    thanks for the informative video. I have been searching for information as to why the outer pontoons are designed and built like they are, before we make a purchase of a SWITCH. Thanks for the explanation that they are designed to take in water for weight distribution. my local salesman at the dealer didn't even know this.

    Favorite vid on the Switch. Good Job explaining it without doing a sales pitch. Thinking strongly about a switch. Just moved to Crystal River & no props for the Manatees is appealing. Concerned about durability of the plastic everything, and longevity of the motor. Really like the maneuverability.

    Thanks for the video. I have a couple Sparks that I bought when they first came out and they use the same hull material. It was new concept at the time (a few Yamaha owners gave me crap) but after having them for 5 +years now I've grown to like it better than the fiberglass hull on my boat. I'm considering the exact same boat you have. Was hoping (as an owner) you would have commented on how it handles chop, top speed, etc.. I'll be using mine on a fairly large lake that can get a bit choppy if the wind kicks up.

    If you have the 5-pin converter, you don’t need to tape/magnet that pin in your trailer. You just need power to that 5th wire so that you don’t activate the solenoid when backing up.
    If you do tape it and you are driving with it and stop, the mechanical brake on the trailer will not activate. Only your vehicle brakes stop you and the trailer brake will not help you stop. Hope that makes sense.

    I solved the problem with the fender clip problem by simply taking a round file to the inside parting line left by the injection molding process. Careful - it doesn’t take much filing and these clips fit looser is some places on the tubular frame.

    Nice video. I have a the same boat but the cruise. Always interested in seeing how folks have configured things differently. Always good to see everyone complaining about the bumper connections. FWIW the rope you have connected at the back secured w the Velcro tie…..great idea until it isn’t….if that rope falls out and sucked into the intake you’re done. IDF won’t kick it out. I do the same thing but with a 6’ stretch cord that won’t reach the inlet if it falls into the water. Enjoy that FL wx!

    I have the 2022 Seadoo Sport 18 and I love it. I always raise the Bimini top when I get on the boat so I never have to crawl under it. I drive with it up not open as well, which cuts down on the drag. when I put the cover on it I go out the back when I get the cover over the bimini top and go down the swim deck ladder and then snap and strap it all down. I know that it is not recommended to do that. You can get a ladder and set it up to get off the boat. I do that some times.

    Just got mine (21 foot Cruise with the 230 supercharged motor) and love it. Just an FYI on the 5 pin wiring, the 5th pin is for the breaks so you don't have to put the pin in when backing up. At least that is what the dealer told me, I went to Amazon and for a little over $10 I got an adaptor that goes form 7 pin to both 4 and 5 pin. Have not put the pin in once when backing up and have had no issues so it looks like the dealer was telling the truth. lol

    Great video. Looking into possibly purchasing one. Answered a bunch of questions I had. BUT, how much of a pain is the wash down? Being in the saltwater and kids getting in and out, I image the saltwater gets everywhere in all the nooks and crannies all over the deck. Doesn’t seem very wash down friendly as there would be standing water in the spaces on the deck. Am I missing something or is there an easy answer? I’m a clean freak when it comes to washing saltwater off my boats. Thanks in advance for any insight!

    • @fwaynedavis
      @fwaynedavis 7 месяцев назад +2

      It is actually friendlier than conventional pontoons. Just wash away! you can pop up the soft tiles and almost every surface can be washed. The pontoons have plenty of space to allow dirt to wash out. I struggles with my older aluminum pontoon because everything was bolted or built in. That where debris and eventually mold took hold. Treat it like a watercraft "jet -ski" instead of a boat. Its made to get wet!

  • @coldhorse

    Great video. My question, that has been a bit difficult to find the answer to, is how long is the engine life on the Rotax engine. Everything I read is around 500 hours. Seems like a very short life compared to other engines. Thanks!

    • @blueblur1984
      @blueblur1984 9 месяцев назад +1

      That's a concern I had too. The answers vary wildly but it seems like model number and application make a huge difference. The 500-1,000 hours seems to be on Rotax motors in snow mobiles (which I imagine live harder lives than boats). One forum cited the marine application (not sure which output) typically lasts 2,500-3,000 following prescribed maintenance. That being said the switch has only been out a few years so time will tell if the heavier weight makes much of a difference.

How easily could you remove the swim platform. My garage is 21’ deep with garage door closed. My thoughts were to purchase an 16’ + the 2’ swim deck. Switch owner in central Florida here. Curious how often you cross paths with
    other Switch boats? Personally know someone with one on the Winter Haven
    chain of Lakes nearby myself a few miles away. Met someone with this boat
    up at lake Minneola three or so months ago. One other occasion that escapes
    me. We have the 13 foot sport. We definitely have the same thoughts and
    opinions overall. Kind of conflicted because on one hand buying something this
    new you have to deal with the flaw designs that will probably be corrected.
    On the other hand I doubt my cost with price increases would make me all that
    happy had I waited for a better overall product. We have had some nice times
    with it . But I wish I knew beforehand how easily the jet boats will damage
    if you are not really cautious around shallow water. Hard lesson learned there.

    Great video! How is the ladder and access into the boat from the water? Is it functional and comfortable? I only see one handle to get up out of water and was curious. Thanks!
