Hi guys. I don't like this kind of work mainly because it never works the first time. Even now it wasn't the best. Nevertheless, I hope you will like the video.

Agree, so do you think it was still worth all effort it took (welding, machining, again welding, again machining) to repair instead of making the hole part from scratch?

I always hated making one of a kind parts where the budget didn't allow for shrinkage or the lead time on replacement material was 90 to 365 days and welding was not an option.
I once had a customer complaining about how long we were taking to deliver a component - and the "raw material" was a component that was manufactured by one of the customer's subsidiaries. Well, we'd been waiting more than 6 months for their subsidiary in Europe to ship the component and they were on a 6 weeks long midsummer break. They were complaining to the wrong people!

Looks like a piece of a die cast mold. People think that Tesla is smart for trying to implement die casting at a higher level but it doesn't take long and that beautiful expensive die cast mold starts looking like this and you are constantly doing extensive service on the mold just to keep it going.

Ah reapairs like that... I don't like them either! Might work might not work and if it works it's the question : how long?... If that cornerpiece broke out and now its welded it might have compromised material structure and it probably breaks off again right on the same spot just a lot earlier then the first time :D The welds looked okay tho so im confident. 😅
And good job as always 😁

Really enjoy getting to see the cam side. Of it, what software is that you are using for programming? Looks similar to fusion 360, (edit, I see now at the end of the video you say what it is.)

I truly loved Schlumberger's CAD/CAM solutions on the DEC VAX platform back in the late 1980s and early 1990s. The software cost more than $100,000 per seat and the DEC VAXStation it ran on was also expensive, but I've never used a better system before or after.

Looks like they had a bit more welding to do after the first part. 9:38

Do you mean the small holes on top? They can weld it, and resurface by hand. The welder did a good job, and the machinists job is done :)

@@DancingMachine1 No it's the surface at the bottom right hand side. Where the weld build up was started. . it appears to be stepped and not blended with the previous surface. However it could easily be blended by hand.
