I love my EJ DE 87 (faux ivory) . Nice build quality, fit and finish is top shelf as well. First shave out of the box was really good. Weight and balance were right as well. Mine didn't come with Feather blades , it came with Derby Extras but I think any blade I have works well. I can understand why EJ razors are so well regarded. It handles like a dream.
I started with the Edwin Jagged DE89LBL, and have always loved it for its efficiency, ease of use, and visual beauty. After sometime, I began wondering what inspired the DE89. In an interview, Neil Jagger, founder of Edwin Jagger, mentioned he was inspired by old vintage razors. This has led me to the 1940 Fat Handle Tech, which I believe was one of the influences for the design of the DE 89.
The first DE razor I ever bought was an Edwin Jagger DE87 in 2013. Between then and 2j016, I bought a lot of other razors, mostly from eBay. Fatboy, superspeed, gem, eveready, aristrocrat and on and on and on. All those razors, and the Edwin Jagger DE87 - my very first DE razor - is still my favorite. Yup, I like it even more than the legendary Fatboy. A lot more. Don't know what it is, but it just gives a great, comfortable shave every single time.
Love mine. If you plan to get one of these for your first DE razor, consider getting a less aggressive blades since the ones comes with it are very very sharp.
Just found your channel and store... consuming lots of content! Tried my wife's cheap safety razor (you tossed it across the room in a review) and decided I liked it enough to upgrade us both to Edwin Jagger's! Looking forward to my goody box in the near future!
Thank You very much Matt for this great video about EJ razors. indeed they are great. I have several versions of them including Kelvin and must say I like them very much .As always all the best to You and three cheers to Razor Emporium!!!!. Chris
After a stumbling block picking a generic DE razor from the Shaver Shop (imagine blood, and disappointed) I then decided to ditch the generic and go with the EJ DE89 I never looked back best, comfortable shave almost effortless for a noob like myself. I was deciding between the Merkur 34c and the EJ DE89 and glad decided on this one. Great video Matt 👍
I used my DE89 with the green Proraso line tonight and medium aggressive blades and thought it was very pleasant and relaxing. As it was my first safety razor shave, it took a bit to get into it after using a cartridge razor for so many years, but I enjoyed this razor! My only question is how tight do you tighten down the handle? I didn't want to make it too loose or too tight and it not shave. I did it barely finger tight and hoped for the best and it did fine.
Probably just tight enough so it's secure I would have thought. I'm not sure if overtightening it would affect its longevity. That's where mine failed and I had to replace the top cap.
I own Mühle R89 and it's a great shaver, but I'm a little confused. What's the difference between Edwin Jagger EJ89 and Mühle R89? Who created the dessign? The head is the same and they offer the same handles (with their own brand on them).
After looking at some of these videos and checking out the website, I'm getting a DE89 as my first safety razor. What's a good blade for very sensitive skin?
I use a DE89, and I love it. Many people say it's a starter razor, but I can't imagine I need to move to anything else.
That's funny. Maybe what they meant is that you CAN spend a lot more like they did; $20 is just a start to them.
My first ever razor. Mine had the lined handle. A very good razor.

I just start DE wet shaving and it's nice to see the razor I picked been featured on here!
I love my EJ89
I used a de 89 for the first time this morning with a personna lab blue and Mitchell’s wool fat and wow. So smooth. 👍😊
I love my DE 89. It is my prefered everyday shaver. It never lets me down.
Totally agree. I have dozens of DE razors but the DE89 never fails to deliver a great shave, every time,

The DE89L was my first safety razor and is still in my top 5! I can't wait to try the 3One6!

Good video. Is the de89ba the same as the Edwin Jagger de89 Kelvin? There seems to be a price discrepancy between them on amazon.
EJ is class. Thanks for the video Matt.
Love the EJ89!
Mine came with derby blades.
Mine did as well.
Nice video Matt👍

I have and love the DE89 but I am thinking of getting the 3ONE6, is it worth it?
Personal preference

Timmy Fangs we have a sensitive skin sample pack that is a good place to start.
So a DE86 and a DE89 are the same except the handle?
Yes
