Most actors aren't lucky enough to get hired for a sitcom, the vast majority of them are working in coffee shops or other low wage jobs instead. People like Charlotte who have the guts to build their own successful businesses are impressive as hell.

Some actors value the roles they play as well. The guy that played Short Round, Ke Huy Quan, in the Goonies disappeared from acting for like three decades because he didn't like any of the roles he was being offered (due to various factors, like being the cliche asian/misrepresented/borderline or straight up racist depictions) and finally he did return to acting to be in Everything Everywhere All At Once, because he liked the role and how the character was represented... and he did PHENOMINALLY by all reports (I haven't watched it yet cause it's only on Showtime+ and I don't have it).

My point was that even most really talented people don't have the luck of getting chosen for a big role. There are tons of talented actors we'll never hear about just like there are thousands and thousands of incredible singers who never become pop stars. The commenter saying that not "making it" in a certain way proves you have no talent is ridiculous. Some of the people who become famous aren't that talented, haha, there's so much luck involved. It's smart to take matters into your own hands whenever possible rather than just sitting around hoping that a miracle falls from the sky.

The only thing that would have made it better is if she wiped her eyes with a couple hundred dollar bills. xD I usually kind of wrinkle my nose at people flashing money around (Mostly cause I have none and it hurts to see people just flaunt an amount that could save me SO much difficulty) but in this case, I would have cackled.

I absolutely HATE it when people ask me if I’m pregnant!! I usually just stare at them dead in the face and say “No, I’m just fat.” The look on their faces when they finally realize how rude it was to ask in the first place is just super satisfying lol

After four c sections/ children, of course I also have a bump, but I love responding, “ No, but thank you for thinking that I am at an age where I can still have children…” Gets them every time, the sh*theads 😂😂

43 years ago I told my sweet pregnant wife of 2 weeks that I couldn’t stand working as an employee and I wanted to start my own construction business. I was( still am at age 73) a carpenter. I had a rusted station wagon, a minimum of tools and little money. She didn’t hesitate for a second. She said “ do it”. Bless her heart. What I did have was determination, a killer work ethic and a burning in my heart to succeed. I made it. We made it. My life...still married, 3 daughters, 5 grand kids, nice paid for home, 2 investment houses, other investments....my life is more than I ever imagined it could be. None of it is easy. Every business decision is mine to make and I have to eat the mistakes. I wouldn’t have it any other way. To those who criticize successful people or envy them or disparage them out of jealousy...weakness really... are losers. Fuck them. Self employment isn’t for the weak. I agree except in Logan Paul's case. I don't think that clap back was good or funny or answered the very real point brought up by the original commenter. It didn't seem to me that person was being a hater because they were jealous. He/she had a good point that people are struggling to survive and the rich choose to destroy things meant to be enjoyed just to show off the fact that they can. Also I don't see how his friend getting butt hurt and cussing at the camera was a "clap back" at all! Lizzos was a good one basically everyone's was good except for JLO lying and claiming her skin care products are why her face looks like she has plastic surgery 😂 but I think the Paul one was a criticism vs a hate comment

Men write themselves roles all the time, and there's NOTHING wrong with it. Trying to make Charlotte or any writer/producer/director/actress feel bad about writing a role for themselves is ridiculous.

And in honesty, most the sitcoms written by men for themselves sucked and were short-lived, e.g. Mulaney. People think Jerry Seinfeld wrote the whole thing for himself but he did not. A team of writers is usually the safer bet, but everybody deserves their chance, of course.

Whether the show is a commercial “success” or not is irrelevant. You wrote and starred in a show that made it to pilot. That’s amazing. From some of the podcasts I’ve listened to, it sounds extremely difficult to get anything made at all. My mil used to always ask me at large family gatherings if i was pregnant again. I would always cheerfully answer, "Nope! It's just fat!" because i always got the sense it was less about finding out if i was pregnant and more of an attempt to make me feel insecure about my post-baby body, and i wasnt having any of it.

We live in a world were creatives can make their art and put it into the world like never before. YOU Charlotte have inspired me when I saw your vlogs of the show pilot coming together, I am in that same boat, of course with out your following but none the less, fish in a sea of people climbing to show their lifes work. Absolutely. If someone is, and they haven't told you, it's for a reason. Usually it's advised to not tell people until after the first trimestre, as there's a high risk of losing the baby in that stage, so it's devastating enough for the parents, without having to tell everyone "ah nevermind". But aside from that, people have every right to tell others WHEN they want to, so if you haven't been told, it either means no they're not pregnant, or yes they are but they don't want you to know yet. An ex-coworker and good friend of mine tried for years to get pregnant, her husband and her had to do lots of test, take pills, do various things, they desperately wanted to build a family, to the point where she'd come at work in tears when she got her period, but since they had been married for like 5 years iirc, people kept asking "how come you don't have kids yet?" and she told me, each time it was like a slap in the face. Good end though, the hormone supplements worked and she got pregnant and had a very pretty baby girl, and like 15 months later got pregnant again with a baby boy. She quit working at her second trimester, as she realised that if she kept working part time and had to hire a nanny, she would have lost money, while with government aids (not US), and all that, she'd save money being a full time mom, but we kept in touch. (Sorry I went a bit off the rail, I suffer from insomnia and am running on fumes, I'm completely brain dead atm)

