    I like the fact that Merv explain things slowly and he takes his time going about it. That way you learn the depper details of it all.
    Thank you Sir Merv. You're THE great deal.

      Thank you Aditya for your subscription and lovely comments. Although I have a UK Duster it was actually made in India. When they launched the Duster in the UK, the Romanian factory were behind on production so brought the first batch ( 2013 ) from India. As you can probably see from my videos, it is driven hard most of the time and I have had very little trouble with it and have driven nearly 170,000 kms and the engine is still great. Good luck with your own servicing and glad the video helped.

      Absolutely. The reason I chose the Duster was primarily running costs, I would not be able to afford something returning 18-20 mpg and costing over £300 year to tax.

    Good video Merv, l always do my own oil and filter change for the same reasons you have mentioned, mainly so you know for definite the correct oil grade has been used, on your tip for hand tightening the oil filter l just tighten mine by hand as tight as l can get it and it has never leaked, also never use a filter wrench to tighten the oil filter.

    Hi Merv thanks for the video I have a duster just like yours which has an engine light come up so its been put on a computer, the results show turbo issue and egr. Someone saide a coked up egr could be the reason the turbo is not performing well so I have bought some wynn's egr cleaner. The question I want to ask is when you get the cover and pies off as you have is the air intake on the top left of the engine as this is where I am meant to squirt the cleaner...? Thanks in advance.

    Hi Merv, this tutorial is great, thank you. I have a question you might be able to help with. The steering feels very light on my Duster when I'm in 6th gear, is that a sign of an issue or just something typical of dusters / 4WDs in higher gears? Thanks for any pointers

      Indicator switches are a weak point and can be bought for around £16 - £20 online. I really don't know if that would cure the issue but it's a realtively cheap item to try. Thanks for the positive feedback.

    Hi Merv. Thanks for this. I have the next generation Duster and I live in a South Africa. Until now, I have always bought oil from the agents (Castrol Gtx 5w30 acea C4) What do you think of using a 5w40 acea c3 rated oil? Cheers

    Hi Merv, just took ownership of a 13 plate 15dci Duster. Looking forward to servicing my cars again, not sure the garage I bought it from did anything before I took ownership. Any advice on heavy steering ?.
    Wife "So, what is the upgrade on here"
    Me "It's got electric mirrors"

    • @mervtaylor
      @mervtaylor  2 года назад

      Not heard of heavy steering being reported. Obviously check there are no fluid leaks in the steering rack and check the fluid level. Could be many things from power steering pump to as simple as under inflated tyres. I think it's best to take to a garage to be checked over.

    • @ftmc1532

      @@mervtaylor did a bit more digging and the fluid is very thick so steering very slow, looking to have the power steering flushed and refilled.

    Any benefits of using Shell Synthetic oil over the factory elf?

    • @mervtaylor
      @mervtaylor  3 месяца назад

      I have used Shell Helix before but never used the Renault Elf, as long as it meets the factory specification and is done on time I personally see no issues. Better to chane a cheaper oil on time than leave a more expensive oil in for longer.

    • @adityabhagat7884
      @adityabhagat7884 3 месяца назад

      @@mervtaylor I've been using the cheaper factory elf mineral oil and its absolutely fine. But now that my Duster has done 2L kms and is over 11 years old, I sense the motor to be a bit louder on the clatter. I did a Diesel Purge and it smoothened things out. EGR cleanout clamed the vibes out too. Last piece to attend to in the service was a synthetic oil but haven't found many reviews for the dci 110 when it runs a Synthetic oil. Oil changes regardless of oil will be 10K no doubt.
