    It really makes a difference. Looks like a screen with no depth. So cool. Id love to try with my luck though id end up with bubbles and that would drive me mad

      Thanks very much :) - This was a good choice of watch to do it with because it's solar powered (so no need to ever open it again and change the battery) plus it's 100m water resistant without having a screw-down crown, so doesn't leak at all when you change the date. Two good features to look out for if you convert any more.

      @@FazerWiz Yes, I intentionally used 100m watches too. I only used cheap ones to start with but have been considering a solar powered unit for the future.

      @@FazerWiz To guarantee correct operation, is it necessary 100% that the watch is not a screw-down crown?

    • @FazerWiz
      @FazerWiz  2 года назад +2

      @@6TeddyMc9 I think so. Screw-down crowns seal only when they are screwed down, so when you unscrew it to change the time or date, it's likely that oil will leak out.

    Reading the comments, maybe a bubble isn’t a bad thing. I have a cheap Casio MRW200H that’s oil filled, and it definitely weeps a little now and then. I just filled a G-Shock and left a little bubble. I’ll see how it holds.

    • @troyschonke6304

      How did it hold? did it still weep with the air bubble...

    • @roversgonemad
      @roversgonemad 3 месяца назад

      @@troyschonke6304 the bubble in the G-Shock disappeared and it does weep a tiny bit, but just enough that it occasionally feels slick. It’s not leaving puddles or anything like that. The MRW200 is tight on this last battery change, but the fluid makes it go through batteries really fast. I get six months and it’s dead. I think I’m going to try it on an eco drive and see how it does.

    Exciting, because I'm a scuba diver with a passion for Casio digital watches. I have a Citizen Eco Drive dive watch, officially certified to 200m so it needs no hydromod, but my favorite watches are the Casio A168, F-91W, etc. I wear them every single day as they're so light compared to my Citizen diver, and I want to fill these Casio watches with oil so I can form scuba diving memories with them.
    You know, I read your recent comments about the bubble, I think most of the hydromods are recommended to leave a small bubble inside to allow for heat expansion, so perhaps you should just leave the tiny bubble as is. Lastly, I take it that your watch is still running?

    I have a 2 eco drive watches and was going to oil fill one and see how it does cause i really don’t like the one to much cause I wear it to work and it gets beat up. After seeing your video and reading your comment about the bladder I was looking at maybe a little round rubber sealed air pocket with just enough air that in the sun it would compress to let the oil expand I don’t think it would have to be a lot of air cause it only leaks a little bit of oil

    @destrygriffith3972 Год назад +6

    Would love to hear how long these mods last. I've heard you'll only get six months outta it due to the excess wear on the works moving that second hand through the oil...

    • @FazerWiz
      @FazerWiz  Год назад +5

      Still going fine, so issues at all. The only problem is that if you leave it in direct sunlight to charge it and the watch gets too hot, some of the oil is forced out and you end up with a bubble. I'm now trying to find a way of including some kind of bladder to allow for oil expansion in direct sunlight. If you keep it out of direct sunlight it's fine and doesn't leak.

    Hello Fazer, I was wondering can I use this silicone oil as a refill for my lubricating foam for watches? the ones inside the foam were liquid clear type silicone not the typical white ones.

    Very cool and interesting the fact that screw-downs would leak... so basically this watch has unlimited WR? I saw a video from a Russian guy who test an oil-filled a 50 bucks quartz watch and went down 3000m with no problems at all!
    Do you remember which model is this???

    • @FazerWiz
      @FazerWiz  2 года назад

      Yes it should be, at least theoretically! The only problem I've found is that if you leave the watch in direct sunlight so it gets very warm, then the oil will expand and it will leak out of the crown, leaving a bubble when it cools again, but no seal will stop that as the pressure of expanding oil due to thermal change would be huge. One option might be to put some kind of tiny bladder in the back to absorb the expansion, but I haven't worked that out yet. In normal use it never leaks though, only of the watch gets hot.
