With out a doubt, hands down the best travel/sailing vlog on you tube. The one big mistake people make when traveling is not getting to know and share with the locals. You guys get it ,I love that you do and that you're able to share that with your viewers. Great job and thanks. Watching from the fl. Keys.
I agree, the few places I've been, the best times I had were spending time with the locals and just hanging out. The more in the cities doing "tourist" stuff the more I felt uncomfortable and bored. It's interesting, its assumed the reason to travel is to get to know a new place, but so many people stop at the ports or airports and don't venture out and ACTUAllY experience the area or country and its very sad.
I'm a Filipino and it's so nice to see you both tried balut and so nice to hear you and you show respect in each places and there culture you visited....upload more....
Befriending locals to the point of being invited to eat with them is one of the best experiences you can have. I mean really, whats the point of traveling if you don't REALLY experience the culture as the locals do. Most westerners have no idea how good they have it especially when it comes to food (eg drive through, supermarket etc), and it's sad. Thanks for giving them real world perspective. Great video!
I just love your channel Ben & Ashley! I think it is great how you ingratiate the local populous. Even with the cultural foods that you try. I just realized that with this video, I can finally lose that last twenty pounds that I just could not shake. The bat did it for me! LOL Thank you for all you both do. I am always looking forward to your next video.
I lived in Singapore for a few years and was amazed how many "Westerners" only ate western food in asian countries, for me it was like whats the point of living in another country and ignoring the local culture. For me I tried every local dish just to find out what I liked, my fav's I have regularly. Thumbs up for your approach, too many turn their noses up and miss out.
@@donc734 Best Char Kuey Tiao I ever had was in the wet market in ECP (East Coast Parklands) not sure if it's still there. Take a bicycle and try finding it. Enjoy your stay in SG.
I've been watching your videos one after the other for days and I always remember to give a thumbs up. I love watching them. They are always well done.
You two are gutsy! Being a European born in Morocco I have had my fair share of different foods but after being in the US now for 50 years plus, I wondered how hard it would be to be gutsy again. Love your life and videos.
As someone who has spent a lot of time in PI, I can tell you that just like you can find different hot dogs depending on location, you can find different balut. Also the pronunciation is different depending on which island you are located. Northern Luzon Balut ( pronounced.... bah-loot) can be a chicken or a duck egg. The time in the ground will also vary. Chicken eggs are usually much saltier. Make sure you chew your balut well as you can choke on the beak or feet. As an FYI, yes it is touristy, I highly recommend Baguio in the Philippines. Mountain area about 10-12 miles from the coast. Very pretty. Also cool if you need a break from the heat. Thanks for the vid again! Fair winds!
This is probably the least painful... No scratch that. The best Balut eating video I've seen. Shows how much an open and mature mind you two have. Kudos to the both of you.
Seeing Bens face while talking about the balut. I didn't think he would do it. I noticed it was much darker out when he did. Ashley had to talk him in to doing it I bet. Lol. Keep the hits coming!
Love your channel soooo much. I really appreciate that you show this kind of stuff. This is pretty much the best reality/travel/tinyhome;)/sailing/adventure channel ever!!!!
It's amazing in one part of the world people would not think about eating somethings but in other parts of the world people think its a delicacy. I used to live and fish in Trinidad and we used to catch a fish named a Crappo. We just used to take it off our lines and throw them back. But in other parts of the world I found out that people ate them if I had known that I would have eaten them too. I think its all in the mind for most things, I love your videos your very open minded, your true adventurers
Agree!..uniqueness of food in parts of the planet (for foreigners) is a cultural thing for the locals and it is truly an " all in the mind" repulsion or acceptance for a foreigner by the way it smells, looks and taste...if they ever get to the tasting part.
Awesome video. You guys have become one of my fav channels as a RUclips veteran. 🤩 And your from just up the road! Love it!We have balut here on the West Coast in Canada it is big with the Philipenos!
Am a Ni-Van living in Utah for 18 years now and counting. I am allergic to kava myself. I get swollen face for 2-3 days for a bowl of kava. I followed Nahoa since 4 years ago I think. I like Nahoa sailing... Safe travels Nahoa..
I appreciate that you two can be adventurous with food. I don't know that I can be quite so much. Turtle soup sounds good. Plucking a chicken, no big deal. Bat soup? No thanks. Balot? NO way! Yes, I eat typical western hard-boiled eggs. Yet, I can't imagine eating a fertilized egg. Props to you two!
This is what kind of content on youtube i have been looking for. I am so happy i have something to watch again. Just subscirbed to your channel guys. Stay safe travelling!
The Arm Chair Quarterbacks will always criticize. I love your story telling, and I appreciate learning about other cultures and the way they live. Thank you so much!
Thank you for sharing your amazing experiences . You's are so open minded ! I love it. They had people eating 4,000 year old duck eggs that were black on "Fear Factor" TV All that looks good. Variety is the spice of life ! Cheers
