    The fact it's mechanical is just wow, I can't find words to how crazy this is. No one outside of those who know and have been told how it works would believe it's an oldschool watch. It looks 100% like some smartwatch, but nicer xd. Fantastic.

    Insane piece of engineering. Design isn't for everyone, and personally it looks like an Apple watch face (maybe intentional?), but I can truly appreciate the amount of engineering that went into this design. Thanks for covering this piece, Teddy!

      I really like the design and the uniqueness but honestly 40k for an ETA based watch regardless of how much it’s modified is simply too much. Also I doubt this could be serviced outside of Ressence itself. I don’t want to be dependent only on the manufacturer.

    This video is what you do best: Elaborate on high-end watches, showing them with smooth close-up camera moves and talking your way through the whole time. And still making sensable conversation. Bravo.
    How do you come up with such watches? I would like to see a video about thàt. ❤

  • @MrAumbra

    Design is beautiful, engineering is exceptionally impressive and functionality seems useful. That said, I don’t think I would allocate $40K towards adding this piece over others that offer more complication, traditional design aesthetic and better wearability. I do like it but it would only be added to the collection after I added others. Collectibility over wearability from my point of view and for my taste. Cool timepiece either way.

    • @Skibbityboo0580
      @Skibbityboo0580 Год назад +1

      I agree. I would get this watch if I could afford to spend $40K without batting an eye, but that amount is a serious purchase for me, and I would go for something more traditional. So I will just have to wait to become a multi-millionaire to get one lol.

  • @anthonystevens8683

    If ever there was a piece that would be a conversation starter this is it. The fact that it has no 'bling' is a huge plus for me. It may well be beyond what I'd even consider paying I can really appreciate the engineering and design elements that have gone into it. Being oil filled would also make it super legible (if you understand how to read the time on the piece) compared to the let's say regular designs. If money was really no object I might just take a look. Many thanks for sharing.

    This is the best looking watch I have seen in my whole life! I love how this looks like a piece wearable tech but its purely mechanical. It is not too flashy but it looks elegant at the same time. Reminds of something Dieter Rams could have designed. Retro but very futuristic at the time. Timeless even. This is one of those pieces of design and egineering I would be amazed by still after many years of owning and wearing it.

    I love my Ressence. Rollex guys (I own a few TBH) always ask me about it and about 20 minutes into the conversation they are totally stunned. I ask about their watch and the conversation is 20 seconds. Tony Fadell (inventor of the iPod and Nest) helped design their type 2. I emailed them for service and the owner of the company replied himself. Ressence is the brand that only a few understand, but they are the people you want to talk watches with.

    Everything about this watch is a feat in engineering! I love the look of the oil filled dial, reminds me of those oil filled gauges in the 60s muscle cars. The rotating dial, date function display, no crown, all just amazes me. Is it expensive, yes, and most watches that brake the normal trend tend to be. Having about 30 watches myself, ranging from Timex, vintage unknowns, right up to my gold Rolex Day-Date, Patek, and VC, I will be adding one of these to my collection, even if I have to thin out the collection a bit, its just that unique!! I have not got this excited about a watch since the Lange & Shone Zeitwerk hit my radar.

    I love it when watch brands display innovation, but it is always tough to sell these new ideas given the high price tag.
    I understand that innovation requires cost in research, design and engineering, but for $40,000 people are presented with the choice of innovative watchmaking or ultra-fine finishing, and 9 out of 10 enthusiasts will choose to pay for finishing

      @Mr-R.R. Год назад +1

      You're getting ultra fine finishing here too. It simply comes down to people not wanting/liking this design over what they're used to. It's that simple.
      But me, if i had the money for an expensive watch in this price range, I'd but this over something people usually buy cause i personally value innovation and creativity to this degree a lot more

They too are a bit on the polarizing side with their design & also feature some unique tech in terms of it's use of bellows that control 2 different liquids to give a running account of the time. I think watches like Ressence should be celebrated for their innovation. I'd rather spend the money on a watch that created it's own thing than an AP that's just a nice watch that's living off the innovation of the past.
