Absolutely can tell how the oil affects the legibility. I thought this was some new fancy smartwatch I'd never seen in the thumbnail based on how the "display" looked.
The first time I saw this watch I honestly thought it was a digital. Crazy looking watch I love it.

I remember seeing this watch in a magazine. I believe it was in the early to mid 2000's. Always loved the design of this watch.
I was thinking of this watch and where I saw it. I believe it was in a magazine while flying in a commercial airplane.
It’s too cool to be true! Though I might never buy it, I appreciate the bold idea the designers dare to try and the outcome… amazing!

Back in the day. I made a ressence face for my moto360. That was a nice moment for me. The design is as livable as it is cool looking.
If you did videos on something as boring as say 'towel racks', I would still watch those because your videos are that good and entertaining. Terrific indeed.

I’ve loved this watch for years, defiantly a worthy grail.
The most expensive watch in my collection is £3,500 so its not going to be happening anytime soon but its the thought that counts right…….. actually my whole collect is worth £12,000 so that wouldn’t do it either.
Not a particularly big fan of the other Ressence models though as they don’t show off the oil-filled wonderment but who cares when this exists!

I'm scared of owning any watch where the glass is higher then the bevel. I know I will scratch it the first day I wear it. With that said.... This has been added to my dream watch list!
Love the eyeball oil splash comment! I learned about these the exact same way you did and have been obsessed since. Would appreciate if they were to produce a more affordable 'common man' version. Surely they could do this for bet 3-8k, but that may just be dreaming and I'm not a magnet doctor.
This design just rewrote the laws of time and fashion. It's like wearing a piece of the cosmos on your wrist, while giving Einstein a run for his money 👏

This might be sacrilege, but with the shape and design of it, you could have convinced me it was a pixel watch. It's got a very similar domed structure, and because of the effect of the oil, it definitely looks like it could be digital.. it would be interesting to see a ressence watch face for the pixel watch 😅

If it was only $30, I wouldn't buy it. But at over $40,000, it makes me want one and also makes me sad for humanity

There's one watch manufacturer beside Ressence that has this oiled filled feature the italian company called U-Boat makes watches like that less expensive then the ressence tho still pretty expensive and funny enough its only rated for 50m under water which is halarious considering the name of the brand.
Love Ressence - I want the type 3 BBB and the white version.
I love this watch! But like most getting one is nothing short of a miracle, however there is a way to get something like it on a budget, there is a version of the watch face on a certain watch face app site & if installed on a google pixel with a steel body, hey presto you got yourself one?
Just a thought, great video by the way, loved the tear down, as I often wondered how they did this.

I think they are a very cool watch, I have seen them in at my local dealer and when they ask if I want to try one one, I always say “I don’t lead the lifestyle to wear that watch”
I have loved them for years but I cannot un-see the “unicorn Mickey Mouse” after someone pointed it out
just started watching the video and fell in love on first sight and decided i need to have this watch then saw the prices and decided i maybe don't.
Since this is a 2D display - much like a smartwatch - I think the question has to be how long until the novelty wears off. There is no depth, no exotic materials, just a surface-level means of communicating data. You know this to be true because you buy mechanical watches and not just digital ones, such as the G-Shocks.
I know enough about myself and my experiences that this watch’s honeymoon for me would be about 5 days.
and it requires no machining, no tolerances, no precious metals. The Chinese will soon come up with a $100 homage or a copy.

I bought a really cool Timex 15 years ago. It cost me about $28. It still works great. Rarely do I ever have to change the battery. It’s a really cool olive green with an olive green band. Very tactical looking. Love it. Anybody who pays so much needs mental health counseling.
If you can afford this watch you can probably afford to hire a butler just to set the time for you and change the date when you need to skip over the 31st. Jokes aside, it is a beautiful watch, thanks for sharing and giving us plebs something else to dream about.

Another video of yours that I watched without any interest in the subject. I learned about this brand some time ago and knew all the tech details. I appreciate them for innovating, its just in the wrong direction for me. Me if I already had a couple dozen very expensive more conventional watches I really liked, I would go this eccentric for a change. But that's probably never gonna happen.

I have the watch, a must for a watch winder, but I use a jeweler’s ball to set it otherwise it is a nightmare with bare fingers

Now heres the thing imagine if a smartwatch implements the oil paralex view , if would be crazy , I've seen apple watches have a somewhat effect , but it doesnt have a perfect angular display like this, it would be a game changer.
Don't they mainly fill dive watches (and dive computers) with oil so you don't have a pressure difference at depth and you can theoretically go to any depth with them? Legibility is a happy side effect. :)
I got one - and they are more fantastic than the videos show. I tell everyone its a swatch.

The type of work I do let's me afford this watch, having the time to wear it different story, and after you explaining how to set makes it seem frustrating to me. So I stick with my various Galaxy watches for simplicity. Also size wise when I have the time to wear them I prefer my Grand Arsenal, Big Daddy, and Grand Daddy watches.
