Davey M you must charge your phone for a couple of hours and try the method...i think you drain it bro but if the method didn't work out try to visit sony center nearest you they can help you but of course at your expense...hehe

I tried the power button + volume up button and it didn't work. I tried taking the sim card and memory card out then pressed power button + volume up button and it didn't work. Then I pressed power button + power down button for 10 seconds and phone powered on. Android robot showed up after the Sony emblem..and I pressed power button again to continue to power up device. Hope that helps...

+Jolemar Giron I don't think that will help. It seems like you have a SIM card problem. Did you try it out? It wouldn't hurt to try it, but I doubt it will work.
+Myra Paulite Thank you so much! Power button + Volume down for 10 seconds worked for me, when nothing else did. It was just like you said, with the Android robot coming up and such. So relieved that my phone is back to life and working normally!!!
The reset key combo worked on my experia but no need for software update. It did it automatically when turned it on.

Thankyou, you mentioned Sony Xperia Z, but it also works for my Sony Xperia pro I. It died while I was using the camera, and couldn't boot with the power button, but holding power and volume up got it to reboot.
Xperia XZ. I applied this to my XZ. I pressed volume up+ power + camera. Phone buzzed. Released power, held other 2 buttons. Miracle!!! Phone went from being a paperweight to actually charging!

Flash your firmware using flashtool and it'll get solved. :)
Use Flashtool, it doesn't require your phone to be turned on, just download the stock firmware and push it to the phone, wait, and then restart the phone, done.

I have another issue. My phone abruptly turned off while using it outdoors (without a cable for recharging). And now, if I try to boot it up, it only shows SONY and turns off again. But this only happens when it's not connected to power / or a PC via USB. Does somebody have the same issue? Can anyone help me with that?

water must have went inside... cuz it happened with me... Just clean the moisture from inside and u should be good to go

I have Xperia Z2, I tried everything.... vol up + power, vol down + power, red button plus power and vol up & down. Nothing works. When I plug in the charger, dim red light appears followed by Sony logo for 1 sec and then It goes dead again for 6/7 seconds and reapeats all over again.
After plugging in the charger, when I press vol up + power button... then It vibrates once and thats it.... Nothing happens. when I release the buttons... again the Sony logo appears and goes dead... and the cycle continues :(
My phone does that too , it's because the battery isn't good anymore i think my xperia dies when it's at 97% or something then it shows its 0% then it goes on it shows the logo then it dies again en it repeats it self , i just left it and it went on & of for a few min then i felt my phone if it wasn't hot anymore then i charged it & it showed 100% , but now i have to charge & go on my phone.
+Ashley Wongso I gave it for fixing and they found moisture inside... they just cleaned the moisture and every is fine now. I remember washing my phone a month ago... i guess my phone is no longer water proof 😞

Some extra info:
-Long press the power key and the volume up key at the same time until your device vibrates.
-Depending on whether you wish to force the device to restart or shut down, proceed as follows.
If you wish to force restart the device: Release the keys at this point. The device restarts.
If you wish to force shut down the device: Continue pressing the keys. After a few more seconds, the device vibrates 3 times and turns off.
OMG! This saved my life. Xperia 10 completely dead and now raised from ashes. Thank you!

That tells me it's a feature, not a flaw, but what sane human being would think "yes, we must ensure that the phone will randomly turn off, and refuse to accept a charge or turn back on, until the user holds down both the volume and the power buttons for approximately 26 seconds!"?

hey i watched a video and i worked for mine he took a tooth pick took the back off the phone at the bottom of the phone these a small gold colour button it says off in black writting press this for a few seconds and hey presto mine works ood luck

Worked for Sony Xperia M5. The phone had become inoperable and then the battery run flat as well and would not charge. No lights, no response on connection to charger. Left it connected to charger for 24hr. Disconnected, reconnected then indicated charging & charged to 50% before finally carrying out this reset. - Thanks guys