robert orzech 😆 it’s just the name, they’re not actually 4,000 years old. Here in Singapore they’re called century eggs, and yes the whites turn black. It’s kind of like pickled eggs as in they go through a curing process for 20 days or so. They taste pretty much the same, it’s the texture that’s really different. Slightly firm but jelly like, kind of like jello texture actually.
In Palawan they also eat wood worms .its like a dare. You got a properly incubated balut. there is a solid white part that is t.hard that you dont eat. good with super cold san miguel beer(the bottled one)
Total respect guys. While I would not be able to swallow the stuff, you reminded me how hypocritic we are, gobbling happily inexpensive meat and meat-products, coming from animals which might have lives in horrible conditions, just because they, cut and packaged, don't resemble an animal body anymore.
Bat... Iwww hahahjaha! Its a lot of fun to eat exotic food. Its a lot of fun in our faces😂🤣... You guys were soo simple... Your enthusiam in everything you see makes you great! I love and enjoying watching you!
I agree eating something you think and look disgusting from another country was all in your head because you are not familiar to such kind of food doesn't mean it's not good not unless you taste and actually eat it and with that i totally salute you guys for having the guts to devulge the local food of every country you been to and Casey was right to learn more of someone's culture was through their food, smooth sailing and safe travel guys i was once a sailor myself i enjoy watching your vlogs, chao!!!!
Great video. A couple spots were hard to watch though without the gagging reflex. I don’t know how I’d survive. I do admire your respect for the local customs.
Way to get out of your comfort zone and try new things. Sharing cultural experiences through food is the best way to do it. I travel to different countries for work and try to avoid foods that are too familiar. I want full cultural immersion =) Another great video!
I think this video shows you do also mix with the communities you visit and make an effort to blend in. the blender doesn`t always produce a sweet smoothie but rather an acquired taste. ;-)
Total respect for both of you, for having an open mindset to other's culture. Accepting one's individuality and way of life. The west specially the vegans/vegitarians they critize us for eating meat, but they dont realize we do not waste any part of the meat and it is our livelihood. Safe travel for both of you.
You guys are amazingly adventurous I was born in Africa and have eaten a few exotics - bugs snake and many wild animals But still think you are brave I use bottled water with the Kava and no stomach issues Too bad missed you passing through Fiji Please visit on your next round God willing will be here for 2 more years so hope to see you If you are sailing to Brisbane please let us know as we have a home there Live long and prosper - good people !!!
Love your attitude!!! and the preface to the climax!! like "free your mind"..(song by 'en voque').. Un' tya dék' ati!! is Surinamese for: You dare!! or You guys are brave(hearts)!!
I absolutely try anything that is put in front of me to taste. Bad thing is, I try anything that is put in front of me.. haha! Love it man, culture is amazing no matter where one goes.
I really think that you guys are really awesome! Visiting different places so as witnessing and experiencing different cultures and traditions is the only way to understand people living in it with no judgments nor criticisms. We all grew up different and this makes us unique from one another. Respect and love is a must to anywhere and in whatever we do. If you visit Philippines again, try lechon especially the ones from Cebu and Leyte - so far the best! Also, dinuguan and many more traditional dishes. More power to both of you and good luck to you journey! Stay safe! 🙏🏻❤️
Hello Ben & Ashley, I worked with a lot of people who worked in the Philippine's, and none of them would admit to eating the infamous Balut egg, they always said the smell was just atrocious. One of my employees transferred to the Philippine's and raised a bunch of champion Cockfighting Roosters, which earned him some pretty good money. I believe Cockfighting is now a No-No there, but not sure. The people of the Philippine's live by a totally different code from us, in North America. I'm not Batty, for Bat Soup either, Luv Y'all.
One person mentioned trying durian. I've worked with a few people that have tried it and said it tastes and smells of garbage. I hope you two get around to trying it. =)
I think if people don't like the way your experiencing the meals then move on ppl you are trying to experience this life. I'm so envious of you two you are liven
Until now I took a bit of pride into that I would try almost everything at least once. Bit actually, I guess the bat with fur I might give a miss. You are very curageous to try that I have to say!

Absolutely love both you guys! Been following you for few weeks now! Watching all yr videos now! Catching up! X 🇬🇧🇬🇧🇬🇧
Excellent guys! Keep an open mind on your trips. The world and people are very interesting.

Wow... You guys are real troopers, eating those boiled duck eggs....! Love following you guys. Keep up the good work and stay safe....!
BALOT is exotic food of the Philippines. Its yummy just add a little salt on it then drink vinegar.

Well donE for saying that this is normal in there world just because we live in the western world WE ARE NOT RIGHT ALL THE TIME
I understand this, however the idea of munching on a soggy half developed duck fetus is repulsing to me
I'm gonna have to disagree when it comes to the bat eating, I'm pretty sure the western world has that one right. Wow, talk about brave eating.

Apart from that I agree wholeheartedly, try things and do as the locals do. Way to go. Have fun and thanks for another great video.