Let's just take a moment to consider HOW MUCH WORK it takes to even WRITE a tv series that is so good it was picked up by a streaming service. Not only did Charlotte do that but she was also filming the YT series for us. That takes endless time, energy, and effort. The fact that Charlotte did this is absolutely incredible and admirable. I have so much respect for Charlotte and can't wait to see her show.
Also, how embarrassing that your life is so fucking sad and pathetic that you feel the need to critcize someone who has done so much for herself. I hope that persons life gets better because they're obviously miserable and unsuccessful in every sense of the word.

Rachel Bloom wrote and starred in her show Crazy Ex Girlfriend, and it’s one of my favourite shows. It made it even more enjoyable when I saw an interview about it being based on her struggle with a disorder featured on the show. I liked knowing a piece of her was put into her art. Keep doing what you’re doing, and follow your passion ❤
You know body image goes both ways. I'm a gym trainer pt and work in a vendor ft. I once had a customer in the vendor ask if I was losing weight because I looked too skinny. (I'm VERY muscular and lean) I said no. She insisted I was too skinny and unhealthy, which I'm not. She then left after I served her upset, and she came back with a case of donuts, threw them on the counter, and told me to eat. I was extremely upset for days. I know im very healthy and a good weight she had no right to do that. My point is that we need to support each other not bring each other down!
I totally agree with you. It really does go both ways and the worst part is that skinny shaming is more socially acceptable. It’s one of those things where people feel like it’s okay to say and don’t realize how harmful it can be. I’ve always been small but that’s not by choice. I have a very high metabolism so no matter how much I eat I can’t gain weight. I try to explain this to people but they always dismiss it saying I just need to eat more. It’s very frustrating and demeaning
True. People used to comment on my weight when I was skinny, asking me how much I weighed, etc. So rude. Now I'm 70 and have a nice grandma shape. I do have 6 grandkids

2. I don't really know anything about the case, again I just think the spiciness is funny. If Tate didn't want people to laugh at the clap back, he shouldn't have tried to bully a 19 year old in the first place.
3. What you can recycle depends on the country. In countries like Sweden (where both Greta and I are from), you can recycle most things - pizza boxes are sorted like cardboard. If you can't recycle pizza boxes, you live in a country that doesn't allow that, but countries differ, just as reasonable minds can😌🍀✨

Seems like everyone celebrating Tate getting arrested and Greta riding high on it are missing some important aspects. Why exactly did he get arrested? Literally nothing has been confirmed about the details and for anyone to think that Romanian police were only able to track him using a pizza box and didn't already know where he is are delusional.

My first reaction to you writing your own tv show and then starring in it was excitement. Not only for us who love and watch you every day, but for you as a personal goal that you're able to achieve. I have also wanted to write a show, but that takes skill, motivation, dedication, and time outside of regular life. You found a way to do all those things, and then you found a way to make it happen. If anything you're an inspiration to us all that it is possible to achieve our dreams if we work hard enough on them.
And the only worry I really have is if we get to see your show here in Norway too, because I really want to support your hard work.

It’s sad to say that I have experienced the “pregnancy” comments/questions while I was not pregnant. It was a formal affair and my dress showed my extra fluff when I sat down. The first thing the girl next to me said was “how far along are you?” All I said was I’m not pregnant I’m just fat and ate a dinner roll with butter 😂

When I first moved to where I live now there was a lady that worked at the deli counter of the supermarket that asked me everytime, haven't I had that baby yet? My youngest was 2 and I was just overweight. The first time it happened she was embarrassed and said she confused me for someone else. It went on for 2 years. The last time I saw here I asked how long she thought a pregnancy lasted and told her she obviously wasn't very close to this pregnant person because she's def had her baby by now. I never saw her again. I like to think she quit out of embarrassment.
Something tells me that you looked a million dollars and she was jealous, so tried to bring you down by making you feel self-conscious. I've never understood that - how others look doesn't affect your own reflection... 🤷♀️

One time I had a person at the gym asking if I was pregnant. I said "no, I just got a fat punch in my lower belly I can't get rid of". That really hurt, as its one of the main features I feel insecure about. Don't comment on people's bodies. Ever. Please. You don't know what that person's been though.

I think the fact that you wrote a tv series is so amazing. The amount of skill, dedication, and courage to take on such a huge project and put yourself out in the public like that is something I envy. I’m terrified to let anyone read anything I wrote bc I do not take criticism well, lol. One negative review would have me crying on the floor. So I’m so proud of you for putting yourself out like that. I hope nothing but the best and I’ll be there front and center to support you.

I think it's really awesome that you wrote your own series and you're starring in it! This is your character and your story (based on your real life experiences, if I remember correctly), so I think you'll bring more passion to it than someone else. I can't even begin to say how much I respect Arianna Grande for what she said. Whether I go out with a friend, with a date, or even with my parents, I keep my phone in my bag or coat pocket. I look around and see people out with friends, on a date, or with their family, and they're glued to their phones. Be respectful. Be in the moment with these people.

