Yep - it was a cool little favor to Shane Black, since Shane basically saved his career with Kiss Kiss Bang Bang (and obviously went on to direct Iron Man 3).

One of the funniest Buddy Cop Action Comedy movies ever made!
A sequel was considered but it was cancelled due to the poor box office, making $70 million dollars against a $50 million dollar budget.
A TV series based on the movie was shelved indefinitely.

I love Shane Black's movies. Kiss Kiss Bang Bang is a fave. I get so tired of a lot of the franchises going on right now - but this? I would love a franchise of this! these two guys solving crimes in 3, 4, 5 movies would be heaven!
