Wolverine is one of the most popular mutants in the Marvel Universe and one of its first break out stars when it comes to the big screen. Hugh Jackman might have made the man who is the best at what he does even if what he does isn’t very nice a household name, but not all of those households might know some of the stranger aspects of the clawed Canadian. There’s more to the man named Logan than just healing, adamantium, and claws. From his long life to his many associations with groups like the X-Men, Defenders, Fantastic Four, and Avengers to the weird side effects of his super powers that are superpowers all on their own. Animal senses make Wolverine hard to fool and means that your dog likes him better than he likes you. Healing means that even time has a hard time killing Wolverine. Even if you get close, his berserker rage makes things even harder. If his natural powers weren’t enough, Weapon X went and made his skeleton indestructible and then Professor X made his mind impenetrable. His regenerative powers alone give him enough side powers to fill a superhero team of his own. He’s a man of mystery even to himself, which strangely itself is a product of his healing powers. Let’s take a dive into Wolverine and see if we can’t find some things you never knew about Logan, the Wolverine.

That was a lot of the problem, it was not the "Xmen". It was the Wolverine series. I hated the way Fox handled the movies. I just can't understand the reasoning behind buying the rights to an established series like that, then just ignoring the vast majority of the source material. Like First Class or whatever ..... that was NOT the original team of Xmen. The destroyed the comic story and cut out a huge story arc that would have been great to see ... The Morlocks. Of course they would have had to use Angel which they did not seem to like to do. Seeing Angel lose his wings in the comics gave a much deeper understanding of why he accepted the offer from Apocalypse.

Hugh Jackman was always a good choice for Wolverine in my mind and just got more Wolverine as time went on. I dunno about anyone else, but I was unprepared and kinda shocked at how young and unbuff Jackman actually was in that shot from his earliest outings. He was almost downright flabby in that shot. Turns out the simple secret to a healthy, buff bod is playing the role of the angriest, yet most relatable superhero in the Marvelverse for a mere 18 years…sign me up bub.

    • @christopherbertoli7322
      @christopherbertoli7322 2 года назад +6

      >*"a healthy, buff bod"*
... is not what he had. He got the ripped look the same way wrestlers and MMA fighters fake their weight, by severe dehydration. For the earlier movies it was at least 24hrs without drinking water, by the time he hit Logan he was up to 3 days. That's borderline lethal territory. Henry Cavill does the same thing for The Witcher which, again, is very unhealthy.
Putting on the mass for those muscles is a bit more of a grey area, but short version it's a lot more protein than the average person is consuming and has been linked to heart disease. It's kind of funny. A healthy and fit person looks nothing like what you see on TV or in cinema.

I mean the Adamantium was added to his bones during the weaponizing process, it is not a part of him naturally, so how could he regrow the metal not to mention it's not organic, it would just be his bones. So technically he would be himself before the weapon x program gave him the remarkable metal. Seems like a big thing to overlook.

3:20 he said Wolverine forgot his whole name.
The official story should have been that: Logan forgot it, because his original brain was melted in getting Adamantium injection.
That’d answer the question if he could heal from total brain loss. The Adamantium would have been molten for a while, inhibiting the brains cortex. After a long while, his healing power wouldn’t retain the thoughts of those brain cells.
Prof X would only get so far
He’d need Dr Stranges ability to look into a soul. That would clear everything up completely. Till then, he’s just a lost soul, no matter what he does.

To point #4 and talking about how his healing factor eliminates the "curses" of being a Vampire or Werewolf because it replaces his damaged cell's the same thing would happen with his body being "poisoned" by the adamantium. It would have to poison him at a rate so high that the healing factor couldn't repair/replace his damaged cells quick enough to negate the poisoning, in which case he'd never have survived for as long has he did after the initial procedure was done.

He's been around a long time and he knows quite a lot from covert operations, to languages, hacking, strategies, fighting styles and so much more. He's a pilot for god's sake and they make him out to be a nauseous person on flights in the jet. Love Hugh playing him, but really, really wish the writers would've gone way more above and beyond to capture what makes the character so great.

I look at it as if it's different people interpreting what they have seen or heard like many story's and even real life events some parts of a story relate and are close to each other. while sometimes having extra parts added in and or twisted. Some things look different to others.
Some times it's refreshing and unique to see how some one else can interpret a story in there own way. Yes it can get confusing and sometimes not sit right with an audience.
What I would love to see is wolve coming back to movies as feral wolverine easely allowing a new actor to take up the role.

The science behind old man Logan. Having his bones completely covered in bone, and with bones being the only source of fresh new red and white blood cells. For Logan, he never received any new blood cells and with the metal graphs to his entire skeleton, any body including Wolverine's considers that a trauma or an injury. Therefore, his healing factor is constantly going, that doesn't include additional injuries. With both of these huge handicaps, his healing factor continues to try to keep him at "factory specs" and the lack of one critical biological function begins to wear on his physique, causing his healing factor to work harder and harder every time he gets injured. With 200 years of walking the earth, he didn't age at ALL since becoming a fully grown and mature. Then gets the adamantium in the late 70s-early 80s. Only about 50-70 years after that does Logan even begin showing signs of significant age. Ultimately, his death can be directly attributed to the adamantium, since his death was a result of far too much bodily injury (in Old Man Logan anyways).

