    we always let our banks know that we’re gonna be traveling because yes we have had the issue on several of our trips not just out of the country but also within the US. Thank you for a very informative video. My husband and I will be going to Japan in May and we are just so excited and this has really helped us and given us some good direction.

    Get a schwab debit card and a costco credit card. Problems solved.

    You didn’t mention that foreign Visa credit cards aren’t accepted online or for the digital transit app(SUICA) in Japan.

    We used to have to notify banks when traveling oversees but Wells Fargo and BofA recently ended their notification processes. Not sure about other banks.
