoiding getting stuck in a situation that only death would ever liberate you from. That would actually make a good Deadpool movie. Him and Thanos fighting over Death. Even when Thanos wiped out most of the people he did it for his love of Death, and Deadpool comes into the picture and takes Death away from Thanos. Thanos being jealous gives Deadpool immortality so he can't be with Death. Well I think the Avengers movie solved the problem with Death and Thanos, or have they.

@@Marcustheseer Thanos was ashed. The writers have stated that the Soul Stone cannot bring the dead back to life. to get around this with the half of the universe needing to be brought back they said that being ashed is not dying. its being unmade. not dead, but ceasing to exist in any form at all.

from what you've described it sounds like Deadpool is just far closer to death in multiple ways.
Deadpool does what he does a thread away from death at all times.
Thanos usually looks as if he's the most alive and furthest from death. his journey to death is incredibly difficult for anyone looking to bring him to that state. Thanos isn't afraid of death, but he also doesn't ever let that chance happen.
