The Veyron 16.4 Super Sport, 918 Spyder Weissach Package, LaFerrari and P1 have yet to do 9.6 seconds, but you believe that a stock Corvette C7 ZR1 with 755hp and 715lb-ft and weighing 1600kg does quicker times than these cars that weigh slightly less (some slightly more) and with 887+ horsepower? And all but the LaFerrari have more torque as well. It’s not even close.

I’m just reading all of this and it’s making me laugh. Because the fact that you think a stock ZR1 and stock 918 could be at all comparable in a drag race is funny. I don’t think you know what the 918 is.
I’ve seen this “stock” ZR1 that is going 9’s. They added an intake, removed the wing and took the seat out. That’s all they claimed. The intake adds 17hp. That’s it. And you expect me to believe it gains 7mph? We can even clearly see the car wearing drag radials. It may be a stock engine but it is not a stock car.

And the 918 Spyder Weissach Package has 132hp more whilst only weighing 19kg heavier. Let me also point out that it has 944lb-ft of torque, which is 229 more than the ZR1, has full instant torque from 0RPM because of the electric assistance, has less downforce, has a dual clutch transmission and has all wheel drive. No stock ZR1 from the factory is beating it. Stock everything, down to the tire, with both seats in.

I love it......the 720S, literally in its twilight hours before being replaced in the garage by an even faster version of itself, shows that even 3 1/2 years later it’s still unrivaled..... which in this day in age of supercar supremacy not being one upped within months of a vehicle being released is unheard of. @@legaspiferdinandb.5278 the fact of the matter is the lousy dealer network is the one responsible for the depreciation, it has nothing to do with the car not being a better engineered and technically more advanced vehicle. I will agree that the Mclaren 720 depreciation curve initially is not great, but look at 2018’s (the first year on sale in the US) for example, which are holding at $225-230k on the bottom end for average examples and have been that price for about a year now meaning that they probably aren’t going to become significantly less any time soon. For comparison look at what a comparable 2018 Ferrari 488 GTB Coupe that cost about the same as the 720S is worth? Here’s a hint ....not much more.
The days of any of these cars having incredible resale value are over, even Porsche GT cars depreciate and in some cases (such as GT3 RS/GT2 RS) fairly significantly. I happen to be a Porsche fanboy myself, but the Mclaren 720S is an automotive masterpiece that set a new performance benchmark and hasn’t been surpassed despite being nearly 4 years old now

I love Mclaren, there philosophy of light weight has revolutionised the supercar game, i remember it was only ferrari but Mclaren has shown that smaller companies can compete by building lightweight high power cars, they must have pattend lots of new tech aswell, and all in 10/15 years of actual road production cars! They have done amazingly well to not only compete with the other bigger brands with tonnes more prestige but atually better them in certain areas and even convert the other companies to their philosophy! However you will always have people that hate certain brands!! I bet Mclaren isnt big in say Italy, i bet most italians hate them!

@@nchmusic99 mclaren doesnt use a mclaren engine in their f1 cars, its a renault engine, the reason is that its too expensive for them to research,design and build there own, they never have, first they had Honda then Mercedes back to Honda now with renault! Crazy, so i dont really look at the f1 cars as fully mclaren car, i judge them from their hand made bespoke production cars, and even though they have their gremlins mainly due to them still being a very young small company they are punching well above their weight, the 720s is a masterpiece and has blooded the nose of all the bigger,richer,older bespoke supercar brands, then look at the Senna, it destroys anything else that can be bought as a stock production car from the other brands around most tracks and not by the odd hundreth of a second but by 3/4/5 seconds a lap, thats huge in racing terms, thats almost a different race class in motorsport. These are the reasons people are begining to really like Mclaren

The F8 might need a front splitter, rear suspension tightened or front lowered. Seems like the nose of the F8 stays up in the air way to long. Where as the 720 stays more level on launch. Both sick cars. Great video.

It's just trying harder. The carbon, the total weight, the low drag aero, the gearbox, they just don't mess around. Even spare horses so you're not disappointed when putting it on a dyno after a few years.

I think they are pretty equally matched but the superior aero on the McLaren allows for better airflow around the car when there's more air resistance for top end, hence its ability to pull away.

Brooks, I just love your videos. However, you could definitely get more exposure by timing their release better. Posting the videos in the middle of the night Eastern time means most people in the US won’t see them till the next day.
The RUclips algorithm really looks at how many views the videos get right away. When the views are delayed RUclips will count that against you.
There is a really good reason why the big automotive RUclipsrs time their video releases to coincide around events in everyday life.
Some RUclipsrs release videos around 8:00 am Eastern because that is when most viewers start work. Others release around noon because most viewers might be on lunch break.
Just trying to help the channel grow. I really enjoy your channel and I want see it get even bigger.

@@DragTimes RUclips is probably looking for you to upload more often more than anything. However, uploading at noon consistently might be better. I think they look for how consistent you are mostly.
Have you thought about just uploading videos about the cars in between the actual drag videos? For instance I would love to know more about the actual components of the 720s and Ferrari. What type of intercooler does it use? Is it a flat plane crank. What type of air intake system do they use. Also can any of those components be modified to improve performance.
Just some ideas. I really would like to see your channel grow. I love the actual drag content but there are other videos that you could do that would be interesting as well.
I am by now means a Mclaren fan but im amazed by how easily it sails away from every car in its class. It may be a few years old now but it still seems that it's still technically more advanced than its competitors most recent cars!
Uhhh it makes 700whp (780+hp), the F8 makes 640whp. Not "technology", just basic numbers. It's more powerful so yeah it's faster. Both have similar weight/tech.

It's more like 760 crank HP, as it pulls 690 WHP on the Dyno. Pretty insane!!!
It pulls hard in upper gears because it runs factory boost by gear . Full boost comes in 3rd gear and up
@@derekk5992 Yah but the speed differential has to be attributed to horsepower at that point in the race. It's not traction, of course, and surely the weight of the cars is similar, and drivetrain losses can't account for that difference alone.
I guessed Gidi would red light in the F8, I would too if I was in the slower car.

What is the 765lt going to do if it did a 9.9 and a 9.8 on street tires on the street, no prep or race gas! I think it can do a 9.4! That would be crazy for a stock production car to constantly get mid to high 9's, he said its here at the docs and he might have it b4 christmas, unfortunatly for us its gona need running in and running in properly! If it was mine and even though i would be chomping at the bit to ring its neck out id still be sensable and put at least 3/400 steady miles on her first, no cold driving, plenty of time for the engine and fluids to get to optimal heat, i think its essential with a Mclaren as a few have caught fire very early on, i bet they never ran it in properly and just started red lining it from day one ( i imagine you got to show some serious restraint for the first few weeks of having a bran new Mclaren!) Look at Smhee, hes run 4 new Mclarens in from new and not had one single problem engine wise! So dont believe the hype! Just do as Mclaren says and run it in properly!!

Power to weight, aaaannndd the longer gearing in the 720 helps up top. F8 has really short gears which is designed for max effort out of corners on a track. Nonetheless the f8 is still Godly in its own manner. Both are tremendously beautiful as well.

So is the 720s fairly reliable? I’m getting a bigger house with a 6 car garage so I’ll be getting a 700+hp car to get me ready to get a koenigsegg. Not even sure on delivery times for any koenigseggs but I want one.