    • @CoolGobyFish

as a 40yr fan i kinda preferred it when we still had no idea about the exact details of his origin..
i also remember when his claws were drawn to spring out his wrists & not his hands & of course they were believed to be solid metal..also when it comes to the movies they haven't used his heightened senses ability enuff.
& Jackman looks the part (except way too tall) but has never quite nailed my favorite character.

Yeah, I am also a decades long fan of Wolverine, mutants, etc. and found it quite lame how Fox changed the claws to come out between his fingers.
I am hoping when Marvel brings out Wolverine that they put Logan's claws back to how they have always been in the comic books, along with the original origins of all of their mutants being used too.
Not the overly used rebooted versions of their characters.

Ive often considered Wolverine to be a short surly James Bond.
And it would also be noce if he used other weapons along with his claws.

I have always wondered how Wolverine is able to sleep since he regens instantly and constantly, how does he manage to force himself asleep. A real life Wolverine would probably go insane from his mind never being able to rest. Also if Wolverine actually tried lifting weights to bodybuild or increase strength he would be the largest and strongest human ever considering he heals instantly.

Originally, before they went a different way with the origin stories and it was unknown who/what Wolverine really was, the writers of Wolverine had his claws not be part of his body but an extension of his gloves. Originally they weren't long knives in his arms, they were telescoping tubes of adamantium that were just 1mm thick (since adamantium was so strong, they could still destroy things despite being so thin), that extended from his gloves. Wolverine was never seen with his claws without his gloves on back in the day, and everybody always wondered if they were really part of his body or not. This is why the oldest versions of Wolverine's claws didn't look like knife blades, but more tubular and ribbed (indicating the sections in their telescoping). Hell, it was years before Wolverine was even drawn without his mask. Later his claws were written to be part of his body, and not his gloves, because if anybody could wear the gloves he wouldn't be unique as a character.
Wolverine was also originally kind of a "villain of the week" that just comes out of nowhere, is there for the Hulk to fight for a while, then be totally forgotten. Why a Wolverine? Because they're tiny short animals that are incredibly fierce, taking on animals many times their size. Later he became part of the X-men, but he was just kind of a filler extra character that was just there for the background, he was kind of comic relief and dumb. He'd get angry, charge the enemy, get beat up, and the reader would laugh. He was going to be written out of the books but then Canadian writer John Bryne felt a kinship with this Canadian character, didn't want to let one of these few Canuck characters disappear, so Bryne gave him much more purpose and depth. This was further elaborated and built upon by Chris Claremont. If Claremont has to keep this character that gets angry and rushes at the enemy like a fool, well dammit, Claremont was going to make damn sure to give this character purpose for doing so besides being comic relief. This is really when Wolverine took off as a character. His reasons for always rushing to fight became things like he was an angry killer with a horrible past, where he would constantly kill and fight. He wasn't a nice guy, he was a ticking time bomb. “He has to fight to control himself, but what would make him a hero in my vision of him was that he would be able to overcome his natural instincts to slit your throat. That was what really would make him a hero, not his abilities to beat you up. The fighting was what he lived for". The writers had to really push the envelope to justify this this character, an angry violent killer, into an honorable hero that people would look up to, while still keeping his blood thirst there. Such a balance of intense good and intense evil is probably what fascinates people to this character and made him such a fan favorite.
He stopped being an angry idiot, and started being a viscous man who always had to hold his anger in check, but be honorable enough to stay with the X-men (a group meant to portray heroes). Then stories about his anger explaining his rage, how he was the loose cannon in the group always with a short fuse. The justification of claws being part of his body took his backstory places. What if he has a healing factor to allow him to survive popping his claws? What if he's really old? Lacing his bones with adamantium seems to have been inspired by the concept of "what if his bones didn't heal? How about we have his bones reinforced?" etc. There was also talk about Sabertooth being his father, but everybody had guessed that this was true back in the day, so there would be no twist. Thus Sabertooth was written to be his brother.
The reason why he was called Weapon X (Weapon 10), was because he was the tenth attempt at recreating the super soldier, with Weapon I (Weapon 1) being Captain America.
There's tons to talk about the character, but I think I'd better stop writing. Here's two links that go into detail about Wolverine
    secretsbehindthexmen.blogspot.com/2012/01/wolverines-secret-origin.html
    blog.gocollect.com/john-byrnes-best-wolverine/
Lastly here's a little tidbit about Wolverine's original name (Logan). He's the shortest Canadian character, and the twist is he was named after the tallest mountain in Canada, Mount Logan!