One of my favorite actresses/writers is Rachel Bloom, and she co-created, co-wrote and starred in the show Crazy Ex-Girlfriend, which is one of my all-time favorites.

On another note: asking someone if they're pregnant or when they're going to have kids ("where are your kids!?") Can be a very sensitive and hurtful question, especially if you're someone who's had difficulty getting pregnant. for example: one of my relatives kept asking my aunt in law if she was pregnant because her muscles gave out (I forgot the name) after her second miscarriage and now it looks like she's a few months pregnant all the time. You never know, and I honestly think you should keep such questions to yourself. If they want to tell you, they will. If not - mind your business
I've never been one to ask. I always let even my friends come to me. My cousin in law got pregnant, and it took her 5 months to tell me because I never asked. When she finally said something, I acted surprised. Don't be a rude ass. Being polite and minding your own business is free and a full-time job. And some people are just unemployed and in the negative.

Agree soooo hard. I can’t have kids. It’s awful when people either assume I do, or that I don’t want them, or when I was younger and they used to ask if I was getting pregnant any time soon. Chance would have been a fine thing. I don’t think people realise how much pain these sorts of questions can cause. I even have a colleague who was told she couldn’t take annual leave in school holidays because she didn’t have kids (desperately wanted them) when the specific holiday she wanted to go on was literally held in school holidays only because of its location - in a school.

Either it's "omg where are your kids? aren't you too old to not have them?" or it's "when are you getting kids?!" and all of that. Also, you can never win either, because either you get kids 'too soon' or you get them 'too late,' or if you have many you have 'too many' and if you choose to have none, you're 'selfish' 😂it's such a struggle

If you ask me, writing your own show and being the main character is MORE impressive, shows even more talent, time, effort and dedication. Kenneth Branagh casts himself all the time. M. Night Shyamalan always does a cameo in his movies. It shows a level of passion that goes into the show. The more involved the actors are in the creation of the show, the better potential it has. I'm really looking forward to it, the only thing I hope for is that we will still have Charlotte's wonderful reaction videos that brighten my day. I work from home and sometimes watching her videos is the only time I laugh throughout the work day. Does wonders for my mental Health. Thanks Charlotte! xx

Lin Manuel Miranda has written and starred in two musicals as the main character, In the Heigths and Hamilton, and even though he had to be convinced he also had a cameo in the movie adaptation of In The Heights.
He has also had small parts in other works he wrote music in, like singing a song in Moana, and also casts his friends in his work as well, like Christoper Jackson, Anthony Ramos, Olga Merediz etc. Nothing wrong with that, they are all extremely talented people and deserve the parts.

I ONCE made an assumption Someone was pregnant. She was not. She was my neighbor. She then moved, like immediately. This was like 15 years ago and I still feel awful about it and I just taught my 10 year old son to never ever ask if somebody's pregnant even if they look like they are about to give birth the next day and told him the story
If your neighbor moved solely because you asked if she was pregnant when she wasn't, then it makes me wonder how she cans stand straight when she clearly has no spine.

So…funny (or not so much) about asking people if they’re pregnant-and why you shouldn’t do it. I had a 26 cm, 10 lb fibroid in my uterus. Before I had my hysterectomy, I obviously looked…big. When people would ask, I would just say no. The week before my surgery, I answered with “Nope-I actually have a tumor, but thanks for asking.” I felt bad afterwards, but I bet she won’t ask someone again!

24 hours later and I have some thoughts on the last clap back from Ms Potato Queen. Getting an acting gig ain't easy because some directors or casting agents like to recycle actors (happens in my country) so it's not that easy. Charlotte wanted to make herself recognized so she did it on her own terms. If you want something done, do it yourself! That's the only way to do it and on your own terms.

I am a over weight woman and back in 2016 found out I had to get gallbladder surgery. Doc failed to tell the nurses and they took me to a really small room and blocked the door. After sitting me down, the head nurse said " We think you may be pregent." I replied, "No, Im just fat and its my gallbladder." At that moment the EMTs opened the door and said I had to go. Our hosptial was not equiped to do the surgery.

Congrats on your pilot! I worked for a big production company in the 90s and my brother is a tv writer. I know a lot of people in the industry and I know how hard it is just to get a pilot filmed, nevermind picked up. Men write themselves as main characters into things all the time and no one has ever had a problem with that. YOU GO Charlotte! I hope you get picked up and the series runs for a long time.

The young lady from Abbot Elementary also created the show and just received a Emmy. Issa Rae also wrote and created a show and starred in it and Insecure became 1 of the most successful shows on HBO if I’m not mistaken. 50 cent is another example even tho he was the led he still had a memorable role in Power playing Kanan. And there has been soooooooo many more but it’s no different than starting a business you start a business to become your OWN brand because you KNOW your worth and can fund it instead of making someone else millions you make it for yourself it’s called “betting on YOURSELF”.
