This man is tops! Right after he sang " A Boy Named Sue" and made it a hit, I wrote Mr. Cash and gave him a song that I wrote called, " A Girl Named John ". Six months later, I received a hand written personal letter ( in black felt tipped pen). He told me that before he got my song, someone had written another song in response to his Boy Named Sue. He told me to keep on writing songs! He gave me a personal address to send my songs to so he could get it right away. I still have that letter! I will cherish it forever. I got married and went on a different career, but music stayed in my life. He was the greatest! Friend David!
Sunday Morning coming down is the ultimate country song. I first saw Johnny Cash in concert in1957 along with Ray Price and Carl Perkins. All my friends were listening to Doo Wop. Johnny Cash was my all time favorite.
They’re relationship almost didn’t happen. Johnny was on drugs & June was about to call it quits on the tour. Then it took Johnnys band, June and the rest of the road gang to break Johnnys habit of the drugs & that’s why in the song of the Statler Brothers “paid by cash” the line they were there when John remembered God was on his side. It took God & the road gang to bring Johnny through his hard times with his drug addiction. Yes it’s in the movie “walk the line - with Reese Witherspoon & Jaquan Phoenix [Good Movie] but it’s true that they’re relationship almost never happened. I’m glad it did & yes they were meant for each other. Johnny loved June when he was a young boy also

No one but no-one like Johnny Cash! He was Country Music's greatest star with mega songs like I Walk The Line, Folsom, Big River and (Ghost) Riders in the Sky. Few people in America realize what Cash did for Country Music worldwide - he literally spread the word with live shows everywhere, from London's Royal Albert Hall and Wembley Arena to arenas all over Europe and The Johnny Cash Show travelled around the world as far as Australia, and of course played in all the States in the USA as well as Canada. Glen Campbell had it about right when he said he thought Elvis and Cash were the 2 most charismatic singers he had ever seen. Enjoy this great show which I keep coming back to. I'm sure JR is having a drink with Waylon, Merle, Marty Robbins, George Jones, Hank, E.T. and and of course Glen Campbell. It's September 2020, so stay safe ...

Before I was licensed to drive, for several years I helped mow, rake, and bale the hay on his Bon Aqua property. One day a small black Mercedes came up the driveway to the log home where I knew the exterior but only the interior from the Johnny Cash and Glenn Campbell Christmas show. As I pulled the tractor and rake through the gate near the home, for the only time in my life... I saw Mr. Cash. I listened to him for hours on 8 track in my room, made from a car stereo and speakers with a voltage converter... There he was dressed in black, in what must have been around a hundred degrees, me in my farmer's tan, no shirt, co-op hat, and jeans... as I latched the gate I looked over at him. He was hoeing weeds 4 feet tall in this 4x8 garden spot marked by a small timber, so the lawn team wouldn't mow it. I thought to myself, if this man has escaped the world for the pleasure of my worst nightmare, then I won't be a pesty fan and bother him!!! I waved, he waved back. We were the only people on earth at that moment. Waving was a thing we did to everyone on our 5 mile stretch of road back then because we knew each other, he was only a mile outside that range. I had no idea what to say. I did not realize at the time what a unique life I had. If I had it to do over, I'd go up and speak to him and let him interrogate me and let him find the peace that he was looking for in the life that I was living at that moment in time.

I've loved Johnny Cash since I was a child. He is truly a legend and he gave so much to the world through his talent. I miss him still to this day. The music industry today is dead. What a pity they don't make music like this anymore.
I'm 78, I was at a Johnny Cash concert in Winnipeg Manitoba, he wore tight leather pants, it was a thrill to see him. I also remember when Elvis and Waylon Jennings started and I would wear out the 45s. Yikes watching this brings back many memories.
I just finished watching Johnny's last performance at the Carter Ranch. Very depressing. Had to come here & watch this. As a kid of maybe 7 or 8 my mother took me to Madison Square Garden to see him in concert in the early 70's. Left a huge impression. Great artist.

Im a Fan 4ever ♡ xo. Love Johnny Cash !!
I've loved Johnny Cash since I was a child. He is truly a legend and he gave so much to the world through his talent. I miss him still to this day. The music industry today is dead. What a pity they don't make music like this anymore.

Mostly music died when the airplane went down in a corn field. Few have carried music on past that faitful day, Johnny did carry it on.
LUKE KELLY
Real country music even loved by the rest of the Americas. Greetings from Panama.
I'm 78, I was at a Johnny Cash concert in Winnipeg Manitoba, he wore tight leather pants, it was a thrill to see him. I also remember when Elvis and Waylon Jennings started and I would wear out the 45s. Yikes watching this brings back many memories.
Such a beautiful song with a nice voice!!
You're a big fan of the oldies??
@@tonymarek275 I like classic rock when I need some energy and the blues for chilling.

Saw John and June in concert one times years ago. He is wonderful and she is funny. Love them

Johnny cash ist eine Legende und er berührt seit 50 Jahren mein Herz, er ist für mich der Beste ...
I just finished watching Johnny's last performance at the Carter Ranch. Very depressing. Had to come here & watch this. As a kid of maybe 7 or 8 my mother took me to Madison Square Garden to see him in concert in the early 70's. Left a huge impression. Great artist.
