Lived in thàt area of nova scotia at one time. I admire Hank Snow, he had so many hardships and yet never gave up...the eternal optomist. Rest in peace, Hank. We will always 😊 remember you and your songs.😊
I met the great Hank on my first trip to the U S and was over the moon when I heard that he was coming to Australia,I went to his show at Burnie tas , and early in the show he told us that he had been waiting thirty years to get here ,to which I hollered back , and we've been waiting thirty years for you to come, he immediately invited me backstage for the rest of the show and whether or not he remembered it he introduced me as a friend he met in Nashville , he gave me tickets for his two shows in Launceston and Hobart which I gladly accepted, fortunately I got to see him again on later trips to the U S, a wonderful singer so sadly missed, cheers from Tasmania
I'm an Aussie... My late brother, Ron, was a huge country music fan and purchased many of Hank Snow's records over the years. Before the internet, he bought them through mail order from the USA and Canada. Later he could purchase them through Aussie record retailers. When my brother passed away, his huge record collection was passed onto me to add to my collection. Fortunately, we both loved country music, so I now have a lot of records - some of them are quite rare - particularly the early Hank Snow records. RIP Hank and Ron Incidentally., the original version of the song "I've Been Everywhere" was written by an Aussie - Geoff (tangle-tongue) Mack in 1959. It was recorded then by singer Lucky Starr and was a huge hit in Australia. The towns mentioned in the original were Aussie towns. ruclips.net/video/1OZWi-mTkNU/видео.html
I have the Bear Family Hank Snow CD compilations which I put onto my iPod and play it often....great music from one of the greats. I have yet to visit NS from Vancouver.
I grew up in Australian in the out back areas. No electricity and just a Crystal set and my folks had a battery radio. When I heard Hank Snow, I was immediatly attracted to his songs and country singing style. Some 30 years later, I was able to go to a Hank Snow concert in Sydney.I loved it. Truly amazing . I still plays Hanks LP.He was totally unique and talented.
Thanks for sharing that story. Seeing HS in Sydney would have been incredible. Same as you, I play my HS records regularly, there's something about his clear baritone cutting through the crackle, it's real music. I'll be touring Nova Scotia in September and will be performing lots of Hank Snow music live, stay tuned. There is also a video on my channel where I'm at the Hank Snow Tribute Festival in Liverpool, NS, near where he was born, from a few years ago: ruclips.net/video/0kHsxAA2mio/видео.html Cheers!
Hey, Keith. Glad you found this video. I was going to suggest it to you. I appreciate your kind words and tuning in. I love these old songs too...far better than the music today! Cheers.

I grew up listening to Hank. When I was 14 I went to a concert he was headlining in Altoona Pa. I actually got to meet him after the show.
I have kin in Williamsburg, PA.

No, it was sung by Jimmie Rodgers, an American who had a number of hit songs in 50's and 60's , you can find him here on RUclips.
